pomme my dd was back to back too . Maybe that's another reason I can blame for my induction phobia!! 2 weeks tomorrow, oh my goodness, so exciting! Do you know what position dd2 is in? I think I'd do the unplanned fast home birth- at least its fast and you don't have to go into hospital!! One of the gp's dh worked with had an unplanned fast home birth. Third child, contractions erratically for a week, been out with her.husband, she said to him she didn't feel quite right, he said don't be ridiculous and went to sleep a bit drunkenly... A bit later she thought she needed the loo, went and had the urge to push!!! Shouted her husband, he came, had a near heart attack and had to deliver their dd! She said he found some kitchen scissors, and a food bag clip, did the cord, then they woke the boys to show them the new baby (most disinterested she said) and they all got in bed, went to sleep and rang the mw in the morning to say she'd had the baby! That sounds good to me.

DreamingOfPeace · 12/02/2012 13:36

Hmm, may be more scary with no medical knowledge at all though- did your friends husband have to do much? They (mw's) do things like check the cords not round the neck don't they as head comes out? eek. Clearly its fine though, and will be most of the time...

I like the counting down of grim maternity outfits, but does this mean you expect to pop back into shape so quickly normal clothes will do after the birth?!

pommedechocolat · 12/02/2012 13:59

I think he did dream - he definitely found it scary. Baby was 9lbs too!!

All the reading I've done suggests first babies more likely to be back to back. Dd2 is currently moving from side to side so fingers crossed she doesn't slip round. It does seem that back to back and induction and first labour is the most painful so I guess anything else will feel okay to us ?!

Maybe not totally normal clothes esp due to bf clothes but I hope to be significantly deflated so that fat day jeans and tunic tops fit. With dd I was back to normal clothes really quickly. Am being head in sand (whatever my mother says) that it will be the same this time round...

jaggythistle · 12/02/2012 14:04

I've just invested in 2 cheap pairs of leggings and some yoga pants specifically because i am pretty sure I'll be in maternity stuff for a while, so I'll get the wear out of it!

we've just been out for an approx 3 mile walk, really felt the need to do something. looking forward to more daylight so it's easier to get out more. i did that same walk when overdue with DS, must have taken ages to lumber round! or i maybe wasn't so unfit...Blush

sorry to hear about all the aches and pains and yet more poorly dc! :(

DS seems fine now, still a bit picky with food though. every meal is not composed of cereal now so it may be improving... he'll eat plenty of pasta/rice etc but is really unhappy about the bolognese/curry or whatever that is with it, so i feel he's not getting many 'proper' meals. might try scrambled egg for tea or something.

the variety of stuff he'd eat was getting small enough before! someone tell me he'll magically stop being in the huff about dating anything other than cheerios one day...

jaggythistle · 12/02/2012 14:20

my main birth related worry at the moment is getting my parents here to look after DS in plenty of time. they live about 2.5 hours drive away, so if they were all ready could maybe get here in 3. i don't want to end up in hospital too early this time, but don't want to leave it too late either!

i was trying to imagine me doing my natal hypnotherapy stuff and relaxing while worrying about them driving. i think i will have to make it DH's job to get them here!

I'm finding the pregnancy relaxation one quite nice so far. i bought it before i got the vbac one, so i have listened to the first cd from that too. i am quite impatient to listen to the birth preparation one, but i think 32 weeks is recommended! I've no idea how I'll get on but i figure being more relaxed can't hurt. :)

Wants3 · 12/02/2012 16:58

We have decided to go for the cabriofix with easy fix base.it was DH who was thinking about car to pushchair. When I pointed out to him the recommended time spent in seat and how many situations we would actually need to have carseat on wheels, he saw sense! We will still go for Britax pushchair with carrycot. Just need the money fairy to visit and I can start shopping!

14 weeks to go, 8 left at work ( I am not counting half term and Easter hols!)
I have been trying to enjoy everything about this pregnancy as I know it is my last. Touchwood I have kept well so far:) I am also secretly hoping that this labour will be quick like the last one but not too quick so DH can get back from work. ( 1 and half hour commute)I am not planning to stay in hospital for more than a few hours after baby is born but I will pack my bag to cover 12 hours if they need to keep us in for obs ( eg meconium in the water).
Sorry, bit bracket happy in this post:)

DreamingOfPeace · 12/02/2012 17:09

pomme, I was back in my normal clothes by 4 weeks post-birth last time. Not sure if it will be so easy this time as I'll be so much bigger by then end.

