hiya all, i am back from the holiday from hell!! and not i am not exaggerating!! we got to the apartment and it was that dirty, damp and smelly that we spent less than 30 minuites in it and booked ourselves into a proper hotel apatrment!!! it was so dodgy, it had brown stains on the waslls, i didnt even unpack anything as i didnt want to put things in the drawers. i made a fresh lot of bottles for violet and thought there is no way i am letting my kids stay here. everytime violet came through the door she started to cry which made it worse!! so chris took her for a walk and went to the hotel we usualyl stayed in to see how much it would be.

not sure if we will get our money back either, and to top it all off it rained every day. and hard rain, it was bouncing off the road!!

i am sooo glad to be backSmile

klou how you getting on? HUUUUGGGEE decision, but if thats what you feel is best then so be it. us formula mummies are all bad you knowGrin

(oh and they took my water off me for bottles at birmingham aorport, but not today at alicanteHmm)

how is everyone else??

KLou111 · 30/10/2011 18:37

Omg Liz that's shocking!!! Soooo sorry you didn't have a great time :(
What did u do feed wise if they took your water?? Tossers!!

All ok here, Euan seems a lot better, although knocked us all about a bit time wise today lol.
Which formula do you use? Did you use bottled water on hol?

MadKatz · 30/10/2011 19:06

KLou as long as you're all happy about the decision then that is what matters. There is no point putting yourself through the stress aas Euan will pick up on that. At least you can say you tried BF and that you're doing whats best for you and Euan. x

Well Sophie was sick again last night, like the other day, everywhere. Over her bed, our bed, all ovver me. ended up bathing her at 2am as it was all in her hair. Am I right to assume this could be related to the colic? A 2 1/2 clear up session and 3 loads of washing later and we're getting back to normal! [hhmm]

Iwish · 30/10/2011 19:23

klou we gave Joshua cow and gate a few times in hospital before my milk came in and twice at home and he seemed to like it. I bet you feel better now you have made the decision tho. Will you just leave your boobs and they will eventually dry up or will u need to express some to feel comfortable?
I'm sure he will get back into his routine v soon.
Oh yeh I saw that kit in mothercare the other day but I'd already bought scissors.

liz that sounds awful, you poor thing! Are you going to try and get your money back?

madkatz could be related to the colic. Could be that there is a bubble of wind and the milk is sat on top of it so when she burps up the bubble the feed comes with it too. Or it could be reflux. Is she in pain with it?

Hello melly ang gruff wherever you may be!

KLou111 · 30/10/2011 19:32

My mum said just leave my boobs iwish I'm to keep the bra I have on now, on, and leave it on tight, not get any water near my boobs or stimulate them in any way. She said it will hurt (happy birthday for me Tuesday lol!) but the more I touch them, the longer it will take. She did say though I have to be careful of mastitus, but there's nothing I can do about that. I could have dropped a feed every few days but tbh I just want to get it over and done with. Can't tell you how much happier I feel :)

KLou111 · 30/10/2011 19:33

Not sure about the sick madkatz, have you looked it up on the net? Poor Sophie :(

OP posts:
lizandlulu · 30/10/2011 20:31

klou i had to get the flasks refilled at a coffee shop, nothing too stressful, just extra hassle, and yes used bottled water while abroad.

iwish i am going to try to get our money back, but dont know really what rights i have seeing as we didnt stay at the apartment we was ment to be staying at in the first place.

madkatz violet went through a stage of being sick like that, no warning or anything, just loads of sick all over. i dont know if its colic related or just a phase they go through, lets hope it doesnt last tho heySmile

klou i hope your boobs dont take long to dry up, they must be agony for you.

lizandlulu · 30/10/2011 20:33

oh and i use cow and gate too, i looked at the ingredients list compared to aptamil and they were exactly the same but cow and gate sent me a free moo cow so i used themGrin

Iwish · 30/10/2011 22:00

Well hopefully they will settle down v soon for you klou. No playing with boobs when dtd then lol! Wink. And happy birthday for Tuesday!!

I hope you can get some of it back liz. Surely they can't say no if it was too discusting to stay in.

Going to physio tomorrow for my tear. Wonder what on earth a physio could do with a tear??!!

KLou111 · 31/10/2011 07:46

Strange iwish physio?

