Hello again!

Thanks for the welcomes! I'm feeling pretty exhausted today. I've had a nasty cold for the past 2 weeks which I just can't seem to shift! (low immune system & all that!!!!) My dd has also had it so been running round after her too. i've been turning up for work half asleep!

Is anybody else suffering with quite bad exhaustion at 19 weeks +? I thought that the tiredness was supposed to ease off during the 2nd trimester?

Thanks

L x

LilacBump · 17/01/2006 15:43

hi girls (and welcome to newcomers!). i hope you are all well.

i've now finished the third course of anti-biotics and handed in another sample. hoping that'll be clear of infection. i also had the bloods done that the hospital wanted doing to check my kidney function. results should be back for both on friday.

i am half way through today! 20 weeks! i can't believe how fast it's going now.

i had heartburn for 3-4 months with DD. rennies helped (though i found myself quite addicted to them in the end). a glass of milk too. plenty of pillows to prop you up in bed. and you might find some foods make it worse, so best to avoid those.

i'm sleeping quite well, but turning over in bed is done in about 27 stages as otherwise baby gets bumped and muscles stretch too much. it's a good thing i sleep alone in bed (DP works nights) as i remember last time i never had enough room etc.

sarahsbump · 17/01/2006 18:59

Hi all x hope everyone is well
Baby seems to be doing well,I got to hear the heartbeat again yesterday
Unfortunatly my relationship isnt doing so well and infact I would say it is virtually over !! So it looks like sinle motherhood here I come !! So if anyone has any good tips on how to cope I would be very grateful x

BABY2 · 17/01/2006 20:10

lisbabies
Am i only 19 weeks , I have backache and am still so tired i quite agree i thought it should of passed by now untill last trimester.

I havent been sleeping to good at night though, i carnt stop thinking about how ds is going to react to a baby in the house, he is so set in he way and routine.

BABY2 · 17/01/2006 20:12

sarahsbump
sorry to her about you and dp, hope things turn out ok for you.

Laura032004 · 17/01/2006 21:37

No real heartburn here yet, but it's coming - I leant over yesterday, and felt the first acid burn. It was terrible last pg - I used to carry a bottle of Gaviscon around in my handbag, and just swig at regular intervals!!! I had my first nosebleed today as well - anybody else getting these? I wondered if they were coming, as I started getting some blood when I blew my nose. Not fun with a 1 year old trying to help!

I'm having a quiet time with antenatal appts etc at the moment, so v.jealous of all these scans. I haven't even got a date for mine yet, but I'm only 17 weeks tomorrow, so a bit behind some of you.

abbey1515 - I wouldn't worry too much about things that you might not know, just remember women have been doing this for lots of years without all this medical advice! By 24 weeks, you wouldn't be comfortable on your back anyway. I think you're meant to lie on your left hand side, as lying on the other side puts pressure on some important artery. Never heard the fennel one?

ladyschaefer - glad to hear that the morning sickness had died down

BABY2 & vbab78 - so pleased that your scans went well

bubbly1973 - good news with the test results! It's a shame they couldn't have been more clear about that in the first place isn't it!

lilsbabies - congratulations and welcome to the Junies thread

mrsbabookaloo - trousers for £120 I had some stuff from there last pg, that was expensive, but nothing that steep! Glad to hear you found something in DP's!

lilsbabies, BABY2, diddle & vbab78 - sorry to hear that you are all feeling so tired. I think the babies start a growth spurt around now (quick check on babycentre - they double in weight & add inches to their length between weeks 18-21) so maybe that's what it is? You'll really start to feel them kicking soon!

LilacBump - fingers crossed for clear test results

sarahsbump - sorry to hear about the breakdown of your relationship. No real tips I'm afraid, but DH was away at sea (Navy) for most of my last pg, so I know how lonely it can feel. Have you got close friends / family you can lean on? It might be worth posting on the single parent forum for some advice.

Sorry for the long post! Should catch up more often!

trinity1 · 18/01/2006 09:49

Had 20 week scan yesterday - Everything looks excellent - they said its a girl! DP & I have been walking around with huge stupid grins on our faces ever since! xxx

trinity1 · 18/01/2006 09:51

ps - good luck to everyone whose scans are coming up and welcome izzyrubi

LilacBump · 18/01/2006 11:05

oh trinity, how lovely! a girl!!!

sarahsbump, sorry your relationship isn't doing well {{hug}}

still thinking of you, dana, hope your mum's ok.

vbab78 · 18/01/2006 12:19

Diddle good luck for your scan tomorrow.

