less than 24 hours since my last post and about 40 messages. So glad everyone else is as motivated as I am in the office this week! :o

TDW yay for a boy!
justwantcheese yay for a girl!

I can't wait to find out... hope the baby is in an exhibitionist mood on 7th Feb!

ceej the cheesecake was yum, and only 1/4 finished. there is officially a limit to how much whipped cream and sugar a girl can eat! Your party sounds great, i'm quite jealous. All my freinds are either too far away or a bit blase after having 3 of their own.

Florin I am now massievly jealous of yoru holiday. Not in the mood for work, no motivation and want to go lie in the sun and swim in warm seas. Plus DH is very stressed about work so we're both a bit on edge and i'd love to whisk him away and make him a bit cheerier. I'm going to live vicariously through you so i expact lots of lovely details when you return please.

Kveta you have the same birthday as my DH but same age as me... DH is 35 this year and reckons he's feeling every year of it. Not sure where's any good in London, but hope you have a lovely day.

callmemamma we are in sync it seems... due the same day, have the same scan date and i too just saw midwife and got to hear the heartbeat. Also suffering form a cold and its miserable without all the lovely lovely drugs. The lemon and ginger cheesecake worked a treat though.

milly love the image of your hulking big bloke hanging out the side of teh bed while you lie in cushioned splendour :) good work on persuading him to get the dream genie... i could learn a lot from those tactics ;)

mini thanks for the concern. i peed in a pot for tests today. Midwife agreed the pain was exactly where my kidneys are. Also seem to have permanent lower right abdo pain now and a lot of blood wghen i went to the loo earlier (not the baby exit) slightly alarming! Will call the doc tomorrow if no better and go see him.

sorry special but the ever goriwng boobs is a great image. Mine always pop out of stuff so i can't really tell if they're any worse than usual? I'm a really stupid shape now though, I'm a 5'9" size 12 usually, but i seem to be gaining lumps in really odd places. Big bump, boobs and saddle bags. Sexy! I look like a Mrs Potato head.

teaandhobnobs mattress toppers are great and not too hot, but very expensive for a nice one. try TKMaxx if there is one near you, they do good ones cheaper.

sorry if i missed anyone, you should all just write less :) it is impossible to keep up with who does what and when! Esecially hard without an image to attach to a person as I am usually a very visual memory kind of a person.

I'm off to yogabirth again tonight and i always feel a bit stupid there. Loads of the other women are 30 + weeks and seem to have no problem with any of the positions but I get sore just sitting up straight. My posture is appalling recently. i think it was spending 2 months vomiting off the edge of the sofa. i reeeeeaaaaaallly need to go swimming more but i never seem to have the time! tried a postufre chair in the office today but still seem able to slouch. maybe a poker up the arse!

emblosion · 24/01/2012 17:57

Wow, you guys have all been so busy posting!

Congratulations to cheese and TDW on your lovely scan news!

I am also in the ever growing boobs club, I have gone up a size already and need to get measured again as my new bras are getting really uncomfy.

Florin, am so jealous of your holiday Envy have an awesome time!

tea that doesn't sound fair about the promotion panel at work, you shouldn't be excluded just because your preggo! Could you mention it to your boss in an 'ahem, I appear to have been overlooked' non-accusational way?

My mum sent me some really cute baby gros today, our first baby things! Am going to have to superstitiously hide them away til after next scan tho!

Right, off to make dinner, hello to everyone else!

SeriouslyStrongCheddar · 24/01/2012 18:06

Afternoon all!

Well, I've just caught up on everthing since I went on hols last week - you've been a busy bunch!

So, we had a lovely 4 nights in Venice and got back yesterday - very relaxing and a fabulous break. Highlight of it was afternoon tea at Cafe Florian (twice - but not on the same day!) which was awesome. Walked loads which felt great as I've been sat on my ever expanding arse for four and a half months and was starting to feel very unfit. Hoping to find a way to get back in the gym soon to get some exercise in as I really miss it.

