hi - just wondering if I could join this thread too. I'm expecting twins on 12th June . I already have 3 gorgeous ds..... So gonna be a busy mum!

This thread seems to be quite busy so will probably be a lurker mostly!!!

Hope everyone is keeping well - blooming stage seems to have passed me by.

Dalrymps · 01/03/2012 10:42

Morning ladiesSmile

Ooh welcome and congratulations LilyniGrin Our first twin mum, very exciting!

justwantcheese I have noticed my bump seems bigger just before bed but I think it's to do with all the food I've eaten so the top of it feels higher up iyswim? Anyway it seems to go down a bit by morning then gradually get bigger again throughout the day. Not sure if this is what you mean?

Lovely sunny day hereSmile

Got to start packing for the weekend as we're off to Yorkshire to celebrate my cousins 40th. Sounds awful but I can't really be bothered with the effort of the packing and travelling with 2 ds's. Sure it'll be fun once we get thereHmm

AmethystMoon · 01/03/2012 11:49

Welcome Lilyni and congrats on twins :)

Dalrymps My bump does that too, I could hardly breathe by bed time, but have now tried to reduce my portion sizes and it is a bit better...just so hungry all the time!

Just got back from walking my dog and I too am struggling with hills warlin in fact if I walk for more than about 5-10 mins I get a really bad pain, which feels just like a stitch right across the bottom of my bump...it probably is a stitch Grin. It's a pain though as I really like walking (which makes for a happy dog too) and had thought it was going to be a good way to keep fit whilst pregnant. I've got one of the pilates DVDs for pregnancy but struggled to do 10 mins of that the other day! I'm normally a reasonably fit person, so it's all a bit alien to me, feeling this unfit and knackered! I'm trying to keep my weight gain at a sensible level and not being able to exercise properly is not helping. If it's not too rude a question, how much has everyone else put on so far? I'm 23+5 and have put on about 17lbs...which seems like a LOT to me?

justwantcheese · 01/03/2012 12:06

17 pounds is not a lot, i've put on 28 so far! i think everyone is different Smile

Kayzr · 01/03/2012 12:42

Amethyst I have no idea what I have put on. I refuse to weigh myself Grin It feels like about 100lbs though.

Lilyni Congrats on your twins!!

Dalrymps · 01/03/2012 13:19

Amethyst I get the exact same stitch like pain even walking short distances! Basically if try to walk at a normal/ slightly fast pace it kicks in. I have been walking really slowly when doing the nursery run to avoid this, like an old ladyGrin

Having said that I walked up a hill and back down at the weekend (only about 1 mile in total) and I didn't get it because, again, I just walked really slow. Difficult when you're trying to rush somewhereHmm

CathFin · 01/03/2012 13:59

My bump feels heavy and uncomfortable already too, Amethyst I don't like feeling unfit either, and the general lack of energy is bemusing!

Dalrymps - sympathies, I'm not feeling the love for the holiday we have booked at the end of April. It's only Ireland and it is my FIL's 70th but the thought of the travelling makes me shudder!

Lilyni - congratulations - you will be busy ;-) hope carrying twins isn't too exhausting!

When I joined mumsnet I really didn't give much thought to my name and I feel rather dull, must think up something more exciting, except then no one will know who I am!

SpecialJK · 01/03/2012 15:03

Hi ladies. just come back from my consultant appnt and feeling a bit down in the dumps. Because I've had a fibroid removed from my uterine wall about 5 years ago, they are concerned my uterus won't be strong enough to cope with the contractions of labour. the consultant needs to get my surgery notes from the person who removed it to see how much he took/how many stitches etc...

Depending on what those surgery notes say, if it comes back not great, I've pretty much 100% got to get a c-section. Got to go back in 4 weeks for another scan and meet with her, (28w) then again at 32 and 36 weeks. At least I get to see my LO more, but now I will be stressing for the next 4 weeks until she tells me what's happening. I know I can't change it, but I'd like to know one way or the other so I can prepare myself.

I really don't want c-section. I have no family close that can help apart from DH, and he's in the army, so he'll get his 2 weeks paternity and that's it as he's so busy. MIL will be looking after the other grandchildren at the time I'm due.

I knew this was all going too smoothly Sad

Warlin · 01/03/2012 17:15

Hi All

Just a quickie as flat out in work. Welcome lillni and congrats on your twins...addd yourself to our stats list.

special that sounds disappointing, esp when they don't know there is a problem. Try and think positive though;

  • You get to see your LO more often with the scans
  • You get to know when exactly the baby will be born
  • It's better to find this out now than go through labour and then end up with a c-section- which could happen to any of us
  • You will still get your gorgeous little baby at the end.....it doesn't really matter how they got here!! Plus, you will not be intact down below!!

