Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
pommedechocolat · 29/02/2012 11:38

Too - Mouse smacking! Of course. I hated ttc but rat smacking and clambering on did used to make me giggle a lot.

Biscuitsandtea · 29/02/2012 11:42

Am liking the sugarjack bag, but must confess to being a bit Hmm about the picture of the girl with the ridiculous shorts and heels, checking her nails - is this the kind of life with a baby they can promise me if I buy one of their bags? Grin

Glad to hear last night went so well Pomme - Abigail is being a star! Smile

PurpleWithaBlueBun · 29/02/2012 11:58

Pomme Try biological nurturing and see if it helps with sore nipples if your boobs are still sore in a couple of days get some help :) Also remember the more you feed the more developed your milk ducts will be as your boobs continue to develop roughly two weeks after birth and this is the important part of establishing your milk supply for the rest of your bf career.

Glad things are going well though, I want my baby today and this morning I did have a patch of sore braxton hicks! Nothing now though :(

Too I couldn't resist and bought the bag Blush £100 posted and I am sure if I don't like it I can get my money back through ebay.etc Dream the lady who posted about the code, uses it for her b/g twins btw Wink
Biscuits it is the gopping pic of the granny (I assume) pushchair and dad I don't like...! It is a bag that is supposed to be a normal bag once you have ditched the nappies so maybe that is why there it the oddly dressed girl?

Brooking for new beans, consultants and scans for those that need!

Biscuitsandtea · 29/02/2012 12:14

Purple is that pic with the pushchair and Dad supposed to be Kate Silverton? Just because at the side of that one it says 'as seen on Kate Silverton'??

Any chance of a one liner as to what biological nurturing is - that link needs Flash so I can't view it on my phone Confused

Pomme, when I had mega sore nips when bf DS I bought these sterling silver cup things.

They were v expensive I thought (and I think I only paid about £25 at the time) but they kind of protected my nips as I put them in my bra and it stopped everything getting squashed and rubbing. Granted I looked a bit like Madonna Hmm with my pointy boobs, but they did help a bit. I don't know whether the sterling silver properties really did much but I think to be honest just not squishing everything helped.

But as I say, they're pretty expensive and I think maybe more of a last resort. Lansinoh was great and I used that more than the weird boob things (and I never went out with my Madonna pointy boobs!)

But just a thought. Can't remember where or who recommended them to me or how I came across them.

Imps7 · 29/02/2012 12:17

I can confirm that the Gopping Granny is indeed Kate Silverton Grin

PurpleWithaBlueBun · 29/02/2012 12:39

Sorry Kate! I thought it was a model of a gran and I also thought she was wearing a nylon housecoat until I looked closely... The gopping was more towards the smugness (and alliteration)

Biscuits hopefully you can see these laid back breastfeeding and here with some good pics

farfallarocks · 29/02/2012 12:46

Hello brookers, 2nd HCG count at 600, more than doubled, wey hey! Thanks for the brooking.

Its obviously extremely early days still but the best news we could have hoped for. DH keeps on calling me a clever girl, bless him. No symptoms at all apart from tiredness and intermittent sore boobs but its early days.

pomme abigail sounds like a no brooking baby alright!

Here is to lots more lovely brooking babies over the next few days and weeks :)

Biscuitsandtea · 29/02/2012 12:47

purple it was only the note at the side that made me think it - I could totally see where you were coming from! Smileand she is wearing a housecoat isn't she?

Biscuitsandtea · 29/02/2012 12:50

Thanks for the photo links Purple - that's interesting (although I wonder if I laid back of my boobs would disappear down the side of me never to be seen again Blush!)

NinjaChipmunk · 29/02/2012 12:56

brilliant news farfalla we shall continue to brook like mad for you Smile

PurpleWithaBlueBun · 29/02/2012 13:00

Great news Farfalla!

Biscuits I was trying to look for the photo of the baby feeding from over the mums shoulder it is very funny, as my suggestion to you. Wink
With BN you have 360 degrees worth of positions so lots for you to try and find what fits. Perhaps practice with a teddy or doll to see what you think? When I am demonstrating it I usually have a doll and it does help to visualise it.

And it is an awful photo! I am surprised she has given permission for its use!

PurpleWithaBlueBun · 29/02/2012 13:04

Think we need to dust the stats thread off we have babies that need adding oh and Farfalla when your ready :)

PurpleWithaBlueBun · 29/02/2012 13:06

I LOVE the pic here! Baby needs to come out!

pommedechocolat · 29/02/2012 13:12

Just lost my birth plan - grr. Night shift might be a better idea!!

