NinjaChipmunk · 11/02/2012 22:27

possibly but what typ of cocoon do you mean purple although also I want to use slings more from an early age too.

PurpleWithaBlueBun · 11/02/2012 22:35

Ninja I have a Bugaboo one, but depends on your pushchair, you could always get a custom made by poshbugs or snunkie? I like the head support in my bug one.

Dream I think cotton is comfier than synthetics and goes in the tumble dryer then. I am hoping they will still be around once I have delivered so I can know my size! I have a jojo dress from when I first had Dd and it has lasted really well so would recommend their stuff.

musicalmrs · 11/02/2012 22:39

Dream, thanks for the picture! Wink DH appreciated it too! Have you bought any newborn inserts for your double yet? We've not got one yet - we got our sling today, which we're happy with and think we'll use all the time when LO's teeny tiny, but it would be nice to have something in the City Mini just in case. Had a look in Mothercare today but no luck. Have seen some potential things on Amazon though...

Hope your BHs are calming down somewhat. If you're worried it can't hurt to get checked out?

Wants, I'm 27 weeks tomorrow! I've heard it being counted as the third trimester too, although I thought it was 28 weeks too, like Dream. Either way, I'm definitely feeling bigger and as if it's getting more cramped for LO in there - lots more movement, and generally more uncomfortable for me. Not complaining though - I'm enjoying being pregnant overall. Although if anyone has any tips for tying up shoelaces I'd gratefully receive them! Wink

Scream, your thoughts on adopting are truly lovely. I always loved the idea of adoption- my DH really didn't though :(

Weight wise.. I'm a little worried I've not put on anywhere near enough. I've put on less than a stone than my pre-pregnancy weight... Confused should I be worried? Everything I read suggests I should have put on considerably more by now- as does one of the pregnancy apps, which flags my weight gain up as low and has coloured it bright red. I'm eating plenty (I think!), but I'm not sure it's enough :( I've been trying not to worry about it, but now the baby should be putting on fat I'm wondering if I should up my calorie intake even more (healthily if poss) to try and help it along...

NinjaChipmunk · 11/02/2012 22:40

th chescak is calling m...........

NinjaChipmunk · 11/02/2012 22:40

what is wrong with my eeeeees?

NinjaChipmunk · 11/02/2012 22:42

musical I put on very little when pg with ds so please don't worry too much.

DreamingOfPeace · 11/02/2012 22:46

I've not put on what I should have either musical. I eat even when I'm not hungry (like at dinner time), try to go high calorie with things like avocado etc regularly, but I'm below for twins- think I'm a stone and a half more than pre-pg. But do I count from what I went down to?! Then I've put on over 2 st which sounds better to me... I think if you eat as much as you can you're doing all you can and what's going to happen?!The're hardly going to be able to do anything for it, and you're tiny anywway, I'd say its just your build. I put on nearly 2 st with DD and she was 50th centile, so she was fine!!! Think it's more for you- I lost muscle, as if you need the extra calories for the baby your body will burn it's own muscle to provide- def happened in first trimester for me, both times. Not got any inserts yet- which have you looked at? I might be able to borrow 2 P+T cocoons...

DreamingOfPeace · 11/02/2012 22:48

oh- we did definitely need the sledge for the front wheel though- but then it turns out I'd not locked it in place anyway, so maybe it'd have been better if I had. DD slept through it anyway. I nearly took a pic of it up another Lake District hill for you recenty too, he he. It does ok off road considering!

DreamingOfPeace · 11/02/2012 22:49

oh, and I've bookmarked that site and hope they're still around too purple

scarletfingernail · 11/02/2012 22:50

musical don't worry about how much weight you've put on or not put on. As long as you're eating healthily and regularly everything is fine. The baby will take what it needs from your reserves anyway. You would starve before the baby did.

I put on just under 1 stone with DS. He was 7lb 14oz.

PurpleWithaBlueBun · 11/02/2012 22:56

Music in my first pregnancy I put on a stone by my booking in appointment! Then nothing, then another stone or more all in the last few weeks!! This time I have put on weight steadily from about 14-16 weeks and have put on about 2st at 36 weeks. So don't worry, your bump will be measured soon if it isn't already? And then you know your growing a healthy baby to schedule.

Dream the children's clothes are gorgeous on that site don't look! I have realised the nice pink dress isn't in my size :( however there are a few others that are ok too and I much prefer the prices!

DreamingOfPeace · 11/02/2012 23:06

I know, i did wonder if I could do a size 8 again by 8 weeks post birth and then thought how ridiculous, of course not!!!!

DreamingOfPeace · 11/02/2012 23:07

in fact, after twins, I may never, ever wear one again- and to be fair, Im more a 10 anyway I think

PurpleWithaBlueBun · 11/02/2012 23:13

I am quite scared what size I am going to be! Maternity clothes are usually generous, so does the fact that my jeans are getting tight at a 12 mean I will be like a 16? Shock I have always struggled a bit with dresses as boobs are usually 10 inches bigger than my waist and clothes are not cut for those proportions! Apart from Bravissimo/Pepperberry which I

musicalmrs · 11/02/2012 23:15

Thanks for the reassurance! Glad to know it's not just me - which obviously I'd presumed, but it's still worrying when you're not sure!

Purple, it was measured at my last appointment - however, the measurements the MW has written down are always dead on what they should be (the same number of cms as per week?). Bit suspicious about that! But I've heard about putting on lots in the last few weeks (and that being when the stretch marks suddenly make an appearance too!). Maybe as soon as I stop bouncing around at work the weight will pile on.

scarlet, glad to know I'd starve before the baby does. On that logic, therefore, if I'm feeling fine then the baby must be getting enough nutrients!

