Ooooh. Happy Burns Night everyone!! Frae faw your sauncie face, the great chieftain of the pudding race, 'n' all that!! [bgrin][bgrin] Loving these Mc[bsmile]s. Hope they're still here tomorrow!! Will be [bsad] if not. Have a haggis waiting for supper, but DMcH not hungry, so guess we'll have it tomrrow. Absolutely no celidhs this year!! Might pop in later for more meaningful post - just couldn't resist the Mc[bsmile]ys!!

10000fireflies · 25/01/2012 23:26

Lots more great scan news. Congrats everyone. Katy, I am [bshock] that you managed to resist the temptation to find out what sex it is.

Glad to see I?m on the only one noticing pelvic floor, ahem, issues. Note to self: I must do my pelvic floor exercises 4 times a day;I must do my pelvic floor exercises 4 times a day; I must do my pelvic floor exercises 4 times a day? Doubt if it will sink in?.I suppose we?re having a bit of a ?wee? celebration tonight, judging by one of our conversation topics?[bgrin]

Warlin are you feeling any better? I think the tiredness comes back from time to time with little growth spurts. Frustrating when it does.

Woke up with hip pain myself this morning which is a bit annoying. Hope it goes away! Maybe it?s time to start using the DreamGenii McDH gave me for Chrimbo. Just not sure if there will be any room for that, two duvets and kitty. Have tried making a nest on the top of laundry basket next to bed for kitty using his fave blanket, but he?s not interested. Obv, because he?s a cat.

Kveta are you ok? How?s the cold/wind/pelvic floor??!! Re your bday, how about La Tasca? They have a children?s menu and Valentines menu is optional. Second vote for Busaba Thai - v nice.

TDW sinusitis. Owww. Have you tried Olbas oil? How about this? Lots of rave reviews for sorting sinusitis. Are you over yours Itchy?

Why aren?t my boobs ballooning too??[bsad] and [benvy]

Hi Novmamma good to hear you?re ok though tired, and all ok with your scan.

rrrayray how about natural yoghurt? Maybe find some tips on MN/Dr Google?

Boys No commode spare. How about this bucket??!! But really, I?m sure you?ll be bird-free when you take a pee in the night Have a big hug and a restful night. xx

OK, I?m done! Am going to have a giggle over those other threads you?ve been linking. Hi to everyone. Impossible to keep up with everyone and all our ishoos. Night!! xx

CathFin · 26/01/2012 07:04

Boys that is truly weird, we had one come down the chimney once - was bad enough!

rrray sorry to hear about the thrush, not at all nice.

I'm 19 weeks and I'm wondering why my scan isn't until Feb 9th - sooooo long!

Helssjbells · 26/01/2012 07:52

Morning ladies,

Sorry I haven't posted for a while - 11 hour working days don't go well with having time to type, but I have been keeping up with you all!

Hope everyone enjoyed their Haggis last night...despite having Scottish blood we tucked in to pasta bake - really can't face any meat at the mo. I think DH was disappointed, he hasn't had any steak for weeks (I can't cope with the smell) he'll be drooling soon!

I was wondering if anyone else wasn't particularly blooming yet? I'm 20 weeks tomorrow, I feel ok on the whole but hardly amazing, I keep asking my MW when the good bit is... This morning I've woken up with stomach cramps - very worried, is this normal?

My scan isn't until Tuesday - which like others on here, seems like aaaaages away - am I just developing pregnancy paranoia or do you think something awful's happening?

Hope you all have good days - roll on tomorrow night!

Warlin · 26/01/2012 09:38

Morning all

Hope Burns night was good for those of you celebrating!

ecstatica and hels we don't have long to wait now for scans...in some ways I can't wait and in other ways I'm dreading it as it's on Monday and the weekend will be over again :)

Still feeling really tired fireflies really hope you're right and that it passes. Hope your pains goes away... we are all a bit paranoid with every ache and pain at the moment....!

Getting annoyed my dream geni hasn't turned up...not impressed Amazon :(

Feel bad as DH was out with his mum last night and I said I'd see them when they got back (haven't seen MIL since Christmas). Anyway they weren't home until 11.30 and I struggle past 10pm these days so had gone onot bed....felt bad but would have been like a zombie sitting up. Think she was keen to see my bump Blush

Roll on the weekend. My brother's home from the US and haven't seen him in a year and a half so looking forward to a good catch up.