Thanks for the link purple. Will try to keep feeding regularly too - she is a little jaundiced so good for that too. Biscuits - I have never heard about those cups before! Love the idea of you striding round like Madonna with thimbles on your nips!

Great news farfalla.

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 29/02/2012 13:16

I have just looked up both "gopping" (which is hilarious) and Kate Silverton - who I actually recognised despite never watching BBC breakfast! Very entertaining posts this morning!

Thanks for the laid back bf links Purple. I'm hoping to be able to do most of my bfing lying down at least for the first couple of weeks while my back/hips recover.

Biscuits those silver cup thingies look a little like breast milk collection shells, except they don't collect milk! If you're looking for something to prevent anything touching your nipples while they heal the shells might be a cheaper alternative?

Yay for Farfalla's excellent news!!

Biscuitsandtea · 29/02/2012 13:20

Obviously I get mistaken for Madonna a lot anyway, so that was really just the final straw. Had paps outside the house and everything.......

Biscuitsandtea · 29/02/2012 13:24

Yes something like that might work just as well Scream - I can't remember how I came across them or why I bought them, (although i can tell you i was desperate!) but it's better than going round topless to try and let everything 'air' out Smile

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 29/02/2012 13:25

For the preggos already off work, is anyone just bored out of their teeny tiny minds?! Or is that just me? I've been stuck at home since 23 weeks, and off work since 25 weeks, now at 31 weeks I'm going slightly crazy! (My bank balance is also suffering! Online shopping is my only remaining vice!)

DH works part-time but he's got three days of work in a row starting tomorrow and I'm just dreading it :( Bored now, this has been a useful character building exercise but I would like to be able to walk again now please.

jenfraggle · 29/02/2012 13:27
PurpleWithaBlueBun · 29/02/2012 13:33

Jen your needlephobic too aren't you? I hope your ok? Emla cream?

Scream you get used to it if you have a routine, it has made this the longest pregnancy ever!

Biscuits you don't Air sore cracked nipples out treat them like chapped lips, i,e lip balm and moisture! Ouch Ouch Ouch

Biscuitsandtea · 29/02/2012 13:36

I did moisture moisture moisture Purple but I was told to let everything dry properly before covering up too - in the same way that your hands if chapped would get worse if you didn't dry them properly after washing.

I'm going to wind my neck in now as don't want to say the wrong thing and inadvertently give any bad advice. It's a long time ago that I was bf.

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 29/02/2012 13:47

I am not yet bored Scream - mainly because the house is a tip and DH keeps making me fill out job applications for him because he can't do it at work. Still, have only been off a week, nothing like you!

Jen, are you ok? What happened?

Loving the Madonna imagery, Biscuits!

Purple, will read all those links when I have finished DH's latest application form.

OP posts:
Biscuitsandtea · 29/02/2012 14:03

Jen hope you're feeling better soon after your GTT - you poor thing.

Scream - I'm not bored yet, but then I don't work, so I haven't actually given up work! And I have my 3yo boredom avoidance plan in place - using this patented method (ie DS), the simplest of tasks can be dragged out to fill half a day without even blinking :)

But Scream it must drive you nuts not being able to be mobile! I can't imagine how mind numbing that would be :( Am hoping that the next few weeks go by asap for you.

PurpleWithaBlueBun · 29/02/2012 14:11

Biscuits not recently trained bf counsellors were told to advise ladies with cracked nipples to get the hair dryer on them! So you were probably advised to dry them off. Current advice is like chapped lips :)

scarletfingernail · 29/02/2012 14:13

Oh dear jen I hope it wasn't too traumatic for you?

So pleased to hear you've have lots more movement Biscuits.

No time for boredom Scream when there's a 3 year old child in the house. How different this is from my first pregnancy where I could have a nice lie in, watch rubbish on tv and do loads of online shopping. None of that this time. I guess it would be better for you if you weren't in pain, at least you'd be able to get out and about then.

How lovely of Abbey to be breaking you in slowly pomme Grin. I'm looking forward to hearing your birth story.

I've been suffering from low back pain the last few days. I guess it's to be expected now I'm on the final stretch, although I don't remember it starting until I went into labour with DS. I've not really had time to rest though, I was out all day yesterday and have been out all morning this morning. Just doing lots of shopping, so much is needed for the house.
