KatyJ26 · 23/01/2012 20:07

Congratulations TDW on your boy ... There's 22 months between my 2 and they idolise each other. So pleased for you Smile

ceeej · 23/01/2012 20:16

Wow, we're up to page three already. Thanks for the suggestions for pre-baby party names, they're fab and I love that my mates are so excited about the pregnancy, it sounds like there has been brainstorming for a party going on since I announced!

TDW yay for your little boy, Tobias is a fab name but I hope you find one you can agree on in the name books.

itchy hope your cold is getting better, your cheesecake sounds tasty, I now want cheesecake.

milly I couldn't get comfy last night either, my lower back kept twingeing and nothing I did made it feel better. Hoping these episodes remain fairly sporadic otherwise we'll be exhausted when the babies arrive!

chateau those dresses are really cute, enjoy wearing them, I'm thinking of getting an Isabella Oliver one for my brother's wedding in March but can't decide which one.

I'm another who is uncertain if I'm feeling movement or trapped wind but I know as soon as it starts properly hoofing me I'll want to go back to flutters. Friday's scan can not come quick enough but today was pretty glacial so I think it's going to be a long week.

Envious of all the tidying and getting out baby stuff that's being done. We've got a big shop planned for the end of Feb, which seems like an age away right now.

best of luck for your scan Horseygirl will be waiting for your news tomorrow.

Florin · 23/01/2012 20:58

tdw congratulations on your little boy. There seems to be lots of boys on this thread. 2 little boys so close in age will be lovely and hopefully in a few years will keep each other amused most of the time.
My bump has definitely grown again, it's quite obvious I am pregnant now.
Packing for holiday sorted most of my stuff just got last couple of bits to sort. Dh has a cold tried to get him started by sorting out a few bits for him yesterday but he is being very unmotivated starting to wonder if he will go to the Caribbean in his pj's typical man with a cold he has man flu and miserable with it. Roll on Thursday!

AmethystMoon · 24/01/2012 06:37

Have a wonderful time in the Caribbean florin, I'm being taken on a long weekend away to Brighton (not quite so exotic) this weekend and can't wait. Going to make the most of it just being DP and me whilst we can and before I grow too large! Looking forward to lots shopping in the Lanes and endless coffee stops, and I've booked a massage for DP and a pedicure for me. The salon I chose looked very glam on the website and has posh massage chairs that you sit in during the pedicure Grin. Although after I booked I found out it is the salon Katie Price and Peter Andre used to use (might not mention that to DP) Grin can't wait to have pretty toes Smile

SpecialJK · 24/01/2012 09:02

congrats TDW on your baby boy! We seem to have a lot of boys on this thread. I'm joining in with amythyst embolism and a few others on here with a 2 week wait, 6th Feb. This will be a busy thread then I think, looks like there's a lot of us getting scans over those few days. I would love to know what I'm having, I think it would help me bond, as sometimes I feel a bit removed from it all. But DH is adamant, and he wants us both to have a surprise.

Any views on SPD? I had back problems before, and the last couple of days I have a pain in my left hip and it seems to go around from the front to the back so my left bum cheek feels like I've been squeezing it too much. I'm not sure if its my back problem flaring up and it will go, or if its this dreaded SPD? anyone had it before?

Have a great holiday florin Envy

Warlin · 24/01/2012 09:22

Congratulations TDW another little boy to add to the thread :o

Two wee boys will be great friends so it's nice for DS to have a wee brother. Good luck with the name search!

Have a lovely holiday florin I'm very jealous Envy Really feel the need for a wee holiday before I start feeling rubbish again! Things just a bit up in the air with house moves etc at the minute so will have to wait and see.

Looking for a nice maternity swimsuit (that I could wear to the gym and on holiday). Next have quite nice tankinis....any thoughts or advice.

Have a feeling this is going to be a long week. Roll on next Monday scan. Good luck to anyone with scans today

ellybett · 24/01/2012 09:27

Congratulations tdw. I'm in admiration of your gut instinct as I haven't a clue! Think we need some girls to balance things out though.

Have a wonderful holiday florin.

amethyst from personal experience that sounds like spd. My own happens mostly at night at the moment, particularly a dull ache in my left hip into the front 'lady parts'! Very uncomfortable and not great for sleeping. I didn't get medical advice last time but definitely am going to this time as I'm beginning to feel desperate! I am going to invest in the dream genii though, after my scan, it seems like a good option and willing to try anything!

