Okay, so I have finally started the new thread.
All right everyone?

I have been awake most of the night with contractions of some sort or another. A really tight bump for most of the night. Things seem to have a settled down a bit but I've had a lovely brown globular show this morning. Contractions are still niggling but my midwife said it is fairly easy to 'put the lid on them' at this stage with a bath and some painkillers to give myself a little more time. Basically, she's not ready, dh is not ready and I'm still not ready yet...
I will be by tonight though. Have decided I need to put my stuff in it's bag and sort out house today. So here goes....

4b1p - it's the size of the head that's important, not the weight - maybe you'll get a long, skinny 9lber, with a small head!
Keep on telling yourself that
Oh, and that midwives are often wrong about size prediction.

4blue1pink · 02/02/2006 17:48

My dh said the same Jasnem and I bollocked him saying ' so speaketh a man!' he said ' no - an optimist!' However you are right and mine do not have large heads and are usually quite long!

MrsDoolittle · 02/02/2006 18:12

You start to feel better once the head is engaging. Baby drops down into your pelvis and generally gives you more room to breathe and eat. I remember that with dd.
However, this time round the head is unlikely to engage until last minute so he's floating around.Sometimes I feel better, other times I don't and the heartburn is awful.
Anyway, I'm sure baby bumped his head on my cervix as I was walking to the station. I suddenly felt this sharp jab as I was walking, had me doubled over in pain. Ouch!!

Evening ladies. Back from my afternoon with NCT ladies and babies now. Managed to acquire some RLT from one of them, as they have no need for it now, so had my first 2 cups today. Also had very ripe pineapple in fruit salad, though perhaps not enough to have any effect.

There wasn't a generic sign in for the yahoo pics, I think so that we could keep some form of security. You have to create a yahoo account if you don't already have one, though you don't need to create one of their e-mail accounts. It only takes a couple of mins to register if I remember correctly.

Chloe - so pleased that you made the comment about the TENS machine. I tried mine out yesterday to make sure we knew how it worked, and found it v irritating! Posted about it on my other forum, and a few people said that it is better in labour when their is a pain to address than just trying it on its own. They did all stress the need to start using it v v early in labour though, so not sure how I manage that when also planning to have bath to ease labour pains!

Am knackered now, so no energy to type any more!

Flamesparrow · 02/02/2006 19:05

Oooh you've all been chatting lots today. Sorry for all those with unsuccessful midwife appointments! I've not got another one til next Friday (10th), so no updates from me.

Wanna kill DH - he decided that giving DD a yoghurt to eat while laying down on the sofa wrapped up in a blanket was a good idea ... Blanket now in the wash, and poor DD all confused at why mummy shouted!

Excitin news here.... you remember how my stepsister got pregnant? Her 19 year old sister has now announced that she is pregnant too... due 2 weeks after the first one is due!!!!!!!!!!!

Frizbetheexpansionset · 02/02/2006 19:46

Crikey they're all at it over your way Flame totally agree re dh, they just don't think sometimes, doh! Haven't a clue about my weight and don't want one either

Mrs D, Tabs, 3k, Hotmama, Chloe, 4b1p and Helen, I'm so sure your all going to kick off together over this weekend that'd be a good batch of babies

Helen, I reckon stuff it carry the hoover upstairs and back down, could kick you off

No midwife news from me this week either, they're coming to me on monday, as 37 week homevisit apparently?! for homebirths only.....

Frizbetheexpansionset · 02/02/2006 19:47

Oh also have crappy cold, so not expecting any action on the baby front anytime soon, just gona cuddle up with honey and orange now...

MrsDoolittle · 02/02/2006 20:03

I'm wondering if something is about to kick off. Remember that jab on my cervix I talked about, well it's just come again. Infact, I am experiencing a very deep internal pain unlike anything else up until now...........

And another thing, do I get a bounty pack in a community hospital?

OP posts:
Flamesparrow · 02/02/2006 21:03

Think you get a bounty pack pretty much everywhere - even get a homebirth one.

4blue1pink · 02/02/2006 22:11

Having my pineapple now so watch this space!

