Ooooh how lovely Too I bring chocolate chip muffins to the table.

Today I have ordered a birthing ball, a Babybjorn Babysitter and a new monitor. Everytime I think I have everything I need I think of something else!

Wants3 · 10/02/2012 17:55

Thanks for new thread! Looks lovely:)
Yes,Dexter is still top of the list but I am open to new ideas if I hear another name I like but nothing else has popped up yet!
My Aunt popped around to day with the crib. It is bigger than a Moses basket so it could be interesting to find a new mattress for it! It has only had one baby on it but I would be happier with new.

scarletfingernail · 10/02/2012 18:05

Wants I also have a crib. You can buy replacement mattresses online and from Mothercare stores. Just make sure you check whether your crib has rounded or square ends and buy the mattress to suit.

DS was too long for his moses basket by about 10 weeks. We wanted him to stay in our room a while longer but the cotbed wouldn't fit. So we ended up buying a crib, which he stayed in until about 4 months old. We had to turf him out of our room by that point as none of us were getting any sleep.

Hi all,

been reading but DD demanding today and I'm having a particularly sore and achey day with 10million braxton-hicks so not got round to posting before. We even didn't go to her Baby Signing session today as the woman e-mailed that her DD has chicken pox (they're in her house) and I just felt like I couldn't take even a small risk of DD getting it with a 10-21 day incubation or whatever it is and her being ill when I'm even bigger and more knackered... Extreme probably, especially as DD is really getting the hang of signing, but i'm getting to that point. Plus I'm bigger than full term with DD but getting no blooming chance to rest at all with her today- she kept waking up coughing from her nap so had to have her lying on my bump (cue mega-reflux), gah!!!! and my ribs- honestly I think they're going to pop apart, they're killing in any position today Sad (so you'll have guessed I'm feeling sorry for myself today)

purple, I like this one for a wedding but I'm hopeless, is this a bad plan for 8 weeks post birth?!

Lovely new thread scarlet!! I'd be totally outed if anyone near me read this- given away way too many details! I figure none of it's a secret Hmm

hawthers · 10/02/2012 18:32

Popping by to say hi to you preggos. Off to shove a boob in a whinging farley chops, AGAIN

Biscuitsandtea · 10/02/2012 18:37

Marking place - post later xx

jenfraggle · 10/02/2012 18:55

Just a quickie,

I finished my temping today, been there 7 weeks and they gave me a bunch of flowers and a pack of bodysuits.

NinjaChipmunk · 10/02/2012 19:30

aw jen that's lovely of them, how very sweet. Is that you off till after the baby now or are you taking other temp contracts?

Sorry to hear you're a bit down and achy dream hope you perk up soon.

too Thea is on my list, I think it's lovely. I also have (in no particular order) Edie, Niamh, Rae, Ava, Evie, Phoebe, Martha, Matilda, Romilly, Tabitha and Maeve. For boys names I have Luke, Jacob, Toby, Sullivan & Joseph. If we manage to find out the sex on Tuesday then at least we can put one of those lists to one side.

I love Theo, and thea. Both gorgeous. In fact, I really like your lists in general ninja

I'm.still liking Sebastian a lot- surely one of them's got to look like a seb?!.
Sebastian and Benjamin?
Sebastian and Alistair
Sebastian and finnian
Sebastian and Mallory (he'd get mal though and I'm not that keen plus everyone would think it was Malcolm)

Or any other suggestions?!

Hooray Jen, how sweet with the bodysuits and flowers :-)

DreamingOfPeace · 10/02/2012 20:02

Oh scream my.cotbeds are here. Got my friends staying next weekend so can't get rid of the bed before then. we will put them together after that but it'll be next Sunday pm hopefully, or in the next fortnight anyway- I'll tell you the truth on whether they look rubbish!! No urgent rush though I guess if you've got your bedside cot. The boys are going straight into the cotbed together.

scarletfingernail · 10/02/2012 20:18

I'm sure one of them will look like a Seb dream.

Of your other choices I like Benjamin and Finnian. Have you gone off Tobias now?

Aww DS is singing "wind the bobbin up" in bed. So cute.

Love your list Ninja You need to have lots more DC so you can use all those lovely names!

scarletfingernail · 10/02/2012 20:28

Oooh dream you've just reminded me of a very weird dream I had last night.

My auntie gave birth to identical twin boys (she's pushing 60 btw)

Their names were

Lol Reinhardt Surname
and
Kim Reinhardt Surname

Weird just weird.

PurpleWithaBlueBun · 10/02/2012 21:13

Dream that was the dress I liked best! I figured I would need a shrug or something as I reckon my arms will be flabby, the band around the waist would be flattering. I am concerned how the tummy will be in such a short period of time and I do feel pressured to be on a diet the instant I have had the baby, which isn't really like me. :/

Oh and for more weird similarities I have been thinking of Alistair and Alisdair too and have always had a liking for Finnian, could actually be on the shortlist actually!
And my ribs have only just got comfy in the last 10 mins they have been awful been sitting on my birthing ball and omg my ribs! I am so over being pg now!

