I got curious and went to check my maternity notes and the last appointment says Ceph 5/5...hmmmm, the one before that said 4/5...argh, baby, do not move, stay put! I mean do move, but not up, down, down, downnnnnn!!!!!!

I can't remember who was saying what, brain is a mush but Xmas Sad addicted for the holiday being cancelled...

mulledbee I can't get over the size of the clothes either, just tooooo cute! I kept smiling and giggling like a lunatic putting the clothes on the dryer Xmas Blush

My foot must get better, I'm tire of having it up and not being able to walk anywhere, soooooo rubbish!!!!!!!

Ah, strech marks....better not talk about them, hey? They appeared in my 'boobies' on the second month! But glad they are still the same [fhmmm], I mean they haven't got bigger or worse...but I have got news ones last week at the top of my thighs.....................suppose I will have to suck it up! I will defo try the boots serum scar though!

I just had the last bra that actually fitted me try to disembowel me when the wire came through the casing :( :( :(

I cannot afford a new bra and I'm tired and hormonal so this is enough to push me over the edge and yes, I am crying because I have no bras to wear.

Crosshair · 13/12/2011 15:56

I ordered a pack of 2 nursing bra's from asda for £8.

addictediam · 13/12/2011 16:00

Makescakes that is why I will never have pets! I'm the sort of person who whilst watching marley and me thought they should have got rid of the dog Xmas Blush I don't have the same attitude as some about animals, but I know that about myself and would never get a pet as it would be very unfair on the animal.

Green 5/5 this is getting quite exciting! Will anyone POP before kitty?!

cakes Brew get a bit of fabric or binding tape and stitch it over the hole to keep the wire in. I've been there before and that holds better than stitches alone - the wire will just find a way through the stitching. It should at least hold until the nursing bras kick in.

addictediam · 13/12/2011 16:03

Oh no makescakes. Like ceosshair says asda is quite good if you have one with a maternity department near you? That's rubbish :(

makescakes Xmas Sad noooooo, don't be sad!!!

rednosedreindeerhead · 13/12/2011 16:12

i thought 5/5 meant fully engaged???? i might be wrong.....

GiraffeAHolic · 13/12/2011 16:13

Frilly I've packed a bikini top to wear in the birthing pool (fingers crossed) and will probably take a vest top to wear too.

Crosshair I have the £8 nursing bras from Asda, ordered them from the website, and they're actually not too bad.

As of last Tuesday I wasn't engaged at all, hoping things will have changed by my appointment Friday.

Crosshair · 13/12/2011 16:14

Yep 5/5 is fully engaged. :)

My best is a 4/5 so far!

GiraffeAHolic · 13/12/2011 16:15

Grin 5/5 is fully engaged

Crosshair · 13/12/2011 16:17

Cool.
I got a £15 one from debenhams and its poo, I was silly and didnt bother trying it on until dh took the tags off. Weird fit with sharp plastic edges. :(

ParsleyandChestnutStuffingLion · 13/12/2011 16:19

Green I was a bit worried about that as well which is why I wondered about what the "I" meant. My last appt said 3/5 but it doesn't feel as deep to me anymore (though maybe I just got used to it) and the sonographer didn't mention it. I wonder can they "unengage"?

Had to rescue the cat earlier Grin - I've got 2 boxes piled up in the other room and he tried to get down the small gap between the boxes and the wall. He must have realised half way down that there wasn't enough space for him so tried to abort but couldn't get out. I just heard panicky scrabbling and had to pull him out. He was very thankful and purry to start with but then got grumpy and nipped at me! Just as well I was in - not sure what he would have done otherwise. The boxes are too heavy to move.

