Congratulations Millyv and Mrsshears on lovely scan news :) Hurray!

JJ My scan is also the 8th! :) 10.30am.

Seriously SC - Glad to see you back, glad all is fairly good :)

I ordered some maternity trousers and tops from Next as NOT one single pair of trousers fits now -- was happy to find a few tops were on sale too. Was a welcome surprise when checking out online.

I cooked a huge lunch for us all but am now ravenous after usual throwing up and am sending DH for junk healthy alternative for our tea/supper.

I have so little to say other than bleughhhhh....

Wave to everyone xx

Florin · 29/11/2011 19:01

I can't believe all these veggies turned meat eaters as I am the complete opposite. Used to be biggest meat eater ever living off blue steaks etc. now can't even think about red meat without wanting to thow up. Occasionally I can manage a little bit of chicken othertimes it makes me sick to so now virtually vegetarian which I never thought I would say! Really hoping I go back to my old self soon!

JjingleBeanplusPudalltheway · 29/11/2011 19:31

ecstatica mines 10.40! We could be seeing the wiggle at the same time!

I've got a leek and potato soup bubbling away in the slow cooker, my new best friend, decent hot food, minimal prep, no over powering smells, perfect for pregnancy imo!

I'm seriously craving chocolate, not normally a huge fan but I devoured a galaxy last night.

OP posts:
Florin · 29/11/2011 20:57

jj I have major craving for chocolate too normally don't eat it. Although my favourite thing is Rolo yogurts at the moment. I think baby may come out as an addict to them!
My scan is at midday on 7th I can't wait!

Kayzr · 29/11/2011 21:08

My scan is at 10.55 on the 7th. I can't wait!!

I'm currently eating a tub of Ben and Jerry's ice cream. It's so good Grin

PinkPepper · 29/11/2011 21:15

Envy 19th seems so so long away! least mines at 9am so won't be waiting about all day for it. :(

Glad to see everyone getting on well though :)

JjingleBeanplusPudalltheway · 29/11/2011 21:25

Quite a few of us for scans next week!

Florin I've been eating rolo yogurts too, dp brought himself some and I ate --all 4-- 1 of them. My sweet tooth when pregnant with dd had the opposite effect and she refused all fruit and yogurts when weaning prefering sweet potatoe and swede?

Kayzr Envy that is all.

pink time seems to move ridiculously slowly when waiting for something doesn't it? I'm wishing this week away to get to the 8th.

Evening everyone and bring on the glowing. Does anyone feel glowing yet? I definitely don't :)

Had my scan yesterday AND IT WAS FINE! I came out grinning like the cheshire cat then felt totally knackered. I think it was pure relief, after previous scan disappointments. So, so happy.

Warlin, I'd go with the advice listen to your body if you feel like eating meat. I've been a veggie since I was about 13 (and that's a lot of years now). I do eat fish now, but tried eating a bit of organic chicken and random pheasant in the early weeks of pregnancy. I wanted to at the time but now I really don't have a feeling for it. Anyway, I reckon its best to go with the flow.

Starlight, sorry to hear about the tribunal, that's pants. JJ, likewise about your neighbour's bizarre behaviour. Definitely not what you need.

Seriously, my brain also feels like it's packed its bags and is halfway to Blackpool. Dinner-plate-sized vits don't sound fun. I can't be arsed to take vit supplements myself. I'm hoping get what I need from food, but is that being negligent? Are others taking pregnacare and the like?

JjingleBeanplusPudalltheway · 29/11/2011 21:58

twiglet deffinatly no glowing here, a touch less zombie though so a mild improvement! So glad to hear your scan went well Grin

I have pregnacare vits as the nausea prevented anything remotely worthwhile being eaten but I'm useless and forget atleast every other day. was the same with ds and dd also.

Dalrymps · 30/11/2011 02:29

Think I've got a stomach bugSad either that or I've eaten something that's not quite right. Stomach is gurgling away and my guts are cramping. Sorry for the tmi but only liquid is coming out. I just wanna sleepSad

SeriouslyStrongCheddar · 30/11/2011 06:57

Morning all.

Twiglet - don't think you're negligent for hoping to get all your vits from food; sounds very sensible. My diet is just pretty bad at the moment!

Dalrymps - sorry to hear you've been feeling rough. Hope things are getting better.

Well, my new bed has been dispatched, so with the mattress arriving on Friday we might have everything set up at the weekend for a (hopefully) much more comfortable night's sleep! Ridiculously excited about a new bed - but have been after one for months.

Went round to see my friend who's about 21 weeks last night - she's really got quite a bump now; was much smaller when I saw her 10 days ago! Said she can feel baby turning over and things now. She gave me a tip about drinking orange juice before going for my scan - helps perk the baby up so it's more likely to be in the right position? Anyone else heard that at all? Was wondering if it was the sugar in it or something. Not a huge fan of orange juice but if it stops me being poked and proded too much, I'll give it a go!

Have a good day everyone.

Kayzr · 30/11/2011 07:05

Seriously I don't know about the orange juice but my letter says clear liquid only. But it does say you can drink squash so hopefully it means orange juice too. I hate having to drink so much water!

Darylmps I hope you're better soon.

