Here we are girls. I think we are all a bit shell-shocked at the moment, aren't we?

Thinking of you DHW and wishing life wasn't so cruel sometimes.

All okay - head right down. So far down she couldn't get the measurements of it! Estimated weight is heavier now at 37 weeks than my dd was when she was born at 41 weeks, but I know how notoriously inaccurate growth scans are, and he doesn't feel or look THAT big, so I'm not worried (much).

OP posts:
chellebelle · 09/02/2006 16:24

How big was your DD then?

romilly · 09/02/2006 16:25

newgirl - hope all goes well at your next scan and you dont have to stay in for all that time. surely if you tell them you have a dd they can work something out?

munz - only a couple of days work, you are going to love mat. leave! word of warning though: i have been just as busy at home than i was at work! no putting the feet up so far, lol

had my m/wife appt. this morning. now measuring 38cm FH. so still biggish, also she is still in posterior position, and very comfy staying there it seems. so i was told to get into doggy position and scrub the floors for the next few weeks.

friz - i dont have wendy's e-mail, but i am sure she will see your message at some point. poor wendy, it is really sad.
and your poor friend, i hope they dont lose their home too

totallyinlove · 09/02/2006 16:36

Hi ladies!

Feel more human today! WOOHOO!

Had antenatal today. FH is 40 and shes wrote 4/5 on the notes for the head position. I take it that means 1/5 in?

Had my final lot of bloods done today too, so depends on the results as to if I can go ahead with homebirth. If they go below 10 then I can't. They were 10.5 last time! PLEEEEEEEASE let them have at least stayed the same! Midwife is delivering my homebirth pack on sunday morning anyway because all being well they are on call for me from monday.

We can't decide on names though. Though I hate the pointless arguing over names because I know the sex but husband still doesn't want to know. We have decided on George for a boy though, but girls we can't decide. We do like Eleanor though but worried about people thinking it's odd or old fashioned. George is quite old fashioned too but I've heard of a few Georges around recently and we love it!

Had a massive cleaning spree yesterday evening, and when I got up this morning .......I HAD A SHOW! EEK! hmm. half term baby methinks!

RosiePosie · 09/02/2006 16:58

DD was 3kg on the dot ( that's 6lbs10oz ) - this one's estimated at 3.14kg already ( four weeks earlier ) - I'm very dubious.

Tinlove - I know it's up to you, what you feel happy with etc, but if my bloods come back below 10 ( had test today ) it's not going to stop me from having the homebirth. The can't "let" you do anything - only advice you. I'm not sure what the exact risks are if the level is below 10,
but unless it's drastically below I don't think it makes much difference. If my iron levels are a little low, I'm just going to up my intake of iron supplement and tell them I'm going ahead with the HB anyway. Like I said though, you have to do what YOU feel comfortable with - and if you'd rather go into hospital, there is absolutely nothing wrong with that - the most important thing is that you feel relaxed and happy with your decision.

Frizbetheexpansionset · 09/02/2006 22:17

TIL you are so having that baby this weekend!! hope you make a homebirth!
RP, good news re babys position
Rom, glad your ok too hon, get on that floor!!
Finally got my pethadine perscription today, so roll on baby am now fully ready! even if baby is not! now debating what to do with kids tomorrow, as ss has broken up a day early due to inset day, but we have no money spare to do anything nice (as doing that next week bar baby arrival...)

newgirl · 10/02/2006 09:56

hello! it sounds like babies are getting ready!! Good luck for the weekend TIL! Eleanor and Ellie are very popular here in St Albans so I don't think it is considered old fashioned - I reckon its a lovely choice. I like George too. If this baby is a boy I might go for it too! Like Harry at the mo too.

munz - wow almost on mat leave - the time has flown by.

rp - good to hear baby has got into position - sounds ideal! Mine was doing some very large movements last night so who knows where she has settled today.

saw a friend yesterday with a lovely 3 month year old - all going well but her mums group were all discussing private school places! Crikey - now that is scarily organised! It is interesting how when old friends have kids you either find you have loads more in common or very little in common! I took her to pick up my dd and I am not sure what she made of our shabby chic state primary!

have a lovely day everyone x

romilly · 10/02/2006 11:02

lol newgirl - that is scary at 3 months

friz - glad the pethidine arrived at last. have fun with the kiddies, may be your last chance for a bit!

well i shall mostly be crawling around on all fours today - lol

munz - last day today for you!!!!!!!!!! yayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

RosiePosie · 10/02/2006 15:40

I had a posterior first birth, Rom - it was long! Definately worth doing this opitimal foetal positioning stuff - instead of lying on the sofa watching dvd's and eating, like it did! Interestingly, I also had a posterior second labour, but because no. one had paved the way it was a respectable 8 hours. I also laboured upright that time, and birthed kneeling - I'm sure it made the world of difference.

