How did it get to 12.30!!

Oeisha after a disturbed night, dd not sleeping properly and having nightmares about giving birth on my own in the middle of the street in snow Confused I'm going to finish packing my hospital bag today and bumps will be done next week (i need to wash jer clothes first)

Fish I officially started mat leave Monday so am free whenever.

I'm so so tired today I just want to curl up and go back to bed. but I really should have a shower and get dressed while dd is sleeping

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 24/11/2011 13:12

ghost - great news about the maternity cover! Yay.
Can someone link me to those nappy samples? My brain has died.

fishandlilacs · 24/11/2011 14:44

her ya are cakey

Moobee · 24/11/2011 15:12

I've just had my 34 week appointment. On the notes it says presentation is 'ceph' and 'ROL' which I think means they're on their side, lying on my right and head down. It doesn't look ideal so I guess I better start some exercises to try and turn them. Hmmm.

ghost I'm only 33+4 so I imagine they'll try and assess the positioning.

redheadbedhead · 24/11/2011 17:07

oooh Oeisha you're having a rough old time aren't you Sad hope things get better soon. I feel very lucky, since my horrendous morning sickness and crazy rib pain I haven't really had much else except a bit of indigestion and crampy legs at night. Still don't like being pregnant, it's just a big ole worry most of the time isn't it? Can't wait for the piglet to come out now. I'm only 7 months yesterday so I feel quite behind, but I had one of my last teaching days today so it's getting more real....

it's a school i don't like very much and I haven't told them I'm leaving, so that my friend could get my job, and I am NEVER GOING BACK and very pleased about it. they can go screw themselves!!! Felt really weird leaving though, been there 6 years...

got one more day of teaching at a different school next week and another recording session and then I'm done! no more money for me until I sort my Maternity allowance out! can't wait. going to get a christmas tree next weekend and get all festive.

oh yeah, and pack my hospital bag and home birth box...obviously....

interesting about position of baby moobee, i keep wondering what way up the boy is. think he's mostly head down with his back on my left side and feet in my right ribs, but i really have no idea actually. so i guess the same as yours but on the opposite side. can't wait for my next apptmt to find out (not for bloody ages!!! 12th dec!!) it's not too bad is it? just needs a bit more turning to the front, but at least it's the right way up. Sorry to hear about someones possible breech further up thread - can't remember who now, is it shon? that must be a bit annoying and a worry although I guess if they're not engaged yet there's still loads of time for some somersaults...

redheadbedhead · 24/11/2011 17:11

oh my god I've just realised what else I was going to say on the subject of child centres after that thread kicked off last night fish.

I looked up my local one which is in the park 2 minutes walk away, wrote to them to ask about joining up and they said 'you've left it a bit late, normally people apply as soon as pregnancy is confirmed'!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and there's an 18month waiting list!!! Jesus Christ!!! I don't even have a child yet!!

i was shocked. and so it begins, the fight for places at nurseries and schools and universities..........

Moobee · 24/11/2011 17:40

red congratulations on finishing one of your last days! I have 6 days left. Most of those are meetings and I need to clear my desk. It all feels very final. We've not managed to get maternity cover yet which is a bit of a worry though.

The ROL position probably isn't so bad. Found this page which implies being on the left is better (but to be honest, I can't understand most of the page):

spinningbabies.com/baby-positions/all-positions/right-occiput-transverse

sho I've just noticed your mention of breech - the internet is a scary place isn't it? I think they have time to turn though.

Oeisha · 24/11/2011 17:45

Re: baby positions. They tend to not worry about baby's positions until about 34wks. Even after 34wks there's still plenty of time for transverse/breech babies to turn (as well as ceph babies as my SIL found out at 36+6). Then they'll start telling you to do exercises and tell you about elcs and turning baby and if POS (often indicated back-to-back) is on your notes, they'll be telling you about epi, ventouse, and forceps as it can be more painful.
Abi was breech for a while, and from her moves I think she is today, but she could just be transverse and tapping me with her hands and feet low down too. Not really wanting to poke too much as it friggin hurts, but she was Ceph left or right in hospital (I was giving her botty rubs with cocoa butter to keep myself amusedl). Usually a little bum surfaces at some point, but not so far today adding to my turned theory.

red looking for nurseries is something I'm meant to be doing this week...oops! Here's hoping I'm more mobile tomorrow. House is just in chaos and I'm so tired I can't be bothered. Will see how I feel tomorrow about it all.

redheadbedhead · 24/11/2011 17:52

what's ceph?