Cotbed wise I might cave and buy the baby a new cotbed rather giving him Dds. I was just looking at her gorgeous sheets with teeny rosebuds on and her cotbed quilt and she has so much room left, I can't bear the thought of my little dink going in a big bed. :(

I have been so fed up and mopey today! I am just so exhausted, I hardly feel like moving at times, still it is making me remember to take my iron tablets. I have definitely being getting some sort of braxton hicks, nice that my body is gearing up, I just don't want to wait up to 6 weeks.

DreamingOfPeace · 10/02/2012 21:48

Yeah purple, what marvellous taste you have! I'm v concerned about the tummy, especially with how big I'll be too now I'm full term sized with not much under 8 weeks growing to go... I think i would too (buy another cotbed)... My dd will go straight into a single bed, but that's different, I couldn't make her swap, I'm too soft! I'm.feeling similar- don't want to move, masses of b-h, ribs are almost bringing me to.tears- of pain and frustration!! 7 weeks 4 days. And not before!!! My iron is 11.2. Not taking iron but eating more broccoli and red meat. And I normally feel ok ish down to 10. 8 gets me alright though!!!

Last 2 nights I've been back to Sat on landing/ in with her- upset and not asleep. She's been doing so well lying in her cot chatting in baby language and singing to herself but back to the crying- huh?!

I still need to do some things for hospital bag- anything!! No clothes for babies, no nothing. if I get a bag packed ASAP that'll guarantee me getting to 37+6, right?! Consultant didn't look v convinced...

musicalmrs · 10/02/2012 22:38

Lovely new thread Too! I bring marble toffee shortbread!

Jen, how lovely they gave you those bits and pieces :) I finished teaching at one of my schools today - HURRAH - one down, five to go! Hmm This was the one for the employer who isn't particularly helpful. So sad though, as the pupils are lovely. :(

Had some painful period pain like pains today - could that be BH? Happened quite a bit over the space of an hour, hour and a half.. we were with the mortgage adviser so I wasn't paying complete attention to the time..!

House wise, both good and bad. Good news is that mortgage all looks good, we've now sorted out all our income protection etc, and just waiting on solicitors and the chain. Bad news is that the top of the chain's fallen through- problems with the property they were due to move into. However, they have to move - they're in a town house and older, and are in the estate agents every day viewing things. They're hopeful it'll all be finished within three months, which is a nice timeframe! LO may be here by then, but that just means fewer moving duties for me Grin.

If anyone who knew me in real life read this I'd also be completely outed! Oh well! Loving the name discussions - so many lovely names. We haven't made any progress on ours really since our last discussions on here - we have a girls shortlist we're quite happy with, but still a bit lacking in boys names.

Does anyone have any nice plans for this weekend? Mine involve sofa shopping (in preparation for the move, which will be happening at some point - so wanting to have some ideas for when it does!), and looking for a changing bag. Maybe something pre-valentines day ish as well, as DH will be away for most of next week :( Oh - and buying baby blanket wool! :)

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 11/02/2012 01:49

Loving the new thread!

Sorry to hear Dream and Purple are so uncomfortable at the moment. I hope this is temporary and eases off very soon! Purple you're on the home stretch now! As for Dream you have a bit longer to wait (those boys are not to even THINK about exiting prior to your cs date!) but lots of pg symptoms seem to ebb and flow so I hope yours vanish very soon!

Musical great news about the mortgage! It's frustrating that part of the chain fell through but it seems as though the other party are really committed to finding a new place and moving asap, so I hope it all goes quickly and smoothly for you!

Loving all the name talk! There are some gorgeous names floating around on this thread! Can't wait to see what we all end up choosing!

I have extremely foolishly asked a controversial question elsewhere on Mumsnet. I just couldn't find the info I wanted online, and I'm sure there must be people on Mumsnet who've already been through the process and could help me. I'm just worried that all those people out there who hate elcs will jump on my thread and use it as a chance to berate me or try to change my mind. If they don't agree with me why can't they just leave the thread alone? I do hope some people who actually want to help will respond, rather than kicking off a whole round of people just telling me not to do it. Sigh. All I want to know is HOW to request a elcs when the consultant doesn't want to give you one for medical reasons. I want someone to tell me who I need to initiate my cs request with, and roughly when I need to start this process.

The more I go over the risks of vb for me with my SPD the less inclined I am to take the chance. Honestly I think if I go for vb I'll just end up having an emcs which will be twice as hard to recover from as a elcs. I also think that if I end up in a situation where the mw is pushing me towards forceps, it's quite possible that by then I won't have any option other than to let them destroy my hips because the baby will be too far down. I just want the security of a booked elcs and not the gamble of trying a vb, which could be fine or could be catastrophic.

