Last time round I just left my details and the MW came out and booked me on a sunday morning. I haven't bothered contacting them yet, will probably wait another week, but I think it will be the same.

Lora1982 · 09/05/2012 09:40

what a disapointment. went in waited for ages then the doctor just said i didn need to see a dr an to fill in a form and wait an the mw will contact me after 9 - 11 wks. All i got to show for it was two wee bottles and a bit o paper with a number on :-( what a let down :-D

Lora1982 · 09/05/2012 10:23

well they got back to me quick and made my appointment. hopefully this will be a more interesting one. Is it always with Surestart? i thought they were for low income families

MrsPear · 09/05/2012 12:11

You will probably find that the SureStart centre is where the appointments are held as that it is the only suitable venue in the area.

MrsPear · 09/05/2012 12:15

Littlemissimpatient where we live (South London) there really is no choice. I ended up taking 1/2 day holiday last time.

Fletch1 · 09/05/2012 12:25

Hi Everyone! I'm also having a January baby - well, according to online calculators it's coming anytime between 31st December and 5th January!!

Feeling not too bad so far. Although I suffer from extreme emetophobia so a bit panicky about MS - didn#t have any with my DD so fingers crossed I'll be the same this time around.

So good to be able to come on here and chat about it as we are not telling anyone until after the scan.

cogitosum · 09/05/2012 12:32

Congratulations everyone! Newbie here! POAS Friday morning (and Saturday and Sunday and yesterday!) BFP!
I went to dr yesterday - I think due date is 12th Jan... Does anyone know when first appointment with midwife is likely to be? Dr implied it'd be soon but NHS seems to suggest nothing til 8 - 12 weeks?

Fletch1 · 09/05/2012 16:33

cogitosum If I remember correctly from first time around, it'll be around the 12 weeks. First appointment we had was for the scan, which is a bit daunting as up until the point we were still doubting it! Although I'm in Scotland so if you are in England it might be different.

cogitosum · 09/05/2012 16:59

I hope it is... I'm so desperate for something to happen IYKWIM... Also don't think I'll fully believe it until I've seen a midwife! And have so many questions - I guess I'll be on here a lot!

SpringFlowers · 09/05/2012 17:50

Hello everyone...just peeking in. I did a cb digi test today and am pregnant too! It's very early days as af wasn't due until Fri or Sat so I am 3+4 I think. EDD 18th January. This is #4 - I have three dd's who are 13, 11 and 19 months. Lovely to see you all, I'll catch up with your news later!

ChutesTooNarrow · 09/05/2012 17:57

adding self. I think I am due 18th Jan. I have one DS who is 2.8 who still hasn't slept a whole night without waking several times. I am so excited about another child but I do NOT want to do the end of pregnancy and birth thing again. I am also still breastfeeding and expect I will be carrying on throughout pregnancy. Anyone else doing so?

Congratulations everyone and hello april, we were on the Sept 09 thread together and I saw your news on fb about ten minutes before I got my bfp!

kim222 · 09/05/2012 18:27

Got my positive test today from my docs who then gave me the community MW number, rang them and they said to call back in two weeks when I will be seven weeks. Bit of an anti climax :( cannot wait until my scan, don't think it will feel real until then!

Birdies · 09/05/2012 19:03

Congratulations everyone!! Anyone else feeling sick on and off? I didn't have that with my first and one minute I feel fine, the next sick (eating helps so I seem to be eating all day!!).

Midwife apmt not until 8 weeks. Very tempted to have a private scan at 7.5 weeks. Is anyone else having one? The only thing is though it'll be with Babybond who I've been to before which is fine but I don't fancy having an internal scan, just won't feel right outside of hospital iykwim. Who else is having an early scan? Any idea when they would definitely be able to see baby without doing an internal?

AprilMeadow · 09/05/2012 19:09

How exciting we get to this all again :)

We don't have our first mw appt until 8-10wks and when you are on 2+ they prefer it to be nearer 10wks.

Lora1982 · 09/05/2012 19:09

How long do the twingey parts last... its making me nervous. considering we have to wait so long for appointments and things its scarey cos i donknow whats going on in there or if its all ok.

AprilMeadow · 09/05/2012 19:21

It's very hard to say tbh. At 4wks the baby is the six of an orange seed, by the time it gets to 5wks its the size of a small pea and then by 6wks its the size of a blueberry. So all the twinges are just things starting to move around and stretch. If you are in a lot of discomfort then contact your surgery and ask to see the mw/dr. If nothing else they will put your mind at rest.

AprilMeadow · 09/05/2012 19:23

Birdies, I hada 9wk scan with my dc3 (dd2) and that was a regular scan. I think it might be too small at 7/8wks to pick up unless its an internal.

BuntyCollocks · 09/05/2012 19:55

Welcome and congrats, all!

birdies I had a scan with babybond at 7+0 by my dates, 6+5 by theirs, and I didn't need an internal scan. I'm also not a skinny Minnie! A good size 14 16 on a bad day

I've got one b

BuntyCollocks · 09/05/2012 19:58

Over eager there!

I've got one booked for 7+4 with this baby, which is next Saturday. I can't wait! I've had horrendous sickness up until I went to the dr about it this afternoon - typical. So now I'm worrying as its eased. Is there ever a time we don't worry? stupid, hypothetical question!

I can't remember who asked, but yes, would love a girl, as would DH. We actually have tried to 'sway' this time, there's a very strong male line with DH's side of the family, so we're hoping it's worked. However - another little scrummy boy would be lovely too!

BuntyCollocks · 09/05/2012 20:00

angel can't wait to hear the good news from your scan on Monday :)

cogitosum · 09/05/2012 20:17

I've just loooked at that babybond and if my NHS scan isn't until 10 - 12 weeks I think I'll go for it!
I thought I would be too early for MS (5 weeks) but I've been waking up in the early hours of the morning feeling sick... nothing for the rest of the day but it means I'm really tired the whole time!

Birdies · 09/05/2012 20:23

bunty I've been just the same - woke up not feeling sick. Had a little worry, did another test, decided the line wasn't strong enough (actually it was but I was being a wally!). Then I felt sick this afternoon. There's no winning really!

Oh good I might go for the scan then. I know I won't be able to wait for the NHS one, and the babybond one was nice last time as they allow much more time for the apmt and looking at baby.

pmgkt · 09/05/2012 20:58

just got midwifes appointment but not for another 2 weeks, and I know she wont do much and that it will be an anti climax. So much for MORNING sickness, mine is all through the night sickness and not much else but as with Cog i'm knackered. Didnt have any with DS1 so all new.

Littlemissimpatient · 09/05/2012 21:00

Now impound all got me thinking about a baby bond scan!! Just got to persuade DH! Got my gp next wk do I might wait to see what she suggests not sure if I'm eligible for early nhs scan after 2 mc?
I'm off on holiday end of month so it would put my mind at ease if I could have scan before I go.
