Okay, so I have finally started the new thread.
All right everyone?

I have been awake most of the night with contractions of some sort or another. A really tight bump for most of the night. Things seem to have a settled down a bit but I've had a lovely brown globular show this morning. Contractions are still niggling but my midwife said it is fairly easy to 'put the lid on them' at this stage with a bath and some painkillers to give myself a little more time. Basically, she's not ready, dh is not ready and I'm still not ready yet...
I will be by tonight though. Have decided I need to put my stuff in it's bag and sort out house today. So here goes....

I've tried the mumsnet/netters sign in but Yahoo is saying this username and password is invalid so I'm with you Teuch - gladly await some help please.

Off to midwife now, hoping she tells me he is on his way. Have just eaten a full bowl of pineapple, firstly coz I want this baby out and secondly because I have no other food in the house

Chloe55 · 02/02/2006 15:33

Well just got back from midwife and don't really know what to think. She couldn't feel baby that well as I was having very strong BH at time but she could tell that he was still head down but he had a hand up against his face. I forgot my notes and noticed she had written he was 4/5ths engaged - arrrgghhh!!! He was 2/5ths engaged nearly 2 weeks ago so what is all that about! I asked her why he wasn't as far into the pelvis now and she told me not to worry, baby was in good position and strong BH/tummyache could be a sign that he is on his way soon. She did then point out to me that it could go on like this for quite a while yet though and to just stay positive. Oh, and she wants to see me in a fortnight - I pointed out that was after my due date so she said just to make a hospital appointment. I thought I'd at least be seeing her again before my due date? Oh well, I guess if I don't need to then there's no point. Seeing her today hasn't put me in a better mood anyway so maybe it is a good thing! I'd like to point out though that she is a lovely lady

MrsDoolittle · 02/02/2006 15:58

Still here ladies.
Infact, I'm at work!!! But making everyone nervous
I was sure it was all kicking off yesterday. A substantial show in the morning and then a bath, then......NOTHING! It all stopped. How annoying
Poor dh, he hates all this apprehension.

Helen, I shall be taking the hoover upstairs tomorrow and for all the reasons that we shouldn't when pregnant. I want to get things going.

Actually, atleast being at work takes my mind of it. I was getting really miserable yesterday afternoon because I'd been getting excited in the morning. If one can get excited about going into labour!!

Chloe55 - my dd1 went down and then came back up again - disheartening isn't it - though she did eventually come out!

Just been on a nice walk with dd1 in her pushchair - better than sitting down moping I thought.

Where is everybody else?

4blue1pink · 02/02/2006 16:08

Hi Ladies glad to see i am not the only one still here! Just tried to nap but builders were drilling next door ( helpful timing!)

been to midwife 9 haven't we all (!) who said bab only 1/5 engaged but i am not stressing as thats normal. She laughed at me as she commented that ds had shoes on the wrong feet and i said i knew but was past caring!

She said bab felt average ....then added 'well GOOD average' i said 'late 8's?' she said '9's'

That does not sound average so i am in a frenzy.

Off downstairs for RLT ( strong cup (( two bags))) and pinapple which has been ripening for a week. Tonight dp is getting a treat and lets see what tomorrow brings.....9lbs scares me!!!!

hotmama · 02/02/2006 16:16

4blue1pink - 1/5 means nearly engaged as in 4/5's in - did she mean this or that the little one is only just in i.e. 4/5? Hope for you it is 1/5.

I know how you feel about the weight issue. As I have already posted, dd1 was 8.10 and I think dd2 is going to be a 9lber - and getting bigger every day that I am overdue.

One thing I found out my hosp appt yesterday is that when delivering dd1 my legs had to be hunched to get her shoulders out - I didn't know this. At the time I thought I just had a forceps delivery and tbh had no idea what they were doing - so I am now crapping it even more thinking that dd2 could be bigger!

4blue1pink · 02/02/2006 16:18

No 4/5 free!

hotmama · 02/02/2006 16:20

Same as me then - I was thinking "You lucky bugger"

4blue1pink · 02/02/2006 16:20

So far mine were 7lbs 10,8 lbs 8, 8 lbs11, and 8 lbs10 sooooo should be close but not holding my breath!

Chloe55 · 02/02/2006 16:25

Quick question - if my baby has his hand on his face does that mean he will go down my pelvic canal in this position? What I'm trying to say is could he try to come out arm first?

