Morning all!

Well, mattress did not turn up yesterday Xmas Angry so I have two boxes of bed frame bits in the dining room and no point in constructing it as yet! Quite miffed as I used my last day of annual leave to be at home for the delivery. Hey ho, that's life. Will phone and shout at someone later since they weren't answering the phone last night!

Well, this is the third day when I only seem to feel nauseous when hungry rather than all the time. And...[whispers]...I seem to have energy again. Not sure the energy will last so not banking on it, but at the moment I plan to set about the bedroom and move some stuff out / tidy in general in preparation for whenever I get to build the new bed. DH seems rather Hmm about my sudden ability to function on a semi normal level!

So, from the change in nausea and the possible resurgence of energy I guess my little placenta must be starting to do it's thing....time for a placenta party! WineXmas BiscuitBrew[dancing] Woo hoo!

Have a great day everyone!

JjingleBeanplusPudalltheway · 03/12/2011 10:05

Grin roffle at placenta party Grin

Morning all

Sorry your mattress didn't show up ssc I hate deliveries with a passion I'd put money on the fact that I've never had one arrive when expected. I'm still smarting from my sofa "delivery" 4 yrs ago, holding a 6wk old ds, had a c-section and the dumped my new corner suite in the back garden and left I had to ring dp home from work who brough a gang --of dirty booted smeggy-- builders to help him. It started to rain just as they got there! Did I mention I hate deliveries? Rant over.

Morning all!

Glad all?s ok Nemo.

I know what you mean Florin. It does seem like getting pregnant was the easy part!

I think I am the same as you MillyV. My tiredness has been lifting which is great. I was beginning to get a bit depressed because I couldn?t do anything. Still get bouts of overwhelming tiredness but it?s not all the time now. I want to make the most of the newfound energy you?re supposed to get in the second Trimester so I can get loads done and then coast for the third. See you feel a bit the same, Cheddar. Hope you get your mattress soon!

ecstatica - poor you. I hope you survive the drive and birthday celebrations without too much boaking!

Congrats on the scan ceeej. Really exciting! Enjoy your Christmas dinner tonight.

Ooooh, toast? Lovely, thanks JJ. Will be lovely with my hot choc.

Excited ? getting nearer consultant appt (Tues) and scan, 9am Friday 9th Dec (same as you Cheddar!). Xmas Grin DH also pretty excited. Can?t wait to get that picture. I was really looking forward to announcing the good news to our family, but we told my Mum and DH?s Dad very early on as we were so excited, but seems neither of them can keep a secret as they?ve told the rest of the family, so it kind of takes the shine off it a bit. I?d love to tell my Mum the sex if we find out, but clearly she?s not going to keep that a secret either, so I don?t know if I will. Anyway, we?ve lots of friends to share the goods with so at least we still have that.

Have a lovely weekend everyone. Xmas Smile

SeriouslyStrongCheddar · 03/12/2011 18:30

Evening all!

Well, I've had the first practical day in weeks. Trouble is, I'm so knackered now I can't move off the sofa!

So, achievements today include...online Xmas shopping, arranging re-delivery of mattress next Saturday, chased an insurance claim (ironically the cheque then turned up in the post, which is nice!) and set about the bedroom like a mad woman, with the able assistance of DH. Half the bedroom is cleared, including my double wardrobe completely emptied, and loads of crap has been binned. The rest will be done tomorrow and then bed constructed next weekend when mattress has arrived (hopefully!).

As a result I'm knackered, rather wheezy (tidying always stirs up enough dust to aggravate my asthma) and feeling rather smug about all we've achieved! Not to say it didn't include some moments of light-headedness, nausea etc, but still - it's more than I've done in a long while. I have to say though - couldn't have done it without DH who has been an absolute star; when I started to flake out I just sat there and instructed while he did stuff. He's so wonderful.

Hope you've all had a good day.

PS - I've just remember that ages ago, someone asked where I got my chilli peanut butter and I forgot to reply and can't remember who asked! Anyway, if anyone's interested, it's from a company called Fire Foods - they have a website if you want to browse their stuff.

Florin · 03/12/2011 20:15

Blimey ssc you are making me feel guilty with all your activity. We are having a clear up day tomorrow so hoping we are as productive!
Today dh had to pop into work for 20 minutes to check on something so suggested I came up with him to London and we could have a really good look at prams. It took hours but we have chosen and now both knacked but both glad we agreed on it!

JjingleBeanplusPudalltheway · 03/12/2011 21:07

Ooh florin, what pram? I love pram shopping!

