Okay, so I have finally started the new thread.
All right everyone?

I have been awake most of the night with contractions of some sort or another. A really tight bump for most of the night. Things seem to have a settled down a bit but I've had a lovely brown globular show this morning. Contractions are still niggling but my midwife said it is fairly easy to 'put the lid on them' at this stage with a bath and some painkillers to give myself a little more time. Basically, she's not ready, dh is not ready and I'm still not ready yet...
I will be by tonight though. Have decided I need to put my stuff in it's bag and sort out house today. So here goes....

Keep us all informed then flame! here's hoping at least one of us kicks off tonight

ixel · 15/02/2006 20:33

Jasnem... of course I'm still here. No chance of this baby coming out! Like yours, its nowhere near engaged, so the midwife wouldn't even do a sweep yesterday.
Dh left for work at midday, with the reassuring phrase 'dont worry, I can get home in an hour and a half if you need me'. !!??!! Then I fell asleep on the sofa whilst ds created havoc around me. Strapped him in his booster seat all afternoon and made him do cutting and sticking while I drank tea and daydreamed!

Got to go to hospital again tomorrow AM, so might actually get a sweep. And prob a date for a planned section. Yuck.

4blue1pink · 15/02/2006 21:07

Hi Girls...just a quickie!

My baby boy 8lbs 8 0z as yet unamed was born after much bolshiness - two sweeps and an epidural ( four natural ....one delightful!)

Any one not had epidural go for it - the best!

Valentines day baby - lovely all chilled but very tired.

Will post more later good luck to you all!

ixel · 15/02/2006 21:16

... but with a touch of . I'm going to be last, aren't I?

MrsDoolittle · 15/02/2006 21:36

Oh my God Flame, I'm excited for you. Hope everything is going okay.
DS is asleep in my new moby sling, he's absolutely gorgeous but is suffering terribly with colic. I have been up night for all 3 nights he has been at home. Poor darling. I have started on the colief yesterday, last night was pretty traumatic, so we shall see what happens tonight, I have to say I'm pretty shattered by still euphoric
Braved Tescos with dm this afternoon and people seemed quite shocked that I was out so soon. However, I wouldn't admit it to dm but after a couple of hours I felt myslef hit the wall and found that I was really struggling to oput one leg infront of the other and my pubis was really uncomfortable. I really must not forget to keep up with the paracetamol.
I also ought to be getting what few hours I can in bed!!
Well Good luck ladies, I'm watching you. It's lovely keeping with all the births. I'm looking forward to your online labour Flame!

Thing seem to have slowed down again I am still having twinges, but not as strong. Have spent all day trying to stay non-excited, but after so many hours of regular twinges, my hopes were starting to rise....

Off for that bath I threatened ages ago, and a sleep. Feel all bunged up with cold and miserable.

Oooh, YAY though to 4B1P Sooo pleased for you!!!!

Helen38 · 16/02/2006 07:57

Morning

YAY!!!!! congrats to 4p1b, glad you've had him and don't need to worry anymore

Well here I am, few twinges last night but nothing more than I have been having over last few weeks.
Felt better at first as, if cervix is 3cm plus very thin then at least I know that something has been happening these last few weeks, but really was hoping sweep would have set me off so dissapointed this morning.
First experience of a sweep, does anyone know how long they can take to set you off? or is it a case of if I haven't started yet, it hasn't helped?????

Why aren't I in labour???? If I keep going like this it really is going to fall out she was bouncing it's head up and down in my pelvis odd feeling At least she did say when it happens it will be quick.

Anyway that's a long enough essay for now How's everyone else???

Any babies over night?

Flame, you were sounding hopeful, baby yet????

Flamesparrow · 16/02/2006 08:32

Soooo miserable. I spent all day not getting my hopes up, but by the time I went to bed, I was having twinges every 10 mins, and I was so sure that something would be happening...

Woken up this morning and its all stopped again.

I feel huge, uncomfortable, ill with this bloody cold, and I just wanted my baby. To top it off apparantly 8am is a reasonable time to start digging up the f*ckin road, so I can't even enjoy a lie in with DD at mums.

I don't want this baby sharing a birthday with every family and friend we know - I wanted it to have something all to itself... but its now looking even less likely that that will happen.

Helen - My midwife told me that a sweep "should" work within 48 hours if it is going to be effective, so you still have time.

I don't even hold much hope of a sweep happening for me... with DD my cervix hid really high and far back until I'd actually been in labour for quite a while - unless its completely changed how it is naturally, I can't see it being in the right place for anything to be done.

Helen38 · 16/02/2006 08:37

flame Just have to hope that you are doing the same as me and that when it comes to it things will be quick Not a lot of help I know as is frustrating, as I've said before, I could quite happily of waited til dd if not for all of the threats of coming and then stopping, drives you mad doesn't it?

At least we know we are not the only ones!

Flamesparrow · 16/02/2006 08:57

Calmed down a bit now

Never told you all the random thoughts going through my head when I was up on Tuesday night... I had "We have no milk for the midwife, and nothing for me to eat after the baby is born".... "My dishes need doing".... and the most recurrent one "I really hope 4B1P's in labour because I would feel soooo bad if I ended up with a baby before her!" ... see - I care about you guys to the end!

