Thanks for the book recommendations. I shall have a look at them this afternoon. Off to docs for 11 then spending afternoon baking and decorating 160 cup cakes for a wedding tomorrow. Good job I don't have ms yet.

FoofFighter · 23/03/2012 08:20

7 weeks today :)

Slightly concerned at the feeling of AF coming again though.

DesperateHousewife21 · 23/03/2012 08:22

Crap night with ds last night, he's got a cold and teething and he was up wriggling and kicking the covers off us for nearly 2 hours. Dh slept on the sofa in the end.
But now I feel v tired and slightly ill myself.

At least I haven't got anything planned for today I can chill out. I think it's going to be such a big change when this baby comes along. We've just got ds sleeping fairly ok in his own room (when he's not ill or teething) I can't imagine being woken every couple of hours again

FoofFighter · 23/03/2012 08:26

Oh and butteries with Philly and golden syrupBlush rock!

FoofFighter · 23/03/2012 08:27

Just realised you won't all know what a buttery is... www.scottishrecipes.co.uk/butteries.htm

blonderthanred · 23/03/2012 08:31

Thanks apple. Your situation sounds difficult, I hope they're able to spread the workload more fairly. We've had trouble getting maternity cover for my boss but finally found someone who seems capable and enthusiastic so hopefully I won't have too much on my shoulders. Hope the same happens in your case.

I actually only started my role in Feb (although I have worked with the company for a few years) which is why I was worried, but to be fair my boss took her job knowing she was pregnant, so she could hardly criticise me when I didn't even know till a few weeks later. She also had difficulty ttc so I knew she would have some sympathy when I explained the situation.

Woke up in the night with the sorest breasts yet and then dreamt I was breastfeeding my friend's baby (very unsuccessfully!). Hmmm....

Chunkychicken · 23/03/2012 08:47

So 30mins after eating I feel sick again :( I literally cannot eat every 30 minutes throughout the day, my job just doesn't allow it!!

Not sure how I will cope working, with a 2yo & in the 3rd trimester - already struggling now!! Can't afford to take earlier maternity leave either, if I want to take as long as possible after. Didn't think this one through when TTC.

Luckily the job I have means I don't have to worry about cover - that's someone else's problem!! I'm a teacher, so its not like I'm irreplaceable & the HT is really understanding, she accepts that having a large female workforce of a certain age means a number of pg staff. It does seem to be a bit of a trend at the mo though - when I go on mat leave again, there will have been someone off on mat leave in our dept almost constantly for 2.5 years!!

Peaky1 · 23/03/2012 09:06

Horseylady - I run too. Only a couple of miles and it's more of a run/walk but it does really help at the time. Beware of the next day aches though!!!

Early scan for me today...eek!

FoofFighter · 23/03/2012 09:10

CHch can you not secrete some snacky foods in your desk drawer or in the supplies cupboard?

peaky good luck for your scan :)

Tiago · 23/03/2012 09:11

I believe, from the retching this morning, that m/s has finally arrived for me. On the one hand YAY as it makes me think thus pregnancy will work our. On the other hand - ugh!

Chunkychicken · 23/03/2012 10:00

I wish Foof but I teach science so eating in the lab is a strict no-no, not least because it looks hypocritical to the kids & makes it harder for me to maintain order/rules iyswim. I have 1.5hr lessons too!! :(

Thechick · 23/03/2012 10:13

I'm not sure if I'm a bit different to everyone else, but I feel, for me personally, it's way too soon to think about prams and cots and cars seats. I haven't even found out my due date. I am excited but i think cautious too, but not overly paranoid. Maybe its my age, I'm 38. Maybe when I'm about half way through or maybe after ther 12wk scan. Am I the only one who feels like this? I'm 5+3. Really hope im not busting anyones bubble. I love reading about what other people are doing at my stage.

A friend at work asked me where the baby would sleep and I told her in the room where the computer is right now (will take the computer out Smile) . She asked me if I was going to paint it and I told her the baby really isn't going to care what colour it is. She was really shocked. I think that kind of sums up my attitude lol

I'm not having any real symptoms just needing to use the toilet A LOT and every night when I take off my bra my boobs are feeling heavier. It still doesn't feel real.

