Pooh new babies and puzzle sorry to hear about your NC but good news on new baby :). Please do let us know when he arrives

Have serious bum pain tonight. Can't sit comfortable at all. On the plus side I had a fair few bowel movements earlier and a tiny bit of show so fingers crossed although I am not holding out any hope after earlier stop starts :(. Took me 3 hours to get comfy and sleep last night but dud sleep, till about half five.

mumsrthebest · 24/02/2012 11:59

I had my sweep yesterday and it was quite painful. MW said that the baby's head was very low and she could put 2 fingers inside me which is good for a first time mother.
I lost my mucus plug this morning. I feel very delicate today and I have back ache. Occasional twinges too. How long do you think girlies? x

McQueasy · 24/02/2012 12:10

Mumsrbest, sounds like you are definitely in the early stages!
Get some rest and good food before things really kick off!!
I'm still here, another terrible nights sleep but can see the light at the end of the tunnel now! Roll on Monday xxx

FundusCrispyPancake · 24/02/2012 12:57

Sorry to hear you had such a hard time coffee , congratulations on the arrival of your little boy though Thanks , hope you have a speedy recovery.

Sounds like your sweep was more successful than mine McQueasy

FundusCrispyPancake · 24/02/2012 12:58

Emz33 · 24/02/2012 13:37

Had second sweep yday and nothing happening so far... Am booked in for induction on 28th (will be 40+12) - could be a leap year baby!

Am actually starting to think this baby is all a figment of my imagination! Wink

McQueasy · 24/02/2012 15:17

I though you knew something I didn't there fundus Wink
Emz, fundus, anyone else who is overdue and fed up..,
Shall we start a moany thread where we can find safety and freedom from the "any news?" comments, sympathetic head tilts
EVERYONE telling you their birth stories or worse, perfect strangers telling you to have sex Angry
Love to all the 'overdue' ladies xxx

hermionejgranger · 24/02/2012 20:47

Oh maaaaan I'm missing all the fun - Zhen in labour!!! And puzzletree expecting again - so pleased for you!

Well although the MW said I was 1-2cm dilated and that my cervix was favourable, there's not a lot happening! Have had some twinges and cramps, and some spotting today, but nothing that feels like it's the actual thing, iykwim. 2nd sweep booked for Monday, induction on Wednesday - could be a leapling (sorry monkey but I would love to have you as my birth sharing buddy should you wish to join me!). More likely to need to fit a tow bar and a trailer to the back of the Feb bus for all of us overdue ladies hanging on into March! I think we should make it a really comfy trailer with lovely fluffy cushions, chocolate and cakes.

I'm hereby invoking the Law of Sod and am wearing white pants and clean pyjamas, and have sent DH out with DB to watch Worcester Warriors play Saracens. And he's not driving. So will be drinking. Anyone want to offer me odds on it happening tonight?

Love to you all and lots of dilate-y vibes!!

41 weeks today!!!

hermionejgranger · 25/02/2012 04:06

hermionejgranger · 25/02/2012 08:27

Oooh McQ I like your pompoms :-) contracting about every 8 minutes now for about 45 seconds each time and they are starting to smart now! Dh had 5 pints last night and came home at about 12 so he should be OK in a couple of hours. I'm going to be a mummy!

McQueasy · 25/02/2012 08:37

McQueasy · 25/02/2012 14:10

How are you hg??? X

hermionejgranger · 26/02/2012 02:34

He's here! Daniel Joseph Paul arrived at 1510 on 25 February, weighing 8 lb 13 oz. Contractions started coming thick and fast at about 10 am and hurt like a bastard so i rang the hospital and went in at about 12 to find i was 2 cm dilated! i was not at all prepared for how much they hurt - turns out he was back to back! Screamed the unit down and demanded an epidural. Mw did another internal at about 1 PM and i was 10 cm - no epidural for me. Delivery was quick too but have i think 4 2 nd degree tears in perineum and near to urethra which have all been stitched. Quite pleased that i managed on

hermionejgranger · 26/02/2012 02:38

oops not ready to post yet...Gas and air but very sore and next time (if there is one) I will be having an epidural. No question.
Bit annoyed i didn't manage my planned water birth and that i ended up pushing on my back a la obem but that was how it worked out so .
I love my son :-D

littlemonkeybix · 26/02/2012 06:04

Massive congratulations Hermione Yaaaaay for babies xx

how are out other overdue peeps and contractors doing?!

