Hopefully no one else has done it while my phone is messing about!

Hi! Checking in to the new thread. Sorry to hear that people are having issues with aches, pains and babies refusing to turn the right way.

I think mine is sideways at the moment. I know that they're usually on the right when they should be on the left. Apparently I have to do things like scrub floors to turn them the right way round - I thought pregnancy meant I could get out of those activities??

In other news I started my NCT class last week. It was good but a full day so was sooooo long. All the class seem really nice though which is the main reason for going. For those of you not going, don't worry, I didn't actually learn anything I hadn't read on mumsnet! My husband learnt a few new things though so that was good.

redheadbedhead · 29/11/2011 15:46

don't think they have addicted well done for getting on it. mmmm a lovely new thread, like freshly washed sheets Grin

well done on the thread title giraffe Grin

addictediam · 29/11/2011 15:48

I hope you don't mind the title, I changed santa to father Christmas as some of you don't like santa! :o

Shonno I'm used to being on crutches due to hms so am quite quick, but its just a pain in the backside all because bump is using my siatic nerve as a pillow :(

I can't remember what was being said at the end of the last thread. sorry. Not ignoring anyone, just really tired!

sorry moobee x-post. my NCT's are day-long things too, I'm kind of dreading them a bit now actually because I think I'm pretty well informed, and I already know a few people giving birth in the area....I guess my OH might learn something. although he is pretty well informed too....Hmm

guess it can't hurt to meet some new people and perhaps pick up some more tips!

redheadbedhead · 29/11/2011 15:49

x-posted with you as well addicted sorry!!!

GiraffeAHolic · 29/11/2011 16:07

Ooh Grin wonder if my baby will come under my thread title?

I feel like I'm getting a cold, all bunged up, yet runny nose and swollen glands. Eurgh!

Wormshuffler · 29/11/2011 16:09

I predict that as more people go on ML this thread will fill up very fast! I would be surprised if it makes 3 weeks!!

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 29/11/2011 16:19

hee hee @ what Worm said.

Gah - I'm being really maudlin today. I've written a letter to Dh detailing what I want at my funeral and telling him how much I love him, just in case something happens to me and I die. Cheerful, eh? But I don't see the point in sorting out life insurance, but not making sure he knows how much I love him - right?

Anyway, had a good weep and saved it in a folder. I suppose I should do one for my parents, sister and the baby too, huh? And some kind of will. Actually, right now I think i should just make dinner and stop being such a misery guts.

ghosteditor · 29/11/2011 16:24

cakes you big drama queen! I'm sure your DH knows how much you love him, after all, you bake him brownies, don't you?

Can't believe we got through the last thread so quickly - and with no signs at all of any babies appearing! Fx that we get to the next thread (at least at the current rate of consumption) so these babies can spend a bit more time growing...

shonnomanom · 29/11/2011 16:35

Hello shining new thread!
I doubt the reindeer will get to land on this thread. But that's no excuse not to hang up some tinsel and fairy lights to get in to the festive spirit

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 29/11/2011 16:45

ghost - I know I know, but at the very least I had to lay out which songs and readings to have at my funeral to guarantee everyone will cry best represent me :)

fishandlilacs · 29/11/2011 17:07

is there an emoticon for fairy lights?

:)

ghosteditor · 29/11/2011 17:27

Grin @ cakes

Now that didn't really work Blush

ParsleyLion1 · 29/11/2011 18:09

Ace shiny new thread :)

Can't remember who asked now - shon? (change thread and pregnancy brain can't cope with continuity...) Baby's head is not engaged but she did say it was very low down and that may well explain the bump movement.

OH is now convinced baby will be December rather than Jan 30 as she is moving into place - I hope not, I'd a) like to keep her in a bit longer b) I'm not ready and c) I'd like some M/L!

redheadbedhead · 29/11/2011 18:10

was that a xmas tree with lights giraffe??!! if so, it kind of worked!!

ParsleyLion1 · 29/11/2011 18:11

PS cakes if it's any consolation I made a list for OH this afternoon which included organising wills.

redheadbedhead · 29/11/2011 18:14

oh blimey all this talk of death!!!! i haven't really thought about that. is that me burying my head in the sand ...? or...

ParsleyLion1 · 29/11/2011 18:18

PPS fish I thought that it sounded iffy. It makes no sense tbh - you'd think if you are tall that your baby would have a tall gene so be bigger not smaller.

PPPS I promise no more PPs - I think I've remembered everything I wanted to say now...

ParsleyLion1 · 29/11/2011 18:20

I've no idea what made me think of it red I'm certainly not feeling morbid, I think it was just my responsibility gene kicking in - that and I saw a bit of Heirhunters the other day!

fishandlilacs · 29/11/2011 18:30

You know what I amsuddently filled with glee and excitement, this thread may well see the first baby.

In a daft mood, last tuesday at work has lifted my spirits considerably :)

Oeisha · 29/11/2011 18:32

Evening all!

I think we'll def. get through this thread before Xmas...and no babies will arrive...and it WILL NOT SNOW until June...watch me be proved wrong...

I was thinking about life insurance the other day cakes. I don't have a will either, but am totally happy for everything (well, I basically have nothing) to go to DH, and he knows I DO NOT want a Christian funeral at all (the default in the the UK is a Christian funeral BTW)...as do all my family...so well, I figured that'll suffice for now. My household insurance is due in Jan, so I will be asking for quotes for life insurance this week.

Shit, that's another thing to do...and another expense. BAH! Who needs to be in the black eh!?

Missed my antenatal class last week thanks to the contractions and hospital stay, so was all nervous about today's class. Turned up, so did most others...except the Health Visitor didn't...bloody typical. THe HV team knew about the class, and just "forgot" to find a relacement, or contact the MW team, or the Children's Centre and thus us. They've re-booked for next week, but some can't make it and frankly, why should we...and why should all the Dads take another afternoon off unpaid/lieu (a whole day for mine as MW appt is AM) just to be spouted a lod of inaccurate stats and blatant bollocks at by some not always well-meaning loony?!* Bloody incompetent.

*I've sat in a meeting where HVs were discussing stats over something, a virus I think. These figures (it was about 5 years ago) aren't exact but it was something along the lines of: There was a 0.01% of the virus being caught in 0-2y/o populous, BUT for 40% of the 0.01% it was a serious thing (implying 60% of the 0.01% got it, but were fine)...that could lead to various complications if not picked up quickly, and (easily) treated, something like 10% of the populous not treated promptly had "serious" complications, but as most were treated promptly it was ok! Instead of taking the "reassuring Mums it was thus, comparatively rare, very treatable, but to look out for it" approach, they were going with the "40% of babies were at risk of getting this thing and thus dying or at best having serious complications". I actually interejected at this point and told them they'd seriously misunderstood the statistics and walked them through it...as a guest speaker on a different topic. Don't think they liked me, especially not the head HV lady who was just purely angry..and my collegue who was highly embarrased...but seriously?! THAT stupid, not one of them spotted their initial error, let alone the rest of what they were suggesting?!

GiraffeAHolic · 29/11/2011 18:58

Yep red it looked great when I did it, bloody app has no preview option Smile

GiraffeAHolic · 29/11/2011 19:01

fish I have dd's nursery nativity on Thursday, both me and her keyworker (due 23/12) are hoping not to recreate the famous vicar of dibley scenario!
