Hi Ladies,

Amethyst and CathFin I'm in the shuffling about like an old person club too. Moving sites at work next week to avoid the stairs, can't wait.

Had my 25 week appointment with the midwife today. All fine but apparently my abdominal muscles are separating already. Does that mean anything?Didn't really think about it till I was on my way home. Any second timers know when or if they are meant to separate or what it means? Another wonders of pregnancy thing I'd not even considered.

Spotted a due in November thread earlier. We've been pregnant for ages :)

Happy weekend everyone

ffnorm · 02/03/2012 16:09

Warlin google Emma's quad diary - they were 29 weeks, which is amazing for quads...it's an inspirational read,I started following her blog in Dec. They were naturally conceived and all boys plus she has a toddler son Smile

I too am having stich type pains if I walk fast, luckily mine kick in after a little distance, which is lucky as I am on my feet a huge part of my 12 1/2 hour day at work.So the short spurts at work are ok,for now. (didn't have this last time...)

Shelduck · 02/03/2012 16:18

Hi all,

So nice to be able to read a few days? of posts and conclude that a lot of us are experiencing the same things and so I must be normal! (?June?? comments, big kicks, stitch when walking, bump getting bigger towards the end of the day.)

Special - sorry about your news. Chin up! I?m sure things will work out, however they work out.

Hi Lilyni!

emblosion, Ginga, Amethyst and Milly - hope you?re all feeling OK. (Sorry, if I?ve forgotten anyone else who is poorly.)

Kayzr - lying in bed watching my stomach move has become the highlight of my day now!

I would say I haven?t had any BH. I am finding that my bump goes hard if I do anything very active ? particularly anything that involves bending down and standing up a lot, like gardening, tidying, doing the actions to ?Head Shoulders Knees and Toes? for no particular reason, hoovering etc. Saw MW today, and she said that was completely normal, but didn't sound like BH. So I?ve started referring to that as my bump complaining. Notice the way that my bump complains mainly when I'm doing housework!

I put on weight right at the start of the pregnancy, and then nothing more apart from the bump. But I noticed the other night that I appear to have lost my waist. (Well, I?d already lost the front, but at least I had the other three sides!) I only noticed because I was standing talking to a friend and kept trying to rest my hands on my hips, but they just kept sliding off! My friend said ?Well, it?s alright ? you?ve got pockets, haven?t you??

I've had a pretty stressful week at work, and one particular person has been hassling me. Was off work with stress last summer, and this week I've felt stressed for the first time since coming back. Woke up in the night having been dreaming about this particular situation, and the baby was wriggling like mad ? I normally just feel individual kicks, but this was the full set of movements. It could just have been the way I was lying, but I decided I wasn?t going to risk anything. I hate playing the ?delicate flower? card, but fortunately some of my colleagues stepped in anyway and told said person to back off. So I?m well supported!

Right - lovely sunny Friday afternoon, and I'm off in a bit so can forget about work. Have a great weekend everyone!

(Sorry for mammoth post!)

ceeej · 02/03/2012 16:29

So sorry that everyone is feeling rubbish, on a positive note I'm hugely excited right now because I actually handed in my thesis yesterday. It is such a relief although I did feel a bit lost this morning, it's basically been my purpose in life for the past 5 1/2 years. I have a massive list of baby things to research though which I'm really looking forward to, and catching up with one born every minute, call the midwife, dancing on ice etc., and doing more reading and knitting and baking, basically all the stuff I love doing but haven't had time to do recently.

That's not to say I don't have a whole bunch of aches and pains, CathFin I get a weird pain in my left buttock too! I haven't slowed down across the flat much but even the tiniest slope seems to really take it out of me and I tried to walk up three flights of stairs in the library the other day and ended up having a break on the second landing to get my breath back! I guess we just have to do whatever we can manage for now although that's a bit difficult when you have a dog or other children to run around after.

Kayzr yay that your DP is home soon, boo to the SPD

Warlin gutted that you didn't get any sleep :( you'll have to make sure your DH makes it up to you at the weekend, breakfast in bed maybe :)

Special sorry to hear you may not get the birth you wanted, try not to worry though, as long as LO arrives safely you will have had a great birth. Photography course sounds like an excellent idea, enjoy it.

