Here we are girls. I think we are all a bit shell-shocked at the moment, aren't we?

Thinking of you DHW and wishing life wasn't so cruel sometimes.

Marne, hope you're feeling better today. A bath and paracetemol on MWs advice did it for me.
Dp went out last night but with mobile as I was worried about going into labour and got completely ratted which pissed me off no end. He is still hungover and in bed - what if I had gone into labour?? Some birthing partner he would have been eh? I am not talking to him but think he is rather glad of this!
RP,fixing pains are apparently when the baby burrows down and and due to my 'relaxed muscles' (ie polite way of saying knackered!) you can feel it lots more after the first baby.
On the nappy subject my nappy bucket was 2 quid from the local bucket shop and is silver plastic with a lid. At first I had a really expensive one (God knows why!) with a hinged lid but the hinge went all rusty after about two weeks! Have ordered some muslins too in case of tiny bum arriving to use as nappies. I always use Cotton Bottoms outers (from Boots) which are great.

vickiyumyum · 18/02/2006 16:48

feeling much better today, still feel like a balloon thats about to pop, but apart from that fine. had my results from o/c and g/d blood tests and absolutley fine so no need to worry there! think we are ready now, am getting dh ot assemble the pram tomorrow, just to amke sure all parts are there and then he can dis-assmeble it again to store it in the wardrobe in the garage! i have just ordered my fmaily size box of moltex first size nappies, sorry girls not ready to go the whole hog with reusbals and so have compromise with proper organic biodegradable nappies, they look a bit gross though as they are kind of brown!!!!
only 2 weeks to go until the official march babies start to pop, its getting close, i can't wait until the announcements start coming in then i know that i haven't got long left.

off to have a nice soak in the bath in a minute as dh and i are going out for dinner, mum is coming to babysit and then off to town tomorrow for the last few bits and pieces, that aren't essential but i know will bug me if i don't get them oh and ds1 needs new school shoes. ooh and i pick up my new car on tuesday!! and then next weekend we are taking the kids to the local chinese restaurant as our final meal out as a family of four, hope i don't start blubbing, i can feel my eyes welling up just thinking about it. especially when ds2 (4) says to me 'mummy i won't be your baby anymore, i'll be a big brother won't i?' my baby all grown up!!
take care all of you and i look forward to the updates, mn is keeping me sane on my maternity leave.

Frizbetheexpansionset · 18/02/2006 17:08

Aww bless your ds vickiyy

Munz, nesting yep I guess so, or rather panicing that the midwife will think the house a tip! lol

RP that sounds like good news you could well be on your way!! have to say we're all gettting a bit dispondent on the feb thread, starting to watch march babies pop.....I've tidied up a bit of the garden today, which will hopefully help towards moving things a bit, and my birthing partner has come over to get drunk with dh and is stopping the night, so bound to have nothing happen now!

poppyh · 18/02/2006 17:26

Just got lucky with nappies.A lady has given me a load of cotton bottom wraps, liners, bucket and even nappy wash!Hope I get on ok with them. Am so pleased as I couldnt afford to buy any.
Back aches is so bad now.The pain is shooting down my backside and legs.Really had enough now!!Hope to hear someone dropping soon!!

Frizbetheexpansionset · 19/02/2006 11:59

At this rate Poppy it'll be you!! lots of backache sounds promising to me

poppyh · 19/02/2006 12:22

Friz, I think its just Sciatica
Im beginning to wish it was the start of labour cos im now really sick of being pg and want to hold my baby!!!
Also keep getting terrible heartburn,am falling apart!

coppertop · 19/02/2006 13:12

Just been catching up and was really getting my hopes up that there was going to be another March thread baby on the way. Good to hear from you too, Coathanger. xx

Best of luck for tomorrow morning, TIL.

Klara - Second time around was definitely a lot easier for me. It only lasted 6hrs (compared to 40 with ds1) and once the epidural was in I spent most of the time dozing off quite happily.

I had my extra appointment with the MW last week and she referred me for another growth scan as my FH had increased by 2cm in just one week. The head and legs are at the upper end of normal (but thankfully still normal!) but the baby's tummy is so big that it was literally off the charts. Greedy little so-and-so.

The not-so-good news is that the baby is now in a transverse position. I have to go back for another scan next week (at 36wks) and to see the consultant. The MW has warned me that if the baby stays in this position I will probably have to stay in hospital until the birth.

It's very uncomfortable. I can only get comfy either lying flat on one side or on all-fours. Still, the kitchen floor has never been cleaner.

