yeah I know the Shock is how I looked when I found out. We were only talking the other week about when would she start trying for no 3! she had no signs of pregnancy and had a cycle every month. I just fed up of being pregnant now, happy for her but also Envy that she beat me to it, to having a baby first lol

jomouse · 27/11/2011 16:30

Oh Kri5ty, I am v. v excited for you! This should mean fairly imminent, no?
I know the only sign you can count on is regular contractions but still...

Did it all come at once or was it just a bit (sorry if a bit personal but as fellow first timer I am eager to know).

Xiaoxiong · 27/11/2011 16:50

Darcies amazing she had no signs. I mean...given that I am totally exhausted and everything hurts when I walk/sleep/lie down...I would hate to think that it's just normal for your friend to feel this way. (Or am I an abject weakling)?

figgygal · 27/11/2011 16:53

On the DVD topics I've now borrowed mad men series 1-3 from friend last night so shall investigate that have realised now that i must watch far too much tv as so many sets that have been recommended I've watched.

Yay to the ladies with activity il admit im jealous I'm not due until 09th but have a horrible feeling I'm going to go late all of a sudden Sad oh and I've found another stretch Mark am thinking of changing creme the avent one I've been using obviously can't cope anymore.

kri5ty · 27/11/2011 16:53

Wow darcies how shocking! So glad both are doing well though, and hope they get over the shock!

jomouse it could still be 2 weeks or so away, but at least I know things are happening!! Don't worry ... I'm a sharing type of girl lol, sorry if Tmi but....
I went to the toilet and when I wiped it was a little slimey, so I thought it may have been the start (there was only a little, it looked just like discharge), then something felt strange and I went to the toilet again, and when I wiped it all came at once and was slightly brown. Sorry if I have grossed you out!!

DarciesmumandBump2 · 27/11/2011 16:58

Tyel she didn't have any aches or pains just a cold. was working on thursday evening at our local Tescos, so still lifting etc no weight gain or anything.

LittleMissHumbuggery · 27/11/2011 17:36

kri5ty there's a chance there might be some still lurking, there's normally a ribbon or two of blood through the plug, not a lot just a bit from the opening of the cervix.

Thing I can never understand about unknown pregnancies is how they don't feel the kicks. Even with an anterior placenta I'm feeling shedloads!

LittleMissHumbuggery · 27/11/2011 17:40

And those shedloads are making me think that the octopus is transverse! They're all in the left and right sides, pretty much at an even height, but heavier on one side than the other. Legs v arms? Talking cobblers? Not seeing a medical type until the 8th, but if still bemused then will ask them to try to divine a position. Got a scan the week after so may get a better idea then, though they assured me at the last one that all they do is check water volume and nothing actually to do with the baby

msbuggywinkle · 27/11/2011 18:07

LMH can you have a feel around for a head or bum?

darcies that is amazing!

I have just woken up from a nap, feel lots better now!

LittleMissHumbuggery · 27/11/2011 18:21

If I start poking, octopus gets feisty and pokes back! Will see if I can catch it when it's feeling quiet later:)

kri5ty · 27/11/2011 18:33

ooo thanks littlemiss will keep an eye out for the lurker!!

OiMissus · 27/11/2011 18:45

I am astounded by darcies' news!! How lucky to go thru 9 months without all these horrid symptoms! But such a bizarre surprise!
LMH good use of the word "defenestrating* - heard it on mastermind the other day. :)
fusam happy birthday for yesterday!! So sorry I missed it then. Hope you had a great day.
Kristy I am Envy that you've lost your plug. I want to lose my plug - closely followed by my waters msbuggy -pls send some of those vibes to me.
I have had some very strange twinges this evening, very low down, maybe the elephant baby is finally going to engage. Fingers crossed.
Oh and I really like the "once you pop, you just can't stop" title! I'm hoping it is predictive!
We're having a spicy Spanish chicken, chorizo and rice thing tonight (curtesy of DH). Grin

plupervert · 27/11/2011 19:10

Oh, but just think, Darcies, she's got such an excellent excuse not to have done her perineal massage and not to have been as impatient as we all are!

sevensevenseven · 27/11/2011 19:44

kristy great news on the mucus plug! I have a sleepy wrap, others on here have mentioned moby wraps but I think they're the same, I just went for the slightly cheaper one on Amazon.

Eva has lost her cord and had her first bath today. We're hoping to go out for the first time tomorrow afternoon or Tuesday.

kri5ty · 27/11/2011 20:06

Aww seven that's great! Good luck on your first outing with Eva :o

jomouse · 27/11/2011 20:16

seven that's amazing the cord has gone already! I bet time feels like its flying for the seven family!
Be really interested how you get on with the wraps, it's one of the few things outstanding here...

