Elizabeth - my doc said at least 1 in 5 but she emphasised the AT LEAST! I supppose it is better to be prepared for these things but like you said it does subdue you a bit. She has said to go straight back if I get any bleeding but not to panic as not always a bad thing! I think once you get to 8 weeks the risks reduce a bit so I am concentrating on that first. I'm a very positive person but I am trying to be realistic at the same time!

elizabethtailored · 31/08/2011 12:01

I guess we cannot do anything more than eat all the right things and keep popping Pregnacare pills.

Tried decaff Nespresso yesterday and it was foul! Have already tried the Becks Blue alcohol free beer and that was a bit better. Any substitute for rare steak and red wine though?!

Well I read somewhere (might have been NHS site) that beef and lamb were ok to eat pink when they are in steak form as long as the outside is well cooked. My doctor said today that the official line is no alcohol but she thinks a couple of glasses of wine a week wouldn't hurt (if you wanted to-I can't say I feel like it at the moment!) and in fact she does enjoy the odd glass of wine and is pregnant herself. I am so confused about what I am supposed to or not supposed to be eating and drinking! I have taken to having both decaff tea and coffee while at work which aren't too bad and then can enjoy my first and last cup of tea of the day at home with the caffeine as then i'm inside the limits! Is the caffeine thing all the way through or just for first 12 weeks? I know that they link in to increase micarriage risk?

Hello! Got my bfp yesterday on a digital test! This will be my 1st dc! We have been ttc since September! Excited and now anxious! Getting cramps in the morning (but like period cramps) that are a bit scary. Boobs are killing me though and I'm obsessed with smells! I just wanna cry with joy everytime I think about it! (whilst also trying to stay calm and rational [hmmm]!)

2wwmadness · 31/08/2011 12:42

Just re read the whole thread. Glad the twinges are normal! I'm terribly bloated as well! I wear I high waisted pencil skirt and a jacket as my uniform in work (bright red!) so I don't know how I'm going to hide this! I'm due ( I estimate) may 7th.

Onlymydogunderstandsme · 31/08/2011 14:39

2ww - know how you feel about the excited and anxious thing, I have just been home for lunch so had a quick look at the 'congratulations pack' I was given this morning - never knew there was so much to think about which is exciting but nerve waracking!!!! I think reading the 'armotherapy in labour' leaflet might be a bit soon though!! :)

I am worried about the bloating too, all of my jeans etc all feel so tight I really hope it goes soon!

Onlymydogunderstandsme · 31/08/2011 14:41

Sorry 2WW I forgot to say congratulation! :o

elizabethtailored · 31/08/2011 16:09

Congrats 2ww!

Have been on ASOS maternity, Isabella Oliver and Topshop matenity sites - but just can't imagine having a massive bump. Boobs are also AGONY though! Bizarre as mine have always been non existent..

Congrats to all new comers. I'm crossing fingers 'til 12 weeks regarding miscarriage. I did take the morning after pill as we weren't really wanting a 3rd - well, I wasn't, DP just not yet. I don't want to mc though.
I've learnt from asking about a not very close friend's pregnancy that it's a good idea to know exactly who knows you're pregnant as if you do miscarry the last thing you want is wider friends asking you about your pregnancy.
I won't be buying anything or trying to picture the new baby until the first scan as I don't want to make things harder for myself.
I am still very optimistic though Grin

saggybaps · 31/08/2011 21:32

Hey all & welcome all new BFP's (by the way what does that stand for Bloody eFfing Positive! ???)

ElizabethT that's such a cute way to tell hubby!

Goodname We're due the same day!

I'm getting a little more excited - but will prob stay calm until 12 week scan. I still have these awful guilts regarding my precious number 1 DD, please tell me they'll fade.

Will tell DH Sun evening. We have a crazy few days ahead. Wish me luck.