Well woke up drenched this morning lol, and boobs feel hard as rocks!! But Euan seems so much happier which us the best thing ever.
Went to bed at 7.15 cos of the clocks, woke 1.30am and 6. Must say bf in the night is easier as warming the bottle is taking me 10 or so mins, despite splitting his feed into 2 bottles so is quicker to warm. Am warming the 2nd while feeding the 1st. (Yes I am pre making them, which I know is not the current 'guidelines' but no doubt something will change again in the next 2 years, they change that often!!)
Anyway, can't find a MAM bottle warmer in this country which is a bit if a pain.

OP posts:
lizandlulu · 31/10/2011 09:29

klou i use flasks in the night, i boil the kettle and leave it to cool for about 4-5 mins then pour into flask. mine stays red hot for hours, so then you only have to make it up and cool it down which takes about 3-4 mins in cold water in jug. plus its a fresh feed so even better!

KLou111 · 31/10/2011 10:15

Sounds good Liz as I take a flask up to warm them anyway Lol. You read so much about who does what, you don't know what to do!

Hi all! Happy halloween! [hsmile]

Sorry not been on for ages my phone is being a twat.

Blimey liz that apartment sounds minging! Think i would've gone elsewhere too. Hope you do get your money back, hopefully you should as it wasn't fit for purpose was it?

klou i am actually rather jealous. Many times i've sat there at 3am fantasizing about stopping bfing. But got no chance, poppy won't take bottles at all!

iwish that does sound a bit random. Physio, for a tear? Maybe they have special excercises you can do or something? [hconfused]

madkatz how is sophie doing now? Anymore projectile vomiting? You must've been knackered after a cleaning sesh in the middle of the night!

We're going to a halloween party later! A friend is having it at her house, it's a 'babies 1st halloween party'. Poppy can now roll over all the way now, back to front to back to front to back to front! She did about 6 in a row last night!!

lizandlulu · 31/10/2011 13:25

iwish my sister in law had to have physio for a tear, i dont know what as shes not the kind to talk about it, but it must be what they do to make it better for youSmile

melly clever poppy!!!! bless her, does she love doing it?

klou i didnt use flasks with lulu, it didnt even occur to me, but this time round it is so much easier to do it this way. i like to make her feeds fresh when we are at home, just to cut down the risk of her getting bacteria in her feeds, but i take hot bottles with the powder seperate (my tommee tippee ones have handy little pots that keep the powder actually in the bottle but in a pot ifswim) and use insulated holders, but for a whole day out i use a small flask for hot water and a small flask for cold with ice cubes to cool it down

got to pick up lulus pirate cake later for her party, god my house is like a bomb site with washing all over and stuff not put away, feel like i am chasing my arse, only got time to come on here as i eat my dinner

KLou111 · 31/10/2011 17:04

Have fun Liz happy birthday to lulu :)
Don't get too stressed lol!

Well have had a very productive day. Have bought some new teatsl for bottles which are faster flowing, a milk powder dispenser, a bottle warmer bag thingy that holds 2 bottles, and 2 boxes of cow and gate for hungrier babies as I don't think the aptamil is enough for him. Might use it for a couple of feeds in the day til its gone.
Swear bf is so much easier lol!!!! But I do feel so much like I am enjoying Euan more already, despite the fact I can't hold him and my boobs are agony!!!!

OP posts:
lizandlulu · 31/10/2011 21:42

i agree klou breast feeding must be so much easier, and cheaper!! when i was packing for holiday i thought how much easier it would be to breast feed.

for what its worth i asked the hv about hungrier baby milk when i thought violt needed it, but she said its exactly the same as normal. aparently there was a test where women were given normal milk and hungrier milk for the babies and both turned out the same results. see how he gets on.

and thank you for the birthday wish for lulu, shes had a lovely day and a great party. i have not stopped all day but she liked it so worht it!

MadKatz · 01/11/2011 07:53

Ok, so quite glad these few days are over... and we are back from hospital... again Hmm

I started getting pains in my chest and back on Sunday night and got worse and worse over about an hour until I couldn't breathe, like a ring of pain all around my ribs. DH ended up rushing me to A&E with Sophie in tow. After Oxygen, all the normal obs, blood tests, xrays, they couldn't work out what was wrong but were very intent on giving me morphine for the pain to which I said no because of not being able to breast feed. So in the end they sent me home with pills and said see GP.