I had a day from hell, my dcs have been awful, bed at 6 and now I'm attempting not to vom as dp has the blardy coffee machine on again

Rrrrayray · 04/12/2011 00:00

Evening all.

Back home from trip to parents.

Florin - love prams... What did you decide on?

Cheddar- hat off to you for productive day!

Scan Monday 4pm. Almost there.

Putting tree & decs up tomorrow then off to Winchester Xmas market. Roll on all things Christmassy!

Novmama · 04/12/2011 09:27

Good morning everyone.

Haven't posted for a while now. Have just felt too ghastly and exhausted. However in the last day or so the nausea has lifted and I feel slightly better -not exactly energetic but an improvement. Will be 13 weeks tomorrow so hopefully this is it - 2nd trimester blooming here we come! Xmas Grin

Had scan middle of last week. All ok - sonographer found baby straight away - exactly right size for 12 weeks and all ok. Have 2 lovely pics - but sign of the times had to pay £5 for them - 3 years ago they were free! So that was the first hurdle. Then blood test as we opted for combined test due to my age (42 Xmas Shock. Finally after a 3 day wait - letter from hospital all ok. I've been assessed as low risk. Phew! EDD moved - now 9th June - will amend the list.

Someone was asking re drinking water before scan - not asked to and did not have any problems. Maybe it depends on the type of kit they are using?

So have told close family now. My dad nearly fainted but they are pleased! Dreading telling best friend who is partner/childless at same age as me.... But will get it done today. Sooner the better. Also need to tell work - unfortunately next time I see my line manager we will be driving on motorway together very early on Thursday morning. Best suggest a tea break rather than at the wheel as she has only just become my line manager (1st Dec).

Have stopped taking folic acid - was really struggling to get them down - but in Bounty pack was voucher for Pregnacare - should we be taking this? I thought at 12 weeks we could stop the folic acid. I am going to have to get an iron supplement as I'm anemic anyway. If anyone knows that would be great.

So glad everyone is starting to slowly feel better and perhaps we can start to relax a little. 1/3 of the way there!!! Enjoy the rest of the weekend.

10000fireflies · 04/12/2011 09:43

Morning all!

Congrats on the good scan and test results Novmama from a fellow oldie (also 42). Xmas Smile Am looking forward to getting mine done next Friday. I think you can stop folic acid at 12 weeks. I haven't decided yet how long to keep taking the Pregnacare for though.

Have a nice Sunday everyone. I'm actually looking forward to being able to get on with some chores with all this new found energy!

Florin · 04/12/2011 09:52

We think we are going to go for the bugaboo donkey. It's expensive but we have a few requirements. Obviously to be comfy for baby and wanted lie flat carrycot and also a seat that could face either way. My twin is also expecting 1st 3 weeks after me! So would like something both babies can fit in if one or other of us or our parents are looking after both babies. We also hope to have a second reasonably soon so needs to be ok for that and also ok for just one baby when 1st older and only 2nd in it. Dh does not like having to sell and rebuy things so donkey seemed to fit all requirements. Just expensive outlay in the first place! My parents have offered to buy the pushchair but won't expect them to pay for all of it so wil pay a percentage ourselves. Helps that dh just been given a load of John Lewis vouchers from work. So now we just need to choose red or blue!

CaptainNemo · 04/12/2011 10:00

Morning all Smile

Aside from being knackered from being awake since 5.30 worrying about my test results I have nothing to report - but that's good news in itself. We're going for lunch to a fab pub this aft with friends we went to Spain with in September, it'll be the first time we've all been together since we got back (6 adults 2 kids) so am really looking forward to seeing them all.

RrayRay good luck at the Christmas Market, I was in Winchester for acupuncture yesterday and it was absolutely RAMMED! we went last year and it was fab, despite the hideous crowds, so I really want to go again this year. Am working in Winchester tomorrow so am hoping if I have a wander down there late morning it might be a bit less crowded...

Novmamma Congrats on your scan and great blood results, that must be a huge relief to you. 42 is def NOT old, but the way some mw's talk you'd think you were half way to collecting your bus pass! I hope that hasn't been your experience.

Fireflies have you been taking pregnacare as well as colic acid? I thought pregnacare and similar were meant to contain everything we need? Though am rubbish at remembering to take anything most of the time...

