I forgot to write, my sinuses are playing up. I phoned the GP, and I can't take anything :( buggery.

WestWingCJ · 22/03/2012 20:12

Pizza and lucozade for dinner. Healthy. Not.

Stuntnun · 22/03/2012 20:16

TheDetective I know the pushchair you mean, I had that for DS1 too. Can't believe it was 10 years ago!

FatimaLovesBread · 22/03/2012 20:25

Has anyone decided whether they're going to have the nuchal translucency test at their dating scan? Or is it too early for most?

I've been thinking about painting the spare room, bought some testers in brights colours yesterday to try out Smile

Little9 · 22/03/2012 20:38

Hello all. Have started to feel slightly nauseous (can't spell, sorry!) over the last few days at various times during the day. Will be 8 weeks tomorrow (fingers crossed). Still have this damn cough but at least my neck doesn't hurt anymore.

Was thinking of getting some sort of sling as am usually very active person. Will also need an all-terrain buggy of some sort for dog bothering (as my husband calls it)!

I am also a boob-prodder. Have to check every night when they are unleashed from the over-the-shoulder-boulder-holder that they are still hurting. And by golly, they still are. Now up to 34DD (was 34C before). I'm only 5 foot tall, so will they soon be as wide as I am tall. :o

Am still constantly in need of my bed but at least it's only one more day til lie-in. Yay!!

Ooo, congratulations to thereistheball (that is surprisingly difficult to type without spaces, LOL!). How exciting!!

Evilwater · 22/03/2012 20:41

Fatima- I'm having that scan and it's in two weeks. I can't wait as it is my first scan.

EW

DesperateHousewife21 · 22/03/2012 20:49

Oh forgot to say I'm re-reading the mn preg book, it's not hugely detailed but is quite a lighthearted overview of each trimester and what to expect at each stage.
There are hilarious quotes from mnetters it's a good read even if you're not preg!

FatimaLovesBread · 22/03/2012 21:04

I think i'm going to just have the dating scan and not have the NT test. DH and I wouldn't do anything about it if it came back as high chance

Chunkychicken · 22/03/2012 21:16

Will do the test again this time as we did last time Fatima. Not sure what we'd do if there was a higher than normal risk but figure forewarned is forearmed & guess I would like to know the risks in advance - I mean, I haven't researched it, but is it possible for Downs or other inherited conditions to carry a greater risk of mc or perhaps problems during labour? Anyway, I'm not in a high risk group (as far as I'm aware) & will cross that particular bridge when I come to it!!

Sooo disappointed not to have any boob growth yet. Seriously, when they were a decent size, pg ruined them. Now they're mere shadows of their former glory & not a sausage... Life huh??!!!

applepieinthesky · 22/03/2012 21:16

I haven't discussed the NT test with DP yet but I don't think I want it for the same reasons as you fatima

applepieinthesky · 22/03/2012 21:22

Do we get notification of the scan appointment through the post?

I'm a bit concerned because I have recently moved out of the catchment for my doctors but I don't want to register with the one which is closer.

This means the address they have on record for me is wrong. Will this be a problem??

Tiago · 22/03/2012 21:26

If we get that far, I won't be having the NT test either Fatima. I don't see any reason as I would not terminate and if it came back high risk I'd just spend the next 6 months stressing about it.

Tiago · 22/03/2012 21:28

applepie - the appointment notification (and other things including the card proving you are entitled to free prescriptions, etc) will all come through the post. You need to update your address/arrange to have your post forwarded/change doctor I'm afraid.

applepieinthesky · 22/03/2012 21:31

I thought that might be the case. My mum lives in the catchment so I can just change my address to hers.

Might mean I have to tell her sooner than planned though.

Elizadoesdolittle · 22/03/2012 21:38

I had the NT test done when pregnant with DD and I will be doing so again this time.

Am currently sorting out my spare room and packing everything away in preparation for getting it painted and moving my DD in there. Was planning on doing this anyway as she'll need a big bed soon and she's only in the small room at the moment whereas our spare room is much bigger. I'm looking forward to doing it up nicely for her but we are also looking at moving towards the end of the year so not going to spend too much on it!

