Biscuits that's funny. Reminds me of when we were waiting after our GTTs at the hospital and we had that confusion about whether we could have a drink, or go to the toilet Grin Baby brain must surely be a recognised condition? I've done so many mad things since my BFP.

I wouldn't worry about it too much Wants, just mention it next time you see her and ask her to change it.

I'm pleased you put your friend off Popcorn. At least you'll be able to tell her you're upduffed when you do arrange to see her.

Hi Evil and congratulations.

Grin at your dream Ninja. I wonder if we all have these crazy preggo dreams because there's more light sleep than deep during pregnancy so we're dreaming more? Some of my dreams have left me really weirded out.

Glad things are going well Pomme. Have the outlaws now departed? How's DD1 getting on with the change?

Biscuitsandtea · 01/03/2012 14:56

Haha - my last post is full of mistakes. Creme eggs to anyone who can make sense of it. Specifically I meant on the topic of notes, not Korea!!!! Stupid autocorrect!

scarletfingernail · 01/03/2012 14:58

I was a bit Confused by the Korea thing Biscuits but didn't like to ask in case it was me being thick! Grin I would imagine it's something to do with how engaged in the pelvis the baby is.

PopcornMouseInBoots · 01/03/2012 15:29

I did wonder what Korea had to do with your baby, Biscuits - I was starting to wonder if it was Kim Jong Il's lovechild :o

DreamingOfPeace · 01/03/2012 15:43

If it says 4/5 I'm sure that'll be how engaged baby is biscuits, I.e not very as she can feel 4/5 of the head. Unless someone can correct me? Think its explained in the green notes too. I thought second/third babies often didn't engage til you go into labour though so doesn't mean you're not close to delivery :-) I though auto correct had got you n it was 'notes' so I've had a creme egg, as instructed.

Hello evil, hooray for your dc1!!!

Only 48 hours in hospital is great fishcake! Good story.

purple are you due tomorrow or a week tomorrow? Let us know what date this baby's meant to arrive on (according to you, now 29th has gone) so we can will him out!!

I'm tired, dh and i snapping at each other again and the power of sleep really has deserted me.

PurpleWithaBlueBun · 01/03/2012 15:52

Biscuits the 4/5th is how much head they can feel above the pelvis, so your babies head is just tucked in a bit, hence the at brim.

I don't mind when the baby comes, a weekend would be most convenient, say a Friday night? I need a bit longer to recover from this illness that I have picked up from DD, poor Dd is still hanging although has been playing with some toys on the floor for about an hour now for the first time all week!

Congrats Evil! Welcome. :)

I can't remember anything else..

The Sugarjack bag (Gopping Granny Bag GGB) has just arrived and it is beautiful!! Any of you that was thinking of getting it do! It is very large and is perfect for two kids I reckon as it has two massive zipped pockets one for each and then a middle pocket with pouches for your bits and bobs. It smells divine. :) :)

Biscuitsandtea · 01/03/2012 16:08

Oh Pop - you've busted me BlushGrin

Yes I've heard both ways for how early you engage second time around - I've heard that either you don't engage until you go into labour, but equally others have said the baby can go in and out at will in the run up, so it obviously means nowt!

Biscuitsandtea · 01/03/2012 16:08

So does any one know what the 'PP to brim' actually means? I'm just assuming it's a measure of how engaged because of the answer Confused

PurpleWithaBlueBun · 01/03/2012 16:22

Dream week tomorrow, maybe next weekend? I am too tired and ill to do labour atm and then have newborn while I am ill and Dd is. Sorry to hear you and Dh are being snappy, must be very stressful with a poorly Dd, loss of sleep and having twins on the way! A lot to think and deal with, can you go out together for a date type thing, see if it helps you reconnect a bit?

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 01/03/2012 16:38

Biscuits Dr Google is telling me that "pp to brim" literally translates to "presenting part to brim". This means it's the amount of the presenting part of the baby's head that the mw can feel over the brim of your pelvis. So everyone else's explanations about it being a measure of engagement were spot on!

So I guess if you're only 4/5 pp to brim then your UBB is only just starting to engage, with the majority of the head still above the pelvis. However I'm also convinced that this LO will be arriving v soon (possibly next!) and the head might engage just before your sneeze birth!

Welcome Evil!

Having a stressful day waiting for the consultant to call me. However as he's now in the middle of his busy clinic I think it's a lost cause and this torment will be dragged out far beyond today. Sigh.

Biscuitsandtea · 01/03/2012 17:24

Oh Scream - poopers to the consultant not calling you back :-( maybe if he's picked the message up he now he might call another day?

Thanks for your google research though Smile. I am pretty sure when I went to my 36 week appt when pg with DS, he was either not engaged at all or at most 4/5, and he came less than a week later so we'll see......

I wish you could just know when it was going to happen. You know like when ttc if someone could have said when you'd get there, even if it was a way off, it would have made the wait more bearable. I don't even recall feeling impatient like this with DS because he caught us off guard, but him coming so early has expanded my window!!! In my head I'm as impatient as someone past their due date - I have to keep reminding myself I'm not even at term yet Blush

To be fair I'm not really getting any twinges or owt so pretty sure I've got a bit more waiting to do Sad

musicalmrs · 01/03/2012 19:22

Evening! Sorry for the radio silence - having a madly busy week, and having to teach tomorrow too (my normal day off now) -argh!

Pomme and Hawthers, both lovely birth stories! I hope both Farley and Abigail are doing well :) Pomme, also imprsesed by just how quickly Abigail made her appearance in the end - so glad you had a wonderful experience!