Was intending to catch up with everyone but DH just gone to work and it seems DD has other ideas about how I should be spending my time so I'd better go... Hope everyone has a good day Smile

Miniangel · 04/12/2011 10:21

Morning all

SSC and Florin I am so Envy of you two being able to do clearing and pram shopping. I am still feeling too sick and tired to do anything but sit and feel sorry for myself. I hope we all get our energy back and stop feeling sick. Bring on the placenta party indeed.

Novmamma Congrats on the scan and the combined tests results.

Captainnemo Have a great lunch and don't worry too much about your test results.

Ecstatica How was the bday party and the drive?

We have our family friends coming over for lunch and both my Mum and DH are busy preparing. I wish I could help them little but feel too nauseous to get off the sofa. I am so ready for the glowing instead of the throwing.

SeriouslyStrongCheddar · 04/12/2011 10:32

Morning all!

Florin - we haven't even thought of prams yet. Wondering if we can get away with slings and a car seat for the first few weeks. The debate will continue!

Novmama - think our scan pictures will be £3 each according to the letter; and we have to pay in pound coins, so DH is trying to acquire as many coins as he can before Friday as we need four of them to go round various family!

fireflies - I'm also not sure what to do with the Pregnacare. Think I'll probably stop it after 12 weeks (well, at the end of this pack which will probably be around 13 weeks) along with the extra folic acid. I'm really not sure what to do with the Adcal though (calcium / vit d3) as not sure if I'm supposed to keep going with that. Guess I'd best ask the midwife or doc at some point. I'm seriously hoping I can stop the Adcal too as the delightful tutti frutti flavour twice a day is a serious low point in my day!

Nemo - hope you get your test results soon so you can stop worrying.

So, yesterday might have been productive but has resulted in me waking up feeling like I've done a major gym session! Lower back and hamstrings definitely know about all the bending and stretching. Ah well, feels kind of good to know I've done something. Still not sleeping well so very tired, but I think I'm kind of adapting to broken sleep gradually. Will attempt the rest of the bedroom tidy later today, but I'm less hopeful of getting it done today if I'm honest!

We did have some amusement earlier today - had a duvet cover hung over the bannisters drying after a wash and one of the cats managed to pull it off (they often do this to have something nice and comfy to sleep on) but then get inside it, right to the bottom, and got stuck Grin. Poor little thing's deaf so couldn't reassure him other than stroking him through the duvet cover while DH tried to unravel it enough to get him out. Another one of my cats did similar with a pair of all in in one jammies I have a few months back - he wriggled right to the foot of one leg then managed to fall down stairs in it while trying to get out. Fortunately, he wasn't hurt - we couldn't stop laughing though! Think it's just the elderly one of the three that is mature enough not to do this sort of thing!

Hope everyone has a good Sunday!

JjingleBeanplusPudalltheway · 04/12/2011 11:45

Good choice florin we had an icandy pear for ds and dd for similar reasons and I loved it, was very sad when they both grew out of it, had a p&t vibe after that which was great but dp made me sell it and I so wish I hadn't, just using a maclaren xt atm with a buggy board for ds.

Congrats novmamma

I'm also unsure what to do re vitamins fireflies I got pregnacare as I was struggling to eat then they made me sick so I've had them maybe 3 times a week which I feel terribly guilty for.

Anyway I must go I have a house full of grumpy and irritable people today, always the same on a sunday when I lie in.

KatyJ26 · 04/12/2011 20:22

Hi!
Didn't get round to posting properly in the end yesterday. I've been struck down by a sickness bug, courtesy of my DS, so Fri and sat were a wash out, but have had so much to do, I've been trying to catch up today! Have Christmas tree and decs up now, so feels lovely here I may not have many presents, or have managed to do a food shop today, but it's lovely in the frontroom!
I seem to look very pregnant all of a sudden -have had to start weraing maternity clothes already (I'm worried I'll be a blimp before I give birth Xmas Blush)
Am very jealous of evryone shopping for prams - I don't need to get anything for this one, which is kind of lovely, but a bit sad too.
I'm still taking my pregnacare vitamins, I took them right through with my DS and DD and feel obliged to with this one too! Plus, I'm veggie and do worry that I don't get enough through food alone, although I should probably chill out about it all!
SSCheddar - pity you feel you've done a gym session, but more excuse to eat I guess and not feel guilty
Miniangel - hope you enjoyed your Sunday lunch with no boffing!
And to all you other lovely ladies, I can't remember that far up the thread - sorry Blush
Enjoy your Sunday evening and here's to a good week xx