Hope everyone has a lovely day, any scans happening?

ellybett · 24/01/2012 09:32

Sorry, too early for my brain. Not amethyst meant special !

Kveta · 24/01/2012 09:38

hi all.

am v. jealous of those going on holidays Envy I may be getting a week in Glasgow for a conference in the spring, but will be taking DS with me (and he can stay with my parents whilst I work!), but that's it. House stuff is taking priority again :(

I have just realised that I am going to be 30 in a couple of weeks, and have nothing planned at all! DH has got me a new laptop, as DS has pretty much destroyed my current one, but my family have forgotten it's my 30th (as in, have remembered it's my birthday, but not that it's a 'special' one!), and have said they'll probably get me amazon vouchers. which is probably for the best, as I have a wish list as long as my arm on amazon, but still! they forgot about my 21st too! :o

However, a good friend of mine from the US is in London for 1 day only on my birthday, so am hoping to go in with DS and meet her and DH for dinner. Not sure where is family (toddler) friendly near Liverpool St, and that won't have a valentines day menu on the 14th of feb - any ideas from the londoners on this thread? I can only think of Wagamamas, but it's not a great way to show off the UK to an American!!

I ordered DH's birthday present last night anyway (his birthday is the week after mine, my sister is 2 days after me, and dad 2 days after DH!!), and sister's, so just need to sort out something for my dad, and I can relax a bit. Too much going on in Feb! We normally have a family party, but it's been cancelled this year for various reasons. Oh well. Will have to make lots of cake for DH and I and we can gorge ourselves silly on it :o

DS told me this morning that baby is called Jack, so either he knows something the sonographers don't, or he is going to be sorely disappointed to have a sister! He woke us up at midnight to tell us his nursery key worker needed the potty Confused so we had another broken night. I nearly fell asleep on the commute this morning!

I am sorely regretting getting my maternity jeans in a size up from my usual size, they are absolutely huge on me! am in two minds about returning them and getting my actual size, or keeping them and eating my way into fitting them. Should probably do the former :o

right, best get some work done. Long day ahead...

OP posts:
KatyJ26 · 24/01/2012 09:46

Morning! Ds is v v wheezy, so have an appt at doctors for him, then mad dash to hospital for my scan Sad not how I planned it, but hey ho! Not finding out sex, it will be our 3rd and final suprise Grin my SIL has her scan today and is finding out sex, and my brother is due in Feb, so I'm a bit worried about them stealing my names (the ones I haven't decided on yet!) have a good day, I'll let you know how it goes

Kayzr · 24/01/2012 10:11

Florin I hope you have a fab holiday!! EnvyGrin

Katy I hope DS feels better soon and that your scan goes well.

Special My scan is the 6th too. It seems so far away. I want to buy baby clothes and would like to see if they say it is a girl too.

Hope you are all having a good day so far. I got soaked on the school run so I am sat in front of the fire.

justwantcheese · 24/01/2012 10:22

Specialjk hi,i have spd too and it blooming hurts, i am waiting for physio but there doesn't seem to be much else i can do. hope you're not suffering to much.

found out yesterday i'm having a girl,so excited.

justwantcheese · 24/01/2012 10:24

specialjk forgot to say a pilllow between the legs does really help at night.

callmemamma · 24/01/2012 10:59

Morning everyone!
Yesterday's mw appointment was great! We listened to a little one's heartbeat and it was amazing!mw was lovely, she said she knew that was what I came for :) she gave me a warning that we might need to wait a bit until we find heartbeat as baby still tiny but it was there nearly straight away!
I am in "two weeks to wait for scan club" with you emblosion,Amethyst,Special and Kayzr Mine is on 7th Feb
Congratulations on your boy tdw
I am Envy at your Caribbean holidays Florin enjoy!
I still have a stinky cold but I guess it's nothing to compare with horrible pains and spd some of you are suffering with.hope you get some help and feel better soon!
I can feel my bump stretching some days,it's very hard and it it feels like I am a baloon soon to pop :)

Warlin · 24/01/2012 11:35

Congrats justwantcheese that's fab...remember to update the stats with your little girl. Think that's the second girl, and 4th boy?

