Congratulations pebble and gorgeous name!
Went to hospital last night, was monitored for ages and saw I was contracting. All great. But then a junior doctor told me i needed to stay in, start iv antibiotics and induction because it was over 24 hours since my waters broke. But as I hadn't had any, um, leaking all day they wanted to scan me to double check that my waters really HAD broken. All fine, but was suddenly very real and dh went off home to get bags etc.
I felt so frustrated because I wanted to wait overnight but obviously wanted to do whatever was being advised to keep the baby safe. So went ahead and had the canula put in (a big deal fir ne cos I hate needles).
Very soon after this, a more senior doctor turned up and scanned me, did 2 internals and concluded that it was very unlikely that my waters had broken!
So happy to be able to go home last night and it means that I can probably go to the birth centre when labour does start properly but was very annoyed that I'd allowed the other doctor to put the canula in before the scan. The midwife and senior doctor were both lovely and apologised profusely. Oh well, at least I've faced one of my big fears!
And my contractions are definitely stronger now so maybe in the next day or two I'll actually get around to popping a baby out! Was 1-2 cm dilated last night which made me feel v proud (naive first timer
)
Poor dh has had to explain to work that he isn't starting paternity leave today. Or "holiday" as he keeps calling it - hmm...
Hope everyone is ok and we'll have lots more babies by the end of the week!