Can't remember who asked about braxton hicks, I've had a few (they seem to happen when I orgasm Blush) I don't feel any pain as such but it's like having mild cramp across the lower abdomen. I happened to have one when DH had his hand on my bump the other day which freaked him out a bit because he could suddenly feel the baby much more clearly.

We have a massive cabbage glut from our veg box and I just found a recipe for cabbage and sausages braised in beer, sounds like a perfect dinner to me.

Morning all

Feeling a bit worried - DS has chicken pox,I've never had it but was vaccinated against it because of the work I do. Doing an internet search last night brought up conflicting evidence about whether the immunity wears off over time... So going to call the midwife this morning and see whether they will check my varicella titre.Especially as I'm still at risk for foetal abnormalities,if I get Chicken pox, until 28 weeks.

CathFin · 03/03/2012 07:33

ffnorm - hope the cp is nothing to worry about and your vaccination is still working. Both of mine had it this time last year - apparently its the 'season' for cp.

ceeej - well done on finishing your thesis!

Run out of milk - we seem to get through so much of it!
Think I ate too much curry last night too - was lovely, but I'm not used to eating that much in the evening any more!

Kayzr · 03/03/2012 08:23

Morning,

Ceej Yay for handing in your thesis. I hope you enjoy catching up on your programs.

ffnorm I really hope everything is ok with the chicken pox.

The boys can feel baby moving now. I think it is making it more real for them as they are very excited.

SeriouslyStrongCheddar · 03/03/2012 12:56

Afternoon all!

Just popping in to say hello!

Was supposed to be away last night / tonight staying at an Inn in the Peak District as it was DH's birthday on Thursday - somewhere we used to stay several times a year but haven't been to for 2 or 3 years now.

We drove out to the Inn after work yesterday (just an hour and a bit drive, not too bad) and when we arrived discovered that half the bar / restaurant area is cordoned off due to a refurb and the whole place stank of paint. I asked the manager if there was anywhere that didn't smell of paint and he looked thoughtful and said 'the rooms?'. Anyway, went to our room and it was roasting - I mean really, unbearably hot. Turned off the radiator and opened all the windows. Went into the bathroom to find several flies buzzing around and a toilet seat that wasn't attached properly. Floor in there also not particularly clean and cracks in plaster, plus no curtains on the bathroom window.

So, we packed up, checked out and drove home! Wonderful start to the weekend! Now trying to work out what to do with the weekend - might finally get round to trying my preganancy yoga DVD, you never know!

I'm also developing an obsession with a certain buggy. Now, I've always said I'm not bothered about getting a buggy as want to use slings and then see if we need one. DH kind of fancies a buggy (fair enough as his back isn't great). We played with a few in Kiddicare last weekend and thought we'd go back in April to see the one we like that isn't out now. So I've been idly investigating buggies online for the last week and we're considering getting a double that can be used as a single so should we have any more DC we don't need to change the buggy. I've found the Mima Kobi. I've never seen it in 'real' life. It's ridiculously expensive. And I love it. I mean really, really love it. Trying to find a stockist so we can go play with one. Also trying to resist. So difficult!

Anyway, hope everyone's having a good weekend!

TeaandHobnobs · 03/03/2012 14:34

Well the NCT sale was a bit hairy! Didn't arrive until 30 mins after it opened, so of course there was a long queue, and most of the equipment bargains had gone. I was a bit overwhelmed when we went in, too many people, but DH (already grumpy having been to the dentist - numb mouth and starving!) insisted that we stay and look around having queued for half an hour Blush Picked up about 10 - 12 sleepsuits, etc for £15 - not bad? Then went to a cafe in the park for a good old fry up, sitting out in the sun. Fab.

Hope everyone else is having a good weekend, and those that have been unwell are feeling a bit better. Sorry to hear of all the aches and pains - it's all kicking off now, isn't it?!

Poo to the cold weather returning tomorrow Sad

ffnorm · 04/03/2012 09:24

morning all - may I whine a little???