OP posts:
Frizbetheexpansionset · 10/02/2006 16:01

Ah yes, a kneeling birth, that's what I'd like to aim for this time, after getting forced into the midwives fav position last time.....

Rom, have dragged the kids out today, picnic lunch, park and long walk, dd fast off on sofa, ss watching chuckle vision!! me on here!!

Newgirl, school places, yikes now that is ott!

Munz, happy last day at work! hurrah!!

UniSarah any luck with the water situation?

TIL you had that baby yet?

Frizbetheexpansionset · 10/02/2006 16:03

Oh don't know if any of you have seen the birth announcements, but Jangus (angedmarche) was due 1st March, and has a bouncing bubba!!! so that's the 1st March baby out

RosiePosie · 10/02/2006 16:26

Oh munz - you're last day! Quite a defining moment - last day of work before motherhood, if I remember correctly - I hope it hasn't been too emotional for you, now. . .rest up!

OP posts:
UniSarah · 10/02/2006 16:39

Thanks for asking Friz- Yes we have tap water to drink again! Hurrah. And will be compensated to the tune of £30, also nice to know.
Popped down to see the quack today and have now got a HUGE jar of simple ( no perfum, no alcohol etc) moisturiser on prescription as well as more topical steriod cream, all in an attempt to stop me scratching my self raw before pip shows up. I guess itching IS better than heartburn? But not much I can assure you, esp when it wakes you at night and you find you have drawn blood in your sleep!
TENS machine arrived today! New toy.
Go for it girls with the crawling and bouncing to get those babies the right way round. Pips been good so far and is the right way round, but I'm still finding sitting in one position for long uncomfy. Hum, thats not a pip thing tho, I've never been good at sitting for long, the first time I did an office job ( 2 years ago) I had terrible backache with in a week.
UniSarah

vickiyumyum · 10/02/2006 17:10

unisarah - sorry tot hear about the itching, i have this too, and no cream that has been prescribed has worked, i still itch all over! every morning i wake to find that my boobs have big scratches on them and so do my legs, very attractive, unfortunatley i have heartburn too!!
forgot to say my lo is breech! but for me its not too important as having third c/s.

brought the last cot blankets today, so thats me finished, kids are off to butlins with my mum next week and so i have aweek of quiet and nothing to do, i'm either going to love it or be bored out of my mind. also discovered that my local zara now has a kids wear department, dangerous, as i brought the boys too many clothes, had a look at the girls clothes but am holding off until the baby is here, just drop some hints to my mum and sister about where i have seen nice clothes!

its getting exciting now, can't wait until people start announcng their births here, i am really looking forward to hearing about all of your experiences. roll on march!!!!

romilly · 10/02/2006 18:20

rosiep - so how long exactly was your first birth?! i may have to be induced too, so double trouble!

uni - and vikkiyumyum - isnt itching something to do with obstetric choleastis (sp?) or is that just when it is your palms of your hands itching? i have had itchy lower legs

friz - glad you had a good day with the kiddies, now for some friz-time

hello everyone else, how exciting that the first march baby has arrived....

Marne · 10/02/2006 18:34

Hi girls, just trying to catch up, who's had the first march baby?

Seen the midwife today, baby seems ok but she wants to send me for a scan next week as baby seems small, baby's head is realy low down which maybe why my bump is small so off for a groth scan next thursday.

Bought a steriliser today as the second hand one i had bought did'nt work, i think i have evrything ready now, well i hope i have.

Well not long to go now, getting realy worried about leaving dd as i have never left her before )apart from with dh), lets hope it does'nt take long, my last labour was 8 hours, they say 2nd one takes half the time of your first.

UniSarah · 10/02/2006 20:03

I have been checked out for obstetric choleastis twice now, with blood tests and had the all clear on liver function. Its just itching...I'm V glad its not OC as thats rather nasty and would possibly involve pip being induced early to minimize the risk to him.
Have cut my nails AGAIN!
UniSarah

Frizbetheexpansionset · 10/02/2006 20:17

Marne, Jangus (angedmarche's new name) has had the 1st march baby

Unisarah, good re the compensation not very often you get something back from the water companies!! Glad you've been checked out for obstretic cholestasis (well remembered what it was called Rom!!) and its not that, vicki take it you've been checked out too right?

