the baby has gone to bedHmm shes been asleep most of the day. she was awake from 7.45 to around 11.30 with a couple of naps inbetween, then i had to wake her at 2 as i thought this is ridiculous!!! then she went back to sleep when i fetched lulu at 3.30 and i put her to bed at 6.30 as she couldnt keep her eyes open. i do hope she sleeps like normal tonight. i hope shes just making up for lack of sleep yesterday.

hows everyone else?

how are you healing madkatz?

i am off to the cinema soonSmile

KLou111 · 03/11/2011 08:45

Hi all

Had a fab birthday thanks :) Euan was good as gold all day (and he pooed hurrah - his first on formula so was getting a bit worried). We went out for a meal in the evening and he started crying when we put him in the car and I said to Rob it was a bad idea and lets just stay in. He was having none of it. Got to the pub/restaurant around 7:30, left him in his car seat, and started crying after 15 mins, not loud, so Rob walked him around a bit, and we put his blanket on the bench seat, and hey presto, he slept! I don't think he likes being in the car seat too long as it's a bit restrictive. We don't make a habit of going out that late lol.
He then woke at 3am for a feed, then at 5:30 and wouldn't go back to sleep.
Last night was more or less the same, except he woke at 3, and didn't settle again til 4:20!! Not due to hunger, I just think he'd slept a bit too much in the day. Then woke at 6:45. Think he's still getting used to the switch.
Must say though, I am not minding as much getting up in the night as I used to. It's not as tiring.
I am doing the feeds the way you said liz with the flask, and cooling down etc. So much easier than heating them up! And like you said, they're fresh.

Have bought 2 formula pots now that are split into 3, one for 3oz of formula per section, and one with 6oz. Finding he only needs 3oz in the night.

Boobs are so much better, and have been since my birthday thank God! Still feeling a little harder than normal, but think my milk has nearly gone. Must admit I had a little squeeze last night and there was a tiny bit of clear stuff (like when it first comes in).

Liz your photos are so cute, loooove the cake. Glad Violet has been sleeping well. How was she last night in the end?
How was the cinema?

Iwish lol at the fanjo! Still find it slightly odd about the physio thing. I must admit though Blush I never did my pelvic floor exercises. I am sure I will pay for it one day!!
Joshua looks so bloody cute in the bat outfit!

Hope you're feeling better Madkatz :( not nice.

last night violet slept from 6.30 till 1.30, back to sleep till 6ish but only grizzled abit so left her till 7 for bottle, then back to sleep till 8!!! bloody brilliant! i was very dubious about putting her to bed that early, but seems she needed it.

lizandlulu · 03/11/2011 13:38

is anyone else losing hair since having a baby? i read that it can happen, but i didnt really notice a difference during pregnancy, but i am losing it by the pillow full!

iwish joshua looks so so lovely!

Iwish · 03/11/2011 17:27

Wow liz violet had a fab sleep. And lol at the Zumba making you sweaty! I went for a walk earlier and was quite sweaty when I got home!

Glad you had a good birthday kloi and glad your boobs are a bit better. How was your swimming?

Ok warning... Big rant and sulk alert...!!!

Joshua has practically been screaming for days. If he's asleep it's white but the mitre he's awake he just cries and doesn't shut up till he's back asleep.
Today I'm fed up, upset and frustrated. Joshua wakes up from his nap and is hungry so I put him to the breast with the shield on (I try to take it off when he's settled down to try and wean him off them) but recently he tries once to get it in his mouth and moves his head around madly so doesn't latch on then screams for about 10 minutes and i just have to try and calm him and eventually he latches on. It makes me so upset and I just want to cry. I don't know why he does it but it just makes me want to give in and buy bottles so I can just shove it in his mouth to stop him being upset.
He cries so hard that he almost goes purple. I feel so sorry for him and just want to sit here crying myself. I don't know why he does it either. :(

lizandlulu · 03/11/2011 18:41

oh poor you iwish i dont know how to help youSad does he calm down if hes on the move in pram?
does he take a bottle easier?

Iwish · 03/11/2011 19:14

It's ok liz I just needed to vent and get it off my chest. He does usually settle in the pram so was lovely and quiet whe we walked to the clinic this morning.
I'm not sure about the bottle as I stopped using them after he had his tongue clipped. I love breastfeeding him, watching him feed while he stares up at me with his gorgeous blue eyes but when he just screams it upsets me so badly. Just had a good old sob on DP.

lizandlulu · 03/11/2011 19:29

keep repeating to yourself 'its only a phase' it will pass and get easier.

