blonderthanred · 17/09/2012 21:04

YAYYYYYYYY That's amazing LP! So glad all is well. Congratulations.

fertilityFTW · 17/09/2012 21:13

Very early days here 5+3, coincided with the arrival of the flu in the household.

We 34 (me) and 43 (he) had been TTC 2yrs, 9mths and got the official BFP at a looooong awaited fertility clinic appointment (though I'd been suspicious and had been waving sticks in wee and squinting at the palest imaginings of pink lines all over the place).

Still getting over the flu and have been quite irritated at being unable to separate long awaited symptoms and crappy flu symptoms.

Have a GP appt on Thursday, midwife possibly following tuesday and scan on 3rd. All seems interminable right now.

Am super crampy so that was freaking me out quite a bit, and have become very prone to napping, which is unusual for me. Trying to keep restrained since doc at fert clinic very somberly informed us 1 in 4 will MC and 'we'll know more at scan' - so have been feeling quite anxious and somewhat paranoid since.

fertilityFTW · 17/09/2012 21:26

Congratulations LP! Just the thought of your news is making me beam! How exciting and so special!

cakeandcava · 18/09/2012 09:44

Fantastic news LP! A little boy! Grin You must both be over the moon. Now you just have to spend another 20 weeks growing him!! :)

FFTW how amazing to have your pregnancy confirmed at your first fertility clinic appointment. Slightly annoying doctor to be so downbeat about it though... Yes we all know the stats, no need to spell it out! Bring on the 3rd then -and being prone to naps is good -make the most of comfortable napping with intact functioning body while you still can speaks from bitter experience

HaveALittleFaith · 18/09/2012 09:53

I can't believe how cynical he sounded. Those odds mean there's a 75% chance it will continue though FTW! My friend had a difficult pregnancy and found out at her 20 week scan that her baybee had bilateral cleft lip. They said there was a 1:4 chance he had significant LD and complex health problems, she was really upset. I pointed out there was a 3/4 chance he was find - repeat scan revealed healthy baby. He is gorgeous! Had the clefts repaired and they did an amazing job. A gorgeous smiley baybee now. Just wanted to post that to say stats don't really mean a lot to you as an individual.

I'm glad I've got today off. I feel better but the pain is still lurking and I'm not quite with it! Come to see midwife to get bloods done. I decided to wear my specs rather than contacts because my eyes are a bit scuzzy (lovely!). I drove to the docs and I've just realised I forgot to put my specs on! Confused

fertilityFTW · 18/09/2012 10:05

Thanks cakeandcava and faith - it's so comforting to hear that said. Been wandering around half convinced it's not going to happen. So afraid since we've wanted it so much and for so long.

Hope you take the rest of the day to put your feet up faith.

CamelKnees · 18/09/2012 11:57

Awww FFTW I'm sorry the consultant took the shine off it. The girls are right though the odds are firmly in your favour!

I booked in with the MW this morning. She was lovely but booking the 12 week scan was a bit of a palaver. They couldn't fit me in until I'll be 13+3 which means I'd be waiting for the blood test results until I'm 14+3. I just can't take that long a wait so have just booked a private 12 week scan. Feeling much better about it now.

HaveALittleFaith · 18/09/2012 12:07

What a farce cammy! Glad you've booked the scan now but it's a shame you can't have it on the NHS as you're entitled to!

I am clearly going bonkers. I couldn't see very well with my specs right, so I double checked - I must have slept with my contacts in and been wearing them all morning! No wonder my sight was fuzzy! I washed my hair with them in too.

FTWoo we're the same. Totally fatalistic after having such a long time TTC and such a bad run of, well, life! We just keep telling each other there's no reason to assume this will be anything but a normal, healthy pregnancy. I don't even like PUPO - the 'until proven otherwise' implies a negative. We just keep focusing on each milestone, day by day, week by week.

queenrollo · 18/09/2012 12:10

faith and fftw i know how you feel....When you've had such a tough journey to get where we are it's so hard not spend those early weeks worrying. I was awful until I got my 12 week scan. I was so happy the m/w tried the doppler at 16 weeks and found a heartbeat. Now i'm having regular movements from our little bundle through the day it is a lot more reassuring for me.

I found those first 12 weeks dragged......and now it's going fast! HOLB said to me the other day 'blimey, we're nearly halfway!'....

fertilityFTW · 18/09/2012 12:12

Thanks Camel :)
On the plus side though, since consultant is clearly of the 'expecting the worst' type, my scan's booked (from what I now understand reading these threads) extraordinarily early at 7+5. It's taken us a long time to get here, but I don't think I'm all that high risk Hmm - regardless I won't look that scanny gift horse in the mouth and hope to just hold it together till then!
Good to hear your MW was lurvely, looking quite forward to meeting one myself! And good on you for booking a 12 week one for yourself - best to stave of additional worry, hope it turns out just like you'd want.

fertilityFTW · 18/09/2012 12:15

faith and queenrollo - it's nice to know I'm not the only one! thank you for the reassurance! Thanks

what a great thread, what luffly posters...

HaveALittleFaith · 18/09/2012 12:19

I am massively emotional too! I was even nice to a Bible bashed who turned up at the front door :) I cried at Dawson's Creek!

I think they tend to scan people who have been under investigation/prep for fertility treatment early. That scan will hopefully give you some reassurance. The MW today said she would expect my scan date to arrive 2 weeks before my scan date so I'm hoping in the next two weeks. I want the date to aim for.

HaveALittleFaith · 18/09/2012 12:24

On a different note, I have Next vouchers from my birthday. Now clearly there's no point in buying clothes! Do I buy these gorgeous pumps I have a pair of navy Adidas but they don't go with black clothes or a Babyliss big hair?

fertilityFTW · 18/09/2012 12:38

Ooh, those are cute! And I do love BIG hair! (sorry, to be of absolutely no help, but appreciate the quandary!)

HaveALittleFaith · 18/09/2012 12:41

I have £20 in vouchers and a bit of cash but I can't afford both! You are most unhelpful woo but have reassured me that my dilemma is justified!

HaveALittleFaith · 18/09/2012 12:41
Grin
CamelKnees · 18/09/2012 12:46

I vote for pumps! Big Hair is fab but fear it would gather dust (the gadget rather than your actual hair) once the baybee is here

cakeandcava · 18/09/2012 12:59

I like the pumps too! Go for it Grin