Frizbetheexpansionset · 19/02/2006 13:33

Oh Coppertop, lets hope all that cleaning on all fours will move that baby the right way round!!

laundrylover · 19/02/2006 20:03

Ouch Coppertop!
Poppy good find with the nappy stuff - I was given all mine first time too - saves all the research and decision making!!
Vicky - I think Moltex look nicer than normal dizzies and they kind of smell all sugar puffy! We use them on weekends away when we can't be bothered washing clothies - used about 3 packs in two years!
Well today and last night I've had Braxton Hicks at the top and these fixing pains at the bottom of my bump! I've never been to the loo so much - am pooing for Britain!!!
Need it to stay in til next Weds so that I can do Tilly's birthday party and my homebirth kit and pool are here.....
Off to find pyjamas and a babygro and pack a little bag just in case though!

newgirl · 19/02/2006 20:17

Hi everyone

lots of aches and pains going on - it all sounds very promising!!!!

I have been given bambino mio nappies which seem ok - any tips on those? I've also got some disposables for the first few days in case I am a bit hopeless with them!

Coppertop - are you ok about maybe going into hospital? I had to think about that last week and I was really not happy about it - I guess it depends on how near you are to a hospital, because I am sure you can go in as soon as you feel labour coming on - staying in for a couple of weeks sounds very boring. My dd was tranverse and she turned during labour contractions.

so hurry up everyone and have those babies!!! I am getting very excited and can't wait to hear all the news!

laundrylover · 19/02/2006 20:29

Newgirl, think my nappies are BambinoMio - they are prefolds right? I've always got on with them and will be using them again this time as main nappies. Buy yourself some micro fibre cloths (cheap at Tescos) to use as boosters at night. I used dizzies at first last time but now I know how easy they are will go straight to cloth this time. Reckon there's enough to worry about at first without worrying about folding nappies eh? Give us a shout anytime though.

Astrophe · 19/02/2006 21:26

Hello folks...New to Mumsnet and thought I would say hi...My no.2 is due sometime between 5th and 10th of March. (hopefully before...I am enormous and I ACHE!) Its great reading all your messages and going "yeah..me too!"

laundrylover · 19/02/2006 21:53

Hi Astrophe and welcome to the thread of aches and groans! How old is your first?
Hey techy ladies how about a new thread now that births are imminent and a stats update? What do you think?

Klara · 20/02/2006 07:09

Laundry lover - what do you mean by fixing pains, as I have very sharp pain at the bottom of my bump - feels quite deep inside and is mostly felt when I lie down at night....was going to ask my midwife about it next week.

klara

Frizbetheexpansionset · 20/02/2006 08:31

Hi Apostrophe! go for it with the new thread ll, bound to get more busy on here now that the month is almost upon us
Anyone dropped over the weekend then??

munz · 20/02/2006 10:54

morning ppl!

LL - i'll do the new thread for u if u like- been meaning to do it all week now we've started popping! lol. how do u find the bambino's? I was going to use those but opted for the tots instead, but as i'll not be working f/t once bubba needs his size 2's I prob won't be able to afford the totss again, so looking for a cheaper alternative. trade u on the pooping - i'm ahem the other way, have been for the last two days as well - nothing seems to be moving in that region! (think the lactalouse is gonna have to come back out, althou I really didn't want to use it)

astrophe - ello, and welcome to our little world. i'll add u to the stats page as well (not that they're saved on the comp lol.) do u know flavour etc yet?

ng - we've got disposables for the first month to 5 weeks as with the parents etc visiting and getting into the swing of things I wanted the easy option! lol - might well use the tots in the evenings thou to see how we go to start with. DH is struggaling a bit with the liner and wrap - he's a perfectionist! lol.

ct - with any luck then the rest of the body will catch up to his tum! lol. def all 4's for u as well then good job no one can see us init! lol.

pop - did u go into labour in the end? that was sounding good.

marne - r u about today?

friz - I wouldn't worry bout ur house hon, the m/w is there to help u not inspect the contents of the hoover! lol.

glad u've all said ur nappy buckets are the cheaper one - I was gonna get a nice one from mothercare but have decided to go for a cheaper one from wilkos with a lid. where do u all keep them? I was thinking down stairs loo, but I don't want it to be the first thing ppl smell when they walk in the door! lol - so perhaps upstairs loo might be best?

poppyh · 20/02/2006 10:59

Hi everyone, NO I didnt go into labour!!
Just got bad back ache unforunately.
Got a midwife appointment at hospital tomorrow.Hoping they will still let me have section next Monday, but will still worry that they will put it off.Oh well, I will see tomorrow.
Still trying to work my nappies and liners out! They look massive!Going to use disposables like you Munz for 1st month.
Nothing else happening here except electricians doing the loft!!Got so much washing to do, wish my name was Laundry lover!!

munz · 20/02/2006 11:11

ok girls new thread is here

pop - I think we're all suffering form back pains, I think i over did the dogs walk yesterday - I went to the river and back with them both and could bearly walk for back ache the rest of the day - not to mention my ankles felt like snapping! - won't be doing that again in a hurry! lol.

apt with the m/w tomorrow to check water/BP, am hoping all's OK now, I've only got traces of protein but I think that and the whole swollen ankles thing they're keepin a closer eye. (just don't want them to say OK u have to go to hospital till u deliver now cos that would be true boredom! lol.