One kid in bed, one to go here! hope they're both settled soon, I need an early night, am shattered!

totallyinlove · 10/02/2006 20:19

no friz. still here! lol Did wonder before because I had some fluid leaking but oh the shame i think i just (ahem) wet myself

congrats to jangus! am soooo jealous. and fat. and fed up. sigh!!

what you ladies up to over the weekend then? Apart from lots of sex and pineapple i mean! haha

vickiyumyum · 10/02/2006 20:28

spoke to my midwife about oc but told not to worry and i'm not really(don't know if you knew but i'm a nq midwife and have seen quite a few cases of oc) but now i am on mat leave and have too much time on my hands i have started to worry about it more. i have ot go to the path lab on monday to have my bloods redone and may tick off the boxes for oc just to be on safe side!
seriously i think my job has given me too much knowledge of all the things that can go wrong, as i permently sit here checking movements, heartbeat with my doppler and now worrying about itching, if i'm not careful i'll be admitted with raised bp at this rate! whereas throughout pg i have had the opposite, my bp has been low and i have been prone to fainting which i have never had in my life before.
thankfully i have a few things arranged for next week so not too much time to sit around thinking about things that could go wrong. a few lunches witht eh girls from work, a shopping trip for a wedding we are going too and a day out to hayling island to visit friends with dh so should keep me occupied.
i'm currently trying to keep off ebay and any shopping websites, as it is becoming a bit of a compulsion to keep buying for this baby at this rate i will have enough to last it until its three, has anyone else had this overwhelming urge to shop?

munz · 11/02/2006 10:07

morning girls, well finished work - must say i'm depressed about the thought of being at home 24/7, esp as we're skint till pay day in approx 10 days time ish - so can't even go for a mooch about town.anyhow, work gave us some mothercare vouchers so i've sent those down to mum and she's off ordering the bedding to be sent to us this week - (u can't use vouchers online and our nearest store is 30 miles away - and that's piddaly) so then all we have to get is the cotbed matress, but the crib's all ready so if jnr does come it's no big issue really. still having mega issues thou with the whole being dependant on DH (even thou i'll have maternity pay) my money will half and i've always earnt the same if not slightly more then DH, besides which if I have more than 2 weeks at home on holiday I go mad with boredom so i'm trying v v hard to relax but am also v v apprehensive and scared about the whole thing. Have told work to expect me back on thurs as DH is on nights from weds for a week so during the day we'll be home together - again i'll prob go mad but day 2 of us both being home! lol. - why can't my brain register it has to slow down! lol. anyhow.

latest apt with the m/w can't remember if I filled u all in?? bubba's not gonna be small apparently - ie 6lb, he's gonna be approx 7.5-8lb apparently - thou the m/w said tum was 'taught' (it is v firm now) and she couldn't work out where his legs were etc - but did write 4/5 on my notes so looks like still head down etc. (althou she didn't have a proper good poke/prod like the last m/w) everythings clear apart from that - back this thurs for another apt. was going to see if she'd sneek in a sweep for me - or do u have to wait till u're over for that? - thing's are getting v uncomfortable now - jnr is swingin between kicks so low i'd swear he was coming out, and a dull ache in the ribs on one side so god know's where he actually is! lol - i'm sure the bump's lower but thought that last time and he hadn't moved down any more. still now measuring the exact CM for the weeks - but according to my personalised scan i'm well over what I should be - on that grey 'universal' one i'm only just in the grey but arn't too fussed as i've been working on the cm to weeks ratio - is that right?? 37 weeks and counting now! lol.

anyhow enough of all that stuff. u guys have been chatty this week!

friz - hope DD settles down for u, looks like an early bubba for u as well then! lol.

zeph - don't be so daft girl u're one of the march girls so stick here! lol. glad u're having a DD, did u manage to get any pics?