I also wish I hadn't bought maternity jeans in a size too big - actually, I ordered them two sizes bigger than normal as I've put on so much weight. They don't stay up (at all) and I had to buy an emergency pair of braces. Nothing more stylish than walking round Venice in what looks to be a pair of clown trousers held up by black braces with pink stars on them. DH's comment when he saw me, whilst trying not to laugh, was 'do they come with big red shoes?' Angry Grin. I may have to order some smaller jeans to save my sanity (no point trying to save my dress sense - never had any).

Came back to another invitation for a 20 week scan. Very confused as I already had one booked for 6th Feb...this one is also for 6th Feb, just at a different time! Tried to call them today to find out if it replaces the old one or what, but was just an answer machine so will have to try again tomorrow. Also got a letter from an Outreach Worker at Sure Start wanting to visit on Friday to introduce herself. Have re-scheduled her to the end of Feb - can anyone tell me what the hell that visit's all about? I don't really understand how they fit in everything as I thought the Midwives then Health Visitors covered everything between them!

Right, off to catch up on some other stuff so hope everyone has a good evening.

Florin · 24/01/2012 18:58

millyv I have emotional outbursts like that sometime, feel a bit sorry for dh having to out up with me bit sometimes I just feel overly emotional. Oh and get on and order the dream genii it is fab. I so want to take mine on holiday but dh says no!

specialjk know how you feel about working out what will fit luckily my boobs have finally stopped for now (gone up fair few cup sizes) however bump is expanding by the minute. Have had to sort my holiday clothes out three times as each time I re try on lots more don't fit-good excuse to go shopping for maternity clothes though! I would suggest sending coast dress back if it doesn't fit now its not going to magically fit for the wedding and then buying something slightly larger with a bit of stretch in it. Your boobs have got to stop growing at some point!
justwantcheese congratulations on your little girl, glad there will be another girl to start balancing out all our boys!
Right back to the packing for me-will check in later.

Boysrstupid · 24/01/2012 19:29

Evening all,

Thank you for the Welcomes. I am phone only access so wont make the list, but will enjoy whinging on being part of the thread.

Bad news for me, my Dad died last night. Lost my Mum in August & partner buggered off end of Oct when saw BFP. So am a big ball of hormonal grief at the moment. Feel like I might cry forever.

My head is banging, I'm on daily asprin to prevent Pre-eclampsia so I'm reluctant to take any pain medication... Would a couple of para's and a glass of G&T really do babè any harm???

Babè is very active at the moment so thats a welcome distraction (17+4 been feeling movement for couple wks).

TDW 22 months is a lovely gap. My 2 boys are 2yrs5days apart and they are the best of friends and always have been. Playful squabbles aside obviously. Many congratulations.

Sorry to be a misery (every party has a pooper eh?) Just wanted to offload really. I'm not usually a miserable moo honest.

thedogwalker · 24/01/2012 19:47

Hi, can I join in too? I'm due with number 3 on 20th June so I'm 19 weeks tomorrow.

Funny reading how many are feeling your babies move, I keep getting the odd flutter and I'm sure by now DS1 was very busy in there. Can't wait for my scan on the 9th Feb to check everything is really all right in there!

Hugs to Boysrstupid - that's a lot to deal with, hope you feel a bit better soon.

Oh yes, I think I need to upgrade my bra too, not quite sure how massive my poor boobs are going to get this time!

KatyJ26 · 24/01/2012 20:20

Scan went well today, baby was still a bit awkward, but they got the heart measurements and it was lovely to see him/her again! My DH couldn't come to this one, so I took my mum - who loved it! Was tempted to ask the sex and then not tell DH I had asked (we 'agreed' we didn't want to find out) but thought that was a bit harsh! Funny to think that's the last time I'll see him/her now until D-Day! Struggling massively to think of names - we both like similar boys names and think we have one now, but definitely have a shortlist of a few. But girls - afrrrggghhh! We find it so difficult. There are lots that we like, but we want to 'love' it and it also has to 'go' with my current DD and DS names, which are traditional English names - ah well, good job we've got a bit of time left.

Hi to everyone here - am struggling to keep up with all the posts! Will read properly tomorrow. I'm enjoying a peaceful evening, calm before the storm because if last night was anything to go by, I could have a turbulent night ahead of me! It was like musical beds last night (DD has cough and DS has Bronchiolitis :( )

Boysrstupid · 24/01/2012 20:22

Thank you very much TDW Due 29/6.