Iwish · 03/11/2011 20:14

Thanks liz I need to drum that into myself. Sorry for the moan lol.
Hope you are doing ok today.

lizandlulu · 03/11/2011 20:46

moan away all you like, thants what we are here for. when i had lulu i used to sit in bed and cry cause she would wake in the night and not go back to sleep. i once nearly set fire to the lamp cause i put a muslin cloth on it to try and darken it to help her get back to sleep!

tomorrow will be a better daySmile

MadKatz · 03/11/2011 21:38

iwish that's exactly how Sophie is in the evening with her colic. Manic crying till she's so upset and out of breath, throwing her head around when I'm trying to latch her on Confused
Have taken to giving her 3 teaspoons of cooled boiled water before her evening feeds. Took her off the infacol as she was getting dreadful spots from the sugar. When she tastes the water it's almost like its telling her oooh food, food is on the way and she calms down for a few seconds enough time for me to get her latched on properly. she's still grizzly normally up to about 11pm/midnight but tonight after her earlier feed I didn't put her down just cuddled her until she found her own comfortable position on me to go to sleep. Ended up like that for an hour while we watched tv then I put her down....and she's still asleepSmile
Feeling better again today and gp is happy with progress since Monday.

Iwish · 03/11/2011 21:57

You do make me feel better ladies.

Thanks liz hope I wil write something positive tomorrow lol.

madkatx we gave up on the infacol too. The doc gas given us colief so I express a tiny bit of milk, mix in the colief and give him that before a feed. Hope it works.
Fab that Sophie is still sleeping now! Bet you are v impressed. And I'm so glad you are feeling better, good that the GP is happy with your progress too.

KLou111 · 03/11/2011 22:43

Omg iwish that's exactly what Euan has been doing occasionally for weeks!!! I was told by the nursery nurse that I wad perhaps overfeeding him Hmm I, like you, kept bursting into tears, like I wasn't enough. Eventually he latched on, but it was like I was forcing him.
It got to a point where he wouldn't latch on at all though and he kept waking frequently in the night, and because he's so big, he needed more than I could offer imo, hence I've switched. Keep at it hun, I gave up, but I may just not be as strong as some x

Glad all ok with you madkatz, fab with the sleeping :)

Well, swimming went fab. Euan still not very interested, more interested in the surroundings and lights etc, but he started kicking his legs today, rather than just lie there, which was fab.
He thrashed around in the bath, but not in the pool.

OP posts:
lizandlulu · 04/11/2011 13:12

glad you are getting better madkatz sit and cuddle sophie while you can, i dont think i did it enough with mine.

klou violet was the same on hol in the pool, more bothered about the lights and surroundings than the water. its probably just that its a really big space for them. violet loves a bath and kicks about but didnt look bothered in the pool.

its her christening on sunday. i decided in the end to let her wear lulu's dress. its 6-9 months tho so may be a tad big, but got pale pink cardi to go ontop and a white shawl from benidorm with pink ribbon around the edge to wrap round her, and got pink patent shoes.

shit, just realised i dont have any tights for her!!!!

KLou111 · 04/11/2011 13:39

Christening dress sounds gorgeous Liz can't wait to see the pics.

Rob doesn't want us to have a naming ceremony due to family. Basically anything we do, someone always sticks their two pence worth in. Our wedding plans were made really difficult because of family that we hardly ever see cos theyre from sunderland and lazy bastards that can't be arsed to drive to the midlands, told us that it was out of order we didn't invite children. It was our fucking wedding so for one day we were allowed to be selfish!! Anyway, my brothers were being pricks about things too, and since, and neither of us can stand them. So with that Rob has put his foot down cos no doubt someone will try and ruin it. Can't say I'm not gutted though :(

OP posts:
lizandlulu · 04/11/2011 14:50

family can be crap. when i had lulu donei tried to please the in laws and ended up asking what date was good for them and didnt get her done till she was 11 months old! (and the dress is still going to fit my 4 month oldHmm!)

this time i just said its on nov 6th and thats that.

i just got into trouble from chris for not inviting someone from works'kids to lulu party. she doesnt see alot of them and already had 22 kids invited so didnt bother, but chris thinks i was wrong for not asking them. you cant please everyone all the time tho!

i will take a pic of her on the day and put it on. i hope its mild as i am not planning on putting a coat on her, just the shawl

Iwish · 04/11/2011 16:47

Thanks klou. I'm going to try and carry on. It just seems that everything is trying to stop me, first tongue tie, then he wouldn't latch on so got the shields, then the colic and now this fussing while feeding. Would be nice for something to go right! And breathe lol!
Glad the swimming went good. What does he wear? Just a swimming nappy or one of those all in ones? I want to take Joshua after his jabs and fancy getting one of the all in ones.