Oeisha · 24/11/2011 18:03

Cephalic presentation ...something like that. Head down.

redheadbedhead · 24/11/2011 18:07

so ceph is good right? as long as it's not back to back?

Oeisha · 24/11/2011 18:11

Yup, ceph is what they're looking for...but remember, there's still plenty of time for everything to change. Back to back babies are sometimes more difficult and sometimes more painful to deliver, but not always.

GiraffeAHolic · 24/11/2011 19:51

Midwife diagnosed rib flare, nothing she can do :(

Only relief is when I put my feet up but helpful baby has turned back to back so not meant to be putting feet up.

It's going to be a long 6 weeks.

redheadbedhead · 24/11/2011 19:56

oh giraffe Sad that's rubbish for you

redheadbedhead · 24/11/2011 19:56

get on that raspberry leaf tea/curries/pineapples, it might come out earlier than 6 weeks then!!

GiraffeAHolic · 24/11/2011 20:02

I can't, they won't let me home birth until 37 weeks at a push!!

GiraffeAHolic · 24/11/2011 20:05

Oh hell just realised that's only 3 weeks away Shock

fishandlilacs · 24/11/2011 20:21

giraffe yup i hear ya, it's horrid isn't it. Do you you get the tingly pins and needles sensation in your rib too? I found a ice pack alternated with a hot water bottle helps a lot-20 mins of each for about an hour and half. Codiene doesn't seem to touch it. i must confess i took the risk and took two ibuprofen the other day, I know youre not supposed to but I had to get through work at it was hurting like hell, they worked but really really trying not to do it again.

addicted I must confess to stalking you a little on the other place. I was having a nosy at your photo's and I think I recognise your husband. Do you make those beautiful cakes yourself? They are stunning.

red it was me i think with the little footling breech at last scan. I knew he had turned the night before because he was kicking me in the cervix really hard. But next day his feet were back doing percussion on my ribcage and it's stayed that way. I'm not worried. it makes my decision go one way or the other and although I have decided on vbac, my confidence is wavering.

fishandlilacs · 24/11/2011 20:47

just wanted to draw your attention to this thread ladies. Some lovely birth stories here

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 24/11/2011 20:56

Hey all - had to buy a baby bath as the free one I got off freecycle was mouldy and we couldn't get it clean. Thought you might be interested (if you haven't got one already) as it's only £12 and has 91 x 5* reviews.
baby bath here

Looks great for nervous new parents as you can do handsfree bathing! Huzzah

Just a heads up cos I luvs ya all

redheadbedhead · 24/11/2011 21:28

good thread fish love a good birth story or 10.

shonnomanom · 24/11/2011 21:28

greenlady Great news about the lack of GD

ghost My MW said yesterday not to worry too much at 34/40 about baby position as there is still plenty time for baby to turn. Having said that she changed her tune when she measured my bump and it was 4cm bigger than it should.
Yes red I did say that baby is breech, Iv just checked my notes and baby was Ceph at my 28/40 check up. Have also just noticed that the MW has noted that baby is 4/5 palpable. That would explain the extreme pressure iv been feeling down below. Baby is trying to squeeze its bum through my pelvis - nice.

giraffe Sorry to hear the MW cant help with your rib pain

Thank you cakes Iv just realised that I havent put towels in my bag... 'runs' to the linen cupboard

Iv got my sizing scan tomorrow afternoon. Really excited to be seeing baby again. Even though baby will be here in the flesh in just a few weeks eek!

addictediam · 24/11/2011 21:50

Fish where do you recognise dh from? It would seem from the other place you prefer to be behind the camera! :o I'm wondering if we've already met, or if you've met dh before? yes all the cakes are hand made and sold, I haven't done any for a very long time tho due to dd and pregnancy!

fishandlilacs · 24/11/2011 22:00

addicted I don't know he just seems familiar. We probably dont know him at all.
Yes i prefer to be behind the camera-being 8 st overweight i'm very uncomfortable about being in photo's, but there are some of them of me on there.

Oh shit-i'm in trouble. I have done something a bit silly. I freecycled that old pushchair I was given in the end. I had contacted my friend weeks ago to ask if she wanted it back, hadn't heard anything so assumed it was ok to get rid of. she was so delighted to get rid of it at the time I made the massive assumption that she would be glad to never see it again. But she now has another friend who wanted it and she has just texted on DH's phone to say she did want it back afterall. What the frick do I say now? It's long gone.

Mum2be79 · 24/11/2011 22:03