Great news callme I'm sure you're relieved to have heard the heartbeat...it's lovely as it reminds you that there is actually something in there :)

I have been feeling really tired this week and really hungry! Don't know why but motivation in work is almost nil....just want to eat and sleep!

ceeej · 24/01/2012 11:37

Enjoy your hols Florin and Amethyst, will try not to be too Envy

Kveta off the top of my head Hawkesmoor is awesome, has two branches near Liverpool St. and one of the bloggers I read took her toddler there www.mummyandmonkey.com/2011/04/hawksmoor-with-a-toddler/. Also, I know a friend has taken her little nephew out to Smiths of Smithfield a few times so guessing that might be toddler friendly.

Katy hope your DS feels better soon and you aren't too rushed for the scan, enjoy getting to see the LO

justwantcheese yay for your little girl

DH seems to be suffering with mild food poisoning and a cold at the same time. After a terribly fitful night's sleep he's now conked out in the middle of the floor.

millyv · 24/01/2012 12:22

Morning all!

Congratulations on your little girl justwantcheese, DH agreed last night that I could find out what flavour our little one is as long as we don't tell anyone else - although he says he doesn't really understand my fear of surprises(I really do hate them, think it's the control freak in me!) so I only have 12 days to wait until I can find out and I can't wait!!

I managed to get a good nights sleep last night, propped my upper body up with about 4 pillows, and 2 under/behind my back so I couldn't roll and 1 between my legs - DH asked me if it would be easier if he slept in another room and I burst into tears... don't you love me etc.... I can laugh about it being a totally irrational moment now considering he'd taken me out for a romantic meal last night but at the time... oh these hormones have a lot to answer for! Poor guy, we have a king size bed but he's over 6ft and a rugby player shape and he's now spending his sleep hangin onto the side of the bed whilst my pillows and I take over... he did say that maybe it was time for us to buy this dream genii and give it a go... bless him!

Thanks for everyones reassurance with the movements issue I have, feel a lot less stressed now about it, I think it's just that there is a long time between the 12 week scan and the 20 week scan if you don't get to hear the heart beat at 16 and they say you can start to feel movements between 18-22 so I guess it's not panic stations yet!

kveta Dh said that I should buy the first pair of maternity jeans a size bigger - will not be making that mistake again, put up with wearing them twise I think, they kept falling down and were so annoying/uncomfortable. No idea why I listened to him really, I'm a size 12 in all trousers/jeans/skirts and they say to buy maternity sizes the same size as you did before. Hope you have better luck than me or can return them!

Spoke to our friends in Dubai last night, only 2 more weeks and we get to go out, can't wait. We have the scan on the monday, I'm 30 on the tuesday and then fly out on the wednesday, currently it's 20.C out there, not too hot and not too cold! Although I'm very jealousof a carribean holiday, lying on the beach would be bliss!

Sorry if I've not mentioned everynoe but hope you all have a good day!

Xx

Miniangel · 24/01/2012 12:37

This thread is sure filling up fast, took me a while to catch up. Love all the news though.

TDW congrats. Another boy would be great. Are you telling your ds that he is going to have a lil baby brother. Good luck with the name hunting.

justwantcheese congrats for a lil girl. So exciting that you will be able to dress her up in pretty clothes.

I am in the 2 week wait club as well as my scan is on 8th feb.

Enjoy your hols florin and amethyst

itchy pain in your back while peeing needs to be checked out so it would be best to talk to your midwife or book an appt with your gp at the earliest. It could be uti but a simple urine test at the docs will tell. Having had all the exp myself it's better to be on the safe side.

I had a scare last night so had to go to a&e and was there till 3am but am happy to report that all is well and am back home. I started getting a bad pain in my back and it could be uti spreading to the kidneys so had to get it checked out.

How much are the nct classes generally for the people who have booked?

millyv · 24/01/2012 12:48

I have just booked our NCT antenatal classes in south wales and they were £150 but then when I got to the part to pay they had added on £40 for my 'membership'??? Not very impressed to be honest with you but have paid it as I want to meet other mum's to be in my area! They have scheduled my classes from the first thursday in May.

