All the names sound great.

I'm all excited about choosing names, boys and girls because we don't want to know the sex, but DH just doesn't seem into it.

Maybe I am thinking about it too early? I am only approaching 20 weeks fast. Am I only one that thinks it has gone fast so far?

BABY2 · 10/01/2006 13:37

i have also been having problems thinking of girs names, realy liked leah for girl but dh chose name for ds and called him lee. so for girl have been thinking amy, danniella or beth. and boys like danny, karl or jake. carnt waite to find out sex, got first scan at 19 weeks (next week)does anyone know when they can tell you what sex the baby is?

vbab78 · 10/01/2006 14:37

Baby2 I have got my 20 week scan on monday and as far as I know this is when you would find out the sex if you want to.

bubbly1973 · 10/01/2006 16:07

hiya girls, i wont be choosing names until nearer the time cos i know what will happen, we will both eventually decide on a name then when the time comes will be bored of it and want another one!!

hope someone can help before tomorrow, i have a scan 19weeks but not sure if im supposed to drink water or not, have any of you had your scan and did you need to drink water?

laura, did you like kynance cove? its best to go when the tide is out, in that way you can walk around the beach to the other side, im glad you took a walk there, who knows one day we could very well end up bumping into each other on a hot sunny day!!

abbey1515 · 10/01/2006 16:35

Bubbly, my general scan info that the hospital sent says always drink a couple of pints as full bladder pushes baby towards surface. At my last scan I was absolutely desperate for the loo, but as soon as was given sample bottle for specimen was completely unable to go!
We change our favourite name nightly- has been Eve, Anabella, Isobella, Niamh (Neve) and Felicity- Felicity has seemed to be a constant though...
Felt awful last night as had bit of an argument (completely stupid) with DH (am a bit hormonal at the miute) and went to lie down afterwards and baby was absolutely somersaulting- so no more arguments!I only feel it occasionally, and its not really hugely noticeable, just a kind of fluttlering and faint tapping I think. Bump has suddenly shot out- all of the kids at school have noticed and are asking aboutit!

PomsMum · 10/01/2006 17:24

My DH had a great idea for choosing names when we were expecting DD, he used all the names we were coming up with as passwords for his computer, then if they still appealed by the time he was asked to change the password they stayed on the list, if he couldn't bear to type them in after a few days then they were off the list. We ended up with a name that we both love, and that we get lots of compliments about as well - bonus. Does this help?!

Yummymummy24 · 10/01/2006 19:20

I dont usually drink a load of water b4 scaqn find it too uncomfy just dont wee for a couple of hours b4 and its fine. Had plenty of scans b4 and theyve always worked. DP's never seem interested in names or birth plans it well bugs. I think they just block it out!!!!! Hope tests go ok dana xxxx

Bugs · 10/01/2006 21:35

Cor i go to ne meeting and theres loads of new messages.
Laura yeah ok i'm on the larger size (i.e about a 16) but weight has evened out approx half a stone under normal. I am still getting a bit of sickness but in truth have just gone off food. dh is fab he sits me down and makes me try to eat.
The names we've picked for now are Greg for a boy & either Nina or Nakitia for girls .. but they'll change lol

Laura032004 · 10/01/2006 22:16

Bugs - hope I didn't offend you asking about your weight. I used to be a Slimming World consultant, so it's something that I am really interested in. Not that I'm being particularly virtuous at the moment Glad your DH is being supportive. I think little and often is the key. I've lost my appetite since ds was born (apart from for chocolate!) - I just don't ever fancy things any more like I used to.

We've got no names yet, but we didn't decide on DS's name until the day he was born, so plenty of time yet! We've got quite a boring surname, so I'd like an interesting first name, but DH and I have completely different opinions on names. Last pg though he was so disinterested in names that we only ever got as far as 'A' in the book. Hence our baby names were either Alex or Anna! We'll have to get to at least B this time!

((Dana)) - best wishes for your mum's test results

bubbly1973 - Kynance was lovely. The tide was in unfortunately, but I've been informed that there is a cafe there in the summer, so we'll definitely be going again then. We are really lucky to have so many beaches so close by. We usually go for a walk on one of them most weeks, even in the winter. In fact the winter is better as we can take our dog then as well.

Hi Mums-To-Be!
I haven't written in ages....had my PC upgraded and lost the link.
I am 17 weeks now. My bump seems to be getting bigger everyday. Was really surspised when I noticed my belly button getting bigger too
So weird.
I have been lucky with clothes as my sis had a baby 4 months ago and has passed me a whole lot of maternity stuff. Unfortunately she's size 8 and I'm size 10 so some of the clothes she gave me are a bit snug
I already started wearing stuff that she was probably wearing in later months...haha.

As I am in Malaysia, I have not been able to find any bump bands
I am going to Australia next week and hope to find some there. Anyone know if they are available in Perth? It will be my first trip to Perth.

diddle · 11/01/2006 09:43

babybelly - my belly button is stretching too, so very very weird, and it seems to be moving higher, so all my growth and skin stretching is below my belly button, this is my first baby so i never expected that, well i didn't know what to expect.