My boobs are starting to ache...yay a pregnancy sign! Although they are a H cup (yikes!) and I am only a 30 round the back so I'm hoping they don't get any bigger. Perhaps just fill out a bit so they aren't so droopy Blush

DesperateHousewife21 · 22/03/2012 21:47

Just asked dh and he wants the NT test, so do I. We had it for ds and the risk was minuscule and tbh I think it will be this time just because of my age but it's nice to have it in writing.

thereistheball · 22/03/2012 21:48

Thanks for the good wishes everyone. I have a bunch of blood tests in the morning and can't have any food or drink for 10 hours beforehand. Not sure how I'm going to manage - I get the shakes if I don't eat first thing, and even typing this now has made me really thirsty. One illicit swig of water then bed, I think.

blonderthanred · 22/03/2012 22:25

Well I had to tell work sooner than planned today - they decided to do some quite heavy manual-based training and I couldn't think of anything to explain why I couldn't do it.

Boss is preggers so was v happy for me & understanding although at the same time I know it will be inconvenient for the company so I felt really nervous.

Our dating scan is booked for 13th week so I think they plan to check the nuchal fold then. I am higher risk because of age but I don't think we'd have any further test, just make additional preparations.

V excited that following my docs appt I now have a scan booked next Weds (8 weeks). V v nervous too of course.

applepieinthesky · 22/03/2012 22:45

blonderthanred I'm glad your boss is pleased for you. It must make you feel better if you were anxious about it.

It's also inconvenient timing for the company where I work. Another lady is going on maternity leave in June. They are having a nightmare trying to find suitable maternity cover and it's likely our department will have to take on some of her work when we are struggling with workloads as it is.

So I can't imagine having to do my normal job plus take on some of her work and train someone to do my job. Dreading it already.

Iheartpasties · 22/03/2012 23:34

book I would recommend this book and also i second what someone else said, the ina may book is fab.

I was quite glad to read about someone else having a fast birth! I feel less alone. I don't know anyone in RL who had a fast birth so it's hard to find advice about what to expect this time around :)

wellieboots · 23/03/2012 04:08

Please somebody tell me I am mentalling with no good reason! I toppled over crossing the road at lunchtime (I'm down under so very different time zone). I toppled backwards which at the time I thought was a good thing. But now I'm worried about bashing myself and causing an mc!

Chunkychicken · 23/03/2012 06:07

You are worrying for no reason wellieboots!! Just make sure you see a good chiropractor or osteopath to check you haven't put your back/hips out which could make it painful. My Mum fell onto her bum on ice & it caused no end of bother & she wasn't preg then... the embryo is well protected inside your pubic bone so its doing fine.

FatimaLovesBread · 23/03/2012 06:45

I've just had a rubbish nights sleep with worrying about misscarrying.
I suffer from health anxiety so I don't think that helps. I just keep think its going to happen and then we're going to have to wait and go through the IVF all over again.
I know it's a small chance compared to all the people who have successful pregnancies, it's just in the back of my mind. Roll on scan day, hopefully it will put my mind at rest

horseylady · 23/03/2012 07:27

Think i might attempt a run today in a bid to energise myself. Hardly done anything in three or four weeks and wonder if it might just pick me up. Was sick last night as well :( slept really badly :(

Iheartpasties · 23/03/2012 07:29

Hi wellieboots, I'm also Down Under :) I don't think you will have hurt your little bean, try not to worry, but I hope you have not hurt your back/bum! I had a painful back after i gave birth to dd a year ago and I wish I had looked after my back more in pregnancy as it was just awful. I'm hoping this time around to try and hold myself differently so that I don't wreck my back. We'll see.

Hi FatimaLovesBread, bless you try not to let it all get to you too much. I think most of us have a slight worry about a mc, it seems fairly normal in early pregnancy. You will hopefully be fine and when you get to 12 weeks you might have to try and train yourself to feel positive. It's great when you can enjoy your pregnancy and not be too nervous.
