MW was fine. It took about 10 minutes to find the heartbeat which was scary but once baby played ball it was really loud and strong.

I have that scan tomorrow morning at 10. I really want to find out if its a boy or girl. I have everything crossed that baby decided to play nicely and let us know.

We had our 20 week scan today. We'd agreed not to find out the sex but DH suddenly wanted to know. Baby had it's legs crossed anyway so we don't know!!

All looks good with the baby and we managed to get some good photos and detailed views. They want me to go back for a scan at 28 weeks though as there is a synachaie (I think that's how she spelt it!). It's basically a piece of tissue from the lining of my womb that stretches from one side to the other. They said it normally doesn't cause a problem at this stage but they want to rescan to make sure it doesn't get caught round baby's arm or leg or restrict it's growth. Having googled (I know I shouldn't!) it looks like it's usually caused from scar tissue due to a CS or ERPC - well I've had 1 CS and 3 ERPCs so I guess I know they why and just have to hope they baby pushes it out of the way so that it breaks off! (They did say there was a chance this could happen).

Other than that all fine!

Kayz - we both have naughty babies and we both have 80% chance of a girl . I hope they are right for you - are you thinking about having another scan or will you just wait and see? We are just going to wait as we aren't fussed either way and are on a bit of a budget.

Ses - hurray for a great scan and what a clever baby keeping it's legs crossed so you get a surprise! I've never heard of a synachaie but I hope it's gone by the next scan and doesn't cause any problems.

I need some pushchair advice from all you experts. We had the Britax Vigour for DD and loved it although it was very bulky. We haven't used it in ages - she is a pretty good walker so we use the back carrier or just pick her up for a bit if she needs a break. Plus at the weekend we tend to go out in the car. Now I have her at home more during the week we do more walking or take the bus and I find it a struggle to carry her when she gets tired but when I looked for her pushchair it has gone mouldy in the garage . The seat catch was knackered anyway so I really need a new pushchair. I want one I can use when the baby arrives too but I'm not sure what I'll need for the 2DC - what would you recommend??? DD is a pretty good walker but will only be 2.7 when DC2 arrives so needs a rest occassionally plus has whingy days when it takes ages to get her to walk somewhere. I want to avoid a double buggy if possible as they seem really bulky and heavy. Do you think I can manage with the baby carrier/sling + buggy (baby in buggy when DD walking then put baby in carrier when DD needs a rest). I still have the carrycot/pram bit for the Britax so I will use that for first few months when I just have DC2 or for park etc when DD can walk. Would a buggy board be useful or are they just a pain to use? I don't think you can get one for the Britax but could get one for the new pushchair.

I was thinking about a maclaren techo xt - it always gets good reviews, it's okay from birth but quite roomy so both kids should be able to use it, it looks simple to fold and light so easy to stick in the boot or take on the bus and they aren't too expensive atm. What do you think???

Rugby I think I'll have the other scan if I can get my mum to take me back to the scan place. We paid £89 for the scan which included a cd rom of pictures which we didn't get. So I get another scan and don't have to pay anymore. It's the nice pictures I really want.

I have got my 20 week scan soon but they are getting ridiculous with charging for the pictures. One picture is £5 and they won't bother trying for a decent one. So as the other is free I'll have it done again.

I'm feeling like its a girl. This pregnancy is so much different to the first 2.

Hello! Just a quickie (I really do seem to have so little free time at the moment!) but wanted to say great news on the scans so far, and a big happy new year to all. Fine here - ds2 following Gina F nicely and sleeping through now at 10 weeks - woo-hoo! It has been hard work and there's been times when waking him up at 7am for a feed has been agony (ie. if he's been unsettled all night and I'm knackered and could technically lie in). The hardest part so far is having a baby and a 2 year old - never had that gap before (not to worry you SES and RUGBY ). I am certainly having my patience tested shall we say
I will try not to leave it so long and to keep up!

Oh and RUGBY on the pushchair front I've had the Maclaren you mention and it was great. Seems a little more generous seatwise than other buggies and we did have a buggy board on too, Buggy boards are ok - pretty useful though can be a bit of a pain re: kerbs and also bashing into your calfs. But little ones do seem to like them and I've always got on fine with using one. I have the p&t which is pretty good, and I got a bargain on ebay, and will sell on in a couple of years. I've actually bought a new one a few weeks ago (well, second hand) - a M&P sola in grass which I am in love with. Easy to push, quite light and nifty, lies flat then converts into front or away facing when in bugy mode. Not to tempt anyone but it is great!
Anyway, better go and do the bottles - pet hate!

Rugby I'd say a phil & teds would be ideal for you. As the back seat is easily removable you can quickly swap between a 1 and 2 seater. I still use mine all the time with just one 2yo in as it's so nice to push (and gives me lots of shopping space under!). I think it's worth having the option of a double as she'll still be young and there will be times when she's tired or ill and doesn't want to walk, also I don't expect you'll want to be carrying her much when she's a heavy 2.7 and you've just had a baby! You can often pick them up quite cheap on ebay as there are new and old models so the older ones can be a real bargain.

Oh, and Ginger (I know you'll appreciate this) I got my Kitchenaid for Christmas :o it's so shiiiiiiiiiiiney and red :o

Rugby I loved my phil and teds and would recommend them to anyone. It's great as both a single and double pushchair. I wish I still had mine to use for this baby.

DS1 has impetigo. It's on his bottom eyelid and he is feeling sorry for himself as the doctor says he has to have the week off school. So that's about 4 weeks he will have had off.

I've booked to have a repeat scan on thursday. I am hoping the baby is going to be a bit more helpful this time. I just want some nice pictures

thanks for all the recommendations - I'll keep my eye out for a good deal on a Phil and Teds on Ebay. We are fairly short on pennies just now but it looks like they come up on ebay at a decent price fairly regularly. Any particular model or are the doubles all the same really (the classic, explorer, vibe and verve all look pretty similar but I'll have a better look when I get time)?

Kayz - I hope the impetigo clears up soon and you get some good pics of a little pink bean at your next scan. We didn't get great pics at our scan either and we decided not to bother paying for them but when we saw the consultant he gave us loads of the pics for free .

Diege - are you sure there's not even a hint of broodiness . It's good to hear you are still managing to make the most of the sales even with the tricky toddler/baby combo - there's hope for Ses and I yet! I just hope we get babies that sleep through by 10 weeks too .

Moosy - the kitchenaids look fantastic! There's no way I cook or bake enough to justify one but for some reason I really want one anyway .

Kayz - sorry for DS1's impetigo. Hopefully it will clear up now he's got ABs. Hope your little bean behaves for the scan and you get clear piccies and a clear confirmation of pink v blue.

Rugby - I'm in a similar position to you with my Britax as DH "accidentally" broke the buggy seat slightly by squashing the door of the boot down on it. I'm going to see if I can get it repaired or failing that if I can get just a replacement buggy seat and keep the frame and car seat.

Rugby, mine is an e3 which I think is similar to the classic/explorer. The Sport is the next model up (not a lot different). The Vibe/Verve looks swankier but is apparently not as tough if you go off-pavement regularly. The Dash is best IMO - more features than the originals but just as hard wearing.
