Here we are girls. I think we are all a bit shell-shocked at the moment, aren't we?

Thinking of you DHW and wishing life wasn't so cruel sometimes.

ok back now - apparently my M/W has been replaced and no one thought to mention it! althou the m/w I have is a v v though one and I actually really liked her so hoping she'll be there for the birth. anyhow head's now 3/5 in, but apparently the chin isn't tucked up yet so back to all fours for me to get his chin in. today's m/w said yes bub's is a fair size - she's betting 7.5-8lb as well, def not 7 -7.5 so i'm happy with that. but we shall see. traces of protein again, and swollen ankles means she wants to see me on tues in stead of 2 weeks time just to check BP and urine. when is it u start having the home visits?? I'm still going to the centre and the drive's starting to get a bit much.

UniSarah · 16/02/2006 15:06

snow suits! eek, I hadn't even considered he might need one of those. BUT we do live in Devon and its def spring already here, with crocus and snowdrops up and flowering and daffs shooting up all over the place. Be needing to cut the grass again as soon as its dry enough to do so with out ploughing it!
Think I'll risk it with out a snowsuit, I have a pram and lots of babygrows and joggers and jumpers for him.
Carpenter is now hard at work in living room, rah.

laundrylover · 16/02/2006 15:08

I'm with you Munz, it's June til no coats weather up here! We still get snow in April!! The snow suits that open up all at the front are OK for putting them into and used mine most for out walking in pram.
RP glad your spd isn't too bad. You're right about doing nothing as it's weekends away that do it for me rather than staying home and taking it easy.
We are stuck on Zeb for a boy and like Maisie or Martha for a girl but not discussed it much really! Being a bit crap about everything this time and have only two shower curtains bought for the birth so far!

vickiyumyum · 16/02/2006 16:17

we have Lucy for a girl, lets hope the scan is right though as we do not have any names for boys! we did like george to begin with, but have now gone off it, we like the name jsut can't get it to sound right with middle and surnames, i have no idea what we would call him. whereas for girls if it wasn't Lucy it would be Freya or Darcy

Marne · 16/02/2006 18:28

Just got back from my scan, last week the midwife thought the baby was small, turns out she's not small at all, shes a good size so nothing to wory about. Now i'm worried about having a big baby!

vickiyumyum · 16/02/2006 19:21

went tot he drop in m/w clinic this morning to get my bloods done ready for my appt next tuesday, and started of a whole long saga!

went to also get my bloods redone for my itching as the last results for o/c and g/d were inconclusive!!!(in other words someone at the lab messed up), and m/w said might as well do a full check while i was there. my bp was fine, but i had protein and lots of sugar in my wee, i was itching constantly while sat there and so she said she wanted to get em checked out at consultant clinic next week, and then she listened into baby and its heartbeat was 169-184bpm, which is too high, so she sent me straight down to day assessment who plugged me into a ctg for half an hour on my back! baby was fine heartbeat was about 140bpm which is good and average for this one. they took my bloods for the o/c and my 36 wk bloods, but they had left it too long to do my g/d bloods, i was really cross as had to have a special breakfast, and had reminded them when i first went up that it was almost 2 hours since my breakfast and to do my blood! so now i have to redo that one next week.
they sent me home telling me all was fine and then when i get home dh is there and says a m/w called and you have tog o and see the consultant next wed! i asked why and he said he didn't ask (men!!), so i rand day assessment and they weren't sure either it must have been the oriogional m/w who made the appt, and just to keep it in case, and hey ho you'll prob get another scan anyway!!!! they seemed to think it was abig joke, because i work there it was ll like oh vicki don't worry just coem in, what else have you got ot do? if youre bored you can always come and help out!!!! aaaaggghhhhh!

sorry rant over but have been stewing over this for a few hours now and am disappointed that my level of car has not been that they would give to another woman, and to top it off was told that they would ring with myo/c results and they haven't, am tempted to go in and look them up on the computer myself!

i have three appts now for next week, so much for relaxing!