Fishcakes, yay for the wonderful size of your LO!

Welcome Evilwater!

Ninja, sounds like a great dream! I've had several peculiar dreams on a theme recently... in each I'm married to someone really dull and boring (note: NOT DH)... but I'm having an affair.. with my current DH! It's very bizarre!

Nothing much to report with me. Lots of BH, especially when walking too fast or needing the loo (and usually walking too fast on my way to it!). My eyesight's also not as sharp as it used to be, which I've heard can be a side effect of PG? Most odd.

Things are looking good house wise - the chain's complete, and the survey has been carried out. Got the confirmation of the mortgage through yesterday, which also included a mini version of the survey (for mortgage purposes). Looked ok, although it cited that some repair was required in areas - didn't go into more detail - but hoping that'll all be ok when we get the whole thing through! Starting to let myself be a little more excited. Only a little though...! My credit card is weeping though from all the payments to various people..

How exciting that there are even more brooking babies due very soon! Will there be a postnatal thread too? :)

Evilwater · 01/03/2012 19:26

Thanks for all the welcomes.
It was amazing to know ther are so many people are in the same boat.

I've been to my friend who has five kids and she has sorted me out with alot of anti sickness. Tonight I've eaten my first real meal! KFC and chips, yes I know, but I just wanted meat.

My friend thinks I'm having boy, well Iam eating lots of rubbish food, and hardly any sweets.

Any one else believe in that old wife's tale??

Ew

Wants3 · 01/03/2012 20:46

Ooh! Are we nearly at the end of another thread! Someone please come and think of a great title that maybe includes snuggly babies too!
Good idea about post it note biscuits
now to move onto next worry. DH may need to go to china for 2-3 weeks in April. As I will be 34-37 weeks in that month do you think it is totally crazy to let him go! My concern is if things kick off early DH will miss the birth and there is nobody I can immediately think of who could be my birth partner instead! Ds1 did say he would do supermarket shopping to help out!

Biscuitsandtea · 01/03/2012 21:14

Oooh, now that is a tricky one Wants

For me that would have to be a big fat NO, but then I have a history! I guess the birth partner thing would be a big hurdle - no one else I could imagine wanting / putting up with in that situation.

I guess with your boys being that much older they would be a bit more help, and decidedly less dependent should anything happen - eg able to pull themselves together a meal etc, and not desperately demanding your attention all the time.

But it is certainly a risky time. Would he be able to leave the trip and return early if things began to happen. Obviously he wouldn't get home for the birth but would he be able to drop everything and at least get the first flight home?

Did you go early or late with your DSs?

Biscuitsandtea · 01/03/2012 21:53

Oh my goodness I feel as if my bump is just going to POP tonight! Confused

scarletfingernail · 01/03/2012 21:54

That's quite a dilemma Wants for your DH at this stage in pregnancy. I think it's something I would have to say I wouldn't be happy about. Yes, it's unlikely that anything will happen during that time, but regardless it's still very late on in pregnancy during which time there may be other issues where you need support.

When will you know for sure if he is expected to go or not? Will there be any option for him to say no or is it a case of you having to suck it up? If there's any way of him getting out of it, it might be a good idea to say you're not happy with it now rather that leave it until nearer the time? What does he think he should do?

scarletfingernail · 01/03/2012 21:54

EEEEKKK Biscuits what's happening? How is it different from normal?

Wants3 · 01/03/2012 22:03

It's certainly a tricky one! He has to decide in the next few days really! The extra money would be handy but I think he would only say yes if I was happy and have a plan b. I would be happier if he went at beginning of April and said 2 weeks max as that would coincide with the Easter holidays so me and boys would just be pottering about at home etc. Ds1 came at 38 weeks, ds2 was 39+4

Biscuitsandtea · 01/03/2012 22:10

It doesn't feel labourish or anything (sorry - didn't mean to cause any excitement!)

But it does feel really uncomfortable to be sat down and just really tight and, well, like it might pop. I guess just like earlier in the pg when it's been stretching so maybe the baby is having one last growth spurt for me to maximise my stretch marks?

I've also had really bad heartburn the last couple of days - does this baby not realise it supposed to be heading downwards?

My mother is very disappointed that I haven't had the baby today. I think she takes it as a personal slight.....

Biscuitsandtea · 01/03/2012 22:13

So wants if he went at the start of April, you would be 34-35 weeks?

That would be quite early to go into labour I guess. Tricky tricky tricky........

How much hard work would the Easter hols be looking after your boys? Or how helpful could / would they be? I can't remember how old you said they were Blush

DreamingOfPeace · 01/03/2012 22:15

Hmm, v tricky wants, pretty unlikely baby'd come then but not impossible esp as ds1 was 38 weeks, 37 is term after all... If you need the money with building work and all I'd be tempted to send him but at the same time I'd be stressed about it just in case...

purple, with dd not going to bed going for a date night is unlikely :-( . Next Friday pm for your labour then, right-o.

Hurray for a complete chain musical

Biscuitsandtea · 01/03/2012 22:17
DreamingOfPeace · 01/03/2012 22:19

Oh, and evil, I've been able to eat only crisps and chocolate for large parts of this pg, I don't believe it!!! (I'm having two boys)

Biscuitsandtea · 01/03/2012 22:21

oooh, I forgot to answer evil's question. In the nausea times I found crisps were my friend but other than that I've managed to maintain my love of chocolate (and crisps have disappeared from my wish list again). No idea if that = boy or girl but I'll let you know in a few weeks when I find out whether my UBB (Unidentified brooking bean) is a boy or a girl!
