Wow just read through 7 pages and can't remember a thing, got out of the hospital last night after 3 days hooked up to a saline drip, they said it was a really bad virus it was awful but I'm feeling much better now and loving being back home, congratulations to those who have had babies and good luck to everyone labouring and sectioning today,
I was told at hospital to book a sweep for monday with community midwife but couldn't get through to her as she is off sick and I'm just supposed to wait for her to call me monday, not sure what to do, I want the sweep but will only be 39+2 and when I spoke to her about it before she said she doesn't do them til 41+ weeks so I'm unsure what to do if she refuses, should I just call the maternity unit back and see if they want to do it there? X

Hi all!! Wanted to announce the birth of my baby boy, born 09/01/2012 02.47am, weighing 6lbs 2 1/2oz, a day after his due date!!

We stayed in hospital for a few days due to his low birth weight, but we are both home now, and doing great!!

ParsleyLion1 · 14/01/2012 15:02

Congrats milkyways Thanks Grin

laylasmummy09 · 14/01/2012 15:03

Congratulations milkyways how lovely, enjoy the snuggles before everyone decends on your house Thanks

BigHotMama · 14/01/2012 15:07

Congratulations milkyway glad your both home now does your little boy have a name yet? Thanks

Sounds like a serious virus if you were hospitalised Layla glad your out now and can relax before things start happening. Not sure if they'll give you a sweep before 41 wks as this is the same policy at my gp's too. Consultant said to have sweep at 40 weeks but mw said we don't do them until 41 wks. Suppose there's no harm in asking though?

dawnofdee are you going for a sweep?

Mum2be79 · 14/01/2012 15:38

Congratulations milky come join us on the postnatal thread.
Scary time Layla hope you are feeling much better.

I hope nobody minds but I still like to pop in to see how everyone is doing and hope to see everyone on the postnatal thread soon.

William was 2 weeks old yesterday. He's a really good baby at night - wakes only once. Last night I had to wake him! BUT ... he does like to feed for VERY long stretches - anywhere between an hour and on one occasion 6 hours!!! The last few nights it has been between 3 and 4 hours. I can't moan too much because he is so good to us during the night.

Breastfeeding has been harder than I thought. I use rugby ball position because tummy to tummy doesn't seem to work as well. He can't latch as well and he doesn't seem to feed as well either. Consequently my wrist has now dies from the position that I use. So, am going onto bottle - although bought a breast pump and sterliser in tesco's baby event sale and DH collects on Monday. Am going to combine the breast and formula. Mum coming to stay for 2 weeks tomorrow so I will have her support - can't wait. Since having William, I truly admire and understand my mother more!

tigana · 14/01/2012 15:42

congratulations scrambled and mia and milkyways

Fingers crossed for all those suffering from 'had enough of being pregnant now' and 'FFS baby, get the hell out of me already-itis'.

Ugh. 8 days late now. DS was here by now (cx started at 40+6, waters broke 40+7, admitted 40+7, delivered morning of 40+8). Losing hope of avoiding induction (booked for 18th). And DH is away with work from 5 Feb, so every day this baby stays put is a day 'lost' for DH to spend with her/helping out etc Sad come ON baby [mildly angry face].

ghosteditor · 14/01/2012 16:09

Congratulations milky way! And mum2be we love to hear from the new mums, keeps the rest of us ticking along...

Tigana, commiserations! I'm 40+2 today and v bored...

Spagbolagain · 14/01/2012 16:49

Hi all, just to let you know DS2 was born Thursday night, 9lb 2oz. So the sweep worked for me!
We did it at home, was hard but straightforward, and after the time I had having DS1 I couldn't ask for anything more different. We're doing fine, but not really slept yet.

Hope you are all progressing well, and congrats to the others who have popped in the meantime. Hang on in there the rest of you! X

buzzgirly · 14/01/2012 16:57

Massive congratulations to milkyways and spagbol - brilliant news!!Thanks

tigana I'm 5 days over now, so feel your pain - my dd was 10 days late feels like its never ending!

ParsleyLion1 · 14/01/2012 17:00

Congratulations spagbol Thanks Grin

tigana · 14/01/2012 17:05

Congratulations spagbol!

thanks ghost and buzz.

The FB nagging has started for me today. Had quite a few irritating texts but today came the 1st wall post. Not bad, not outright "haven't you had that baby yet' but a 'how are you, keep us posted' type of message. Managed a reasonably polite and perky reply.

Have spent an hour doing gardening (lots of squatting) and just taken dog for a short walk. Out for a curry for dinner. Spotting a theme to my days activities?!

BigHotMama · 14/01/2012 17:05

Congratulations spagbol Thanks glad you had positive birth experience this time. Do you have a name for your little boy?

Great to hear your both doing well mumtobe very very envious and so can't wait to be having snuggled with mine soon.

I'm not even 39 weeks yet so way behind some of you but can remember being overdue as being the ultimate pits! I'm sure I'll go over with this one too as had no period type cramps or pains yet.

