Well, I survived IKEA -just about... And we got stuff! Lots of stuff! Sheets, a changing table, blinds, bedcovers, even a cute lampshade. And a sofa bed, as the nursery will double up as a guest room. And we also went to the large out-of-town Mothercare and got all sorts of scary stuff for the hospital bag -maternity pads, nipple cream, nursing bras, sleepsuits. It was good to get it done, but it did make everything very real! (Although I did enjoy explaining to Mr Cakes the intricacies of newborn clothing and sizing, which I'm only really just figuring out myself...)

Sorry your in-laws are such a complicated bunch faife, but at least you and MSB seem to have a good handle on it!

Blonde just 6 more weeks, scary stuff. Same as me actually then, I'm 34 weeks tomorrow, but obviously don't have the same deadline as you. Maybe we'll end up with a double-lay?

Bump size is an odd one -we sound similar LP, I was showing quite clearly at 17 weeks. When I went to my first antenatal yoga class at 24 weeks I had a serious bump -some of the other girls looked like they were way behind me, but turned out to be into the 30s week-wise Shock

HaveALittleFaith · 08/09/2012 23:50

Sounds like you're nearly sorted then cakey! Well done you! :)

I had a fab evening with my Dad (!) and his mates. All in their 60s/70s but with a wicked sense of humour and lots of fun! We went to the local theatre and saw two young musicians perform in the first half and watched the last night of the proms in the second! I actually can't remember the last time I enjoyed myself so much. I've got so bogged down with fertility problems/the fire/my health problems I've stopped enjoying myself. Surviving, not living. I feel like I've been freed in some ways by getting diffed. Shattered as I may be now, I've realised I really do need to get out more :) I need to book more stuff in!

blonderthanred · 09/09/2012 01:16

Wow cakey that sounds epic - good work! I have started making lists but will buy stuff when we're back from France.

So glad you had a good night Faith, more of the same is definitely in order. We've just got back from the Paralympics, shattered but it was amazing. No GB or Irish wins but we saw Oscar P and lots of other fun stuff. So happy I made it to the stadium!

Baby is jumping around like crazy, think it enjoyed itself! I definitely didn't buy it a t shirt aged 3-4 yrs as they'd run out of baby stuff

HaveALittleFaith · 09/09/2012 13:12

Sounds like lots of fun blonder! I'm gad we saw some Olympics but am but sad we never saw the stadium.

I have been to church. It was great :) told one couple about my diffment who have been praying with us since cycle #11! They said it had made their day Grin it's nice to be going into church being positive and sayithag things are changing. Fun stuff now like hanging wanting out and ironing Hmm before delivering the cake I baked (hurray for successful baking, turns out granulated sugar is not ok to substitute for caster and that will make your cake disintegrate) and give him his birthday present. He's 3 so birthdays are very, very exciting! :)

FriendofDorothy · 09/09/2012 15:48

I'm tired :(

Think I will go to bed for a couple of hours or so!

HaveALittleFaith · 09/09/2012 15:53

Fairy snuff dor. I have finished ironing and been vegging out on the sofa and watching Dawson's Creek and now Trollied waiting for my sister to get back.

queenrollo · 09/09/2012 16:05

we had visitors yesterday who have three whirlwind children....it was fantastically entertaining, if a little fraught at times. They went to bed quite late and my poor boy who is a late riser (8am he gets up) was woken about 5.30 by his new roomate. 6.30 the two younger ones woke up and started making noise so that was most of us adults up (not DH he sleeps through everything).
I've had a nap on the sofa, and DS is currently snuggled up looking like he might nod off.

My back is hurting a lot....going to get booked in with the osteopath before it gets worse. Very frustrating not being able to do lots of things that need doing.

FriendofDorothy · 09/09/2012 23:17

How many weeks is everyone now?

HaveALittleFaith · 10/09/2012 06:57

Sounds like fun but tiring queenie!

I'm 7+3 today. Got bloods booked with MW for next week and waiting for scan date.

FriendofDorothy · 10/09/2012 08:24

Ah, I thought youw ere further on. I think knowing so early means that I assume time is flying by quicker than it is! How are you feeling at the moment?

cakeandcava · 10/09/2012 08:27

Feeling a bit more awake today Dor? Hope you're dong well!

I'm 34+1 today. Seeing midwife this morning. Always feels like I'm off to pass a test in some way...

Sorry your back is not good queenie -is it diffment related, or something else?

Hope everyone had a luffly weekend -and hope you're enjoying France blondie.

cakeandcava · 10/09/2012 08:28

*doing

And faife -hope you get that scan date sorted out -exciting (but tiring) times! :)

FriendofDorothy · 10/09/2012 08:31

I am fine although quite stiff and my back is getting more sore with every day. I am thinking I might have to request a physio referral soon. My hips seem better thgou - they were only bad when I was camping I think!

I have GTT next week and then see the consultant. 26 weeks now. Time is flying!

queenrollo · 10/09/2012 08:48

cake back is diffment related, but I did fall down the stairs three years ago and landed hard on the joint which is now playing up. I think it's complaining now that everything is loosening up. At the end of my PG with DS I lost feeling/movement in my left leg after days of it being painful and at the moment my left leg is achy and the calf is uncomfortable. This is all related anatomically....

Well....the morning sickness seems to have cleared off again Smile.......going to Cambridge to see a band tomorrow night. Hope I can stay awake!!