Hope today's not too long in work.....joining the lack of motivation club these days :o

Warlin · 26/01/2012 09:40

Sorry hels just saw your post......I'm sure all is well. Lots of people don't show for ages and some have tiny bumps at 40 weeks! I'm not feeling great either....think it's normal enough to be honest. All the talk of glowing is prob just to keep us going as 40 weeks of feeling like crap would be hard to sell to anyone......:)

thedogwalker · 26/01/2012 09:50

Morning all, congratulations Ray.
Kveta, I'm glad you felt a kick, now you can stop worring, well for a hosrt time anyway and enjoy your pg Smile
Hels, I think we ALL have a bit of pg paranoia, none of us will rest properly until we give birth, and then we have a whole load of other things to worry about Grin
Still lots of the cold bug in my household so another day off work, I can barely breathe with the sinuses playing up and I keep thinking my head is going to explode Hmm. Can't wait to feel normal again.
Hope everyone is feeling much better than I am, take care xx

MammaInTheMaking · 26/01/2012 10:30

For any Londoners... Groupon have an offer on today on 4D baby scans. £99 instead of £250.

www.groupon.co.uk/deals/london-special/baby-scan-clinic/2937872

It doesn't appeal to me because I really don't want to know what he/she looks like til it's in my arms.

Warlin · 26/01/2012 12:17

Congrats on your boy rray, add it to the list. So exciting...I love looking at all the boys toys and things now that I know. Just struggling to keep the secret!

boys hope you're ok..that bird thing sounds very freaky...lucky you have an understanding neighbour :)

Kveta · 26/01/2012 12:34

well baby is having a real whack at my bladder today, so although I'm reassured, I'm also up and down to the loo like a yo-yo (sorry, I am obviously far too interested in micturation :o). Never happy, me :o

congrats on your boy rray! have you had loads of folk saying 'you can stop having babies now' yet? everyone says it to me. admittedly, I am starting to agree with them, as I am clearly shit at being pg!! but I always said to DH that 3 would be a good number of children to have, and we have agreed to wait and see what this one is like before making any rash decisions!

we didn't have haggis last night, as we have had it 4 times already this month (including hogmanay) - will have to restock the freezer though, as it's a great meal for DS, and we all love it.

DS asked for a dog egg for dinner last night Confused Shock Grin and I was a bit perturbed until I twigged that he meant 'an egg in the egg cup shaped like a dog' he also had such a spectacular tantrum on the way home from nursery that I nearly walloped him, then half way through my weekly conf call with colleagues in the states, he stuck his hand down my top and bellowed 'MILK NOW MUMMY?' luckily they couldn't see where his hand was! I'm loving the terrible 2s :o

TDW hope you're feeling better soon and get some rest.

Hels I didn't show with DS until about 22 weeks - I am quite lardy though to start with. This time, bump was visible from about 15 weeks or so (I think) and def appeared bigger over christmas. with DS my bump ended up so massive that from about 34 weeks I had people going 'ooh, you must be due any day now!' and by 39 weeks I couldn't find any clothes at all that covered it! I think it's normal to not show until later on with your first. One friend of mine never showed AT ALL, no bump, nothing, and had a 8lb 10 oz DD!! when we were waddling around together at the end of our pregnancies, she said she felt a bit of a fraud next to my HUGE bump, but there ended up being 6 oz difference in our babies sizes! Friend has amazing stomach muscles though (although also lardy), and I have atrocious ones.

got anomaly scan no. 2 tomorrow, so fingers crossed everything is ok in there.

hope you're all enjoying Australia Day today!

Just dropping in on the run... but as long as we're posting links, I'm sure a few of you have seen this song..? ('Pregnant Women Are Smug')

A few things to avoid, then!

KatyJ26 · 26/01/2012 15:49

Hi - watched link - bit random!
I'm tired [moan alert] and should be working from home, but it is so hard because MN keeps calling me! It's amazing how the time disappears just browsing through threads!