Applepieinthesky I noticed was talking about doctors and moving and catchment areas. I moved to out of my doctors catchment area 2.5 yrs ago and gave them my new address and they didn't say I had to leave. Not sure if that's the norm or not.

Thechick · 23/03/2012 10:15

Oh and I'm crying at the drop of a hat!! My 13 yr old ds thinks I'm crazy!! lol

jaylee89 · 23/03/2012 10:27

morning ladies! congratulations thereistheball!!1 that is such exciting news!

well for the last two days ive had a craving for scampi fries (yuk) i used to bloody hate them but the last few days i cant get enough of them! i must stink????lol

sickness is a fooooker last couple of days especially on the nights it seems to really kick in. thats also when im most hungry :(

hope everyone is well 7 weeks tomorrow wooooo :)

horseylady · 23/03/2012 11:13

Chick I've looked at nothing either. I'll wait till at lest 20weeks x

DesperateHousewife21 · 23/03/2012 11:32

I've got ds' old stuff so if this one is a boy I've got plenty of clothes etc. even if it's a girl she'll still have the buggy, it's not v girly but I can get pink blankets!

But I'm not really thinking that far ahead, it's nice that we've got everything in the loft waiting already do that's good enough for me, I'll get it down when the baby is actually here.

FoofFighter · 23/03/2012 11:36

I like looking Blush and don't see any harm in it. What will be will be and you absolutely cannot jinx anything but simply looking (or buying for that matter)
I'm not going to buy anything until after the first scan though. We are on a budget so it'll be easier to spread it across more months than less.

horseylady · 23/03/2012 11:45

I agree about the jinx effect nothing will change. I just know I'd find it very hard if something was wrong and stuff was already there. I'm in no rush and got so much other stuff happening I've not had time to look lol. Mum ultra excited and I think will kit me and baby out anyway!! She's already found some maternity tops for me lol! What I can't decide on is whether or not to find out sex? I'm 50:50 at the moment! I'm not worried either way just keep thinking it'd be useful to know!! What are other peoples thoughts?

Tiago · 23/03/2012 11:51

I've only looked to check that it is still possible to buy non white unisex clothes, and to make sure baby lightsabers are available Grin

ValiumQueen · 23/03/2012 12:01

I have two girls, so would rather find out the sex so I can get used to the idea. Boy or girl, they would still wear pink stuff in the house, and sleep in pink bedding.

I hope to get a new pram. Never had a new pram.

I will not be having nucal test as I would not risk an amnio or indeed do anything if results were positive. What will be will be.

Bit of bleeding yesterday, but not worried as had the same thing with both girls.

If it is a boy, he will be Solomon as it has always been our only boy name.

ValiumQueen · 23/03/2012 12:03

Baby lightsabers? Linkey please Grin

FoofFighter · 23/03/2012 12:05

Ahh Tiago, you sound like my kind of person :) OH has nicknamed the baby "Widget" after the little Ewok Hmm not entirely sure I approve of that bit exactly but we are both big SW fans :)

FoofFighter · 23/03/2012 12:06

They don't tell us the gender at my hospital but I don't think I want to know anyway.

Re NT scans and bloods, not having them. DS is not the end of the world, my risk factor will be high purely on age and BMI anyway, and in our minds there are far more worrying conditions that simply cannot be tested for so until baby is here and well there's no guarantees anyway.

FoofFighter · 23/03/2012 12:09

VQ

Solomon is a lovely name :)
Like you I would be more worried at risk of miscarrying after an amnio/cvs and simply wouldn't be prepared to have one, so why waste the hospitals time and resources that could be freed up for someone else? That's how I see it anyway. When you are old and fat the HCPs are usually all full of doom and gloom generally anyway Hmm

NervousAt20 · 23/03/2012 12:12

I will deffo find oh the sex so I can get things ready and paint the room and stuff like that :)

Strange to have pasta at 10am??