Dream - good point that there's nothing they can actually do to make me eat/put on more! I sometimes wake up hungry in the night, though to be honest I've been snacking on cereal bars when that happens more and more in an effort to help myself get back to sleep. Having talked to a couple of friends on Twitter, think I'll be making myself some higher-calorie snacks (oat cookies? fruity flapjacks?) and snacking on them a little more if I can. But you're right, I am naturally s

The main insert I've been looking at is the snuzzler. I like the look of the P&T cocoons, but I'm worried that the LO could overheat in the summer, which is when they'll need the insert most (size wise)? Especially seen as lots of the reviews say how warm they are! I saw a recommendation for Toys R Us newborn inserts somewhere, but I haven't been to one recently to look at them.

Currently most tempted by the Snuzzler - but only because it's the one I set my eyes on first!

PurpleWithaBlueBun · 11/02/2012 23:20

Music you can measure yourself as well and if you go up a cm a week then that is fine. It is the consistent growth they are looking for mostly so if you measure from your pubic bone to the top of your bump when you are lying down and do it in the same place weekly then you should be fine.

I haven't looked at snuzzlers .etc but I thought most cocoons have a zip off front so you can just use the liner bit? And yes the baby just takes what it needs. I think my sudden weight gain was from about 34 weeks and I suddenly got stretchmarks.etc

PurpleWithaBlueBun · 11/02/2012 23:29

NEW BUMP PIC

musicalmrs · 11/02/2012 23:53

That's a great idea about the measuring, thanks. Don't know why I didn't think of that - so obvious!

Hadn't realised that lots of the cocoons unzip too! Need to do more research I think. I'm off shopping with my mother next week, so will have a hunt around some of the stores, and will hopefully find some to play with. I also don't want to spend a huge amount though, as I don't think I'll use it much at all - I really just want something so the buggy is an option - especially if the grandparents want to use it.

Also, fabulous bump! :) Will try to get DH to take another one of me tomorrow.

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 12/02/2012 00:04

Neat bump Purple!

I'm glad to hear the huge variance in the weight everyone is putting on! Despite the puking at the beginning I didn't lose much (if any) weight at the start, and since then I've put on about half a stone (currently 29 weeks). I'm not too worried because my bump is growing at the average rate (1 cm per week) and my LO ticked the right measurements at the last scan (26 weeks). However with some people saying they've put on 2 stone already, and one of my pg RL friends putting on THREE stone by 26 weeks, I did wonder if I was a bit abnormal! Well I already know I'm abnormal but I was kind of hoping my pg wouldn't be! Grin I'm not skinny at all by the way which might affect it, I like to think of myself as curvy Wink

I love all the pretty dresses by the way! You guys will be gorgeous new mummies (for the 2nd time) at your weddings! Careful not to outshine the bride!

jenfraggle · 12/02/2012 08:33

Well as I'm very good at putting on weight hence being a size 20, I'm amazed that I still weigh less at 26 weeks then I did when I fell pregnant. I haven't had my bump measured yet but mw hasn't commented on it at all so not too worried.

Biscuitsandtea · 12/02/2012 08:35

And now it's flipping snowing as well Confused

And DS has still got an up and down temp (although fortunately we did manage to get some calpol yesterday to help)

And the car is still abandoned - although DH has set off in a taxi to meet the RAC man.

Gah!

pommedechocolat · 12/02/2012 08:51

I put weight on steadily during pg - both times I've put on half a stone on the first trimester which docs never believe! My 12 week weight is down as my pre pg weight in my notes.

At 37 weeks I have put on two stone - same as I did by 38 weeks with dd. I think I will put some more on in the next two weeks the rate at which I'm inhaling chocolate! Two weeks tomorrow till induction so 29 more injections and 15 more grim maternity outfits to go at the most!

Biscuits - cant believe you have snow too! Your mum may have been right for the wrong reasons it seems!

Dd still has a sore mouth although she did sleep well. It's horrible to watch her try to eat and then just cry instead. I'm really hoping its not hand foot and mouth given my stage of pg!

Purple - very neat bump! I didn't notice the wallpaper!

Dream - the rest of your body is starting to look very tiny compared to your bump!

DreamingOfPeace · 12/02/2012 09:21

Oh rubbish, I forgot to look at the wallpaper too, now I'll have to go back!!! Lovely neat bump purple. I put mine on fb for my sister (mistake number one) so apart from the you're pg again! Comments from those I don't see much I've had loads of unhelpful ones like- god, if you're that big now you're going to actually pop, how do you not fall forwards, are you eating all the pies (probably am!) , your skin will never be the same again after that amount of stretching. Cheers. So that's why I don't normally post on fb!!!

pomme I never caught hand foot and mouth from my dd, and neither did my dad who was on childcare while I worked that week (though dh did) apparently the majority of adults will have immunity so don't panic yet!! Hope she feels better soon.

DreamingOfPeace · 12/02/2012 09:23

Oh, I did have some lovely comments too but it'd the mean ones that stick!

pommedechocolat · 12/02/2012 13:03

That's really rude of people dream. Ignore, ignore!

Dd had h f and m last summer but had nothing in her mouth, this time she's just got a yucky mouth no spots anywhere else. I'm hoping it's oral thrush tbh.

Have spent too much time reading about back to back labours as dd was back to back and never turned and back to back induction was not lovely. I can deal with induction but back to back again would scare me...

One of dh's friends delivered his second child in bed a couple of nights ago. An unplanned home birth as was just so quick! That's scary too!
