Ha ha! Loads of people were talking about it on Facebook, Killough is just down the road from us as well Wink

Dalrymps · 28/02/2012 10:34

Morning ladiesSmile

Oh god. I went to get the boys up this morning and they were both in ds2's cot. They were absolutely covered in the contents of two pots of glitterShock The clean up mission is ongoing and the whole house now looks magicalHmm

Kveta · 28/02/2012 11:02

morning, how is everyone today?

I spent this morning in A+E with DS, who wasn't putting weight on his foot after he jumped and landed stupidly on it last night in the bath. This morning he was being very pitiful, wouldn't walk, kept pointing at his foot and going 'ow', so I consulted with my mum (who is a paediatric radiographer!) and she said best get him checked out. So I duly went to our local A+E, where the Triage nurse said 'let's see him walk'. I put DS on the ground, waiting for him to be pitiful and not stand up, but he saw an ambulance outside and legged it across the waiting room, without a thought of his poor ow foot Hmm. So that was a total waste of a car park ticket! Little sod! We did see a nurse practicioner, who said to give him nurofen, and if he's still being feeble in a few days, take him back to A+E for an x-ray. But honestly. So got to work late and not at all checked MN first before checking work emails, oh no and have dropped feebo-boy off at nursery, where he was holding his leg up and looking pitiful, before trying to climb a tree.

sounds like fun at your sparkly house today too Dalrymps :o

Tea and Kaz I had decaf diet coke in my last pg, it was shite. Am on the full caffiene stuff now when I need it!

I have also noticed this thread is getting very full again, so we need to come up with a name for thread 5! In my usual insomniac state last night, I came up with 'rounded tums and knackered mums' but am sure someone can come up with a better name!

TeaandHobnobs · 28/02/2012 11:18

I like that thread name Kveta!

Everyone at work is commenting on how huge my bump is Hmm. Ordinarily I would think "well, what do they know about how big the bump should be at this stage", but one of them has had two children herself (both big birthweights), and I saw a friend at the weekend who is 5 weeks ahead, and there wasn't much between us....

Erk Confused

Kveta · 28/02/2012 11:23

Tea I am getting a lot of 'JUNE?!' responses when people ask how far on I am. I got the same with DS though, and he was 9lbs (so not tiny, but not massive for 41 weeks!). Just smile and nod at them, you'll be fine.

hi all, I'm back!

taken me a while to catchup, hope everyone thats having some family problems and sadness is feeling ok. I lost both my parents at a relatively young age, and I think I've never missed them more whilst I'm pregnant (DH says I mention them everyday now), so I totally understand how some of you may be feeling.

New York was fab. I was a little stressed sometimes, as I was getting braxton hicks pretty much every day (is anyone else getting them?) I think it's because we were walking and climbing stairs so much (I never remembered so many stairs on the subway!) When I chilled out it seemed to work. We got some nice things for the baby, I have a giraffe fascination, although I've now been told to stop by DH as he says I'm going overboard. Did lots of sightseeing, not too much shopping and lots of eating. Grin I did manage to get 2 bras properly fitted too.

Had a treat flying back on Upper Class using our Airmiles. I was sitting next to Stacey from Gavin and Stacey. We both tried to savour it, as that will be the last posh flight for a while now we have LO to pay for.... economy all the way! I didn't get much sleep though, as bump kicked ALL the way back, for about 4 hours. It's now so strong, DH can see my stomach move from across the living room. Think it was doing somersaults last night. Today bump is much quieter, I'm not well with a cold again, so maybe LO is giving me a break during the day. Smile

How about "Bouncing our way towards June 2012 with kamikaze kicks, bigger bumps, but hopefully not too plump (yet)"??

Warlin · 28/02/2012 12:27

Morning all

Loved the DC stories daryl and kveta..what monkeys you have Grin. Made me laugh.

emblosion , horseygirl another NI girl here! What hospital are you using? I'm with the Ulster.