Toothyboy · 16/02/2006 20:27

Hi everyone - I've not been around for ages I know, but I still look in to see how you're all doing! Haven't caught up this evening yet, but just thought I'd let you all know I'm booked in for a c-section 9am Monday morning!! Will I be the first?

I had an appt today, and the consultant decided that as my baby is still very small it'll be better out than in. So fingers crossed that it's OK and just needs feeding up. He said that if all is OK and the baby feeds OK I could be out on Wednesday, which would be good as we're moving house next Friday!!! Had hoped we'd be settled in the new house before baby arrived, but hey ho, that's life!

Anyway, don't know when I'll be able to get back on here to let you know how it went and to check on how you're all doing, but best of luck to everyone else who, knowingly or not, is going to be meeting their bump over the next couple of weeks!

Frizbetheexpansionset · 16/02/2006 23:27

Wow toothy! c-sect on monday eh, congrats must be nice to have a date!! You've been beaten into 1st place by Jangus tho......and TIL, RP and I are currently vieing for 2nd place, although you'll probably beat us all!!

TIL we've choosen Neve for a girl, boy will remain nameless for some time!

Jackstini, soz re your painful braxtons you have my sympathies there....glad you finish work soon tho, bet that will be nice

Vickiyy, sorry your not seeming to get as good care cause you work at hosp, bit pants really, its as if they're expecting you to care for yourself, as you 'know' what should be happening...hope it gets better soon

Munz, home visits here are for those who book homebirths only, otherwise its off to the GP's all the way.....re dropping? erm, well more waddling, lowdown pains a lot and I have seemed to develop less of a shelf at the top, as bumps moved down, more space under boobs, lol

vickiyumyum · 17/02/2006 10:08

exactly my thoughts frizbee, its as if they expect me to do it all as i should know. next they'll be leaving me to make my own bed and do my own checks (actually don't mind about the checks as that is the one bit i am dreading, having someone i know check my scar and my blood loss, so hopefully they will take my word for that!)

glad everyone else is doing sso well, can't wait for the birth announcements to start.

newgirl · 17/02/2006 15:59

wow toothboy!!! Good luck for mon 9am - how fantastic! Take care of yourself x

poppyh · 17/02/2006 17:47

Toothy, lucky you!If I was you Id spend the whole weekend sleeping and bathing in luxury products!!

Jackstini · 17/02/2006 17:54

Toothy - all the best for Monday - how exciting!! Not cracking timing moving 4 days after a C-section but you will be so happy with new baby you won't care!
VYY - not surprised you are frustrated, it doesn't sound very fair. Hope you get more answers next week and feel a bit more relaxed then.
TIL - we are on Joshua Cal & Scarlett Anne at the moment.
RP - lol at all the rumpy pumpy going off in your house - baby or not dh must be loving it!
Munz - could be a nice big bubba then... No problem with leaving the naming - just see what he looks like when he comes out!
All this talk of snowsuits have not ev Might en thought about it although will hold off until I know whether to buy pink & it might be a bit warmer by the time it pops out..!

totallyinlove · 17/02/2006 19:18

hi ladies.

good luck toothy!! am terribly jealous! lol

you've all picked some lovely names!!

right am off for probably a totally uneventful fat and fed up weekend! I expect some birth announcements on monday morning ladies!! hehe

munz · 17/02/2006 19:47

marne - join the club hon! lol we'll ahve the biggies!

VYY - how rude! just cos u work there! they'll have u deliving someone else half hour after you've dellivered urself at that rate! lol.

toothy - woohoo u'll be our second c section! I guess I'd best get on with the stat and up date everything properly now we're kicking off! not long to go now!

friz - I do like neve for a little girl. lol@ top shelf! lol, m/w recons my bump's still high cos of LO's position - don't know how she could tell his chin wasn't tucked in properly - but I gues she knows best. (can't get motivated on all fours thou - leaning over the tabel instead! lol)

jack - that's what we're gonna do yes! i'm hoping he's not bigger than 8lb. that's a nice size I think - a fiar size anyhow! lol. DH is more intrested on the size of other things I think! lol - typical man!