LauraPalmer · 10/09/2012 14:17

Hi all, love that it's all kicked off in PESHland.

To answer Dor's question, I'm 18+2.

Having a particularly rough morning - huge fight with TOM about a very small inconsequential issue but it totally blew up and now he's in a horrid mood. He'll probably hold on to it for another 24 hours. Sad

I hate feeling stressed because I'm afraid it's negatively affecting the baby.

And now I feel all yucky and depressed.

queenrollo · 10/09/2012 15:14

I had a huge row with DS this morning and sounded like the mother of a teenager, rather than a 7 year old, when I told him to clear off to his room and sulk there!

Have booked the osteo...week on Tuesday. Just have to cope with the pain until then.

HaveALittleFaith · 10/09/2012 19:37

I am feeling very tired cakey. Awful nausea today. Had to tell my boss I'm diffed - I said can I have a quick word? then ran away to puke when he turned his back! Had to work on the ward which was tough and I'm dreading going back full time :(

The last few weeks for you seem to have gone slowly lors. Sorry you had a fight. Not easy us it? Being diffed doesn't magically cure all your problems.....
Speaking of we went for our first proper Relate session. MSB was mardy beforehand and doesn't seem to be Luffing it but I think we need to air this stuff out. Next one in 10 days time.

queen ouch your back sounds bad. Mine gets stiff because I walk funny with the abdo pain. I had a massage which helped massively, Hope the osteo helps!

HaveALittleFaith · 11/09/2012 19:43

Eurgh rubbish day. I was really sick last night after dinner - never eating Wetherspoon's chicken skewers again! - and this morning. I travelled over to the market town near queenie for work with a bucket beside me in case I couldn't pull over in time! Lots of walking round wards which tired me out. I've had loads of you look tired questions and several people asking if I'm ok and thinking I'm ill!

I'm pissed off with MSB. I came home and crawled in to bed. He asked me if we could survive if he earns certain wage (he's job hunting). I said sleepily we'd have to look at our finances and need to bear in mind my wages are going down from October and he got really angry saying I only care about how much he earns and don't appreciate how unhappy he is! Shock all while I was half asleep. Literally in bed with my eyes closed. Then I heard him on the phone telling his Nan he's exhausted. I don't think he knows the meaning of the word! Grrr. We were ok til the counselling. I think it's stirring up feelings and he resents going but clearly we need it. I am waiting for an apology....

HaveALittleFaith · 11/09/2012 20:22

Ok I have had my apology! Just said he needs to pick his moments and I am supportive of him finding a new job!

CamelKnees · 11/09/2012 21:22

evening PESH

Hope all ok. I feel shite but that's not new. Scary work presentation tomorrow which is stressing me right out but trying to distract self with mumsnet and one born evey minute.

faithy glad MSB has seen sense. FWIW I do think they can a bit clueless about how fecking hard this is. Was telling HY before that I had to go for a 20 minute cat nap in my car at lunchtime due to bone crushing tiredness, which was followed swiftly by him being a bit huffy about having to wash the giant pan he decided to use for tea and is the only one in the entire house that doesn't fit in the bloody dishwasher. Want to shout "piss right off I'm owing you a person" sometimes.

queen and Dot hope the backs ease up. Are you going to see anyone about it? I drove past a private hospital up here the other day and noticed they have pregnancy physio for back problems and the like. I'd sort of always assumed here was nothing that could be dine whilst diffed but evidently not.

LP hope TOM's huffiness is on the wane. Am sure a normal amount of man induced stress won't harm the baby. I'm sure all those studies about stress negatively affecting pregnancy must be in quite extreme circumstances.

blonde hope France is awesome. Am v jealous!

cakey you're a super hero for braving Ikea whilst very diffed! Take the rest of the week off!!

FriendofDorothy · 11/09/2012 21:50

I phoned up the midwives and requested a referral to the pregnancy physio today. Rather impressively half an hour later I was able to phone up and book an appointment for 3 October. It's a little while off but I'll manage until then!

CamelKnees · 11/09/2012 22:02

Ooooh good work dor ! Let us know how you get on. I've had a niggly back issue for a couple of years and fear it might get worse with pregnancy.

Think I'm going to have to retire to my bed. Emotionally exhausted after watching the one born every minute twins and triplets special. Not good diffed viewing!

FriendofDorothy · 11/09/2012 22:08

I have recorded it. Will watch it in daylight!

cakeandcava · 12/09/2012 09:21

Hope you're feeling a bit better today Faith -probably a good idea to tell your boss. Hiding it makes it extra difficult I find.

Sorry to hear about arguments on many fronts :( It's such a stressful time for everyone. I wouldn't worry to much about harming the baby with stress levels though -I think those have to be pretty extreme and constant -DV victims and such, but not normal relationship ups and downs.

This is my last week at work, and all of a sudden there is so much to do! People to catch up with, projects to tie up, friends in town to meet, and NCT classes too. And all I want to do is lie on the sofa and sleep!

And you're brave for watching OBEM -I'm finding it almost impossible to watch at the moment.

HaveALittleFaith · 12/09/2012 14:35

Sadly I am still puking/feeling rough today, had trouble leaving the house. Taken it easy, just tidied and now just sat shredding working very hard!

Our problem is me being diffed and feeling awful whole he is mizz about work. Him getting pissy about me being unsupportive when asleep! is futile though.

I have watched OBEM but I still struggle to get past being pregnant so am in denial about having a baby! :)
