Fraid not kitegirl, but nice try!!

I've said it before and I'll say it again, i totally respect anyone who is doing all this with other children too.

pucca · 01/02/2006 12:23

God i am struggling to drink 2 pints of water!! lol, have my scan at 13.40pm and i need to get this water down, it is horrific!

Strike1 · 01/02/2006 12:27

Lots of little sips Pucca. Good luck with the scan. Let us know how it goes.

pucca · 01/02/2006 12:29

Thanks Strike lol, i have nearly got to the bottom of the 1st pint, one down one to go!! i am terrible at drinking fluids normally, very naughty but i just can't drink much...ever, so this is a battle for me!!

Strike1 · 01/02/2006 12:40

Eat some salty crisps, that might spur you on (and taste good too) I can't get enough of Salt and Vinegar Disco crisps at the moment, so I can down pints of water after a pack of them!

BigHotMama · 01/02/2006 13:35

Afternoon ladies, Hope you are all well.
As I read your post Strike1 I was actually eating a packet of Salt n Vinegar crisps myself, strange as I've never liked that flavour and now they one of my faves.
I remember drinking lots of water before my scan but then needing the toilet like mad afterwards too as it seems to go straight through me, when the sonographer was pressing on my belly I was trying sooo hard not to wee myself!
Arabica, I'm hoping to get a sudden burst of energy sometime soon as I'm 14 weeks on Monday.

lunavix · 01/02/2006 13:40

Been to doctors today, I've had migraines for five days now, killer ones (I'm in bed the second the kids leave, dh not in the least sympathetic) and told her about the nausea. She's given me tablets for the nausea, but I had to burst into tears (she was trying to fob me off with ginger biscuits ffs) but gave me a reassuring 'I'd drink and eat more, else you'll end up in hospital on a drip.' I've now lost an additional 6lb, according to friends scales. Whoppdee frickin doo!

trix1 · 01/02/2006 14:54

oh Lunavix - you poor thing, have you taken paracetamol for the headaches - im sure the doctors can prescribe stronger pain killers in pregnancy. Hopefully the tablets for nausea will start to work for you.

Take care.

trix1 · 01/02/2006 14:55

i did read that the sickness does peak at about 10 weeks although I dont know for sure if its true.

BigHotMama · 01/02/2006 15:16

Lunavix, sounds like your having a rough time of it with migraines and nausea, I feel for you and wish I could help you out with a cure but I'm not sure what to suggest? Hope you start to feel better soon

Nbg · 01/02/2006 15:44

Really hope you start to feel better soon Luna. I reckon that as soon as those nausea tablets kick in, you'll be able to eat and drink a bit more and that will send the headaches off.

Hope everything went well at your scan Pucca. Let us know!

I sent a piccie of my scan to Kitegirl this morning so I'm going to see if can get one on member profiles.

Oh and WOOHOO Arabica! 14 weeks ey!!!

olivo · 01/02/2006 16:38

Luna, sounds like a nightmare - I really hope you start to feel better soon and that your tablets kick in. (cant believe your doctor was suggesting ginger biscuits!)

just watching a tv prog about a couple with 14 children and another one on the way - I'm scared that I wont cope with one!

pucca, how was your scan?

pucca · 01/02/2006 19:05

pucca · 01/02/2006 23:08

Trix1...Good luck for tomorrow let us know how you get on. I have a real pushchair fetish, and i am trying not to look ...yet lol.

Nbg · 02/02/2006 08:55

Good luck with your scan Trix

Feel like rubbish today. Totally and utterly full of cold.
Does anyone know what you can take for it?
I can't do anything with aspirin in so no Lemsip.

Will it be ok to sniff at some olbas or Vicks?

kitegirl · 02/02/2006 10:12

sniff away Nbg, I would. Can you not take paracetamol - I thought that's what was in Lemsips

yep, paracetamol, so you should be ok?

I also have a pram fetish. I really want a Bugaboo Chameleon I really do I really do! but they are soooooo expensive.

olivo · 02/02/2006 12:23

Hope your scan goes well trix/let us know.
nbg -sorry to hear you're not feeling good -I always try steaming my head if I'm bunged up - guess its ok in pg.

dh just got his blood group back - he's a positive so looks like I will have to have this anti-d thing.

luna - how are you today?
hope everyone else is feeling ok.

Act · 02/02/2006 12:48

Hi everyone!
I have been reading the thread on how long people's first labours were. I am absolutely amazed by the variation! I guess there is no way to know waht to expect. My friend just had her first with a short labour a week early (about 4hrs I think). She only just made it to the hospital...She reckons it was all the cycling that did it!
In other news, I am disappointed that reaching the 2nd trimester hasn't made me feel much less anxious. I still feel a bit of a fraud telling people as I've not got a proper bump yet...I can't wait to feel movement that must be reassuring? I still doubt it's really true even though I've got a lovely scan picture and feel like cr*p!! Am I mad?

lunavix · 02/02/2006 13:52

My labour with ds was 32 hours..... long and painful!

I'm feeling better today thank god. She said I could take up to two tablets a day, so I took one 30 minutes before dinner, had dinner (small bowl of soup, but still a whole bowl) then took the other tablet straight after and it stayed down! I'm happy if I can just eat one meal a day, I don't mind if I eat nothing else. So feeling happier today!!!!!

trix - I'm allergic to paracetamol so have been taking codeine but doesn't seem to work on my migraines, fortunately feeling better today.
Thanks for your well wishes everyone, I put my feeling better down to the power of mumsnet!

I've been looking at buggies too, I wanted an e3 but when it's £400 and ds will be nearly 2 and a half when the baby is born we've decided it's a bit extravagant. I think we might get a maclaren twin rally, I really like the patterns ( ) so if we have a day out he has somewhere to sit, and get a single buggy suitable from birth too (ds will be going to preschool so I'll need a single one too.)

No idea really, we bought ds's buggy whn I was 5 months, we like being organised

trix1 · 02/02/2006 14:50

Hello ladies, I just come back from the scan and it was brilliant - everything looks fine. What a releif, I have to go back at 16 weeks for another scan and then at twenty weeks.

Hi Act, i was wondering how you were as you have not posted for a while, good to hear from you.

When I had a bad head cold last week I had hot water with a slice of lemon it and put loads of Olbas on my pillow it cleared up after 5/6 days.

BigHotMama · 02/02/2006 15:42

Afternoon ladies, fantastic news on your scans Pukka & Trix1. I wish I had the money to buy my own personal scan machine and was able to see my baby everyday...(apparently Tom Cruise has got one for Katie so he can monitor 24/7)

Today I have eaten like a total pig, seem to be eating when I'm not even hungry...must put a stop to that naughtiness!

When I had a cold a couple of weeks ago I drank hot water with lemon n honey, and also put layers of vicks on my chest and nostrils as my nose was totally blocked up for days, also drank a load of Orange Juice too. Hope your feeling better soon NBG. Glad your feeling better today Lunavix.

There is a serious stomach flu going round my area at the moment they have even closed down some schools as its spreading really fast amongst the kids. Hope it stays away from me!

Roll on Summer....

Act · 02/02/2006 16:34

thanks trix I'm fine really, just been a bit quiet! Have been reading tho.
Glad to hear you're feeling a bit better Lunavix.

Can't wait to use my Quinny again. I absolutoly love it for the car seat an carry cot to go on but not so much the pushchair.

Glad to hear your feeling a bit better Luna.

I do normally have lemon and honey in hot water when I have cold but I used the lemons up making Marslady's famous Lemon Drizzle cake
I'll make sure I use some Vicks tonight though.