I reckon we should just call the new thread: will anybody deliver before Father Christmas? 2 - the sequel

ParsleyandChestnutStuffingLion · 13/12/2011 16:22

I think the 5/5 either means fully engaged or not engaged depending on the MW. My 3/5 meant that 3/5 was unengaged and 2/5 was in. The inconsistency is a bit confusing tbh.

miamamaClaus09 · 13/12/2011 16:28

well we know some people will def deliver before Father Christmas...

addictediam · 13/12/2011 16:28

Parsle yes they can unengage, its not a problem, many 2nd, 3rd etc babies often don't engage until you go into labour. It actually isn't much of an indicator of imminent labour, but a good sign as it means its more difficult for baby to turn into a bad position

OP posts:
addictediam · 13/12/2011 16:31

Also 1/5 can mean 1/5 engaged or 1/5 palpable (meaning 4/5 engaged) diffrent mw write diffrent things but if baby isn't engaged they normally write free

I have written a rather chilly email to bravissimo, am hoping they will send me store credit so I can at least replace the damn thing at some point. In the meantime am going to have to expedite the buying of nursing bras, which I was hoping to leave until January when the budget had replenished itself.

Oh well, in the meantime I have dug out a very old, rather greying bra that I have no idea why I was keeping, but because it's so old and all the elastic has gone, it's actually a decentish fit and is definitely better than nothing.

GiraffeAHolic · 13/12/2011 16:33

yep googling just revealed that it depends whether the midwife is classing it as 5/5 engaged or 5/5 palpable

JingleFryn · 13/12/2011 16:56

Just back from our work Christmas lunch, and given the fact that I was just on water, I feel weirdly drunk! How does that work? Must be food drunk. That or drunk from the fumes of the lovely smelling wine everyone else was drinking. Sigh.

frilly and giraffe I didn't have a water birth last time, but surprised myself by going for the stark bollock naked option! (and I'm a serious prude). Everything just felt too restrictive and uncomfy - I also wanted skin to skin straight away, so trying to wrestle out of a t-shirt of anything didn't strike me as a good option. Although obviously a bikini top can hardly be considered clothes really!

MakesXmasCakesWhenStressed · 13/12/2011 17:04

Apparently being naked increases production of oxytocin which helps speed labour and help the bonding process, so if you want to be naked it's for a reason!

Oeisha · 13/12/2011 17:10

Ah cakes I hate it when bras do that. Hopefulyl bravissimo will come up trumps for you. I'm suicidally going into Mancs on 21st to get fitted. WIll be phoning ahead and booking an appointment though...

I'm opting for a water birth if poss, but am at most taking in a t-shirt style nightie. Probably will be nakked as it's not like I'll be arsed about any of it by then I would imagine (and the thought of trying to peel of a wet nightie when I have a baby to snuggle lots helps too). Just make sure any partners have tightish short if they're getting in with you...and that they're NOT nakked...last thing they want if a floater up their short-leg or a MW too afraid to come near you 'cos he's in the buff!

FrillyMilly · 13/12/2011 17:19

Dd (my first) didn't engage until labour and I had her at 39+6 so don't worry if baby isn't engaged. I'm 35 weeks and this baby isn't engaged either.

Last time I just had a big baggy t shirt on to give birth in. I didn't want anything tight on my skin so I could imagine ending up naked in the pool but will pack a bikini.

mulledfishandfrostedlilacs · 13/12/2011 17:49

Hiya all,

welcome missree

Shit afternoon-I had a meltdown at DD-i'm just so sick of her arguing, snapping and stroppiness. I'm afraid i banished her with the words "get in the lounge, shut the door and stay out of my sight until you can talk to me properly" screamed at her at the top of my voice. Not proud :(

she's 4 FFS-I am acting like she can rationalise all this. We have had weeks of this behaviour interspersed with a few golden days of gorgeous daughter in between. This latest run has been 5 days long. She's stroppy, shes manic, she's argumentative and snappy. I cannot get to the bottom of it-she says it's all to do with this boy at school, he's quite immature for his 4 years and drags her down, shes just so angry all the time. She tells me she doesn't want to be friend with this boy and yet her teacher says they are inseperable and get upset when they have to wrok with others-DD says this is not true and this boy keeps following her, saying naughty things and spitting on her. God only knows whats the truth, it can't be nothing because she's very truthful normally and wouldn't make this kind of stuff up.

Anyway rant over.