DarciesmumandBump2 · 27/11/2011 20:56

Seven hope Eva enjoys her walk.

Seen a piccy of baby Logan and he's gorgeous. Think once the shock is over Logan will settle in nicely Smile

aethelfleda · 27/11/2011 21:44

I have been royally pummelled all day.... But am mentally counting down to mat leave so don't really mind! Saw our friends who have a lovely 9week old, making me quite envious and excited all at the same time. It's their first, so have managed to pass on a few bits to declitter our heaving house too.

Glad things are going well, seven. can't wait to put my LO in our stretchy Moby wrap!

Xiaoxiong · 28/11/2011 05:08

Went to bed early in the hopes of getting some proper sleep but it just meant I woke up a bit earlier than usual - 3.45 instead of 4.45 Angry pretty sure there are only so many hours my left hip can take all this weight before I wake up in agony. Also am getting stabbing pains about halfway down below my navel - can't be contractions as they only last about 20 seconds, every 40 seconds or so. And not a cramping feeling, a real stab, like a knife.

Oh well, I can feel the babe moving every so often so will take some paracetamol and download something to read...

jomouse · 28/11/2011 05:19

Morning tyel, personal record of 2 hrs sleep and 8 trips to the loo. Ridiculous!
Seem to be falling into pattern of wanting to nap all day and get serious insomnia by night. However, not in too much pain.
Hope you are able to sleep some more. Your hip pain does NOT sound fun, or the unwelcome stabby pains. Are they sort of stitch like?

Xiaoxiong · 28/11/2011 06:00

Ugh that's even worse than me, sorry - Do you get that awful sinking feeling when you look at the clock hoping it will say 7.30 or something humane and in fact it says 3am?

Yes they are like a stitch running vertically down from my belly button (where a linea nigra would be, if I had one). Wish it was the start of something! To distract myself I just downloaded the secret garden - forgot how well-written a lot of older kids books are, one of the things I cannot wait to re-discover as this child grows up Smile

plupervert · 28/11/2011 06:22

"Good" morning!

Sorry you have been awake tonight: Tyelperion, those pains sound very sharp. Sad And that is an amazing ly awful number of loo trips, jomouse!

Not much sleep here, either, but that's not even motivated by particular pain, which is annoying - surely if I'm comfortable enough, I should be zonked?!

I'm now sitting here with a nice bowl of ReadyBrek with brown sugar, hoping today will go well. Just a preschool visit tomorrow, 38-week appointment tomorrow afternoon, then I can't be bothered to "do" anything else for as long as it takes for the baby to come. Something tells me it's going to be soon: my bosom seems to have swelled.

Xiaoxiong · 28/11/2011 06:42

Morning plu, I may get up and join you for breakfast - anything to distract me from my stupid bump. One consolation is the baby is firmly positioned with its back facing outwards, I can feel its bum front and centre!

No appt for me booked until 40+4 so I am hoping very much that I go into labour before that...inshallah!

Today's tasks: make ragu for the freezer, assemble homemade sausage rolls and cookie dough to roll out with the boys and make snowflake shaped cookies to hang on our little tree, and laundry. Realistically... Only one of those tasks will probably get done!!

Grr just realised I have lost the screw back for my earring for probably the 20th time over the last 10 years since my ex gave the earrings to me (said ex will be godfather to this baby, amazing to think we got together so long ago!) it's such a tiny bit of metal I never manage to find it and will have to go to Tiffanys again for a replacement. Was no hardship when we lived in west London and I could pop to sloane sq but such a PITA now.

plupervert · 28/11/2011 07:05

Good luck with the cooking!

Can't you order the earring back? It seems mad that you should have to trudge up to London for that. Or maybe your parents could go?

Good morning, all others!

Mmmmcheese · 28/11/2011 07:43

tyel ive had a pain like that on and off, really stops you in your tracks. I figured it was the baby engaging and sitting on nerves or something, thats what it felt like anyway.

Well, after all the optimal positioning ive been doing, LO is resolutely back to back and seems to have floated up a bit so no more pelvic pressure but the return of heartburn. Sounds silly but im panicking that there is some reason that she cant engage properly and keeps changing position eg cord around the neck or something.

Also, after weeks of feeling like the baby could come any minute, it now feels like its really far off and im going to go overdue so now worrying about induction! Not sure where all this anxiety has come from as had been feeling quite positive about it all.

Havent posted for a couple of days so wantednto add my congratulations to the cheeps!