Can't wait to see the christening pics liz I hope you have a fab day. And you are totally right, you can't please everyone so just do what's best for you.

Joshua still been whingy today but not quite as bad. His feeding has been ok tho (touches wood)

Going to get a few Christmas prezzies tomorrow I think. Also want to get some stockings - one that says Joshua, one saying mummy and one saying daddy. Might look on eBay. :)

WombOnTheBroom · 04/11/2011 20:54

Oh hello all! Sorry have been really busy with visitors etc. Klou happy (belated) birthday and Lulu too! Liz I hope the christening goes well. Outfit sounds lovely. Madkatz you poor thing with the colic. Hopefully the cooled water will keep working! Waves at Melly

Iwish so sorry you're having a rough time. Liz is right - the 'this will pass' chanting really can help. You're doing so well, pet. If you're having a rough time I can recommend the breastfeeding helplines - they've really helped me in the past - here they are:

All okay here - Flo is tip top - is waking at 4am for feeds now but quite glad actually as she needs the milk. She goes back to sleep fine so not bothered. DS, on the other hand has been a real challenge... 'This will pass...'

Have lovely weekends all!

lizandlulu · 06/11/2011 09:02

will let you know how it goesSmile

lizandlulu · 06/11/2011 19:00

well that was stressfull!!! the church part was lovely, she fell asleep not long into the service and only cried for a minuite when the vicar poured the water on her head, but back to sleep again. she had a little paddy when we got to the restaurant, screamed for about 5 mins then went to sleep for nearly 3 hours! had meal in peace, but god it was stressfull getting everyone sat down with families together. there was 2 seats in one place and 3 in another when i needed more altogether, but made people move up and manageGrin

will post pic on in a min, she looked so so beautiful

WombOnTheBroom · 07/11/2011 14:03

Hi Liz - glad it went well at the church and that you got to eat in peace. Family meals are always a nightmare (or is it just me?)...

KLou111 · 07/11/2011 16:11

Hi Liz glad all went well, Violet looks lovely bless her.

Euan has an all in one iwish, they recommended it cos of getting cold.

Well we have one knackered little man. My parents have been here since Fri aft and left thus morning. He is so tired cos he wasn't left alone at all from practically when he for up til bed. Got to a point last night I had to say something as he was so miserable and wouldn't settle. Also from the time they turned up my mum kept saying why you doing his or that, why don't you do this, and tried to change his routine as soon as they got here!! I am all for advice etc, but when you've got a baby due a split feed at 5/6.30 and mum said feed him fully at 6.30 instead, it didn't go down too well when he started screaming at 5!!
I just felt I was being picked on all weekend, and last night just burst into tears. I'm tired enough without being criticised. Afterall it was my mum that said all babies are different and said a few weeks ago said I had to be strict with people with regards his routine!!
Rob was not impressed I was in tears and said I was doing a great job, which my parents said after I was upset.
Damned if you do, damned if you don't!!

OP posts:
lizandlulu · 07/11/2011 20:41

hmm mothers hey!! mine used to give me advice when i didnt want it and when i asked for it she used to say 'well its up to you, do what you thinks best'!!!

my vi is teething, she keeps getting red hot cheeks and i can see a tiny white nub coming on the bottom!! blimey they start early thesedaysGrin

last night she went to bed at 6.30 but woke at 11, 2.30, 5.30 and 7. i hope she sleeps better tonight. i dont really know what to do, shes not crying in pain so dont really want to give her calpol and the tooth coming through is so so tiny i dont really want to put anything on it. last night i just kept offering her a bottle and she went back off again only to wake a few hours laterSad

KLou111 · 07/11/2011 22:23

Funnily enough Liz we were in the pub for a meal yesterday and a few peeps including us think Euan may be teething. We bought him some bonjela already but the landlady recommended some powder called Ashton and Parsons. Swore by it.
Can't see anything there yet though.
Hope Violet sleeps better tonight