There is so many things that could be worse or wrong with baby so please look on the brightside....C-sections really aren't that bad and loads of people would be delighted with your news.

amethyst I find the same...am normally very fit but have to walk quite slowly..poor dog keeps running off and coming back and starting at me as if to say "hurry up" :) I havent weighed myself in a few weeks as our scales broke (I wasn't on them when that happened thankfully Grin) but I had put on 17lbs at that stage so reckon 20-24 by now Shock

Hi everyone else

ecstatica · 01/03/2012 19:45

ello ladies,
I'm about to put my DC to bed and vegetate relax in front of the telly, am a huge fan of Masterchef so that will be on the viewing cards :). I feel uncomfortable too and don't sleep well through the night but as I keep reminding myself, this is the preparation for a newborn in the house again! The LO moves a lot but I often feel that limbs are stuck then desperate attempts to get them free!! Probably not the case at all, but that's what it feels like!

Going to write a msg to SpecialK and then talk to you all tomorrow. I have one more page of recipes to type up for those waiting :)

SpecialJK -- Chin up! Things are and will hopefully progress smoothly. Please don't worry too much. I haven't any words of wisdom or anything but having had 3 c-sections and scheduled for my fourth in just over 12 weeks, I can honestly say that my recoveries have been really good :)
With DS3 I was pushing a double pram around the local town 6 days after he was born and was back into the swing of things with only my mum popping in and out and a self-employed DH who could only really be there for the first few days. I had a 1 and 2 year old when DS3 came along and somehow I managed, couldn't lift them too much for cuddles or do too much in way of housework (for an extended period might i add) ;) but it was all good.
Can I also add that as my last two c-sec's were elective, I was very much prepared in advance (childcare, meals, hospital bag etc..) and as soon as babies were out, they were straight on my chest for cuddles within seconds -- they were such beautiful experiences!
I hope i haven't rambled on but have given some c-sec advice if necessary.
Please don't worry. We are all here to listen and support :)

Talk to you all tomorrow folks.

Kayzr · 01/03/2012 20:12

Is anyone else getting Braxton hicks yet? I've been having them on and off today. They don't hurt but I can feel my bump going very hard.

Dalrymps · 01/03/2012 20:33

Kayzr I have never noticed Braxton hicks in any of my pregnancies. Not noticed any yet so far this time eitherHmm strange.

mrsshears · 01/03/2012 20:49

kayzr i had braxton hicks the other day, all day on and off, they were verging on painful, i did'nt have them with either of my other pregnancies and tbh i could do without them this time Grin

justwantcheese · 01/03/2012 21:29

Just had pain in my pelvic area then got cramp from my hip down to my toes.it was so bad it twisted my foot in! I have never had cramp like that before. I thought I had a blood clot or something. I shouted at husband to call an ambulance! I am going to be crappy with labour pains again!

10000fireflies · 01/03/2012 22:07

Evening all. Sorry, have been AWOL for a bit.

Welcome, Lilyni. Twins! Cute!

No idea how much weight I?ve put on. I rarely weigh myself. Have started doing Acquafit a couple of times a week. Is lovely and refreshing. Also doing a short pilates class. Got some DVDs too, if I can find something to play them on.

Special sorry to hear your consultant appt has left you feeling down in the dumps. Fingers crossed you won?t need a cesaerean, but even if you do, I am sure something will come along so you are not left struggling on your own. ecstatica?s experiences seem pretty positive.

Ouch JWC that sounds painful. How are you feeling now?

Had MW appt today, nothing much to report. Consultant appt in a few weeks and GTT tests. Still, will worry about those nearer the time. At least I got to enjoy some sunshine on the way to the appt today, and found a Moses basket in Fara with stand for £20. Bargain!!

Night all! FF xx

Ginga66 · 02/03/2012 00:23

Hi horsey girl. With first ds did yoga and workout peg DVDs but due to pain those time I just swine for maybe fifteen mins three times a week and one longish walk. Then there's chasing ds around!

Ginga66 · 02/03/2012 00:23

That's swim not swine! iPad!

AmethystMoon · 02/03/2012 08:42

Morning all

Thank you all for the weight updates, I will stop panicking now...you can tell this is my first. I think it's because I have always had to struggle to keep my weight down (not naturally slim IYKWIM) and so I feel a bit out of control and am so worried I'll have trouble shifting it afterwards...I can't afford a new wardrobe in a bigger size!

Dalyrymps I tried slow walking with my dog yesterday afternoon and it was much lesspainful..looks like it's an old lady shuffle for me from now on then Grin...but she also gave me the "Oh do hurry up, what's wrong with you!" look!