CaptainNemo · 04/12/2011 20:55

Evening ladies. Loving the big pram debate! We don't need to buy much but we'll get a buggy board for DD. We had a bugaboo cameleon for her (from my parents) which I loved as a pram, but once she got a bit older we needed something that could go off road (for dog walking rather than anything more ambitious!) We got a Jané Slalom (the 3 wheeled one) off eBay but it was absolutely immaculate and we both absolutely loved it. If we had our time again we'd probably just get a Jané from the start. The added advantage is that the car seat that comes with it (which we don't have) can be used as a lie flat one which is great when they're tiny as from memory the guidelines are that they shouldn't be in the sitting style ones for more than about 45mins because they're not good for their backs.
Just thought I'd mention it in case anyone who hasn't decided what they'd like yet thinks it would be worth a look. Having said that, I was DESPERATE for a bugaboo before we had DD that I don't thunk
I would have listened to anyone else's suggestions anyway Blush Grin

Hope everyone had a good Sunday and hope those still struggling with the nausea are surviving. Special non-pukey vibes to KatyJ and MiniAngel. Katy I've been in mat jeans for a while, have 2 mat tops and 2 other tops I can still wear and am basically just alternating. Am SOOOO bored of them but don't want to buy anything else until I have a clearer idea of how this pregnancy is likely to pan out...

SSC Grin about your cat, v funny!

millyv · 04/12/2011 21:55

Evening all! Hope it's been a good day for all, it's been productive for me, lounge rearranged, tree up and decorated, spare room sorted and cleaned and dinner cooked and eaten- currently in bed catching up with everyone!

I've really been fancying an iCandy peach but my best friend has just had a bugaboo chameleon and loves it.

Hope the sickness has been kind on everyone, my new symptom seems to be dizziness if I get up to quickly- really starting to annoy me now! Was quite worried as my boobs aren't tender anymore but DH managed to convince me I was panicking over nothing and that symptoms will come and go and change sling the way... Hoping he's right!

Off to sleep now, can't believe the weekend is over already!

Xx

JjingleBeanplusPudalltheway · 04/12/2011 23:03

Milly I had the icandy apple to pear and icandys customer service is the best I've experienced --pram tart, me, no-- my friends had a few issues with bugaboos, could just be bad luck though.

I'd love a peach but we just brought a mutsy so I'm getting all the extras for that, mainly swayed as it has a solid carrycot I can use as a crib. Therefore saving money in the long run, or so I tell dp Grin

Were currently in a huge name debate, basically I love noah, and dp loves luke, and neither of us will cave in... Good job I have another 28wks to nag him...

Aaraarggh 28wks left, that is scary

OP posts:
Florin · 04/12/2011 23:08

nemo ironically before we were sure about my twin being pregnant so wanting the option of a double I had my heart set on the Jane trider with the matrix light car seat. Only thing that has now put me off was there is no isofix base yet released for it and when we watched the video on how to put it into the car it looked a right pain, if I was only driving 5 minutes down the road to collect dh from the station it would drive me potty. Plus tried to see one somewhere over the weekend in London area and found it really tricky which worried me a little. From watching the video on kiddicare it does look a really good pram.

SeriouslyStrongCheddar · 05/12/2011 07:13

Morning all!

Well, yesterday turned out to be much less productive for me! Was absolutely knackered so just lay on the sofa dozing most of the afternoon. Ah well. Crap night's sleep last night as my back's bad from all of Saturday's efforts and I think I have a cold coming on. Normal service has been resumed this morning with regards to nausea - much retching over the kitchen sink before DH sent me into the lounge with a packet of Rich Teas and a cuppa Grin.

Last night we tried the 'dangle a ring over your stomach to find out if it's a boy or a girl' trick - according to that, it'll be twins; boy on the left, girl on the right Grin. Well, scan on Friday so not long to wait to see if the old wives tale works!

Hope everyone has a good day.

Rrrrayray · 05/12/2011 08:18

Novamama - so glad your scan went well.

Florin - I love the donkey too! You know you can get all sorts of different coloured hoods right? I saw someone in the woods near us pushing one the other day so they are obviously fairly decent off road too.

Nemo- market wasn't too mad as went later afternoon when most people leaving. Had lovely dinner after too. Curious where you had accupuncture? I had some last pregnancy. Love to do it again.

Katy- hope sickness bug passes soon!!!

Cheddar-funny about ring trick. It did work with DD for us. Haven't thought about doing this time.... Will have to try.

Waves to rest of you all!

Got horrid cold, and ear ache on one side

Taking DD to nursery this morning, not a day she goes but they have some visitng animals including a reindeer!