4blue1pink · 02/02/2006 16:27

Hotmama are you doing any 'home- inducements' (A gynacologist friend of mine swears by home - sweeps - infact i have a few friends do!!!))

hotmama · 02/02/2006 16:28

Like Superman! Don't know might he just be a bit shy?

hotmama · 02/02/2006 16:30

4blue1pink - stupid question but how do you do a home sweep? - I'm not sure if I could reach and if I could wouldn't be sure what I was doing IYKWIM - any advice is gratefully received at this point.

Chloe55 · 02/02/2006 16:30

Ha ha ha, I'm glad I've got mumsnet to cheer me up. He isn't being shy though I bet he is cosying down thinking hmmmmmm, this is warm, might just have a little sleep, she'll just have to wait a bit.........zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

MrsDoolittle · 02/02/2006 16:36

Yes tell... a home sweep?
I've had 'a feel around' but I can't reach my cervix!! Maybe TMI

OP posts:
ixel · 02/02/2006 16:42

Hello. Just checking in for the sake of it really, as nothing is happening, which is a really depressing thing to report! Not even the annual mortgage statement coming in the post could shock me into labour

Jasnem · 02/02/2006 17:09

Hi, nothing interesting here, either. This one is also 1/5 engaged (4/5free), but I was quite pleased with that as it has always been totally free until now.

I'm all ears for more info on "home sweeping" . I too can't even find my cervix, it's so far back (sorry if TMI).

Out for a curry with friends tonight - not a hot labour inducing one, though. I've decided today that as I've got a whole month to go into labour naturally, I'm not even going to think about my due date any more, but just enjoy yhe last few weeks of being pregnant.
For some reason, I feel alot better now than I did a month ago.

Oh, as far as the Yahoo thing goes, I know that if you have another accout (eg email), that will interfere with it and you have to log out of any others first. It took me ages the first time, but now I log in with my email account and password. Probably no help, maybe Tabs can offer more advice (assuming she's not otherwise engaged having a baby).

4blue1pink · 02/02/2006 17:11

TBH i feel the same as you - not sure i could reach but this gynae friend said she did it with two out of three of hers. Another very close friend told me she did it and went into labour 5 hours later and i know she did it herself 'cos she told me' Do NOT tell dh he would kill me'

I can only imagine its a cervical rummage around!!! I think friend said she did it in the bath!

Hotmama - yours sounds hopeful with the bleeds!

My pics were not good but I do think people expect me to look 900 when i say i have four /five children...... I like to think of myself as

  1. the same age as Kylie
  2. ten years younger than madonna!
4blue1pink · 02/02/2006 17:12

NB Actually supping RLT now!

cuffyj1 · 02/02/2006 17:14

I'm still here too with no sign wotsoever of this baby ever coming out.

My mw thinks my baby is at least 9lb too and i'm scared. Dh's sis has 4 kids and they were all big, 1st was 10lb, next was 8lb, then 9lb and then another 10lb.

I've just been in the bath and shaved my legs and bikini line AGAIN. Hoping this will be the last time before labour cos its so difficult with a bump!

Pineapple isn't working for me but lets hope it does for u others that r eating it. I'm sick of the sight of it i must have eaten 20 in last 3-4 weeks

Chloe55 · 02/02/2006 17:14

What does your cervix feel like? In fact, not sure I could actually get my fingers up there - find it hard enough to wash and wipe - sorry if TMI!!!

cuffyj1 · 02/02/2006 17:16

I agree with u chloe.

4blue1pink · 02/02/2006 17:18

mmm me too but i trust my friends.....someone must be able to thats what they do in sweeps...

Thats depressing - here's me hoping one mouthful of the sacred fruit will work magic............

Jasnem · 02/02/2006 17:24

I know non-pregnant cervix feels a bit like the tip if your nose (a long time ago I used a cap for contraception, so got to know these things)
I've been told that now it should feel softer, more like lips, with or without central dip

Don't really know if that helps, or not tbh, as I still can't find mine, so it's fairly irrelevant!

Can't face the thought of pineapple at all, or sex, so will just wait for this one, I think.

4blue1pink · 02/02/2006 17:33

Yeah Jas - I was happy to wait before the size became an issue.......