I agree re the caffeine debate. I was off coffee at first but now am back on, trying to limit to one cup a day. I find I'm drinking more diet coke than normal now that alcohol is a no go! felt bad the other night as I had a can and LO started frantically kicking! DH accused me of drugging his son :)

My bump is huge too....can barely see my toes and lady garden maintainance is def becoming trickier Blush

I am so tired today....and have tenders to write in work..yuk. Roll on hometime

Kayzr · 28/02/2012 12:53

I also get lots of Confused looks when I say June. Had a few twins comments too. I was big with both of the boys too.

My cousin had a baby this morning, well his DP did. A lovely little boy who weighs 7lb exactly. He's very cute. Smile

millyv · 28/02/2012 14:21

Afternoon everyone!

Still posting from my bed-getting quite annoyed now but went back to the doctors this morning and bp is still low so have to rest- boring!

Just woken up from a nap and thought i'd check in as I feel a little more normal this afternoon.

Hope everyone is ok, can't believe it's another thread time already! Loving the ideas for names- sorry I can't help more than that but not much imagination ATM!

Just read about cookies someone has made- they sound amazing and I want to eat some now- they sound delicious!

DH felt the baby kick for the first time yesterday properly- he said it feels a bit more real now- and he's excited- bless him!

Hope everyone else is ok!

Xx

bemybebe · 28/02/2012 15:08

Since everyone is mentioning their largish bumps I want to share my observations. I feel large in bump and boobs and nothing fits any longer (apart from oversized shirts and pg jeans)... but I did not put any weight, not even 100g despite our 24 weeker developing well according to my numerous u/s... Confused I wonder if our scales are in fact... broken. Hmm Joking aside I think it is all down to the fact that I had to drastically reduce the amount of food I eat as I feel bursting at the seams if I eat my normal portions. I now understand how gastric bands work! (...and btw I was not exactly slim to start with...)

I did not see anyone reporting from the Excel Baby Show. I went there on the last day with the only mission to pick up our Uppababy Vista. We were not 100% decided before the show, but after visiting their stand we were totally sold on it. Great functionality (folds really well with the seat attached, very sturdy pushing, great brakes, massive basket), great list of features included in the package (integrated sun shade, rain and mosquito covers, MaxiCosi adapters) and still very very reasonable priced (£500 for the 2011 model). They have great customer service which was patiently answering all my questions in the days before the show, so I have full faith in their ability to resolve any issues should things go wrong. DH was very keen on Bugaboo (partly out of patriotic dutch pride), but was so impressed, he was the one who actually pulled the trigger on Uppababy!

Next on my list of absolute revelations are bamboo fabrics and a company called Bamboo Baby. These guys design and sell the most adorable baby and kids clothes and you would not believe how lux and soft these fabrics are. I am not great at describing styles but theirs is some sort of quirky modern/traditional one with a pinch of London edginess. I absolutely adore it and honestly would have bought the whole collection if it was not for the fact that I am only 24 weeks on Friday and last time I had a baby it all went horribly wrong. So I bought "only" 10 pieces from their new collection and 8 pairs of trousers for various ages and I am for sure will be buying a lot lot more once the baby is safely born.

Continuing the bamboo theme I saw a company called Cuddledry, which make bath towels in the shape of an apron from the same amazing bamboo fabric. The towels are pricey, but despite this their stand was heaving with people. I went on internet on Sunday to see the cheapest place to buy and this one does it for £20.99 instead of 32.99 or 27.99 (or thereabouts) show price. So I bought mine from them! The same site does great price for Aden Anais muslin swaddling 120cmx120cm blankets if anyone is interested in swaddling. I bought the Mod About pack of four - they look so cute Smile.

Sorry for the long message but I hope it is useful. And I am a total fan of the Bamboo Baby brand!!!

Warlin · 28/02/2012 16:52

I just burst out laughing in the middle of a finance meeting after getting kicked so hard in the stomach!! So hard to get used to but when I sit still, Thomas leaps into action :) Hard to concentrate when that happens!

Does anyone else feel their bump getting really heavy and low late in the afternoon....? I feel so uncomfroatble carrying it at this time of the day.

welcome back special, I'm sure NY was fab and the flight sounds bliss. We got upgraded on honeymoon and I swore I'd never travel any other way again....hasn't quite panned out like that Hmm

Glad you're starting to feel a bit more normal milly but enjoy the rest while you can...I'd love some bed rest right now!