Today I am having a tired flap about not having anything to pack in a hospital bag. And obviously the aim of packing it (or at least having things ready to be packed!) is to hold off labour til my section date at 37+6. So, those who had a ceasarian (jaggy? Loopy?) what form of big knickers do i need for if I do have a section? Just normal big knickers, maternity ones?

anyway, i'm so tired and grumpy I shouldn't be let loose on mn...

be back later, maybe!

jaggythistle · 12/02/2012 18:23

just ordinary big pants! mine were asda ones about £3 for 5. (black of course) came up to my ribs i think!

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 12/02/2012 19:02

I've got some M&S classic full briefs for post-section, £7 for 5 from the outlet store. They come up to my navel now, so will probably come up to my boobs when I'm not pg. I didn't even have to buy a bigger size than usual. Sexy...

jenfraggle · 12/02/2012 19:06

You are highlighting how unfashionable I am, you are describing my normal pants! I can't bear low slung pants.

Loopyhasanotherbean · 12/02/2012 19:46

yep, i had very cheap big pants, DP bought them from tescos, white as no colour choice though! (wasn't something i thought about as wasn't exactly planning on an EMCS under GA!!) but will have plenty of black ones ready this time :)

Loopyhasanotherbean · 12/02/2012 19:50

and poss TMI dream but if you have an overhang after the birth, (which i guess is even more likely with twins) then it may well hang down and stick to your wound dressing, which is not nice as every time i tried to move, i was pulling the overhang skin away from the dressing and it felt as though i was pulling the wound apart - but i wasn't - it was just my overhanging tummy sticking to the dressing! i've since heard you can get cooling belts that you can wear over the dressing/wound which helps with healing and also would stop what i've described, again, not something i knew about as i didn't research anything to do with CS's as i was planning on a calm home waterbirth!!

PurpleWithaBlueBun · 12/02/2012 19:56

Hello! I have some exciting news! My baby has gone from being completely free to 3/5ths engaged in a week! That explains the niggles! The only annoying thing is that I still have the rib pain, I thought it would have gone once the baby dropped. Dd never engaged though until labour so this is new territory for me.

They also did a presentation scan which was new, just a hand held device to make sure the baby is head down. The baby has his hand by his face which is how Dd came out the monkeys! Dd was an OP baby and this one has his head towards the back whatever that means? I am not too worried though, I think bouncing on my ball has helped with the engaging. Exciting stuff!

Not liking these surprise deliveries as I worry it might happen to me! It is not though I will be arriving in a nice timely fashion to climb into the birth pool and it is going to be perfect!

I have packed my biggest pants that I own in my bag and hoping they will be fine, they are mostly the shorts type ones and they are old so don't mind if I have to just throw them out.
Dream Maybe a mix of up to the armpits ones and really low ones would be good, so you can see what would be most comfortable?

Clothes wise, I was shopping a week after Dd as I was too fat for my normal clothes and too thin for maternity it was really awkward! I am going to have to buy more after this baby too I think and will buy more bf stuff as I never really bothered with Dd so might make life simpler?

I hope everyone has had a nice weekend?

jaggythistle · 12/02/2012 20:07

maternity ones sit right on the wound after cs dream so no use. i bought a size bigger than pre pg but did have to buy slightly smaller ones eventually. still huge though, i hated anything on my scar for ages. :)

hawthers · 12/02/2012 20:11

dream find the biggest pants possible. I had some massive Apple catchers from primark that I got a little over attached too...

jaggythistle · 12/02/2012 20:15

sounds good purple i am rubbish at remembering what way round baby's head should be though.

it has been nice thanks, especially getting some fresh air, although I'm tired now!

loopy the glamour of the overhangy bit eh! mine didn't do the sticking thing, but midwife did suggest i should lie down a bit more to try and let the area get some air a bit. this seemed fairly sensible as i was sat feeding a lot. (i pretty much failed to take this advice) i did get a slight infection and end up on 2 lots of antibiotics though, not sure if taking it easier would have helped. :)

Biscuitsandtea · 12/02/2012 20:40

So, hypothetically speaking, if one should find that they had piles while pregnant, can the doctor give you anything for them?