Unisarah - glad u sorted out ur water prob - we've had the same prob in work since b4 xmas, (we have a well as it's on a farm) so we've been having to buy bottled water from morrisions. (good job work was paying for it! lol) sounds like ur maternity ward's a lot bigger than ours - I think our one only has about 40 beds ono it if that, (incl del suite and C section rooms!)

rosie - fingers crossed all goes well with ur scan and the heads down - not long now for u girls is it end of fweb and half terms next week! eeek!

pop - u shouldn't be in the attic hon (althou i'm thinking about our's having to swing off the banister to get into it! lol) seriously thou glad u and bump are OK - celilngs can be replaced!

Liz - glad ur LO has turned around, now rasperberry leaf - what exactly is the function of it, I've got some and had one mug on thurs nothing since - tbh it's not v nice is it?? lol.

chelle - how did ur apt go? did u get the results fingers crossed u've not got GD.

vic - lol@ u witih double everything, I think we've got 2 changing bags lol. althou i've advised mum we've brought everything and am just in need of vouchers for mothercare! lol. then we can go up to town after jnr's here and get the matress etc.

til - a show! ooh u'll be our second march gal then! lol - erm on my notes it also says 4/5 and the m/w who first wrote it said I was 1/5 engaged she seemed quite surprised but 4 weeks on and he's not shifted any lower.

ng- fingers crossed for tuesday for u and u don't ahve to stop in. my m/w said 10 kicks per day on average u should have any less and go to the clinic.

rom - lol@ u being as busy at home! i've brought a little bit home with me - just sittin at the table filing so nothing strenuous! u get and do ur floors hon! i've scrubbed all mine over the last 3 weeks - just becareful of 2 things - a, take a break cos I got terrible back ache and b, if u use bleach and dilute it wear gloves - I didn't and got a terrible rash! (am normally fine) althou it's not v lady like having ur bum in the air on ur knees scrubbing away! lol.

well best go do the stats lists then if we're off and popping - should we start a new thread as we're off now or wait a bit longer b4 we have our final march anti natal thread!

munz · 11/02/2006 10:07

ooh god that was long

munz · 11/02/2006 10:10

and I managed to get hold of a tens machine - v v impressed with it for back ache - althou not gonna leave DH in charge of the controller! lol. still nto agreeing on names, given up with that till LO's born.

munz · 11/02/2006 10:26

ok one last Q b4 I post the stat - in fact 3. (I tell u gone for a week and then 4 posts in one go!)

firstly - any idea of what snacks to take into hospital?? - I did have a box of malteasers - but ahem they were erm kinda fell out of the fridge and into my belly! lol . also have 2 reading books and a saduko/crossword book to do.

second - this whole itching thingy - is it anything to worry about/mention to the m/w as in bed i've been really itchy (has calmed back down again) I put it down to changing the soap poweder/softner thou as I have sensitve skin.

and third - u remember our rampent sex discussion gonna revive it for a mo, managed to have sex with DH last weekend (b4 he went away again) and erm i'm havin a few issues with the ahem 'O' part. not sure why exactly but it's there. DH is getting over the boobs issue as long as my bra's on. any ideas on relaxing for this 'o' thing? - that's ment to help isn't it or is it just him that needs to ahem do his bit? was alos worried as the bump didn't move at all after

vickiyumyum · 11/02/2006 12:14

munz - most itching in pg is down to hormones, skin stretching etc, and the fact that for some people when pg seem to become more sensitive to things that we weren't previously. i.e i can no longer wash up by hand as any dishwashing detergent makes my skin come up red raw and extremley itchy (hope it lasts means i only load the dishwasher and dh has to do the heavy duty scrubbing!!!)

also re sex babies seem to react diiferently to sex, it is almost as if they seem to be lying still mortified that mum and dad could do that while they are so close! or to the other extreme and its like right you've kept me awake now i'm going to get my own back! Not actually sure how my lo reacts as honestly can't remeber the last time we had sex, as have completley gone off it and dh has given up asking, dread to think what he looks up on the internet whilst i go to bed at 9pm! i think he is a bit miffed as with the 2 ds i couldn't keep my hands off him, even to the point of giving him oral sex until he agreed !!!!!! this time hes lucky if i let him cuddle me in bed let alone anything else, i seem to need my space far more than i have ever done.
i have been a good girl today kept out of town, so haven't spent any money, the kids are going to the cineam to watch chicken little with my brother(hes 23 and is taking the kids so that he ahs an excuse to go and see it!) and i am going to lie down and read for a couple of hours, may even have a long soak in the bath! tomorrow will be spent ironing and packing the kids clothes for their holiday to butlins so am determined to make the most of today.