Right today has dragged in but home shortly for a big walk with the dog....finding walking for an hour and half a day so tough at the minute but DH never home early enough to help :(

emblosion · 28/02/2012 20:06

Hi all, well I have had an eventful day today! Went to get my hair done and fainted in the hairdressers, it was so scary - basically just as Amethyst described, thank goodness I wasn't driving - not to mention embarassing. Have been for a check up and all seems ok (no low bp or uti, waiting for blood results to come back) and have felt baby move since.... They reckon I maybe got a bit hot and dehydrated or possibly just have a bit of a bug as I've been feeling a bit off colour. Phew so no harm done, and all seems ok. I wish they had checked baby's heartbeat, it would have put my mind at rest but the Dr said as I had movement all was ok.

Am currently on the sofa taking it easy after all the stress!

Hope everyone else is ok!

Warlin am booked into the Downe midwifery led unit but will go to the Ulster if any complications, baby late etc....

emblosion · 28/02/2012 20:13

Oops posted too soon.

I like the new thread name suggestion kveta and loved reading about the antics of your & dalry's little ones, they really made me chuckle!

kayzr deciding what to do with my hair for the wedding has been a nightmare! Think I am going to go for a sort of informal up-do or glamorous bun! I found the website 'love hair' to be really good for pics, can't post a link from my phone but if you google 'love hair wedding hair' or similar it should come up!

Kayzr · 28/02/2012 21:03

My dress is quite vinatge-y and so I am looking for something in a vintage style. I'll have a look for love hair. I'm having my hair cut on thursday so hoping I'll have something to show them.

emblosion · 28/02/2012 21:37

Sounds lovely kayzr thete are some really nice vintage-y styles, you'll be very glam I bet :)

Ginga66 · 28/02/2012 23:21

Hmmm, I have the opposite problem. I feel I should be bigger. At last hospital visit mw said placenta in right place but not due a scan and they will not measure me until twenty eight weeks! Have been bit paranoid thinking baby not moving same every day but again told no pattern until twenty eight weeks. And to top it all off then having urinary incontinence which I worried was waters but don't think so. My ds was so easy compared to this little boy. I have pain most days and on codydramol. I had earlier bleeds which thank god passed but was warned about orgasms and penetration do avoiding both for eight weeks now. So wish I could relax but it's not an easy ride this time. Obstetrician told me to do very little but that is nigh on impossible with a nearly three year old and a dh who thinks the floor is a shelf lol. Dh has been doing most of manual labour and trying to lift ds as much as possible but when he's at work not possible, I think I get more of a rest at work! I can't resist my son when he says uppy mama though.

AmethystMoon · 29/02/2012 10:24

Good morning all :)
Welcome Kitty

I've just had a catch up read and thank you everyone for your good wishes. I am getting better at knowing my limits for sitting down before I go woozy, so less 'incidents' now Grin. I went o have a cardiac monitor fitted yesterday which I have to wear for a week, just to check my heart isn't being affected by the squashed artery!

Dalrymps Sounds like it is a good idea to start your mat leave, that lifting can't have been good for you - and I now have a lovely vision of your house all glittery and magical.

Shelduck I love the chocs and negligee idea...only not sure I'd look that ravishing with my huge bump n boobs! Grin

Kveta I'm having a gardening day today, I figure there's no sitting involved so I should be free of fainting for a bit. I hope you're getting more sleep, I find my hypnobirthing CD sends me straight off...never heard the end of it yet! Your story about your DS and his 'poorly' foot made me smile, he sounds like such a little monkey :)

Florin I have my fingers crossed for you that there are no signs of CF for your LO, there are twins in my family with it and they are gorgeous little girls but it is so sad too.

Warlin - that's great news on your house yay! :)

Emblosion I also have no visual kicks outside of my bump, so don't worry to much. I can't believe you fainted too - not another one of us! It's horrible isn't it. They didn't once check my baby either the whole time I was in hospital/ambulance etc. as I said I could feel her moving, they didn't seem worried. They were more worried about me - which makes a change when you're pregnant! I really hope it doesn't happen again to you...you weren't having you hair washed were you? That can squash an artery in your neck.