DreamingOfPeace · 12/02/2012 20:52

Thanks for the great pants advice! I have heard its hard to give them up once you move to big knickers!! I got a little too attached to the disposable knickers last time Blush . Now you mention it loopy I remember my step-sister talking about the overhang, and she got MRSA in her wound too with her third. I shall have a whopping overhang looking at the size of me now! I will buy the biggest pants I can find! Think is best get at least one size too big as I'm going to be mammoth. And maybe two sizes too big as well, just in case!

And I weighed myself and measured my bump today- I am the weight I was when I had dd! So actually I've put on 1st 11lb already. So far all bump I'd hope say. And my top of pubic bone to bump measurement was 37, so 7 weeks ahead.

Hooray purple!! 3/5ths engaged is great apart from the extra bladder pressure . Crap about the ribs though, it ought to go, very unfair. My ribs have got to the stage where I just can't lie on my side, they're too painful. I have to sleep on my back with a slight tilt each way to change position. I think I just slipped around in maternity stuff for the first 2 weeks, then fitted in my looser tops and i just wore bump bands and normal tops when feeding, cheaper than buying feeding tops! Did the mw think your baby might be putting in an appearance sooner rather than later then?

We had a lovely day yesterday, at soft play and walking in the snow in the Lakes, but today I've been so exhausted I've been a total bitch neither use nor ornament. Just hoping dd will go to sleep soon so I can. Come on kid, night time!!!!!

pommedechocolat · 12/02/2012 21:09

Biscuits - pharmacist told me not of they were bleeding and if not just a small amount for just a few days which does bugger all.

Hypothetically speaking of course :)

It is something that is bothering me about the birth a bit too..

Biscuitsandtea · 12/02/2012 21:13

Oh Sad

scarletfingernail · 12/02/2012 21:45

Oh Biscuits that sucks Sad. Hypothetically speaking of course Wink

You guys talking about C-section wounds has reminded me to share a tip for those who end up with stitches in the fanjo.
Do NOT use a body puff while showering. Common sense did not kick in and it hurt. A lot.

How exciting Purple. I would guess that if he's head is towards the back that would mean he's facing the right way round? Back to back babies are described as "face to pubes" I think? Although I suspect that's not an official medical term Grin

Wants3 · 12/02/2012 22:02

Well the money fairy obliged! A cheque is in the post to cover the cost of the seat and base. :) I will try and order it this week while I am not at work.
Sorry to hear about the hypothetical piles, ime none of the 'applications' seem to do much good.

PurpleWithaBlueBun · 12/02/2012 22:13

Nice when you get a gift from the money fairy!

Scarlet with Dd her back was towards my back, I think she turned before I pushed her out, but I don't know! Anyway I am not overly concerned about op as been there done that IYKWIM?

Biscuits I have nothing much to suggest apart from switching to moist toilet tissue and having regularly warm baths?

Jaggy cephalic is head down.

My MW said it could be any time from now that I could go into labour and I can't believe I am so close to the end although as I am counting my pg to 42 weeks it still means I have possible 5 weeks 5 days which is disheartening! This baby needs to get out! Except I need to get started on the perineal massage. Blush I am immensely cheered by the 3/5ths as maybe just maybe I won't be so late??

Dream I weighed myself and almost fainted! I weigh more than my husband! I have a grim fascination with it though.. Just how heavy will I get?!

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 12/02/2012 22:19

That sucks Biscuits! (Hypothetically speaking of course). I'm not sure about doctor prescriptions, but as far as I know the standard over the counter stuff is mostly fine - germoloids and anusol are fine so long as you don't go for the HC versions. (I only know this because during the first week when I had my BFP and the puking hadn't kicked in yet, I briefly tried to convert to a healthy diet overnight, and it gave me the WORST piles!)

I'm trying to pack my hospital bag for either a cs or vb at the moment, so thanks for the overhang advice!

DreamingOfPeace · 12/02/2012 22:31

Hypothetically speaking, you can take large amounts of lactulose for symptom control that way... Friends have taken movicol which is even better but officially says not for use in pg...