That website link on sleep really helped me. I had an amazing nights sleep last night. I think it was having a bath then getting straight in bed and sleeping on my left hand side that did it.

sarahsbump - glad to hear everything is ok with baby. sorry to hear about your troubles with dp. Fingers crossed things work out. Pregnancy can put stress on a relationship. I'm here if you need to talk. My dh's sister went through the same thing and unfortunately her relationship did break a couple of months before my nephew was born. It was hard at first but they are both fine and she has been with someone else for a while now and they have a 9 month old little girl. They couldn't be happier.

abbey1515 · 18/01/2006 12:26

Trinity, glad everything ok! Not surprised you are both grinning, it's lovely news!
Lilac, how are you feeling now? I have miserable cold I can't get rid of, and everytime I cough I feel like I pull all my stomach muscles!

LilacBump · 18/01/2006 14:22

abbey, i hope you feel better soon. i'm feeling very well thanks i haven't felt this good since october! i'm trying to drink plenty of water, eat healthy foods and i'm also taking vitamins (pregnancy safe ones of course) in the hope i can stop me getting another infection or cold.

lilsbabies · 18/01/2006 15:24

Baby2 - I'm so glad that I am not the only one feeling like this. Lets hope it soon stops & we both get a bit more energy? I really need it with a 2 1/2 year old!

Trinity - Congratulations on finding out it's a Girl! I have a little Girl, they are sooo much fun!

Laura - Hello & thanks for the Welcome!

Diddle - Good luck with the scan, please let us know how it went?

Abbey - Sorry to hear that you are not very well, hope you are feeling better soon? I'm just getting over my cold!

Izzyrubi - Hi & Welcome, hope you enjoy it on here? I'm pretty new myself.

Take care all,

Leanne x

KathrynWales · 19/01/2006 11:34

Hi, thanks for the welcome!

Have been reading about everyone's heartburn and nodding like mad! Mine is really bad! Thought that didn't come til much later on... think I am turning into mad hypochondriac!

Haven't been able to come on here for few days as had a bit of a 'scare'
Had a really bad pain the other night, and lost a bit of very dark blood. Was totally convinced was having a miss. (Have had 2 in past)On top of that, baby had been jumping around like crazy up until the day of the pain and then nothing....

Eventually picked up courage to phone MW yesterday who came to see me and got the doppler out. Heard baby's heartbeat!!! Was told at 18 wks, if baby moves round to face your back, it is quite normal to stop feeling movement, but told to phone her if any more loss, which there hasn't been.

Big big relief, and so I am able to read about babies again without coming over all hormonal...

Roll on June!

Dana · 19/01/2006 12:11

I had my 20 week scan today. I hadn't really had time to worry about it and thankfully everything was just fine. Looks like it's a boy. The nurse who did the scan was 99,9% sure and I saw "the third leg" myself, so not much doubt there.
I think I had secretly wished for a girl, but after the initial "oh... ok..." feeling, I am absolutely thrilled that I am having another boy and that DS is going to have a little brother.

Good to hear about the other succesful scans. Diddle, hope yours went well today.

Lilac, great that you're feeling so much better. Hope you are finished with your share of the troubles now.

Not much heartburn here yet. I suffered it really bad in last pregnancy, so hope it will be a bit better this time.

abbey1515 · 19/01/2006 12:32

Dana, glad scan was ok- that's really good news! How is everything else?

Kathryn, it's great that you heard the heartbeat- it must have been terrifying. Take care of yourself xxx

BABY2 · 19/01/2006 13:16

dana-good news baby boy is well, i had the same fealing on monday when i found out i was having another boy, but now i couldn't be more glald now.

diddle · 19/01/2006 15:43

So glad your scan went well Dana, congratulations on your little boy.

Our scan went well, even if it was a little brief, they rushed us in, she did all her measuring etc, without showing us the screen, then she showed us baby wizzed round my belly with the scanner, didn't keep it still for a second, baby could have been really still we wouldn't have known. They didn't even offer to check the sex of baby at all. I was not impressed.

hows everyone else doing?

LilacBump · 20/01/2006 09:37

dana, glad your scan went well. congrats on having a boy

diddle, how awful for you! doesn't sound like a nice scan.

nic33 · 20/01/2006 11:22

Had great 20-week scan yesterday - and another little boy, which is what I wanted and expected. Had been referred to consultant because of downs risk. Never actually had amnio, scan looks good, so hoping for best. Spent ages scanning - I think he was showing off to junior colleagues, and it was wonderful. Saw soles of feet, eye brows, everything. Between legs view left me in no doubt of sex - he's the spit of his big brother!

Feeling v happy. Hope everyone else has good scans too.