SpecialJK - I'm glad you enjoyed NY, sounds wonderful :)

MillyV I am glad you are feeling a little better, low BP sucks doesn't it :(

Ginga My LO's movements are also still very random, I worry 'cos sometimes she's a right little wriggler, then nothing for almost a whole day. My MW also said nothing regular until 28 weeks, so I am trying not to worry as I am still only 23+4.

Oh and I am also getting the "June?!" comments, we must be a very well fertilised & watered bunch Grin

I am thining of all of you that are feeling poorly and having stressful and sad times at the moment remember to rest as much as practical and take time for Brew and Biscuit x

Warlin · 29/02/2012 11:37

Morning all

Emblosion hope you're ok....That must have been scary! At least you're BP ok but just take it easy.

Amethy you're gardening day sounds good...enjoy the fresh air. It really does feel spring like now doesn't it.

All this wedding and hair talk is making me want a wedding:) Even just to be a guest!

Well ladies we are almost into March....that means in 3 months time this thread will be starting to pop Grin Hopefully all the sickness ends and we all glide into the third trimester. I am feeling more like myself for the first time in weeks this week so hoping it will continue. Things always seem easier when the nights are brighter.

I must say I am struggling to walk up hills now. I walk the dog in a big park but there is a big hill back to the car and I had to stop on it last night and hold my stomach. I think I need to find somewhere flatter as it's only going to get worse.

ging try not to worry. Every pregnancy is different and I know people who were hardly showing by their due date. You are over the early bleeds and the doctors are happy so you should try and relax. Movement is still sporadic at this stage so I think it's normal enough not the feel much.

Hi to everyone I haven't mentioned.

TDW you have gone quiet...can we assume that you are loved up and making up for lost time with DH?? I'm sure MN is the last thing on your mind. Hope DH enjoyed seeing the scan of LO

Kayzr · 29/02/2012 22:00

Hello.

The boys little suits for the wedding came today. They are so adorable Smile

I've just been lying in bed watching my stomach move. Even though this is number 3 I don't think I'm used to seeing all the kicks.

It's almost March so that means DP will be home soon!! 23rd all being well. Grin

Hope you're all well. Smile

bemybebe · 29/02/2012 22:04

Oh kayzr I am so jealous of your stomach action! My girl is kicking but not so much, I certainly cannot watch my stomach move. Smile

Ginga66 · 29/02/2012 22:39

Hi,

Thanks amethyst and wariln for your reassurance. Long day, so tired and feeling bit nauseous and headachy but my little boy such a honey brightens my day up can't wait for another. X

Alligatorpie · 01/03/2012 04:01

I am feeling huge too. I noticed my mat jeans are starting to feel tight, how can this be? I have 15 weeks to go!

ffnorm · 01/03/2012 07:18

Morning all. Sorry to hear about the bereavements Sad

So annoyed,DH is going on a work trip today and his colleague rang at 0530 this morning to change the travel arrangements... If DS is asleep,I resent anything else that wakes me at the crack of dawn.

Hope those of you who have been unwell are hanging in there Millyv Emblosion and Amethyst thinking of you!

I suddenly started feeling huge last weekend, I am finding my mat jeans from last time are falling down but went shopping and really struggled to find nice jeans/trousers (not a skinny jeans girl Smile) so bought a denim skirt with an over the bump panel - hoping it will prove to be a good buy as the weather is going to get really warm soon (I can live in hope)

Spoke to a colleague of mine who used a hypnobirthing CD for her 2nd and found it really helped her,so she is going to lend the CD to me.She also said it helped her fall asleep (during pregnancy not during labour Grin)

HorseyGirl1 · 01/03/2012 08:08

Hi all - hope you are doing OK today especially Millyv, Emblosion and Amethyst. I'm going to Antrim Area, they have been really good so far.
Just wondering has anyone been doing any pregnancy exercises - I'm really more of a go for a walk kind of girl but would like to try something gentle.

justwantcheese · 01/03/2012 08:23

hi,just wondered if anyones bumps have changed shape overnight/ mine has gone from really high to low. i got shooting pains down my legs and felt really dizzy. is this normal if it moves so much?.