Kveta - good luck with scan tomorrow
rray - congrats on your boy
TDW - hope you feel better soon
Warlin - hope motivation finds you soon and hope you have a lovely weekend with your brother
Helsbels - Im sure things will be fine. Try and relax and not over-do things
ff - I have hip pain too - thought thhings were a bit too plain sailing! A pillow between the knees helps a bit -people rave about the dream-genie pillow, think it's a bit like marmite though, my frineds have never got on with it - let us know what you think of it.
ecstatica - hope you got some rest and are feeling better soon

Waves to all I haven't mentioned Grin

ceeej · 26/01/2012 17:58

Today is going soooooo slowly, have anomaly scan tomorrow afternoon and really wishing it was booked for the morning now.

I've been doing MN procrastination today too Katy, was weeping away at the random acts of kindness thread.

kveta had a good old giggle at the tales of your DS, terrible 2s sounds fun!

I read an interesting blog post about pelvic floor exercises www.bettyherbert.com/2011/11/aaaand-squeeze-or-actually-dont-much/ which basically highlights the need to release them properly too. I now try to do 15 quick and 5 long whilst in the squat position every day and tend to throw in a few extras whilst sitting in front of the computer or TV. Also (sorry if TMI) I use them quite a lot during sex, kind of hoping that has kept them fairly strong as I'd never done a pelvic floor exercise as such until getting pg.

rhibutterfly · 26/01/2012 20:45

OK, I'VE HAD PAIN IN PUBIC BONE SINCE MONDAY,FEELS LIKE I'VE PULLED A MUSCLE OR SOMETHING (I THINK I WOULD HAVE NOTICED IF I HAD) ANY IDEAS WHAT THIS COULD BE? ON THE PLUS SDE SCAN TOMORROW :)

Florin · 26/01/2012 21:13

Just catching up with all the news. Sitting in Antigua airport (thank god for my parents having a Coutts account which gets us into very posh lounge) rest of the airport is very Caribbean! It's all very lovely and free food and drink (so want a gin and tonic but trying to pretend with just a tonic water!) oh and free wifi so can mumsnet while we wait for our flight to the BVI's-perfect!
Felt a bit paranoid about the flight but luckily baby kicked a lot on the flight so that reassured me.
ceeej good luck with your scan tomorrow. Are you going to find out sex?
Good luck for your scan to kveta
warlin have you bought any boys clothes yet. I have found it so hard to resist. So have bought a little vest in 0-3 and a more wintery outfit in 3-6. Going to scour eBay for bargains when I get back from holiday. Enjoy seeing your brother!
cathfinn I am 19 weeks too and my scan isn't until 13 Feb although had a gender scan at 18 weeks so that has kept us going!
helssjbels I get cramps every so often midwife said if they are at the sides (imagine a high cut swimming costume) then its just stretching pain. After I get them I normally notice bump has got bigger the next day.

Dalrymps · 27/01/2012 09:07

Morning ladiesSmile

florinEnvy Super jealous! Sounds amazing already! Hope you hae a wonderful timeSmile

Have fallen a bit behind as a I have an OU deadline looming.. Have been popping in for a read now and again.

Congrats to those who have had scans and well done to the ladies who were strong enough to resist finding out the sex. I am far too impatient to be so strong!

I think I read we've had a few more boys, lovely! We just need a few girls to even things up nowGrin

Bought my first little outfit for Jude yesterdaySmile a little fleecy all in one, blue with big white stars on. Only £5 at TescoSmile

Tbh I have most things having already had two boys but I am wondering whether some of it will be the wrong season as they were both winter babies and Jude will be summer. Will have to go through it all!

Hope everyone slept well last night.

Warlin · 27/01/2012 09:40

Morning ladies

I'ts Friday....finally.....yiippppeeeeee!

Florin I am so jealous Envy. That sounds like heavan and the thought of lying on a beach right now is very appealing. Fed up with dog walking in the dark mornings and dark evenings...oh for some sun!!! I bought my first newborn boy babygros in Mama's and Papas....they say welcome to the world on them so I couldn't resist! They are for up to 10lbs so hope they fit but thought I could take them to the hospital with me. DH told me to hide them away though as I was tempting fate!

Dalyr glad you got a week outfit too...it's hard to resist isn't it??? Good luck with the deadline. DH did an OU masters a couple of years ago and asked for an extension for every single deadline :) They always facilitated him though...so worth a go if you're getting stressed. He was just disorganised!

Good luck with the scans kveta and ceej. Mine is on Monday...roll on. I am a bit paranoid as have felt no movement again for 2 days...he keeps doing this to me and it stresses me out :) Willing him to kick so that I know he's ok.