Yesterday I called the named midwife in my notes (re chicken pox) it went to voicemail which said to call the triage no in the notes, called there and before asking why I had called,a midwife told me to call the 24 hr do you need to come to hospital no.Hmm

Eventually spoke to a very nice midwife who said that I will need to get my immunity checked which can be done off my booking bloods but even though the blood is at the hospital this request needs to come from my GP Confused So of course has to wait until Monday...

So we've hardly slept as DS was awake most of the night crying and trying to scratch and I still don't know where I stand.

Sorry for the whine but frustrated and worried, hope everyone is having a nice weekend!!

Kveta · 04/03/2012 18:27

hope all is ok ffnorm and your GP can help. red tape is so frustrating!!

and yay to submitted thesis ceeej what a relief!

long long weekend here. long long week actually. spent the whole week in turmoil due to decorator being in (totally worth it, but the smell of paint fumes is still a bit head ache inducing), so DS was not sleeping, then friend was staying weds-this morning, so we were entertaining her. good fun, but tiring!! and today we got up at 3.45am due to non-sleeping child, left the house at 5.30am to drop friend off at the airport, then went to visit my Nan as my mum is there, and aunt is still hanging on. So we went to be supportive, but it was another emotionally charged day. nice to see mum and my cousins though. then the drive home, which would be 1.5 hrs on a good day was 3.5 hrs in pissy weather (snow!), I nearly fell asleep at the wheel twice and had the window down for a while to stop me crashing. Not doing that drive again on my own any time soon!

It all sounds so trivial written down, but for some reason I am wiped out. Hmm lightweight :o

I'll try and start a new thread if I remember tomorrow, but we have a few posts in hand :)

hope everyone has a good sunday night! we're going to watch some Modern Family, as it's bloody hilarious and what we need at the moment!

morning all!

seriously sorry you're weekend was a washout. maybe you should get yourself that pushchair to 'cheer yourself up' ?Smile did you manage to salvage anything in the end?

ffnorm have you managed to get a response from someone on the cp issue?

ceej well done on thesis! I'm not sure I ever had the patience or dedication to do a phd, so hats off to anyone that can.

so I'm wondering if I have the slight start of SPD? views please? At the moment I have what I can only describe as a throbbing pain in my 'undercarriage' region sometimes when I'm walking around. just on side side near the top of my thigh. Makes me feel like I want to grab hold and walk around holding it! Confused Don't want it to get any worse whatever it is

I'm starting to feel pregnant now with all these complaints. Managed to win an auction on ebay for the baby bouncer I wanted so quite chuffed with that. And the NCT sale this Saturday, so will be there nice and early with my elbows out teandhobnobsGrin

Warlin · 05/03/2012 11:01

Morning all!

ffnorm try not to worry...sounds like the MW service was totally unhelpul though and frustrating having to wait. I'm sure all is fine though and you're prob worrying over nothing.

ceej that's fab Wine, must be such a relief. It won't take you long to unwind with all the tv to catch up on :)

SSC nightmare re your romantic weekend :( Hope you had a good one in spite of that....the pushchair sounds like a treat you need to make up for the weekend!

kveta hope you're ok after your emotionally charged weekend. GOod you go to see your mum.

tea at least you got some bargains from the NCT sale.

I had a busy weekend too...lots of removal prep. I need to get a quote from some painters as want the whole house painted a couple weeks before we move (which means getting it down in the next 2 weeks). Removal firm booked and they will do all the dismantling and putting back together of furntiture so I'm hoping it won't be too painful. SO much to do though!

Mum bought a gogreous baby boy outfit for me at the weekend which I was very chuffed with. She has a "drawer" full of things for him so she has more than I do :) There's no point us buying anything yet until we move house and then it will be nursery stuff galore!

Is anyone else getting fed up with people giving advice? Was moaning to someone about feeling big and uncomfortable and got the whole "oh you have no idea what it's like, just wait until you are 8 months.....". I'm well aware that it will get worse but hate the way people make light of how tired/ umcomfortable I am now.

DH and I went out for Sunday lunch yesterday and I scoffed my dinner and then suffered big time..there just feels no room in there for a full stomach!! Note to self, self control required.

3 months ladies........the countdown begins...