GP visit yesterday confirmed its gastritis and changed medication from A&E as not suitable while breastfeeding Confused

So because we were in hospital for so long Sophie ended up having some Aptamil from a cup until a MW came and helped me express some for her to have. But she's OK and will still take the breast which is what I was worried about.

My Mum and stepdad staying a couple of days to help out as DH had yesterday off but has to go back to work today.

Hope you're all well x

Iwish · 01/11/2011 11:16

Oh madkatz that's awful! How are you feeling now? Glad Sophie took the breast ok too. Bet that has put your mind at rest.

klou flippin eck you did go on a spending spree! How are your boobs today? Feeling any less sore?

Glad Lulus party went well liz, was it halloweeny?. How is violet?

Clever poppy!! melly did you enjoy your party? Was poppy dressed up? What did you dress up as?

Well my physio was interesting. The physio talked me through what and where the pelvic floor muscle is. What excercises to do and what my poos are like Shock I also have to do a wee and drink diary for 2 days so they know how much in ml I have drank and wee'd. Lovely. And the best bit is that I go back again in 2 weeks and they shove their fingers up my fanjo while I do pelvic floor excercises so they can see how good the muscle Is Shock Hmm

lizandlulu · 01/11/2011 14:05

happy birthday klou Thanks

oh my god madkatz how awful for you! i dont know what tht is but sounds awful. do you feel any better now?

iwish i am sorry but you made me lol!!! will you do anything for a cheap thrill GrinGrin Grin no sseriousley, the bit that would bother me would ba having to measure drink and wee! thats time comsuming!

melly did poppy like that party?

a few kids came dressed up and lulu wore her rapunzel dress, but she doesnt really like anything too scary. she had a pairate cake and it was amazing!! i will see if i can get pics on soon

Iwish · 01/11/2011 19:38

Haha liz glad I entertain you Grin. I suppose it's good that they check these things but still rather wierd I have to measure my pee etc. and that they check my fanjo.
Bless her dressed up as rapunzel, bet she looked so sweet. I'll have a nosey at your pics when you put them up. I'm going to put some pics of Joshua in his Halloween outfit when I can get on the computer (I'm on my phone).

Joshua has been a whinge bag all day. I'm not joking when I say the only time he's not crying is when he's feeding or sleeping, and maybe 2 hours all together while in his swing etc. it's wearing me down at the moment as I can't put him down.

MadKatz · 01/11/2011 19:45

Feeling better since starting the anti sickness drugs yesterday and finally being able to keep food and water down.

Happy Birthday Klou, hope you've had a good day.

OMG Iwish re the the physio!!

lizandlulu · 01/11/2011 20:17

iwish there must be something in the air today as violet has been the same, not letting me put her down. she didnt have much sleep today as she kept drifting off in my arms then waking as soon as i put her down. she must have only had an hour and a half at the most all day. so she was in bed early at about 7, fingers crossed she sleeps well tho.

madkatz i am glad your feeling better, must be awful, especially with your wound too. i cant imagine being sick and what that strain feels like on it. good to be on the mend thoSmile

lizandlulu · 01/11/2011 20:37

just uploaded a few pics

Iwish · 02/11/2011 14:51

How did violet sleep liz? That cake is fab! Did you have it made in a shop specially? Violet is so cute!

Glad you are feeling better madkatz how is Sophie getting on with feeding? Still ok?

How was your birthday klou?

Hi to melly and gruff

Well Joshua was fed at 8:30 ish and a quick top up at 9:30 then was up at 1:00 till 2:00 then woke at 3:30 as he had pee'd through all his clothes and up his back! Then woke at 7:25 so not bad really!! We are now on colief as infacol hasn't helped the colic.

Just uploading pic of Joshua in his Halloween outfit and just one of me and him.

lizandlulu · 02/11/2011 18:31

well she was asleep for 7.30 and woke at 1.30 for bottle and 5, but by the time i did a bottle shed gone back to sleep and didnt wake till 7.45!! best night ever for her, but not for me as the bloody dogs kept barking for no reason.

lulus birthday cake was made by a woman on facebook

got to be quick as just doing bath/bed but the apartment owner has offered me the deposit backHmm i have replied saying i was good enough to accept the changes so soon before leaving and expect full money back