Im getting thoroughly bored of numb fingers useless thumbs and clicky fanoire..

mw D-Day was sat... GP D-Day is Mon.. scan/notes D-Day Mon 5th... come on pip... show yourself!!

McQueasy · 26/02/2012 09:55

Hurrah!!!!
Well done mummy hermione. The phrase 'hurt like a bastard' is suggesting you may be a fellow scots mummy??
Soo pleased for you and your new beautiful son.
Still hanging in there, still no contractions. Waiting for induction now. Getting very narky and pissed off with dh!
Sad

hermionejgranger · 26/02/2012 11:59

I'm not of the scots persuasion actually - just supremely eloquent! ;-) I think it is one of the best descriptive phrases in the English language :-D the boy slept very well last night and is learning to feed OK. I hate my stitches though. And if they offer me edging paracetamol as "pain relief" again I'm going to stick it up their arse.

hermionejgranger · 26/02/2012 12:00

That was effing, of course, not edging!

deardear · 26/02/2012 12:01

I shouldn't laugh HG but you do make me with your phrases. Glad Bert has arrived at last safe and sound. Ouch on the fanjo! Look forward to pics

McQueasy · 26/02/2012 12:03

Stitches are awful!!
Take a jug of water with you to loo and pour water on them when you need to pee or just pee in the bath Grin
Your ds sounds like a wee star! Glad he's behaving xx

ZhenThereWereTwo · 26/02/2012 13:01

Congratulations Coffee sorry to hear you had a hard time, it is worth it though :)

Well done Hermione, OP 8lb 13 oz with just gas and air, no wonder it 'hurt like a bastard', welcome Daniel Thanks

Well I had an interesting labour. Builders were still in my house at 3pm when my contractions suddenly went from 6 minutes to 2 mins apart in less than half hour. Left them the keys with instructions to clear up and get out and got sleeping DD1 into car ready to go to hospital. Got into back seat and waters went, cue back to back contractions rolling into one another and feeling like pushing. My mum phoned for an ambulance, whilst I woke up DD1 with all the noise I was making, with builders looking on from the sidelines! Blue-lighted to hospital trying not to push as didn't know if I was 10cm yet. Got into delivery room, told 10cm, pushed but babies heart rate was dropping after contractions. Pushed for half hour, taken to theatre still pushing given spinal block and attempted ventouse. In the end they couldn't turn her she was occiput transverse so another EMCS for me. Lost 800mls of blood, but I am fine now, just sore.

Nalani was born at 6.08pm weighing 7lb 13.5oz. Back at home now, got home yesterday afternoon, she is feeding well, my milk came in today and DD1 is chuffed to be a big sister :)

Sending birthing vibes to all those still waiting, come on babies, just a few days left of February, run for that bus!

ZhenThereWereTwo · 26/02/2012 13:02

Sorry forgot to put that she was born on the 23rd, doh!

Xavielli · 26/02/2012 18:14

Woooohooo! Babies! Well done HJG and Zhen! xx

claricestar · 26/02/2012 18:19

my 3rd DC, a DD2 arrived on Wednesday at 4.20am, 8lb 5oz. DC2 was a fast labour followed by a PPH, so with this one the hospital were happy to admit me in early labour. had a show and some cramps on tues morning. went into town and picked up new glasses, had a coffee etc....cramps turned to mild irregular contractions in the evening, ones that I could talk through easily. went to hospital at 11, contractions still irregular and mild, but they were happy for me to potter about and agreed not to examine me until the contractions established themselves. examined at 3ish? 2-3cm. got into bath, got more intense...got out of bath, stood leaning on bed having contractions on top of each other, started gas and air. had canula put in hand ready for 3rd stage (to prevent pph), got on all 4s on bed hanging over back of bed. transition....aaargh!, pushed baby out. 1st stage recorded as 40mins, 2nd stage 8 mins....fast, but had a few hours of "early labour" to warm up! 2nd degree tear but healing well.
feel very lucky to have had a straightforward birth...and even luckier to be a mother of three beautiful DCs.
sorry for poor punctuation, one handed typing due to holding baby!
good luck anyone left on the bus!
