Kveta and Cath I am in the same boat as you two, worrying about baby movements too. Haven't felt a thing these last few days. The scan seems so far away as it's on 8th feb.

Boys I am so sorry to hear that you are having such a tough time. We are here for you. A big hug coming your way.

KayJ26 Congrats on your scan and well done for resisting the temptation to find out. My DH doesn't want to find out too so I hope I am as strong as you.

Is anyone else thinking of having a 3d or 4d scan at 29 weeks? I still have to research where and how much but do like the idea in principle.

thedogwalker · 25/01/2012 13:02

Hello all
I'm off work due to the bad cold and sinuitus (sp???) that I'm suffering and paracetamol isn't touching the pain, my head feels like its going to explode with the pressure.
Kveta and others not feeling regular kicks etc, remember this is normal, your LO still has a lot of room to move about in and kick away without touching you. Plus dependant on your size around your tummy and where your placenta is located all affect us feeling the kicks. Finally, allegedly Mums worry more on their #2, #3, #4 etc far more than with the 1st as we remember the kicks etc from the latter part of our earlier pg and convince ourselves that this LO isn't kicking as much.

Cathfin, I know what you mean about the pelvic floor, I've been sneezing lots and whoops Blush. Thank goodness DH is away and not here to see my indignities.
Boys, how are you feeling today?
Hope everyone is well, take care all xx

ChateauMargot · 25/01/2012 13:18

boysarestupid I'm so sorry - you must be going through the ringer. This is a lovely group, though, so please do feel free to come on and moan any time.

Cath welcome!

Another one here feeling totally unmotivated to work. Hungry and tired, too. Still the odd 'bubble' but I've not idea whether or not it's movement. I keep waking up on my stomach in the middle of the night, which is freaking me out a bit... around 12 weeks it was far too uncomfortable but for some reason now I'm able to manage it. Often end up on my back, as well - oh dear!

Kveta · 25/01/2012 13:19

Oh, I'm with those who remember what life was like with pelvic floor muscles and a cold Blush I was saying to DH last night, as I broke wind, belched, then sneezed and pissed myself, 'what a catch I am!' luckily this is entirely pregnancy related, and I'm normally much less gross!! it's so undignified though, isn't it? I'm hopeful that baby 2 is going to have a smaller head than DS though, as doubt my nether regions could take another head that size passing through them... (i now realise I can never meet any of you in real life too :o far too embarrasing :o)

Hope you feel better soon TDW, it's so shite being unable to take proper sinus clearing medication when pg, isn't it? have you done the steaming your head over a bowl of boiling water thing yet? I leant over the pan I was cooking spaghetti in yesterday, which cleared me head for a wee while! does anyone else feel like pregnancy = 1 long cold so far? I don't rmember any time this pregnancy in which I haven't had some form of cold. grr.

thanks for all the reassurances about movements - thought I felt a wee kick at lunchtime, but was having my head bored off by some colleagues so couldn't go away to have a prod and see if it was really baby. I am def. more worried this time round, but DS was a mad kicker, and I could feel him from 18 weeks, and DH could from 21 weeks or so - we remember this time as I'd just relocated half way across the world to come home, and we were living in DH's dingy bedsit in middlesex, whilst looking for somewhere to live nearer my new job - it was a very muddled couple of weeks, but we know DS was kicking away by then!

ceej good tip about exercise ball. I want to find one, my friend had one last pg and raved about it. Problem is this time, I'm sure DS would just bounce on it and break a limb. He's at that stage of silliness. I'm told it should end in his 30s...

Warlin · 25/01/2012 13:46

I'm with you all on the movement thing...I felt loads a couple of weeks ago, then went for about 4 days with nothing and now the odd strange feeling that may/moay not be a kick....I'm not sure anymore!

I'm always so reassured after scans and then panic about a week later. I'm sure we are all fine....if lots of us aren't feeling much it must be normal at our stage :)

mini we are getting a 4D scan at 29 weeks. I can't wait! Think it's lovely to be able to see them really clearly. It's also another little miletsone to hold out for...need something to break up these long 40 weeks!

Warlin · 25/01/2012 13:47

I'm not Scottish but happy Burns night anyway Kveta [bgrin]

AmethystMoon · 25/01/2012 13:52

Wow we've all been busy posting!
Glad to hear my boobs aren't the only ones expanding, I'm up one 'back' size and three cups sizes so far Shock
Congrats on finding out which flavour you're having TDW and justwantcheese Smile
Ooooh Venice Seriouslystrongcheddar, I went a few years ago and loved it, I know Cafe Florian, it's lovely...I also walked a LOT whilst I was there :)
I am so sorry to hear of the terrible time you're having Boysrstupid, that's more than your fair share in such a short space of time :( Please use us to offload, we're all here to support each other.
Welcome Cathfin Grin
Warlin I'm right there with you on the not being able to fill up...I just can't stop eating! I am trying to keep it healthy but that doesn't always work :(
Lastyl thanky ou so much for your post Kveta I had tears in my eyes I was laughing so hard at your 'pregnancy symptoms'...the things we have to endure, be comforted though that you're not alone :)