Have ignored the painkillers and opted for a brew and an early night instead.

KatyJ26 · 24/01/2012 20:23

oh man, just read boysarestupid post - thinking of you = no words of wisdom, but moan away, we'll happily listen.

and welcome cathfin

Boysrstupid · 24/01/2012 20:26

Welcome CathFin Thank you for your thoughts. Come join me in the newgirl corner Grin

10000fireflies · 24/01/2012 20:51

Oh Boys, what awful news. You really are having a tough time. I hope you are getting good support in RL. Can you check with your MW tomorrow what painkillers you can have? Off-load whenever you want. There are lots of broad shoulders on this thread.

Welcome Cathfin.

Special get a refund on the Coast dress and don't try and squeeze those norks into something which doesn't fit. How about this?

Great to hear all the good news from scans and MW appts. Keep them coming!! FF xx

Kayzr · 24/01/2012 20:59

Hi Cathfin Grin

Boysrstupid I am so so sorry SadSad please feel free to moan all you want here. Thinking of you xx

Dalrymps · 24/01/2012 21:22

Evening Smile

Can't remember if I've already said this but TDW congratulations on your boyGrin My two boys love each other (despite the fighting!) and love to play togetherSmile

Boys So sorry you're having such a hard time at the momentSad feel free to moan as much as you like. Hope things start to look at little brighter for you soon. We're all here any time you need support x

millyv · 24/01/2012 21:39

Just a quick one as trying to keep up with all if the posts! I picked up a dream genii on the way home from work, DH is hoping he'll get more of the bed tonight- will report back tomorrow!

boys I'm so sorry to hear your situation, feel free to make yourself at home!

Good night everyone!

Xx

emblosion · 25/01/2012 00:31

millyv just googled the dream genii, it looks fab, i'll be interested to hear if its comfy!

boys so sorry about your dad, gosh, you have had an awful time in the last few months. I hope you are hanging iin there and that happier times are fast approaching for you. On a practical note you should be fine to take paracetamol, just don't exceed the recommended dose.

Welcome cathfin and goodnight all!

CathFin · 25/01/2012 07:15

KatyJ - sounds just like my house DS1 had croup last week and we all have some virus that makes us cough all night, never at the same time mind you. Its made me rather aware of the fragility of my pelvic floor too - joy!

Wonder if I'm going to keep up with all the news on this thread!

Warlin · 25/01/2012 09:13

Morning all

Boys sorry you're having such a hard time but feel free to moan here anytime. How can your boyfriend disappear at such news......:(

milly jealous of your dream geni....mine still has not dispatched from amazon a week after ordering because of stock issues...I want it now! :)

Great news on the scan katy and well done for avoiding the temptation to ask the flavour!

I don't feel very well today....is anyone else totally exhausted and finding work and concentration difficult? I feel like I did in the first 12 weeks again in terms of tiredness......just want sleep! This is such a long week.....Sorry for the moan :)

Warlin · 25/01/2012 09:15

Oh and SSC your holiday sounds fab! My sister spent last year in Italy (Milan) so I went over there a lot....love the food:)

My hunger is back as well so prob for the best I'm not there or I'd be scoffing everything. Had to stop bringing a lunch to work as I was eating it at 11am! I just can't seem to fill up these days Confused

MammaInTheMaking · 25/01/2012 10:30

Hi ladies!

I was really shocked at reading your post Boys. I hope there are people there supporting you.

Warlin i'm still bringing my own lunch into work, but it's just grown in quantity!! Am trying to make sure the extras are good things though. At the moment i'm snacking on a seed/nuts/raisin mix :)

Pregnancy is really starting to affect me now, in the things that I can do. My walk to the train station and then to the office has had to slow down a lot, plus it's getting tiring to do it! DP says he'll be doing pigeon steps soon. And my hips are getting soooo painful in bed or when i'm sat down all day at work. Grrrr....