TIL - well mine's gonna be the same as urs hon! I think at this rate this LO's still gonna be in there in 3 weeks time never mind 2 weeks time! lol.

2 weeks till the official date and counting! althou no movements as such M/W said at 40 weeks they'll do a sweep.

Toothyboy · 17/02/2006 20:03

Thanks for all your kind words - I can't believe you're all jealous - I'm crapping myself!!! I really wanted to avoid another c-section this time cos I'm so squeamish about operations and "unnatural" procedures, and also dreading the recovery time with an almost 3yr old!

Anyway, you never know, some of you may go into labour over the w/e and beat me to it! Go on, be honest, how many of you are having curry tonight?

laundrylover · 17/02/2006 20:03

Am feeling sorry for myself as been up all last night and groaning all today with horrible 'period pains' if you know what I mean. If I was 38 weeks I'd be thinking hurray but at nearly 36 it's not so good! Midwife says they are fixing pains which you get with your second - I say they are bloody awful and can they really last for 4 weeks or more??
Just checked on hoping for a birth announcement to cheer me up so come on ladies.
Off for a bath...

UniSarah · 17/02/2006 20:04

smpathy vicki. I too spent part of the morning at antenatal assesment plugged up to a monitor. My own fault as I was being paranoid i think. Pip decided not to do his usual acrobatics display yesterday evening,or in the middle of the night, or in the morning, all times when hes normally V active. So as I'd not been feeling great yesterday either i rang the hospital and asked to be checked over. Of course the little tinker waited til the monitor was in place and then thumped it.
Ho Hum, still the MWs were very nice about it all, and reasured me that it OK to be worried by a change to his normal activity level.
This afternoon was much more relaxed, I went and had a full body massage, bliss. So nice to be pampered and so nice to lie on my front for the first time in months, as the therapist has a massage table with removeable bits for bump and boobs. Will do that again next week if I'm still pg.
Pips first batch of Nappies arrived from the nappy lady- yea. Bimbles are sooooo cute , just like a Bumble but tiny. They make the motherease one size look ginormous. We going to try out all three in the early days and then decide how many of what to get.
Good luck with the C section on monday toothy, and good luck to any others who pop over the w/end.
UniSarah

laundrylover · 17/02/2006 20:16

ooh Sarah, talk of little nappies cheers me up! I just ordered a couple of Bamboozles and Fluffles from Twinkle to try out although I know my prefolds will do the job these ones are so cute!
I was tempted to go to hospital today too but when I phoned they were really busy so glad I didn't bother or would have been strapped to a monitor and ignored for hours!

Frizbetheexpansionset · 17/02/2006 20:44

LL fixing pains eh! I'll have to remind myself of that one.....ouch!

UniSarah glad all ok with pip! massage sounds heavenly, oh how I wish!

Well have tried to clean lots of things in hope of shifting bump today, car, path, hall, kitchen, living room....so far no signs of owt just a trapped back/leg nerve, pah!

Hope everyone has a good weekend

Marne · 18/02/2006 09:46

Good morning all,

LL, i had pains all day yestaday, im only 36 weeks, my tummy felt rock hard all day, realy want her to come out now.

Cant believe most of you are all most there, its not fair , feeling realy down at the moment, time is going so slow, i just want to hold my baby. Cant seem to get any sleep, my legs ache and dd keeps me up most of the night ( she was in my bed at 4am singing the wheels on the bus).

Toothy, good luck monday, we will all be thinking of you.

Frizbetheexpansionset · 18/02/2006 09:59

4am, oh Marne you have my sympathies there! if its any help doesn't feel like I'm nearly anywhere today!

munz · 18/02/2006 10:14

marne - sympathies here hon as well, mine's been rock hard for some 2/3 weeks as well - v uncomfortable, a soak in the bath helps - but don't know about u i'm finding it hard to sit in there and function properly! fingers crossed won't be long and u'll have your LO to hold. i'm holding on to the fact at least inside he's quiet!

friz - bit of nesting going on there hon?