Hope that helps! x

SpecialJK · 24/01/2012 12:58

I'm having a trauma today. My boobs are out of control!!! Seriously, they have gone up about 3 cup sizes in the last 10 days. There's no point in going to get measured until they've stopped.

Got a wedding in 2 weeks time, so ordered a maxi dress from Coast sale, as was thinking that could accommodate a growing bump. I tried it on Saturday when I was in town, fitted perfectly, but didn't buy as I had ordered online.

Arrived today, tried on, literally can't get my boobs into it, spilling out over the top. And it's the same size that I tried on Saturday.

Not sure what to do now? How do I know when the boobs have stopped? do I chance it and hope they don't grow anymore in the next two weeks? I'll be left with nothing to wear if it doesn't fit, and it's a lot of money to spend on something I won't wear.

Warlin · 24/01/2012 15:05

Sorry to laugh special but your post made me giggle! My boobs have got really big too (I was a D cup to start with and dread to think what they are now!!). Don't know what to advise...maybe worth buying something else as a back up and then taking back whichever doesn't fit? At least then you will have something but can still return the first one if it doesn't fit. Mine keep getting really sore and then expanding!!

Milly your poor DH....! Bless him! I haven't been tearful recently but was really bad at the start. My dream geni has been delayed from amazon as they are out of stock (I blame all the mumsnetters..:)) I'm hoping it arrives soon. I try and sleep on my left but inevitably waken up on my right.

mini glad you're scare is over...must have been horrible being in a+e during the night. Glad you're ok x

I was looking at local pregnancy yoga classes but the times arent good. I can't go stright from work as I need to get home to the dog (unless it's a Tue or Thur and she goes to doggy day care :0) but sods law all the classes seem to be on Monday or Wed :( I found one but the woman looks very old and stern but I might give it a go after my scan, Has anyone else tried it?

katy hope scan went well and that DS is ok

Roll on 5pm, this day is dragging in!

millyv · 24/01/2012 15:18

warlin I can laugh about it now, it's so not me to cry though and I just couldn't stop the tears - I have no idea where they came from?!?!

I am starting yoga on the 1st March, a little apprehensive as I've never done it before and not really that bendy... should be a giggle if nothing else!

specialjk my boobs seem to change daily, they were assive yesterday and today they look like they've shrunk - who knows what they'll be like tomorrow! Luckily for me they aren't hurting quite so much today but I've probably just jinxed myself!

Xx

TeaandHobnobs · 24/01/2012 15:52

Hello all

special and ellybett no idea if it is SPD (or a touch of) but I am getting a very painful left hip during the night (from sleeping on my left all the time?). I'm sleeping with a normal pillow between my knees / under my right knee when on my left, but am still planning to go get a dreamgenii (just haven't had a chance to get to mothercare!). My mattress is a bit crap though, so I thought it could be that - have been toying with the idea of getting a mattress topper, but I'm worried it might feel too warm - any experience?

millyv I guess it depends on the instructor, but my pregnancy yoga class is very non-bendy! And our instructor reminds us all to stay within what we can manage, i.e. there are ladies at 34 weeks who obviously have a bit of an obstruction when it comes to certain poses! I love it for the relaxation and focus, and the stretching. If people are complaining of something specific, like hip pain, she works in exercises to help with that specifically. And we do pelvic floor exercises - I have to try not to giggle at the thought of a room of ten women all squeeeeeeezing at once!

Warlin I'm with you on the boobs too - I got away with only going up one cup size to start with, but things are feeling a bit squished and uncomfortable now. I was just going to get band extenders to save money, but I think I may end up going up a cup size again soon.

Right, TeaandHobnobs (totally unreasonable) rant for the day: there are "promotion panels" going on in my team at work at the moment. All good, associate directors going up to technical directors, all well deserved etc. BUT the other girl in my team at my level has been invited to a promotion panel, and I haven't Sad Envy
DH says they wouldn't promote me anyway because I am pg, but I do NOT think that is fair. I know IABU as I'm sure this girl deserves a promotion (well, actually I'm not sure, but that is just me being a bitch), but it would be a complete FARCE for her to become a grade above me, when you look at our respective competency and quality of work (i.e. it's not about a pay rise to me, but the perspective of her being senior to me) .

Sorry, rant over Blush Sorry for offloading here, but am rather light on RL friends at the moment (two best friends currently recovering from major surgery).