Florin · 30/11/2011 07:42

My 12 week scan letter says nothing about drinking water. How much has everyone else been told to drink?
darylmps hope you feel better soon, I can sympathise i had the same a couple of weeks ago although think mine was brought on by my craving for clementines - I ate a whole bag in an evening-oops!
seriously hope bed arrives on time and you have a comfortable night soon

GloriaTheHighlyFlavouredLady · 30/11/2011 07:51

You need a full bladder so that the baby is pushed up when the monographer can see it. You need ti drink about a pint roughly an hour before (I find 45 is better so you're not in too much discomfort.

Kayzr · 30/11/2011 07:57

My letter says a pint and a half to be drunk an hour before.

Florin · 30/11/2011 08:02

How weird mine doesn't say anything. Went for a private scan at 10 weeks and they said it made no difference so was scanned with a near empty bladder may ring to double check as really don't want to drink all that water if I don't have to nor do I want to have to drink it in a panic when I get there!

Kayzr · 30/11/2011 08:05

My private scan said the same about having to drink at least a pint of water. It was the same with the 1st 2 pregnancies too.

I was told in my first pregnancy that they can't do the scan if you haven't drunk loads.

CaptainNemo · 30/11/2011 08:33

So weird that we get such different information! My hospital says if it's an early scan (before 12 weeks) then you should aim to have a pretty full bladder but specifically says a full bladder isn't necessary by 12 weeks. Tbh seeing as the nuchal can take a while I think with the state of my pelvic floor post DD a v full bladder would be a pretty risky option! Blush

SSC I hadn't heard about orange juice, but I have read the same thing On here before about chocolate, suspect it's a combination of the sugar plus the little bit of caffeine, but have RELIGIOUSLY stuck to it for every scan since, just to try to help the sonographer you understand! Wink Now I always have a chocolate bar in the car on the way to the hospital, gives me something to do to distract me from how scared I am!

My scan is tomorrow, v v nervous, please wish me luck ladies! Had some odd pains/cramps on monday evening which was a bit scary but yesterday morning my belly had suddenly popped out so am hoping that's what it was.... Hate this waiting business, am rubbish at it! Feels like we've all been pg for aaaages now!

Dalrymps so sorry to hear you've had such a dreadful night, the last thing you need at the moment Sad is there any way you can take it easy today?

Is anyone off work today because of the strike? I was going to take DD to soft play this morning but a friend's just pointed out it'll probably be rammed because all the schools are shut.... Hmmmm.... Too wet here to do much else though!

Hope everyone has a good day, good luck to anyone with a scan today!

Dalrymps · 30/11/2011 09:28

Morning ladiesSmile

Captain good luck for your scan tomorrow, I'm sure everything will be just one. I convinced myself something must be wrong as I can't be lucky enough to have 3 healthy pregnancies. Anyway all was fine so try not to worry.

Thanks for all the sympathies about my nighttime antics. Thankfully I only had to go to the toilet once and seemed to clear whatever it was in one go. I slept ok for the rest of the night but feel like I completely emptied my system so felt a bit drained this morning.

I have a theory that it's to do with my local
McDonald's. I've had similar 3 or 4 times over the last year and it's always when I've eaten something from there tamest contains lettuce. Strange I know but it's becoming too much of a coincidence to ignore nowHmm

CaptainNemo · 30/11/2011 09:37

Dalrymps not sure that does sound that strange, I had food poisoning once from eating the salad garnish that came with my meal, must have been that as there was a big group of us and we all had the same but I was the only one (stupid enough) to eat the garnish, serves me right for trying to be healthy! Glad you're feeling better though.

On a totally different topic, does anyone know how to stop an iPhone auto correcting things? Mine has decided that every time I write "as" I actually mean "A's" and it's driving me nuts!! It also corrects me to mr, also v v annoying.... Grrrr....

Kveta · 30/11/2011 09:54

hi everyone. Dalrymps, food poisoning from salad is fairly common see here for example. it may be worth ringing your local environmental health and asking for advice on whether to report it or not.

I am still very sick, spent half an hour bringing up bile this morning, so feel absolutely delightful now Hmm the nausea is just getting worse and worse. plus I'm another one with a somewhat weaker than before pelvic floor, so every time I throw up, I either have to be sitting on the loo (chucking in the sink or a bucket), or change my pants afterwards. It's so dignified... I am not enjoying this pg at all yet. plus chest infection seems to be back, so I feel wretched. will probably try and get a GP appt later in the week and see what they can do.

Dalrymps · 30/11/2011 10:29

Oh Kveta you really are in the wars aren't you. Hope the sickness eases soon and the dr can give you something to help with your chest.

I might just see about reporting McDonald's cause it's getting annoying now and I like to have one now and again but will have to stop going there if its gonna have this effect every time.

Captain apparently when the iPhone brings up the suggested word in the little box above what you're trying to type, if you don't want the suggestion you have to tap the x in that box every time and it eventually learns you don't want that correction. You do have to donut every time though as if you ignore it and just press space then it learns that you like using that suggestion iyswim. It is very annoying though, mine keeps making me write Zz instead off xx at the end of texts to dhHmm

Dalrymps · 30/11/2011 10:30

...And it just made me write donutGrin