AmethystMoon · 25/01/2012 13:56

oooh yes, I've just found the little Burns night emoticons....love them....[bsmile] [bgrin] [bwink] [bshock] [bhmn] [bconfused] [bblush] [bangry] [bsad] [benvy] [bbiscuit]
sorry couldn't resist trying them all Grin

thedogwalker · 25/01/2012 13:58

Kveta, nearly had another indignity reading your post, had tears in my eyes from the laughter. Thank goodness we are all here for each other, to get us through the rough, smooth and downright hilarious.
Happy Burns night to everyone [bgrin]

MammaInTheMaking · 25/01/2012 14:11

CathFin · 25/01/2012 14:38

Ah, glad there are a few of us wondering what's going on in there. Dogwalker funny I was wondering whether my placenta might be getting in the way.
Kveta am hoping my pelvic floor can recover after this pregnancy, when I conceived I thought it was pretty much back to normal but a hacking cough is always a bit of a test!

millyv · 25/01/2012 15:19

Afternoon ladies!

I'm pleased to report that after 1 nghts sleep I can say the dream genii pillow was worth the money! It was very comfortable and although I couldn't roll around too much I didn't feel trapped and woke up still on my left this morning! It was quite nice for DH too, he comented that things were looking up as he had 'at least a quarter of the bed' although I'm sure it was more like a third!

ceej I'm having good eneergy days and not so good, it also fluctuates thorughout the day, sometimes I'm walking normal other times I'm slow, although I always seem to be out of breath after walking up the stairs!

miniangel We won't be having a 4d scan, friends of ours had one and DH didn't like it, freaked him out for some reason. As I've had so much this pregnancy go my way I'll give him this one! I hear you get to sit and watch the baby though and then you sometimes get a dvd, all sounds lovely!

thedogwalkerHope you feel better soon, I had that right at the begining of the pregnancy when no-one else knew I was pregnant, had to keep telling everyone I was taking the sudafed/lemsip... (which I would have loved to have done) but just stayed in bed drowning in what seemed to be a never ending flow of snot - it was rank! Fingers crossed you get better soon!

kveta your post didn't half make me laugh! I'm not aware of having any pelvic floor problems at the moment but know it may well change. Is anyone else doing pelvic floor exercises - if so how many/ how long/ how often so you do them?

mamainthemaking I love that thread, it is hilarious! I came accross it when I was having down day on the weekend and it just made me laugh out loud, make you feel normal when you read them!

Hope everyone is having a good day, I've just had a greggs yum yum - oh my god it was lush!!

Xx

SpecialJK · 25/01/2012 15:37

Hi all,

Lovely nights sleep last night, all the way through, no weeing! DH came in drunk so I slept in the spare room, best nights sleep I've had in ages [bsmile]

I'm scottish too Kveta so happy burns night!! [bgrin]

Update on the Coast dress 'boobs' issue. The decision has been taken out of my hands really, as last night I went to show DH and I couldn't even get the bloody thing zipped up this time!!! So from lunchtime to dinnertime it was all over. Having to now troop to a shopping centre this weekend to have one of those 'mad dash have to get something' trips, which invariably end up with something you'll never ever wear again... ho hum

kveta have a look at Busaba Eathai in London. they have a few branches. a bit like waga's, but it's Thai and more 'fancy feeling' IYKWIM

boys sorry to hear about your dad. I've also lost both my parents when I'm relatively young, so I know how hard it can be. I hope you're getting loads of support from friends. We're always here for you to have a moan.

Thanks ladies for reminding me to do my pelvic floor exercises for today! Wink

ellybett · 25/01/2012 15:46

Omg mamma that thread is amazing. Definitely going to make dh read it later. Haven't had time to catch up here as watching dd like a hawk for 'puddles' so will hopefully post more later.

Take care ladies xx

Warlin · 25/01/2012 16:02

mamma that thread is hilarious :o Totally cheered me up! Nice to know we're all in the same boat!

And yes to the nosebleeds...every morning. Not bad ones but still, another thing to complain about!

If my boobs get any bigger I'll just cry! They're like melons!

itchyfootedlady · 25/01/2012 16:14

literally crying with laughter at that thread mamma. feel very lucky... so far! my farts are not tooo smelly, only 2 weeks without pooing seems mild... and no varicose fanjo yet either. score!!

boys sending you some hugs as it sounds like you need them. hope the ailing are feeling better.

TDW, I had sinusitus all weekend and found ice pack to the sinuses would relieve the swelling enough for them to clear, followed by a hot water bottle to relieve the pain. Not sure it does much for the complexion though as was drying out a lot so i then smeared my whole nose/sinus/lip region with sudacrem before bed and rubbed vicks on my chest, put a piece of loo roll up each nostril so i didn't have to wake up when my sinuses started randomly leaking and slept sat up with 4 pillows. Possibly my least attractive night of pregnancy to date! :) kveta I reckon the burp/fart/sneeze/pee combo could have been a great addition to the look :o

hope i keep my pelvic floor although not sure hoping helps... sat at work desperately clenching them now!