NinjaChipmunk · 11/02/2012 08:51

oh scream you didn't post it in AIBU did you? Whilst I'm all for VB wherever possible I can totally understand your fears especially having read over time about how your spd has affected you. I hope someone helpful finds it and comments. Can your MW help at all? When is your next appointment with someone?
Not a very good nights sleep here last night. Its definitely getting more restless as time goes on. DP having lie in today and my turn tomorrow. DS doesn't wake till about 8ish usually so not so bad I suppose.
What's everyone up to today? A bit of online sainsbo's shopping I think and dp can take ds swimming for a while so I can veg out. Not much else planned though.

musicalmrs · 11/02/2012 09:12

Sorry to hear about the sleep Ninja. Mine's getting progressively worse I think.. I sleep through the first few hours (up until between 2 and 4am) ok, and get to sleep quickly, which is good at least. But after that I really struggle... I don't mind so much at the weekend, but when there's a busy weekday ahead it's really been getting me down.

Scream, I saw your post on Pregnancy. Thought it was very well written, and as a result it seems that so far the people who have commented haven't been too anti ELCS! I think their advice about talking to other consultants is wise, though I wouldn't know how you'd go about that. How does your independent midwife feel about it? What about your physio - could they write any letters to help your case at all?

DreamingOfPeace · 11/02/2012 09:15

scream, I'm just the same as you, if i could just know a vb would be fine I'd try and get into the mindset but I'm also terrified of forceps/instrumental delivery and tearing again- and if you're at that point baby is generally too low. Hence why my ELCS is booked. I think you just need to see your consultant and say why you'd want one and try and get a date a bit nearer the time. I was lucky, like I said, as the lovely consultant dh knows found us but they said they wouldn't discuss it til 34-36 weeks otherwise.
I also know mine can't be 'natural' if i have a vb anyway. I have to have an epidural, have to have synto drip up as soon as twin one born, will be on monitoring for both babies- so stuck on bed with all the stuff that increases risk of slow labour and instrumental....

I'm still in bed, dh has dd downstairs but no great plans. Think I'll have her all weekend really tho, he's got an exam Tuesday... Third trimester has hit me like a train now...

pommedechocolat · 11/02/2012 09:45

Dream - I am full of cold, sore throat and exhausted - I'm with you on third trimester train! I'm at the 'I WANT THIS BABY OUT' stage now. Excpet that then I start thinking about how they come out again!

DD has woken up with white bumps all over her tongue which would explain grumpiness/no eating yesterday. Waiting for NHS direct to call us back. Googling seems to suggest hand, foot and mouth but she had that last summer and nothing on her hands and feet. Worrying about me getting it now so close to the birth and passing it on.

Scream - You have a right to state what you want and be listened to. I would keep pressing it with all your caregivers you've currently got. Have you spoken to GP about it?

Wants3 · 11/02/2012 10:12

Sorry to hear of everyone's discomfort and restlessness. I think I begin my 3rd trimester this week, 27 weeks on thurs!?
We are going to look at isofix bases and seats today hopefully so we can get a rough idea how much to tell the PILs it will cost. Tomorrow we are taking the car to be washed to help ds1 raise money for his mission trip to brazil in the summer. Let's hope the car doesn't fall apart as I am sure it's only held together by dirt! There will be cake while we wait though:)
scream you need to do what is right for you so keep talking to all the HCPs until they agree with you!

jaggythistle · 11/02/2012 10:34

sorry I've just been lurking and trying to keep up the last few days!

currently posting from the bath while DH is outside with DS.

Sebastian and Alastair were the names that caught my eye too dream :)

we've got a boy and girl name picked out, i don't feel we really love the boy's name but it sounds right in my head for now. I'm trying to not be identifiable on here, so will prob have to pm the baby's name for stealth when they're here!

I can also still only sleep till about 3 or 4 am properly. hips getting a bit achy at night despite pillows too.

i really wish i could stop eating so much, i feel like I'll be massive after baby is out. have put on just over 2 stone already at 29 weeks Blush. i did put on a lot and lose it last time but am worried I'll end up fat and grumpy this time!

sorry for the random whine there!

PurpleWithaBlueBun · 11/02/2012 12:29

Hello I have had a super long lie in til 10.30 and feel a bit more human! Still achy, and my hips feel really loose and achy too, just getting ready for birth.
I think the periody pain is braxton hicks, can also be babies head digging in also.

I am nesting like anything! Never had this with Dd! Unfortunately, I don't have the energy to act on it. I am currently obsessing as I have misplaced or put somewhere 'safe' a bag that had the hats I bought for the hospital bag. I jst can't think where it is at all and keep having a worry that maybe DH has thrown it out? Unlikely I hope...

Dream I think that dress will be nice an loose around the stomach, I am slighty concerned about the length as mid calf doesn't suit me at all. Also the colour scheme is a brighter turquoisey shade so not sure if it would look odd me wearing such a colour?

Scream how about trying Hypnotherapy see if it will help relieve some of your anxiety? I have the birthing cd and only listened a couple of times but I think it would work quite well and wish I had their 4 CD I think it is pack and started much earlier on in pregnancy. Only about £40 or 11.99 a single CD. Could be worth a try?

Music I am pleased that even though you have a blip in the road, things are still going well with the house. How lovely :) I think I would rather move with a small baby than as I am now really, really pregnant, especially if you pay for unpack/pack service.