SpecialJK I'm sorry to hear you may have to have a c section, I have no experience myself but of my friends that have had them...they all rave about them and can't undertsand why I'm not demanding one! And as you say you'll get to see your LO regularly, which will be lovely. Let us know how you get on x

Kayzr I would have no idea what braxton Hicks felt like...I'd probably think I was going into labour and panic like a mad thing! I assume they can't happen without me noticing?!

Justwantcheese that cramp sounds awful...your foot twisted in!! Shock

Right best I get on with some work, spent thelast two days on annual leave working in the garden in the sunshine, it was lovely, but working from home today...back to reality!
But first a Brew...brain power

Have a good day all x

SpecialJK · 02/03/2012 09:37

thanks to everyone for their messages of support, and especially ecstatica I know it won't be the end of the world, as they will only do it if they think it's best for me and baby, and I would never put my baby at risk. I think because you end up building up all these expectations of what it will be like, and then it suddenly changes. But I'm not going to think or worry about it until the 28 weeks meeting. (the mumsnet book doesn't help as it tells you, that you'll have a tiny muffin top over your scar)

I'm joining the club of stomach pulling pains this week, I was overtaken by an 80 year old yesterday when I was walking Smile! Also, coughing from chest infection in bed last night and I think I hurt myself too, stomach muscles very painful for a few secs afterwards.

i feel like I'm falling apart. But hey it's Friday! And I have a one day photography course tomorrow so I can learn how to take beautiful shots of my LO when he/she arrives Smile

Warlin · 02/03/2012 09:59

Winge alert.....

I am so so tired today, I feel so rough. DH was out with friends last night and woke me up coming in at 1am, then proceeded to snore the entire night :( We have no bed in our spare room so I just lay there all night and didn't sleep a wink. LO is so active at the minute too, that he was keeping me awake.

I must admit I'm finding all the movement all a bit strange..now that I can see it and the kicks are big, I find it a bit freaky :) Glad I know he's alive though.

Also seem to clumsey these days...tripped going up a step last night and really felt the side of my stomach pull...glad to hear others ae having some pains too...probably just stretching etc...

I haven't had any braxton hicks either and don't really know what they are..

Did anyone see the quads born yesterday that were on the news this morning....so cute! I wonder how many weeks she was as they were tiny...dying to know what our LOs would look like if they were born now!

Sorry this post has all been about me but needed a winge. Thank goodness its Friday...the thought of the house move at the end of the month is stressing me though.....the next few weekends will be busy for us! Roll on Easter!!!!

Kayzr · 02/03/2012 10:05

I am going to winge too. I think I am starting to get SPD. The walk to school this morning wasn't good.

I get the stitch feeling when I walk to fast too. I only have 3 weeks til DP gets home and he can do the school run.

justwantcheese · 02/03/2012 10:36

i am going to winge too! it's my new hobby since i can't do much else Smile my back is killing! i'm shuffling like an old lady and i get a stitch like pain when i walk fast. 13.5 weeks to go ,how much longer for you?

HorseyGirl1 · 02/03/2012 12:00

Think walking probably is just enough for now. Special JK - don't worry too much about the C section. It doesn't matter how our Bumpies get here, just that they get here safely. Strong possibility I might need one too, but don't mind too much, it will be worth it! xx

Warlin · 02/03/2012 12:16

Kayzr...3 weeks..bet you can't wait! You deserve a medal for looking after DC on your own. Will be such a relief I'm sure to have him back to help :)

JWC I get the stitch pain too, so slow walking for me. DH off work today so he's taken the dog to the beach which means I get the night off walking Grin Makes such a difference. I'm Envy of your 13.5 weeks to go, I've 14.5....although 12 more of work which is when the real countdown begins!

On a positive note, it's Friday..and semi-sunny here

CathFin · 02/03/2012 13:37

Ah well I can join the walking hurts club too - really aching under my bump and my left buttock has been playing up for 3 weeks now - sometimes I think my left leg might stop working but it hasn't yet! Anyhow - 24 weeks just gone so definitely feeling like d-day is getting nearer and I don't get a chance to mull over it all too much anyway.

Special - I know what you mean about having a panic, I have had a few i)will we need to move country before the baby arrives; ii) Is our local hospital really rubbish.... the list goes on, and I can churn it over for days before it turns out to be nothing to really worry about!

I'm glad its Friday but I've got DD's birthday party on Sunday to sort out and clean house etc and I'm doing it solo as DH is off to Brussels Sunday morning. Aaargh!

Going out for a curry tonight though - yum!

Have a good weekend everyone!
