Okay, so I have finally started the new thread.
All right everyone?

I have been awake most of the night with contractions of some sort or another. A really tight bump for most of the night. Things seem to have a settled down a bit but I've had a lovely brown globular show this morning. Contractions are still niggling but my midwife said it is fairly easy to 'put the lid on them' at this stage with a bath and some painkillers to give myself a little more time. Basically, she's not ready, dh is not ready and I'm still not ready yet...
I will be by tonight though. Have decided I need to put my stuff in it's bag and sort out house today. So here goes....

I guess it's harder in a way for those of you at the end of the month, as by then you'll have had all the excitement of our births, and will be feeling left out! At least at the beginning of the month we haven't had to feel like that (although have been reading the Jan thread!).

Flame - no way I could have been whinging for 3 weeks already - I hadn't even given up work 3 weeks ago remember!

Bump seems to be hard more than not hard this afternoon, but not starting down low, so guess it's just BH. Always was one for last minute practice .

Chloe55 · 04/02/2006 14:29

Been to take the dog for a walk/waddle round the dam today with DH and all I can say is....ouch! Within about 10 mins of walking started getting bad ligament pains and strong BH. Managed to get about 1/2 way then had to turn round but just want to rip DH's head off! It was his suggestion for me to go and all I got was 'god, do you always have to make such an issue when you are in a bit of discomfort' and 'you walk further than this round the house so stop being a drama queen'. All this has put me in a bad mood because I'd love for him to see how well he copes with pain when you are tired/ratty and fed-up Honestly, I am just so pissed off that he feels like I exaggerate because all this is totally alien to me and it bloody hurts - a bit of sympathy/support wouldn't go amiss - dickhead. Sorry, rant over.

cuffyj1 · 04/02/2006 15:39

Just attempted walking in town but my back started killing within a few steps so just got a few b'day cards i needed and came back home. So with back pain, heartburn increase, feeling a bit sick, my bump keep goin rock hard (no pain tho) and a few people commenting my bump has dropped a friend is convinced i'm in slow (very slow if u ask me) labour. Wot does anyone think?

I'm off to bed for a bit now while dh watches rugby.

Jasnem · 04/02/2006 15:55

Cuffy - sounds hopeful, but I've no idea how long it could last. I'm an all or nothing kind of girl when it comes to labour. Hoping something kicks off soon though.

Chloe - Grrr at your DH. Have you tried waking him up every time you get up, and making him carry a three stone rucksack with him day and night?

Just put the baby seat in the car (just in case) and am not sure it's such a great fit, but not really sure what to do. It's one that goes backwards and forwards, and doesn't seem to like going backwards in our car. I really don't want to have to buy another one.

Hi everyone and hope you are all OK. I sympathise hugely with everyone at the end of their pregnancy. It's such an uncomfortable time. Fingers crossed that things will start moving along for everyone soon.
Can't quite believe that today is Alexander's due date - he seems to have been part of the family for ages even though he's only 10 days old. He's very content, doesn't really cry too much. He's just at that lovely sleepy, milky stage and is feeding really well. Some days I feel like I have a sofa strapped to my back and Alex strapped to the breast! He really seems to enjoy bathtime and massage - very cuddly boy. The girls are very taken with him although they have both been a little unsettled at night. I think it will all settle down soon. So we're doing fine.

MrsDoolittle · 04/02/2006 17:51

Chloe - you have all my sympathy. Dh has just pi**ed me off big time. I had just made a spag. bol., we had all eaten it and I was doing the washing up. I really needed to sit down though, and I mean, I really needed to sit down. Dh was dawdling and I asked him to hurry up drying up because I needed to sit down. Suddenly he burst out that he was fed up with all my whinging and whining. He really has no idea, the git, I'm so angry at him

It's been an eventful day for me, I guess. I was up until 4 am with painful Bh and general backache and discomfort, making up for my exceptionally good night previously. Anyway, finally I dropped off to sleep sitting almost up right in bed, it was the only position that was comfortable. I woke at 8 am still before dh. Got up and my tummy was rock hard and I could hardly walk for backache. So as you can imagine I was feeling pretty crap getting up this morning.
I contacted the hospital to arrange a TENS machine and dh and I agreed that is what we were going to do, although he asked if he could walk the dog first. No problem. However, the git disappears for an hour!!! leaving me with a demanding toddler that was really trying my patience.
I got myself checked out and we discover that my cervix is effacing and probably 2-3cm dilated, so the midwife did a membrane sweep. That was probably 3 hours ago now. So we shall see.
Not much to report at the moment as I still just have a rigid, painful bump and I'm beginning to feel knackered.
Think I'll give dd another half an hour then I'm going to bath her and put her to bed. Then I'm very tempeted to go myself. I'm NOT going to sit down with dh

Sorry for the whinging peeps. I'm finding it very cathartic though

Well, What is it with the men in our lives?!
I do feel for you, Mrs D. Here's hoping you get a good night's sleep tonight, and things start up for you tomorrow.