LL - ooh snap we've brought the same! and i've got a couple of the mother ease wraps. not sure what to go for for my size 2's yet (hopefully these size one's will last the LO till about 5/6 months - if we're lucky! lol)

uni - u'll have to let us know about the bimble/bumbles. ghlad ur LO is ok as well after the scare.

tb - can't stand curry so none for me! no sex either as DH is working 8am till 9pm till tuesday, hopefulyl thou he'll get weds till mon off. (fingers crossed) gone off the rasp tea - gonna get the tablets next week.

friz - have u heard from rom since her acupuncha apt?? maybe that's got things moving for her??? fingers crossed. if it has i'll def be going for a session on friday! lol.

well nothing going on here, don't think it's gonna yet either, LO's limbs are still all out front apparently we're back to back as it were - any ideas on turning him back? - he's been with bum to the side until last week. just done tesco.com to come on friday so any time after then's fine as we'll have food! lol.

UniSarah · 18/02/2006 12:04

I liked the look of the Bamboozels and was interested in them being made from such a re-newable resourse, they feel lovely to the touch. Personally I didn't like the feel of the fluffles, but fabric feel is a very personal thing.

Bumbles/Bimbles have a terry layer and a flease layer,in between the two layers is a pocket into which one can either put a pop in booster or anything else to act as a booster ( ie folded terry square). They need nappy nippas or pins as are not poppered like Motherease.
On the smaller Bimble the booster is built in ( an extension of the terry layer), and just folds into or out of the pocket, so you can put more at the front for a boy or go right back for a girl. For washing pull the booster out and it drys quicker.
As we don't have a tumble dryer dryingtime is important to us .They are british made which is something we are keen on. We will be using Motherease wraps tho as I found a couple of unused airflow wraps for 25p each in a charity shop!

Also on the skinflint side of life I've found a sourse of FREE nappy buckets, Catering pack Mayo ( at least some brands) is sold in 10 l buckets with sealable lids and handles.I asked the cafe at work for a couple of empties. The avaerage "nappy bucket" is a 9 l bucket with a handle and a sealable lid... and costs about 7 quid.

Opps- rambled on a bit there didn't I, sorrry. I'll go and do something more constructive now, like write that reference I've been putting off.

romilly · 18/02/2006 14:22

phew! that was a lot to catch up on.... now i have no time to post. briefly,

vikkiyy - i am sorry they are not looking after you as well as they should be i would let them know you are not impressed! hope the itching is easing off.

i too have gone for the snowsuit option, just in case it is still as cold as it has been. looks so tiny though, i'm sure it wont last 5 minutes!

friz - how are you hun? it sounds like it may be this week for you. thinking of you!

jersey - good luck for scan on the 14th - come and tell us if you find out the sex!

right, off to do a million and one baby-related jobs now, starting with figuring out how to put the pram up.

have a good weekend all.

RosiePosie · 18/02/2006 15:42

Hi everyone, wow, loads going on! Toothyboy, all the best of luck for Monday, can't wait to hear your news. Unisarah, I have bamboozles ( amongst others ) - they are lovely but take a long time to dry ( longer than normal tots). Bumbles are great, bimbles are adorable, but the size 0's don't last long, so get the ones that go up to 20lbs. They do them in a popper version now too - but are more expensive. Munz - get down on your hands and knees and scrub that kitchen floor girl! Other thing that's supposed to help is walking up and downstairs sideways.

Never heard of "fixing pains" before - what does that mean?!

I've been feeling decidedly odd today. I took ds to the cinema this morning and was in agony, not contractions as such, more like a continuous pain. I thought it might be because I needed a wee and was sitting in an awkward position. Anyhow, got home and have had a few contractions, but I don't think it's anything to get excited about. Problem is, MIL who is hopefully looking after the kids is nearly 2 hours away, so I'm really hoping to have a bit of notice before things kick off. I did with the other two - a show the day before. I'm really hoping the same thing happens again!

All the best of luck everyone! Can't wait for these announcements to start rolling in. Someone I know from another site had boy/girl twins naturally this morning at about 38 weeks