Glad I've got a long list of jobs still left to do to keep me occupied as mat leave is soooo boring when your just waiting.

Oeisha · 14/01/2012 17:47

laylasmummy Glad you're well again, or at elast much recovered!

milkyways Congratulations! Thanks Bear

spag Congratulations! Thanks Bear

I'm feeling so very uncomfy right now. Lots of slow pokings happening. I keep trying to be positive and think she's trying to turn, but it's just frustrating. DH has bust something in his shoulder (won't go and get it looked at) that codeine (15mg, so not a small dose) isn't really helping so I now also have a partially wounded servant.

I promised him is fav. dinner tonight, so I'd better go see if the chicken's just a bit chilled, or whether fogetting to take it out the fridge earlier has scuppered those planes!

ghosteditor · 14/01/2012 18:06

Huge congrats spagbol! Loving all these thread babies... Was that our first home birth?

I'm having a self indulgent Sad moment in the car while DH finishes up shopping (I bailed out before we finished) as so many of my friends have had their babies already! And quite a few before due dates, Envy about that. Will the waiting ever end? I'm having more purposeful BHs now but I've been fooled by that before, though I've just heard of another friend who thought it was BH (1-2 mins apart!) until her waters broke! Unfortunately her baby was breech so it ended in an EMCS.

fishandlilacs · 14/01/2012 18:50

whoop whoop Congrats Mia and spag and milkyways and glad to be home layalasmum

m2 of course no one minds you popping along-I think it's great were all still keen to chinwag to each other even now babies are here. We have shared quite an experience together so far so reason it should stop now.

I am in agony-I think my hips are going to fall off. I am currently texting round the village friends to the school run for me monday & tues-i don't think I can do it any more.

No news from sister :( I'm so bloody worried now, i'm getting a bit frantic.

ParsleyLion1 · 14/01/2012 19:06

Hope you can get something sorted for a couple of days fish sounds like wednesday can't come soon enough x

Hope you hear from your sister soon Sad

fishandlilacs · 14/01/2012 19:23

parsley cheers darlin'. Yup my lovely friend is covering monday for me and another mum is covering tuesday. Thats means i dont actually have to leave the house or even get dressed on monday or tuesday this week and I can rest off these hips of mine. Honestly SPD hit me a lot later in this pregnancy but it's a hell of a lot worse this time. I sob everytime I have change position-i'm fine sat up in an office chair or the birth ball for a short while, lying down is ok but getting up is sheer hell. There isn't painkiller strong enough to work.

I also feel loads better because MIL is now coming down on tuesday night on the train (without FIL which is a bonus, he's lovely but a bit old for all this now). She can stay til saturday, that gives my mum a few more days to sort out my sister if and when she finally gets home with babes. I am not saying anything but I feel better if I plan for worst case scenario in that she ends up in EMCS and is a bit of a train wreck and hospital for a few days. I have been there I know she'll want mum around if that happens. I dearly hope it doesn't and I wish BIL would just get the odd text out to let us know, I can only assume shes now in established labour as the last I heard was she was going to delivery suite at 1pm to have her waters broken and be put on syntocin.

Have a good evening all, dh has lit the oen fire so i'm going to snuggle with my man. Whatever happens this is our last saturday without a newborn in the house!

fishandlilacs · 14/01/2012 19:36

I have just updated the stats but i'm not sure i captured everyone.

rednosedreindeerhead · 14/01/2012 21:00

hello everyone congratulations to all who have had their babies and those who are labouring away! I can't keep up with this thread now our wifi is in a different room, I just never get a chance to get on my laptop any more! am reading when I can and will post when I have some news, but so far nothing but lots of HB's and not much else, despite curries and sexy times Grin I am only 38+5 though so not getting desperate for baby action just yet.

btw those of you booked for inductions but not really wanting them - you know you don't have to have them right? It's completely your choice how long you wait before trying other things. there is a risk increase as you go over 42/43 weeks, but it is very minimal for low risk women. just don't want anyone to have to have things they really don't want, it's very easy to get swayed by white coat syndrome and be persuaded into things when you're tired and hormonal.

good luck to all those who want to get things moving quicker this weekend and I can't wait to see more pictures of lovely babies Grin 3 of the 8 couples in my NCT have had their babies now, exciting times...

rednosedreindeerhead · 14/01/2012 21:00

need to change my stupid christmas name....

rednosedreindeerhead · 14/01/2012 21:44

won't let me change it!!!

redheadbedhead · 14/01/2012 21:48

phew!

ghosteditor · 14/01/2012 22:07

Heehee it took me a while too red - couldn't figure it out on my phone!!

Ok, crampy pains, HBs, c'mon baby, let's see some action! I still don't think I've had a show - most people get them before labour, right?

MissRee · 14/01/2012 23:17

Any updates from Moobee??? hopefully she's having yummy newborn snuggles by now Grin