2wwmadness · 01/09/2011 08:42

Big fat positive! I'm so amazed you can keep it a secret from him! I'm bloated and asleep by 9pm!

mythical · 01/09/2011 16:15

MyDaydream · 01/09/2011 17:39

CosmicMouse · 02/09/2011 09:06

I've been lurking on the April group, but if I summon up the bottle to go for a natural birth again...I imagine this baby will be born in May rather than April if it's big sister is anything to go by!

So hello from me.

Onlymydogunderstandsme · 02/09/2011 09:52

Big Hello and Congratulations to Cosmic and Mythical!

I'm finding the same with my boobs, I think thye feel bigger than they look but they are a fuller and nices shape than normal! I'm quite looking forwrd to having big boobs I think!!!

Onlymydogunderstandsme · 02/09/2011 09:52

Apologies for all the typos!!!!

2wwmadness · 02/09/2011 20:47

Ladies I'm scared. Are you getting period-like pains?!? Cramping?!?

myweeangel · 02/09/2011 20:47

Hi all,
So lovely to be on the antenatal forum, having been on the conception forum on and off for too long!
We got BFP on 29th Aug and I reckon due date will be 8th May-ish. So excited as we'd been trying for a year or so. Hubby over the moon too. This will be no 2 - we already have a DD who'll be 2 in Oct.
Congrats to everyone and looking forward to sharing the journey. Won't bore you all too much though - got my best friend too, who's due the week before me!
Onlymydogunderstands - nice to see you here. My boobs are already too big. And they're getting bigger. Dolly Parton eat your heart out...

myweeangel · 02/09/2011 20:48

2ww - yes but it's not as low down for me, it's more a twingey cramp than a dull cramp, which is what my periods are (if that makes sense?)
Don't be scared!

mythical · 02/09/2011 22:13

yes 2ww i've been having them on and off since i found out! not as bad as my period pains that are usually excruciating. i was told not to worry! x

FloydieDoydie · 03/09/2011 02:42

Hello all! I got my BFP yesterday and I still can't quite believe it Smile

I thought it would take much longer as I had polycystic ovaries when I was a teenager (now 32 and came off the pill after being on for 16 years), but hit the jackpot on cycle 2!

iPregant reckons I'm due 7th May, but this is all new to me as it's my first (although I have a DSD who is 14 mths, so have had a fair bit of mummy practice!). Should I see the doctor ASAP?

Am very nervous and keep kicker-checking, but hoping that my passenger holds on!

myweeangel · 03/09/2011 06:59

Lovely news FloydieDoydie!
Wishing you good luck on the pregnancy rollercoaster....
This is my second pregnancy and went to doc's early with no 1. Although she didn't do any further tests, I think she needed to see me to refer me to midwife. I'm due around 8th May I think, and have appointment to see my doc on 21st Sept. Early again although don't think there's a big panic as some people don't even realise they are pregnant until a few months in (how very unlike me, doing tests the very day there was a possibility it may have been a positive, however faint!!!)
Congrats to you anyhow. :)

2wwmadness · 03/09/2011 07:51

Thanks! They come and go. I just want to sleep till week 12! I'm glad it's normal. How's everyone feeling? I'm so tired and eat all the time!!! Bit of a sick feeling and odd boob twinges. If anything symptoms have settled a bit. except the exhaustion! Oh and need to wee all the time!!! Im 4 +6

hannah001 · 03/09/2011 08:00

I'm in - tested yesterday after 2 weeks of holidays including alcohol. Got home and realised I was late. Tested because my periods are erratic so not really expecting anything but thought better to be safe than to drink any more! Due 9-10th May.

HeidiHole · 03/09/2011 08:42

Hello! I'm a new groupie :) Got my BFP today but it's very early i'm only 3+4 at the moment! hopefully it's a sticky one and I'm here for the long haul!

Have zero symptoms at the moment so it doesn't feel that real, will be watching this thread with interest! A whole lotta new people to get to know. Don't recognise anyone from the conception boards... all the people on the 'trying for a May baby' who got a BFP must have wondered off!
