Hopefully no one else has done it while my phone is messing about!

addicted i'm so sorry about your holiday love :( Booo.

I have reflexology and MW today-in fact I better get my arse in gear. Then i am planning very little as I am tired, fed up and grumpy today. Feel like shite.

ParsleyandChestnutStuffingLion · 13/12/2011 09:40

worm I also have a pile that appeared yesterday. AngryBlush I shall be visiting the chemist for options later.

FrillyMilly · 13/12/2011 09:48

Addicted what a shame about your holiday. I've had to cancel so many things this year thanks to bump making me so ill. I'm expecting him to show up Xmas day given his track record.

I'm so restless at the moment especially at night. I feel like I can't keep still. Just want to pace around or rock leaning on my ball.

MakesXmasCakesWhenStressed · 13/12/2011 09:49

Someone recommended something for piles t'other day, who was it? Was it a calendular thing or something?

MakesXmasCakesWhenStressed · 13/12/2011 09:52

I know this is totally daft and superstititious, but do any of you keep reading everything as a sign that labour is imminent?

Atm it's an upset stomach and the fact there's a double rainbow outside the window... I am officially mental.

miamamaClaus09 · 13/12/2011 09:58

sho yes I have got a present for DD which will be from the baby - it's a doctors kit, thought it quite apt, and since she didn't have one already. Got it wrapped in the cupboard ready to go!
She also picked out a little soft teddy for him a while back which is in my bag.

I can't believe some of you are so close to delivery, it's freaking me right out! I am determined to keep him in until 2012, the thought of anything earlier is scaring me, there's so much left to do. haven't even picked up the crib yet from DBILs house. Must do that this weekend!

MakesXmasCakesWhenStressed · 13/12/2011 09:59

I want mine out before I get any more stretchmarks. Bio oil has done nothing and I found a new blossoming of purple lines across me this morning :(

Wormshuffler · 13/12/2011 10:03

Sho, having spoken to a couple of midwife friends it would appear that we still ring the consultant unit when in labour and would then get diverted to a particular alternative town/city. So out of my hands. Apparently it has happened twice in the last year. I am due to have an ELCS at 39 weeks, so am less worried about it than if I was like most people and waiting for when baby is ready. Assuming this one doesn't have it's own plan that is!

FrillyMilly · 13/12/2011 10:04

I found oil based stretchmark things a waste of time. After I had DD I got some Boot expert scar serum. It's fantastic! I recommend it to everyone as my stretchmarks pretty much vanished. I know people who have used it on scars and it works well on them too. My sister was told by a doctor that non oil scar products are better as they are absorbed in to the skin more easily.

Just reminded me that I need to get something for DD from baby and take her to choose something for baby.

SantaSHO · 13/12/2011 10:05

Really sorry to hear you have cancelled your trip addicted . Rebook for next year, it will be much more fun with a 1yo running around as well. (trying to put a positive spin on it)

Hope baby is head down and stays that way nanny

worm do you have a back up plan in case they close again when your time comes?
It's terrible that this kind if thing happens so often. As if pregnant women don't have enough to worry about!

MakesXmasCakesWhenStressed · 13/12/2011 10:07

Thanks Milly - will go get myself some - can't believe how much they're getting to me. I thought I would be much more laissez faire about it...

SantaSHO · 13/12/2011 10:17

Hmm wonder why my phone reposted? ?

Anyways. worm hopefully baby sticks with the plan and you don't need to put up with the palava of dealing with a change of venue at the last minute.

I used Palmers cocoa butter last time and got stretch marks. Have been using bio oil this time and got a few new lines at the very top of my bump. Think its thanks to babys nogging trying to escape out the top. Think bio oil is better for afterwards rather than during iykwim

ParsleyandChestnutStuffingLion · 13/12/2011 10:17

Apparently, stretch marks are likely to be genetic cakes not sure if that helps. There's also a theory that the older you are the less likely you are to get them - I suspect this is something to do with being less elastic. If it is any consolation I'm told they do fade and go away. My stepmother said hers (and my stepsisters) were horrific but hers have completely gone now.

I looked up that cream for piles and it said to contact dr if pregnant. I thought I'd ask the pharmacist first.

MakesXmasCakesWhenStressed · 13/12/2011 10:19

I have a load of stretchmarks from puberty which have faded, so I know that they do, but it does change the texture of your skin and I had enough body issues before without adding more scars :(

Stupid stupid stupid thing to worry about, I know.