Scan later at 4. Nervous / excited!

ecstatica · 05/12/2011 08:54

Ceej - Great scan news!!! :) Yay!
SSC - You're simply not allowed to be in any other mode other than 'normal service' until I am also feeling that sudden surge of energy and new lease of life! :)
Florin - Lovely to hear about pram shop. Exciting stuff!
KatyJ26 - Sorry to hear you've not been feeling well. Good luck with your essay, hope you manage a bit more, room sounds lovely and cosy.
Miniangel - When are we going to start glowing eh?
1000 FF and Millyv - Hope you enjoyed a productive day!
RRay - Will pop in later to read your scan news, exciting!
Novmama - Good to hear from you and great to hear about scan :)
Apologies if anyone's name is not mentioned above, I scrolled back as far as Saturday. Hope I didn't miss you!

No news here. Still as sick as a parrot. Managed to throw up twice on way to ILs, didn't even make it into the services. Threw up at Ds's party despite the fact I was only nibbling but did manage out with our friends in the evening, wasn't best of company. Had Sunday dinner, modest helping and then promptly fell asleep like gramps in front of the telly Xmas Blush. Please send me some energy as the washing piles are now problematic!

I had the Jane with DS1, the lie back car seat was fab. Then I had a double Jane with the next one, then I added a buggy board with DS3 which totally did my back in. I will need a pram, no idea what kind -- absolutely no idea. Will possibly contemplate post 20 week scan.
Am worrying about 12 week scan on Thursday, no idea why. Can't get excited, probably too sick.

C u all later, DSs reading time x

Jubble · 05/12/2011 12:10

Hi all,

I had my 12 week scan on Friday, but had quite a hectic Saturday which wiped me out for Sunday which is why I'm only posting now.

Everything looks good, the nuchal pad is about 1.8mm, so fingers crossed there too, I've got to go for the triple test now, so I hope the results confirm that.

The nausea appears to have completely gone :) - I do feel for anyone who's still suffering, I hated it when I was nauseous all day!

The due date might be as early as June 10th based on the baby's measurements, but we're sticking with the 15th for now!

Kveta · 05/12/2011 12:25

Xmas Grin at all the pushchair talk already!! we have no idea what to do reagrding ours. We have a squalid 2nd hand maclaren, which I love, but which is for 3 months + and a Britax Vigour (also 2nd hand - I am Scottish and v. cheap) which is for 6 months +. We had a Graco travel system for DS and it was shockingly shite, so we sold the pushchair bit of it, but still have the car seat. I'm tempted to look for a 2nd hand double of some variety, as DS will be 2.8/2.9 months when we need it, so not totally trustworthy for long walks without a pushchair. We'll see, no need to decide yet.

still v. nauseous here. fingers crossed it buggers off before christmas, I was making* some gingerbread with DS at the weekend and kept nearly throwing up, which was a pain. I want to do so much festive baking and cooking, but not sure how much I'll manage! Not long to go now, either!!

*I say making, I mean cutting it out from some ready made saisnburys gingerbread dough, which I cannot recommend at all. it was so dry it was difficult to roll out, and it is pretty much tasteless once cooked.

ceeej · 05/12/2011 12:53

Yay Jubble always pleased to hear exciting scan news

Good luck to Rrrrayray and anyone else having there scan soon, looking forward to hearing from you later

I'm really interested in the pram chat, have been looking up all the options and it's great to hear what people actually find useful, only thing is we have a small flat with a lot of stairs so part of me is considering trying to get by with slings and a car seat for a bit.

JJ I suggested Noah but DH wasn't at all keen :( Luke is a lovely name too but you have a while to grind him down. I really like Liesl for a girl but the sound of music connection is probably a bit too strong. We've got a shortlist for boys and girls names but no clear favourites yet.

We've pretty much blitzed telling everyone now, all the grandparents are terribly excited and went off to start knitting straight away! Had a lovely Christmas lunch with DH's uni friends, most of them already have kids so I got a lot of advice and got to play with some of the babies. We're also the first of my friendship group to get pregnant so there's been quite a lot of squealing and excitement from that side.

Am so glad some people are starting to feel less nauseous and more energetic, there's hope for us all yet. I managed to get out for a run on Sunday but then had to have a lie down every few hours through the day afterwards. I've also suddenly got really dry itchy skin, I normally drink loads of squash but I just haven't fancied it much so I guess I'm a bit dehydrated. Hot ribena seems to be the only thing I want to drink right now so I'd better drink a lot of it!