On the plus side though, baby is moving a lot and the pokes are getting stronger. Last night DP put his ear to my belly to see if he could hear anything. At that very moment baby did a little kick although DP didn't feel it. Don't think it'll be long before he can feel them though.

Special i second the refund on the Coast dress option. I got a baggy shirt in the January sales a couple of sizes bigger than normal. I'm already starting to get close to popping the buttons. I went to a wedding at the weekend and got a maternity dress from ASOS. It's made out of jersey material so very stretchy. I'm pretty certain it could last me until the end of the pregnancy because there's so much give in it.

Kveta · 25/01/2012 10:45

hi all.

boys what a horrid time you are ahving. please do feel free to come and rant as much as you want on this thread - it is for us knocked-up folk to rant about anything we want without our friends thinking we've gone mad, after all!

I'm getting worried now about baby, as I haven't felt her move since monday. She was going mad on monday, and I was saying to DH that he'll be able to feel her kick soon, but nothing since then Confused I'm about to have a cup of diet coke to see if that wakes her up, but otherwise, will just have to sit it out until friday, when I have anomaly scan take 2. I do have a stinking cold right now, and spent all of yesterday coughing and sneezing, so may have just not felt anything because i was doubled up being infectious, but still, it's a worry. I have felt so fatalistic about this pregnancy from day 1, it's bizarre. I think the early mc in august scared me into thinking I'd never have a baby again (melodramatic much?!) and so I'm not letting myself believe in it until she is screaming at me through the night.

ceej thanks for the restaurant ideas - we have gone for the boring option of the Real Greek or Wagamama, as the other places are a bit pricey and/or only have special set menus that day. it's a stupid day for a birthday!! :o itchy my DH is 35 on the 20th of Feb - he says he is feeling every day of his 35 years already :o it's a busy month for us anyway!! DS is going to be so excited by all the cake though!!

MammaInTheMaking · 25/01/2012 10:54

I hope you feel something today Kveta. I sympathise with your worries. In the lead up to my scan i was convinced something had happened because i suddenly didn't feel much. And i am also on edge about this pregnancy following my own MC in August. However following each scan i have renewed optimism that it really will be ok and i just need to have faith that i've got this far. I hope baby gives you a boot once you've had the coke! Mine always does!

CathFin · 25/01/2012 11:43

Kveta - funny I'm really feeling very similar at the moment too plus I also have the stinking cold. I had spotting at the start of this pregnancy and I think its spooked me more than I sometimes realise.

Kveta · 25/01/2012 11:53

thanks cath and mamma diet coke did nothing to her, little mare. hopefully I can have an early night tonight and just lie down for a bit to see if she kicks then.

cath I had spotting at the beginning of this pg, and again at 18 weeks, it's remarkably stressful, isn't it?! and I know that at this stage there is pretty much SFA they could do anyway if anything was wrong. BABIES!!

hopefully she has just turned and is lying in an odd position. I have more fat than I'd like for her to kick through, and an anterior placenta again, so maybe she's just kicking at that or my back, so I can't feel her. My bump has changed shape too, is much smaller than it was on monday Confused.

I really don't remember being this paranoid last time round, but I was moving countries (continents, even!), jobs, and house when 18-22 weeks pg with DS, so had less time to worry! :o

ceeej · 25/01/2012 12:58

Morning all, slept with a pillow between my knees last night and my back felt much better this morning, hoping my dreamgeni turns up soon. Also, I definitely felt a kick this morning, bean was not happy when I rolled on to my stomach to stretch out a bit. kveta I do hope you feel something again soon, I had no idea before getting pregnant quite how neurotic it would make me and it must be so much worse if you've been through mc. She's probably just moved herself into a different position.

mamma I've got slower walking too, I didn't think I had but DH noticed the other day that I was rushing to keep up with him so is now trying to slow down a bit for me.

Warlin I have days where I have 'normal' energy levels and days when I feel exhausted pretty much as soon as I get up.

Welcome Cathfin and Boys, sorry to hear that things aren't going so well for you Boys, sending you a virtual hug.

I got a gym ball from Tesco for a fiver yesterday, it's soooo comfy to sit on and has now temporarily replaced the desk chair.