MammaInTheMaking · 25/01/2012 16:39

another one been clenching all afternoon!! i feel like i've been super lucky so far with the extras that come with pregnancy. however the farts have taken on a bit of a life of their own. i have been known to let a little one out while napping and then accuse DP sat on the other sofa who's been awake all along. they have a special pong about them too!! other than that, i'm feeling good having read and rolled on the floor laughing at that thread!

itchy the image you painted of you trying to sleep with sinusitus has properly made me laugh!

baby has been hyperactive today, none stop wriggling. Very reassuring and VERY distracting!

Novmama · 25/01/2012 17:43

Hi everyone

Haven't posted this year yet - one thing after another (DH colds (man flu!), DD sickness bugs/colds and me ear infections/pain. Anyway we are all surviving and just had 2nd scan. All ok which is great. Baby was very active and rolling around. Feel lots of kicks now esp if I've eaten something sweet.

Working out finances and how long I can afford to take off work. Would love to buy new pram (in retrospect hated last one and its so ugly - a Graco) but not sure DH will approve. Might start looking at ebay.

Have had lots of pain around c/section scar. Apparently nothing untoward has been spotted. Anyone else had this? Its excruitiating and wakes me up. GP and midwife say its just ligament pain. Interested if c/s scar had impact on any of you??

Very tired still - not sure iron supplement (spatone) has made too much difference.

So 21 weeks on Friday. Best wishes to you all and good luck for those with imminent scans. I was a mess yesterday thinking of all the potential problems (being an older mum).

rrrayray · 25/01/2012 19:28

Hi all.

Wow. You women can chat! Apologies for my lack of chat!

Good news we had our scan this morning and all is well, and we're expecting a BOY!! DH is made up as we already have a DD.

On the downside. I have thrush AGAIN. I had it about 3 weeks ago. Having not had it before now twice in 3 weeks is miserable. I feel soooooo uncomfy. Hope it's not a pattern for all the way through. Anyone a thrush sufferer? I know some women are more prone than others. Any tips on how to prevent it / ease it? Doc perscribed pesary last time, but don't really want to be doing that throughout pregnancy!

How's everyone else?

exBrightonBell · 25/01/2012 20:10

Hello to everyone Smile I am mainly posting to be "on" this new thread ... but also to stick my head above the parapet too. It's taken me a fair while to read all the posts I've missed!

I'm trying hard at the mo to not worry that I can't feel baby yet. Have decided to postpone worrying about it until after the 20 wk scan. Which isn't until Feb 7th - seems so far away!

Boysrstupid · 25/01/2012 20:58

Evening all,

Thank you sooo much for your lovely kind thoughts (yes you did set me off again).

I am feeling better about things today, had a good sleep. Headache has gone without pain relief and I'm trying to put it out of my mind until the funeral.

However, came home tonight to find a bird in my bathroom again. (This happend about 14mnths ago on the night a good friends Dad passed away). The windows are closed, the door was closed, there has been nobody home all day. I shit myself (sorry) I am sooooo scared of birds. Luckily my brave neighbour came again to evict it, but we truly cannot find the access point - Any ideas welcome?

I am now terrified incase I need a wee in the night and its back (I will need at least 2 i'm sure of it). How bizarr?! I really do need a break, I feel like you couldn't write my life at the moment.

Oh I'm whinging again - Sorry.

Hope this finds you all well.

Anyone got a spare commode knocking around? Smile

Kveta · 25/01/2012 21:14

think little madam just kicked, it felt like a kick anyway! [bgrin] so will worry less over night and find a new thing to worry about tomorrow!!

also this is worth a read! similar to our thoughts on bladder control about half way down!

hope y'all have a good evening, I am away to bed, it's been a LONG day!!

OP posts:
Kayzr · 25/01/2012 21:18

Boys no idea how it got in but when my grandad died a year ago tomorrow I came home to find a bird in my kitchen. Never ever found out how the hell it got in.

Kveta mine is having a good old wriggle about tonight. Grin

ecstatica · 25/01/2012 21:25

Evening all,
Kveta - Happy Burns Night to you, my mum is Scottish and Burns Night was always a 'wee bit' of a celebration when I was younger. Glad you felt the LO kick, such a relief, I was feeling the same and then a few little movements that put my mind at rest. The worry never stops from the moment of conception!
Boysrstupid - I am sorry to hear about your dad :( You do come across as being one very strong woman though I admire your strength through all those tribulations. Moan away you'll find lots of good advice here.
Ray That is wonderful news, one of each then! Very happy for you :)
Novmama - I remember last pregnancy having pains with c-sec scar but not so far in this one yet. Was also told the same.

Intended to go back a few pages but as you can see only managed a handful of you in replies, sorry guys. My SPD (i should use new name) is not good this evening, have cold and have 3 little boys with ear/viral infections -- going to crash and try again tomorrow.

Warlin not long till our scans. 5 days for me!
Dream Genii -- Can't quite get used to mine yet and ended up buying it in Mothercare (made mistake online) for 45quid. It's ok.

Night all.