Frizbetheexpansionset · 02/02/2006 22:17

Do you really Flame fab, hope they still have the extra pack of wipes in like last time silly I know, but when you realise how many wipes you get thru it all helps!

Frizbetheexpansionset · 02/02/2006 22:18

Good luck Mrs D, if your on your way!

Flamesparrow · 02/02/2006 22:20

So I've been led to believe anyway... I'll be very bitter if I don't now!!!

jolly4 · 02/02/2006 22:57

sweetkitty · 02/02/2006 23:02

Just wanted to pop in to say best of luck to all those waiting for their precious bundles, my DD is a week old now and is utterly adorable well worth the wait and all the pain!

IMHO forget the pineapple, clary sage, raspberry leaf tablets, curry and sex they just make you more anxious when the little blighters still don't want to come out.

Look forward to all the Feb announcements

Jasnem · 02/02/2006 23:27

Mrs D - let us know what happens, and good luck!

Flamesparrow · 03/02/2006 05:24

Got all excited... woke with tummy ache, got my hopes up that this baby was going to go against all my worries and come early all by itself... and promptly threw up last night's korma

Tummy ache gone, all I'm left with is a sinus headache where it all went down my tubes Can't sleep now because my head is pounding too much!!!!

Helen38 · 03/02/2006 08:31

Flame hope feeling better.

Chloe, DS1 was born with hand on his head, used to sleep that way so i guess we woke him I had a few stitches but he came oout fine and he had a big head!!!!

hoovered the stairs already this morning might have to do upstairs later

hotmama · 03/02/2006 08:35

Flame - not nice!

Obviously, I am still here.

Do you know I am beginning to be getting really pi*sed off of having BHs. Last night they were strong and painful - I had a comedy bump - it really was like a watermelon - really hard and soooo forward. I also then started having strong but short contraction feelings at the bottom of my uterus - got my hopes up again and then nothing during the night.

I feel like the boy that called wolf IYKWIM

Any news Mrs D?

Hope everything is going well for everybody - come on we haven't had births for a while!

Helen38 · 03/02/2006 09:22

Knew I was faking it[

Still got the period pains but that's about it other than my usual bh i am going to get so grumpy if i am on and off like this for weeks.

Any babies?????

Frizbetheexpansionset · 03/02/2006 09:28

I'm telling you Helen and Hotmama, your both going to have these babies, soooo fast, all this gearing up is bound to be doing things, well done on the hoovering as well Helen, I struggled to get out of bed today, have throat from hell..booooo.....so with that and dd's massive snot production, we make a right pair!
Sorry about the curry Flame

Tabs · 03/02/2006 09:40

Morning ladies. Just a quickie to say no overnight baby here. Off to m/w this morning so will post again when I'm back.

Flamesparrow · 03/02/2006 09:56

I was awake til 6 and then managed to doze off again... DD has been a star and let me sleep on the sofa while she played nicely (ok, so she woke me because her hands were sticky where she'd been eating the chocolates again, but she'd been being so good, I didn't care!!!) Thumping head now though

Sorry to hear you're all still here and fed up. I got sooo excited in the night when I had stomach pain (even though I tried not to get excited)... even half hoped I was just being sick as early labour, but apparantly not!!!

Gonna hoover a bit later too, and taking DD to a mumsnet meetup this afternoon - it'll be good to get her out for a bit with other children!

Chloe55 · 03/02/2006 10:50

Morning girls, still here too

The comment about crying wolf is so funny because I keep telling DH that I am sure something is gonna happen soon and he is on and off awake with me through the night because I can't do anything quietly anymore like rolling over or going to the toilet because everything is so painful. Have had a few weepy episodes through the night too, probably because I am so fed up with all these pains but no labour but also because the BHs are becoming increasingly more painful. Had to practice the breathing technique last night as I automatically was breathholding due to the strength of the BH and DH caught me not relaxing through it

Also, dreamt I had a show so was a little excited when I woke up but no, still nothing. I am at a dinnerparty on Sat night, there'll be 4 other couples there (all good friends), curry is on the menu - what's the betting I go into labour whilst I'm there - which I don't fancy doing!!