SantaSHO · 13/12/2011 10:24

I can agree parsley, it does have a lot to do when genes. I know 2 sisters, 1 who has always been skinny(size 10 on a really fat day) and never got 1 mark on her. Where as her sister had yoyo weight issues. She's either massive or as skinny as her sis. In her words, she has a 'body like a zebra'
Oh the sibling rivalry!

Wormshuffler · 13/12/2011 10:24

The age thing may be right.............I got terrible stretch marks with my dcs 12 and 10, but so far (touch wood) no new ones (yet) I have been using aldi own bio oil and the old ones are looking better. They may fade away parsley but they dont un-stretch. I have a terrible overhang over my cs scar where I lost the baby weight but the skin is bigger than it needs to be.

addictediam · 13/12/2011 10:30

Dh is looking at rebooking for next year, just need to sort out time off. And it will be fun with a 1yo and a 2yo running around!

Piles - it was nelsons hypercal ointment that was recommend, I've just bought some and hoping it works.

Back from the mw, they are predicting baby is currently 5lb 10oz and if i make it full term baby will be 8lb 15oz Xmas Shock I've just instructed her she has to come in the next 3 weeks! I can't push out a baby that big! Dd was hard enough, she got stuck and was only 8lb 3oz.

Nanny hope he stays head down for you

OP posts:
GiraffeAHolic · 13/12/2011 10:33

My stretch marks seem to come and go depending on where baby is laying and some are left over from dd. TBH I don't think there's much anyone can do to prevent them (like someone said they're meant to be genetic)

Big pelvis problems in the night, I didn't sleep, just laid there all night trying not to move as the pain was awful. I slipped down a step on our driveway yesterday and must have pulled my already iffy pelvis.

Sorry about your holiday addicted :(

miamamaClaus09 · 13/12/2011 10:41

milly do you have a link for that scar serum?

Crosshair · 13/12/2011 10:42

Hope you start feeling better addicted and sorry about your holiday.

Im also working the 'attacked by a tiger' stretch mark look. :o

Is anyone else feeling really tired for no real reason? I mean Im sleeping fine but just feel wiped out all day. Confused

FrillyMilly · 13/12/2011 10:50

Oh no I just looked on boots website and it says it's not available!!

JingleFryn · 13/12/2011 10:52

giraffe - ouch, you poor thing. Obvious to say rest up, but do try!

worm they shut our entire hospital last year due to a norovirus outbreak. Hoping they won't do the same this year (although, as red knows, there's a better hospital 20 mins drive away which I presume we'd be redirected to, so maybe it wouldn't be so bad if they do!)

I think there's something in the age/stretch mark things. I have a load of stretch marks from puberty, but no new ones for DD and this time round either (I'm 38), and I'm only using Palmer's pregnancy over-priced cocoa butter. The Mamma Mio cream is divine, but stupidly stupidly expensive.

addicted what a shame about your holiday, but it does sound like the right thing to do all things considered.

sho I was thinking of getting DD a doll and buggy so she can have her own baby. Although during an advert for a Baby Annabel the other day she did say "I don't want one of those" which may mean a change of plan! mia I like the idea of DD picking something for the baby too - that'll be added to my list of things to do once I'm on mat leave.

And I yesterday joined the piles gang too! Hurrah. I shall get onto the Nelson's hypercal - I can't face bearing my bum to the doctor again, so hope it works!

ParsleyandChestnutStuffingLion · 13/12/2011 10:57

At least you know she's a nice healthy size addicted and that you are unlikely to go full term!

FrillyMilly · 13/12/2011 11:08

I think it may have been rebranded as this
Boots scar serum

The write up seems very similar to what was on the one I had. I don't know if you can use it when pregnant but I found I had good results when I used it after pregnancy. I think it's probably best to let everything calm down a bit anyway. I dont know if I can agree with the age thing. I'm 25 and never had any stretchmarks until pregnancy (probably because during puberty nothing grew that much) I've not done too bad. None on my belly except where I had it pierced but got them on my boobs and hips. Although this could be good genes as my mum doesn't have a single stretchmark!!

Mulledbee · 13/12/2011 11:12

Sorry to hear about your holiday addicted. It sounds like it would have been a worrying time to be away so you probably wouldn't had enjoyed it as much as you'd hope.

I am also joining the stretchmark gang!

I am going to pack the hospital bag today and have the first batch of baby clothes on. I discovered a baby setting on the washing machine - not quite sure what is different to the other settings but I've used it anyway.

All the tiny clothes are just so cute! :)