Helen38 · 16/02/2006 09:00

Must admit feel guilty about grumbling when am one of the last due and others are over due but I just wish it would make it's mind up and come or not!!!!!!

Jasnem · 16/02/2006 09:17

Mine's made up it's mind - to not come, ever. Not even a twinge here

So happy for 4B1P though, well done and congratulations.

Ixel really should be next, to be fair, then it's my turn please.
Somehow I don't think these babies have been listening to us, though!

Frizbetheexpansionset · 16/02/2006 09:23

4b1p Congrats! shall look out for your birth announcement in full shortly!!

Mrs D, make sure you don't over do it now (she says sounding like her mother!), although I know being stuck in the house can be a mare... especially if your not a sit around person.

Ixel, good luck at hosp today, hope they give you a sweep {{{Hugs}}}

Helen, your baby is just going to fall out

Flame, lol I too was looking around the house going, oh no, we've not got this in (milk as well) the floor needs hoovering etc etc, which is why I had a rapid cleaning day yesterday! So you've guessed nothing happened here overnight, although my cold has come back with a vengance...dh is most gutted! so here I am, not even a twinge in sight! pah.......still get to go to play centre with dd today, so that's her happy at least!!

Helen38 · 16/02/2006 09:53

Feels like it frizbe, lots of low pressure and think head keeps bashing pubic bone, not good with the spd. I t can come now

Flamesparrow · 16/02/2006 10:00

Well I've washed a few dishes. Don't get DD back for a couple of hours, so I might throw some clean clothes on quickly, and then curl up on the sofa with Tuesday's CSI, and then probably a Buffy is on somewhere (always a Buffy on somewhere ).

My mum has invited me out for dinner with her and her foster placement tonight - I love the restaurant (do a really nice dessert, and a glass of nice wine sounds good too), so I might take her up on that! If I'm gonna be here, I might as well eat well.

Never know - threatening it with me having fun might just scare it into coming out

Helen38 · 16/02/2006 10:05

Sky 1 are running it in the mornings at the mo flame, willow going dodgy last week i think

Jasnem · 16/02/2006 10:14

I think we need a new thread for us stragglers.
Every time I lok at the "spring forth " thing I get cross - we're not really springing any more, are we?

Guess what kind of mood I'm in today?

I can't even watch Buffy, as I have to spend all my time explaining it to the dds, and I suppose it's not really suitable for 5year olds anyway

Helen38 · 16/02/2006 10:25

Yes is not really kids type tv is it, lucky flame having child free time, I am feelin half term today, ds1 is better so they are squabbling.

Helen38 · 16/02/2006 10:26

Not so much spring as waddle slowly accross the room

Flamesparrow · 16/02/2006 10:32

Lol - I've been getting bitter about our lack of Springing too

(Can't focus on CSI for long, so keep having breaks ).

I have all the Buffy dvds too, so not an issue even if it wasn't on sky . I keep thinking that I should stop DD watching it soon, but I don't have enough will power ... most of it she's fine with, but some we have to turn off if there are scary things. Should I be worried that my 2 yr old sat in a cafe yesterday, made herself teeth fangs, and went "Grrrrrrrrrrr"?? I'm telling myself that it is good for her imagination, teaching her mythology, and showing her positive female role models .

Twinges are back - feeling more BH than contracty today, but still, pain is pain, so I am happy . Trying to keep my fluids up, and avoiding baths - I get the feeling that all my baths probably slow me down again, but over the past 2 days, the focus has been on getting over the cold more than getting out baby. Cold seems to be breaking today, so baby can come .

Jasnem · 16/02/2006 11:38

My girls had almost daily episodes of Buffy and Angel until they were over 3, Flame, so i reckon you've got a while yet!

i'm sure baths do slow you down in the early stages. That's why you shouldn't get in your birthing pool too early, either.

I know what you mean about 1/2 term, Helen - it's getting to me today, and mine aren't even fighting. I'm not doing anything today on the grounds that they had a busy day out yesterday, but it means we've had Scooby Doo on tv since breakfast, and DD1 is playing on the Xbox again (It's a Buffy game actually, but don't tell. She isn't good enough at it to be killing things (yet), so it's all "training")

I've sat and folded all my new nappies while DD2 was in the bath, and am going to clean upstairs now in an attempt to make it look like I haven't spent all day on MN, now.

Helen38 · 16/02/2006 11:53

scooby doo on here too, boomerang is great in school hols

I am being mean with the xbox this week as they nag for it endlessly if you let them play it, might put it on this pm, ds2 wants a go on the dance mat, hmmmmmm now there's a thought, although not sure i want my waters to go standing on something electrical

No buffy etc in the day time here any more but we are working our way through Angel season 1 at night having run out of firefly and still waiting for serenity to come out on dvd

I only know a couple of people in RL who are into Joss Weedon stuff and they don't have kids, is good to know I am not a complete freak