I have def had another bump growth spurt.....!! My bump is really quite big now and I'm starting to feel uncomfortable with it so dreading what I will be like in another 19 weeks!!!!

Anyway hi to everyone I haven't mentioned x

Kayzr · 27/01/2012 09:52

Morning.

Florin I don't like you Grin I hope you have a fantastic holiday. I am very very jealous Envy

ceej I hope your scan goes well.

Warlin I hardly felt a thing yesterday but on Wednesday there was loads of wriggling. I think it's still pretty early to feel anything regular. Well that's what I tell myself.

My scan still seems years away. It's on the 6th. Which is about 10 days away. Boo Sad

Dalrymps · 27/01/2012 09:58

Warlin your little outfits sound lovelySmile Yes, it's hard to resist, also, I wanted Jude to have something of his own as most of his clothes will be hand me downsGrin The last two times I bought a little outfit after the 20wk scan. Sure we'll get some more clothes as gifts once he arrives thoughSmile

Funny you wondering if an up to 10lb outfit will fit. It's a strange concept to me as I make very small babies (6lb 5oz and 6lb 14oz) and they both had to have 'tiny baby' size wheh they were born, even newborn was too big! Hard to tell though, I think I'll pack some tiny baby and some newborn in my labour bag just in caseSmile

I'm also really starting to feel bigger now, haven't got a massive bump but just feel so full if that makes sense. I suspect the constant constipation doesn't helpHmm

Dalrymps · 27/01/2012 10:01

Morning kayzrSmile

I only seem to feel movements when I'm sitting of laying still relaxing. They do seem to be happening most days now but I only really started feeling them just before my 20wk scan (am 21wks now). It depends on where your placenta is also, apparently mine is posterior.

Kayzr · 27/01/2012 10:07

I can't remember when I started feeling regular movements with the boys. Not a clue which probably makes me a bad mum. Most people probably remember that. Grin

thedogwalker · 27/01/2012 10:21

Ceeej and Rhibutterfly good luck for your scans today. Girls I'm in a bad place today, after 4 days of non stop pain with the sinusitis, I started with terrible earache in both ears last night. I broke about 3am this morning having realised that I'd run out of paracetamol and I took 2 cocodamol. Went to see local GP this morning, who I'm not registered with, but was at wits end. He was not very reassuring about the cocodamol, telling me never ever to take it during pg. I'm now so scared that I've hurt my LO. I will never forgive myself for such a selfish act on my behalf. I feel so bad.

TeaandHobnobs · 27/01/2012 10:33

Oh TDW please try not to worry. Am very Angry at your GP for not being more understanding. I am sure you have not done any harm to your LO. FWIW I have just found a doc on NHS Direct which says only take with advice of a doctor, but I don't think two tablets will matter much - I thought the issue with codeine-based painkillers was one of potential dependency (not going to happen from 2 tablets!), and of course there is the old chestnut that very few medicines have been properly tested for use during pregnancy, so they can't make a statement saying it is ok without that, IYSWIM?

Sorry, that is meant to be reassuring, I hope it actually is Confused. I was given codeine on prescription from the hospital when they discovered my cyst early on, so clearly if you are in pain, they will let you take it!

Would it be worth calling your MW for a chat if it would put your mind at ease?

10000fireflies · 27/01/2012 10:35

TDW AFAIK cocodamol is fine. www.mumsnet.com/Talk/pregnancy/715939-co-codamol-in-pregnancy/AllOnOnePage Have you tried the facial steamer and or olbas oil I suggested the other day?

Good luck to everyone scanning today.

ceeej · 27/01/2012 10:36

Oh tdw you poor thing. Firstly, please try not to beat yourself up about it, being stressed is also not good for the LO, I'm sure being pain free enough to get a little rest will have helped your whole system work more efficiently. Secondly, I am pretty confidant that coedine has no proven negative effects in pregnancy and that cocodamol is the next line in painkillers for those that are suffering so bad that paracetamol alone doesn't work. Thirdly, you only took two. I can see why you are worried but the GPs response is not helpful at all, has he at least suggested what you can do to ease the pain? I really hope you get some relief soon and do try to get as much rest as you can manage to give your immune system a chance to clear the infections.