Frizbetheexpansionset · 04/02/2006 19:11

Crikey, agree with Jas, what's with the men today, do you think they're all panicking re what's to come?? {{{{{Big Hugs}}}}} to Mrs D, Chloe and Cuffy, hope you all get a better nights sleep and your dh's are in better moods tomorrow....
Mine has been ensconsed (SP) upstairs all day, alledgedly sorting his stuff out, although I can see a few boxes having moved out of new bumps room, it's not in the quantity I was hoping for......thus dd and I have been doing our thing together all day, which considering I have a stinking cold, hasn't been too bad, she's been quite good with me, tidying up her stuff when asked, and I ran us both (or all three ) a bath, to help my breathing get better, so she had fun balancing ducks on bump and watching them get shoved/kicked off! glad she's just gone to bed tho, as feel totally rotten, dh hasn't said much, think he's wisely keeping out the way...

Good luck tonight to all those who are due, hotmama, you've not posted, so hope your doing the biz!

cuffyj1 · 04/02/2006 19:18

Still getting back ache even when i'm sitting on sofa so u never know something might be happening.

Had about an hour in bed then just as i was getting up we had a power cut its just come back on so we've been sat in dark (with a few candles)for nearly 2 hours. God knows wot they did in the olden days.

Frizbetheexpansionset · 04/02/2006 19:40

made babies cuffy have a bath and see what happens with your backache, it can sometimes speed things up!

4blue1pink · 04/02/2006 21:25

Just wish we did not have all this - is it? isn't it? bit at the end - no one can fully relax and every twinge makes me all ' on the alert' its annoying!

hotmama · 04/02/2006 21:55

Evening girls!

Well I am still here - still not in labour - I am getting so pissed off! I am now 6 days late - I sooo do not want to be induced.

I would have told that old woman to f*@k off in no uncertain terms - especially in the mood I am at the moment.

Just watched Dodgeball on Sky - pmsl! ]grin]

Hope someone gives birth soon.

3k · 05/02/2006 00:11

Hi All,

I'm still here too, had some bad period type pains again today but they never lead to anything. Still waiting.........

Fingers crossed one of us goes into labour soon, we need some more baby news on here!!

4blue1pink · 05/02/2006 00:17

i cannot believe that old bat......

3k · 05/02/2006 00:25

Me neither, perhaps she never had kids and is bitter!

TicTac · 05/02/2006 00:25

I am here too ladies but only because DH is having yet another good night sleep while DD has given up on sleeping. She is so over tired but gets really uncomfortable when she has a poo to deliver she just screams. Of course she is now fast asleep, DH is snoring his head off and I am too awake to think about bed!

i think I am in for a long night so it would be lovely if one ofyou, just one, could post that your waters ahd gone or something exciting

3k · 05/02/2006 00:43

Ahhh, fingers crossed for you TicTac that your little bubba will sleep solidly for you and you get a good nights sleep. I wish I could post that my waters have gone!!!!!!

How is the BF going? Have you found motherhood easy to settle into? You sound so natural from your messages I hope I will be the same as you.

Morgan · 05/02/2006 03:23

Hi all. My waters have broken at 6.30 am here (2.30am uk)yikes! Just got out of bed and had a burst of water - last time this happened too and it took 48 hrs to the birth. Am sitting tight at home while dh takes ds to school and will then finish sorting out bags and phone the doc i think and see what he says. When i visited the hospital they seemed quite keen on you going in as soon as anything happens but i would rather stay at home for a bit.

Tabs · 05/02/2006 08:19

Oh Morgan - how exciting! There's everyone wanting some middle of the night news, and then it looks like no-one else was online when you posted!

Don't suppose you'll see this before you have your little one in your arms, but if you do, then best of luck, and make sure you tell us all about it as soon as you can. xx

Tabs · 05/02/2006 08:21

Should add that there's absolutely zip happening here! Decent night's sleep though, so if she could manage to come this morning then I might actually have enough energy for labour!

cuffyj1 · 05/02/2006 09:14

Some excitement at last Morgan! Not from me tho back pains have gone and apart from waking every couple of hours for toilet i've slept really well.

How long do they leave you before inducing, is it 10 or 14 days?

TicTac · 05/02/2006 09:29

Morgan - good luck hun, can't wait to see you on our post natal thread.

3K - BF is going really well!! No pain or discomfort, DD latches on well. It just takes so long out of your day! I can easily spend about 8 hours in a 24 hour period BF...it takes a bit of time to settle her after a feed too.

Peyia is so diddy though she can't take a big feed.

I love being a mum but I do doubt myself in the middle of the night

You will be fine 3K...

Jasnem · 05/02/2006 09:53

Good luck Morgan, hope to hear baby news soon!
Just noticed, you're due after me...not fair!

Cuffy, I think the policy varies by health authority-I was told 12 days for me before major intervention.

The DDs have decidedthey need to help me more. I got breakfast in bed today. Very dry jam sandwiches and water, as I couldn't think of anything else safe to suggest. Just wished they weren't so mean with the jam.
DD1 is now washing up.