Dana - hope you get some good news soon, thinking of you and your family.

Feeling rather large at the moment, and its only gonna get bigger. I keep forgetting i have a bump and trying to fit through little gaps that i used to fit.

slinkstah · 11/01/2006 10:27

wow peoples belly buttons are changing already? does your uterus come up to belly button already? mine is still about 3inches away. 17 weeks for me tommorrow
its good to see some other people who are 16/17 weeks too i was getting worried i was one of the only ones due to the end of the month
baby gave me back pain yesterday, i couldnt bend hardly and i could only hear really quiet heart beat with doppler, so am figuring baby was exploring my back. its hard to beleive theres a 13cm baby in there.

LilacBump · 11/01/2006 11:19

my belly button is slightly coming up. i thought this wouldn't happen until a lot further along.

talking of weight... i had only gained 1kg until last week and now it's gone up to 2.5kg since the beginning of the pregnancy. with DD i was sick so much that i actually lost about 5kg. i thought i would have trouble finding maternity clothes in my size (18-20) but it's been surprisingly easy.

oh and i am no longer in pain! it's so nice as i've had to put up with it for about 3 weeks. i think the anti-biotics are finally working.

how much have you all bought for your baby so far? apart from little things i've bought a travel system (it was on sale and i couldn't help myself!).

vbab78 · 11/01/2006 12:06

As it happens I said to my DH yesterday that I think my belly button is flattening out!

I'm waiting for my 20 week scan/checkup on Monday to see how much weight I have put on. I don't think I've put on much when I look in the mirror, apart from bump and breasts but you never know!

All I've bought so far is a from birth stroller! Must get on with things.

BABY2 · 11/01/2006 14:50

lilacbump,
you say you have bought a travel system, i bought one when pg with ds. i didnt check to see if it would go in the boot of my car, and guess what it didnt and as we had used the car seat to get ds home from hospital they wouldent change it. just thought i would let you know.

i havent started to buy anything yet i am waiting till scan next week when hopefully i will find out sex of baby.

LilacBump · 11/01/2006 14:55

i had a travel system for DD and it was very bulky and quite horrible. i gave it to the charity shop a few months before we decided to have another baby. this new pushchair is great. it is a lot lighter and more practical (though obviously i haven't tested it yet with a baby in it!). and it fits easily in our car

icklmum · 11/01/2006 16:16

hi again all, you all sound like your blooming fast.
im so glad i look pg now rather that bloated

i havent bought a thing yet...ive not even looked! but then dp has banned me from looking at anything baby related til after 20wk scan. Which thankfully is in 2.5 weeks cos im getting the itchy shopping finger!

Lots of kicks today!

vbab78 · 11/01/2006 17:05

I agree LilacBump about checking that the travel system fits in the car boot.

It was one of my main concerns because I have only got a ford fiesta. But I bought a from birth stroller after the shop let me try it in my car boot. Lots of room left after it went in.

It is also really light and it can be folded with one hand so the other hand is free to hold baby, if for example I am getting on a bus.

vbab78 · 11/01/2006 17:06

Forgot to say ... obviously buying a car seat separate.

bubbly1973 · 11/01/2006 19:23

abbey thanks for letting me know about drinking the water,

scan went great today, no problems could be seen, the baby is a proper wriggler though, kept moving around soooo much, was wonderful to see,

ive not bought anything, dont really intend to as i kept everything after having ds, i will probably buy an outfit for baby to wear home from hospital....feel bad now as you lot all seem to be buying loads of stuff, feel mean

Flum · 11/01/2006 20:00

Hello all, long time no writey.

Dana, jeeeezus, v. gutted for you about your mum.

HarlowQueen - Would love to know if you end up living in a street called Strype St. We used to live there and in our building there were loads of American couples whose bank employers had brought them over! It is right by Liverpool St.

What news. getting a bump, people starting to give me funny looks at work although still in loose tops and scarves to try to hide. argh

Can we do a weight gain check.

I am 18 weeks preggers and have gained 9lb so far. Am terrified as put on 4stone last time Yes you read that right 56lb !!!!!!!!!!!!! (check my maths please) Mind you 14lb was in last two weeks and due to massive water retention. If baby had been born on time not a fortnight late would only have put on 3 stone.

BABY2 · 11/01/2006 20:13

i am also about 18 weeks and have gained 10lb so far. i am quite worried about gaining weight, i dont know what i was b4 PG with DS but after birth i was 14 stone, i went on a diet and lost 4 stone, now i am worried i will put it all back on. It took me 1.5 years to lose it last time, and i dont fancy doing it all again.

Flum · 11/01/2006 20:14

Ok stats needed I guesss are:

weight before conception and weight gained so far

me 10stone13lb gained 9lbs

don't give weight if you don't want to though of course!!!!!!

BABY2 · 11/01/2006 20:22

was 10.10 18 weeks ago now 11.6

BabyBelly · 12/01/2006 03:47
