Here we are girls. I think we are all a bit shell-shocked at the moment, aren't we?

Thinking of you DHW and wishing life wasn't so cruel sometimes.

OP posts:

Crikey, nice to see the thread so active!! maternity leave eh! Hi all!!

Poppy H, Two weeks must be so nice to have a date!

Marne, you're very brave with your tooth, much respect.

Munz, hope you feeling better and lol at you and Rom re the ironing, that'll soon go out the window and you'll be checking all labels on all purchases, to avoid anything to do with ironing!! (along with dry cleaning!)

Come on TIL, I thought you'd have had your baby by now!!

Well I was 38 weeks yest, and so far no signs of owt, although that been said, family day out to seaside tomorrow, to see Bob the Builder, so that's the GP's (not the medical sort Jack!) dh, myself, dd and ss, so what's the better I give birth tonight!!

Frizbetheexpansionset · 13/02/2006 20:03

cross posts int girl! hiya!

poppyh · 13/02/2006 20:13

Keeping my fingers crossed for you Friz, as long as you dont keep your legs crossed though eh?!!
For the first time in this pg im actually wishing for more time as our house is such a mess! The dust just keeps getting worse, but I need the messy bit done before dd arrives on the scene.Ive become a task master nagging everyone to help!I find thehardest thing is looking after ds and dd in this house whilst work continues!
Im scrubbing floors and hoovering on the daily basis but house is still dusty and the hallway landing is such a mess.Oh well, better now than later.
Hope everyone ok.

InternationalGirl · 13/02/2006 20:17

Hiya Friz: Bob the Builder tomorrow or give birth tonight - now that's a tricky one... in your position I'd probably go for birth. At this stage I'm not quite ready yet although my body might disagree.

You know what store I miss munz - Early Learning Center - my kids loved that store.

Ooh - getting some serious Braxton Hicks - 'night - gotta go to bed - we're 2 hrs ahead of you all in the UK.

vickiyumyum · 13/02/2006 20:23

ds1&2 have gone off to butlins with their nan and my sister today, so now what to do with all the free time? tried relaxing today and couldn't kept counting how many times lo moved, how many times i had heartburn after drinking water!!! sky+ jeremy kyle to watch in the afternoon, and then went back to bed, didn't think i would get off again, and then i was woken up by dh coming home at 5.30, oops, so probably won't sleep tonight now.
4 weeks on thursday to my c/s, when i had my consultant appointment to check growth (large for dates) i was kind of hoping they might bring it forward a week or two as 16/03 makes me 39+ weeks. have got to go for my second glucose tollernace test tomorrow, as even though i have already tested and came back negative, they want me to have it again.

was going to wash all the baby clothes this week, but as i am being optimistic that this one will be slightly smaller i have brought quite a few nb size sleepsuits, and i know if i wash them then this baby will be bloody huge and then i won't b able to take them back. i did iron all my baby clothes with ds1 and for a couple of moths with ds2 even vests and babygrows

its great to finally start counting doen all the days, hope all of you who have planned homebirths get your wishes. i watched a programme on discovery health at the weekend about home birth and a woman had a 11lb 12oz girl no stitches!!!!

jobs to do for tomorrow - umm nothing! feet up, jeremy kyle, car booty etc tec and cups of tea

spiker · 13/02/2006 20:31

rom - I had a couple of attempts at perineal massage thingy last time...but really I just couldn't bring myself to do it. I mean I don't sit around pulling other bits of my skin trying to deform them - it was just too weird for me. And incidentally I didn't tear but it did take 2 hours to get DS out, so that's probably why. So not bothering this time and I'm sure I'm not the only second timer with an unused bottle of almond oil in her bathroom!

newgirl · 13/02/2006 20:49

hello everyone - wow how chatty we all are now.

Munz - it is weird going from working girl to waiting for baby. MASSIVE life change plus hormones is a mad combination!! Some people are really busy and lots are really bored!

Some of my second-timer mum friends have had babies in the last two weeks and they are popping out easy peasy! Quick as anything no stitches etc so hope thats the same for everyone here!

I'm bit worried about tomorrows scan and consultant appt - thanks for the kind thoughts everyone. If I do have placenta previa still (I'm hoping it is really really rare!!) then I am going to ask when is the earliest I can have a c-section -- I might sneak on to the Feb thread!!

More soon, take care y'all

romilly · 13/02/2006 21:53

newgirl - good luck with tomorrow's scan and appt. hope all goes well

lol spiker - i am sure you are right about those unused bottles of almond oil - you have made me feel much better about shirking from this particular pregnancy exercise! i am already humiliated enough at having to walk around on all fours like a doggy with my bum in the air
(rosiep, i know, i know, i will regret it when the time comes!)

actually someone in my NCT class who was doing her perineal massage regularly (and it seems a little too enthusiastically) actually managed to tear herself just doing the exercise - that is what put me off to be honest.

Frizbetheexpansionset · 13/02/2006 22:14

Yikes, really Rom what on earth was she doing?! are you sure it was massage?!

Newgirl, thanks for the boost re 2nd one popping out! Heres hoping all is ok and you don't have placenta previa, fingers x'd for you.

VickiYY, ouch how big?! I don't even want to think about that.....

Int girl, I know birth is looking the better option! but doub't it somehow.....

PoppyH, just try and forget the dust and think how fabby your house is going to look in a few weeks time and how much its going to go up in value with its new conversion!

laundrylover · 14/02/2006 11:30

Happy Valentine's day!
Just taken me ages to catch up with the thread - we're getting as chatty as that Feb lot!! Mind you the rate their babies are popping out it should slow down soon.
Sorry to hear of bugs/scans/upside down babies and hugs to all!
On the itchy skin front you could try Aveno cream which is lovely oatmeal stuff and you can get in menthol which is super cooling. Really cheap in the US IntGirl but more pricey for us though you can get on prescription.
Well we went to Whitby for a long weekend with 4 friends a toddler and a dog! Our rental house was lovely, newly renovated but spread over 4 floors which combined with hills pushed my SPD over the top. Ended up crawling up stairs and walking with a granny stick in town.
How are you fairing RP? Anyone resorted to crutches yet?
Better get some work done I suppose but have sent DP to pick up Mat Allowance form from Inland Rev so may think about chucking the towel in soon.

jersey · 14/02/2006 12:30

Hi just dropping in to say goodluck to Romilly and Munz (you helped me out with temps when I was trying to conceive) when are you due?

Hope everything goes well.

Klara · 14/02/2006 13:05

Romily- she managed to tear herself doing a massage? That's horrendous. I have to say that over here (in holland) we don't get advised to do perinial massage - do you think it really helps?

To everyone else - thanks for all your messages re my cowwardly tendencies....will pray that you are all right and it will be quicker this time round. Mind you - not too fast . My colleague told me today that her neighbour went in the car to hospital yesterday with contractions 7 minutes apart - and it was born in the car. The hospital was 10 minutes drive!
ARGHHHH

klara

UniSarah · 14/02/2006 15:19

Newgirl- Hope all was Well with consultant.

I've had the all clear from my consultant for homebirth! yea, thats that out the way, and now Midwife has just brought round a birth kit ( big suitcase full of scary looking stuff and paperwork!) So I can now relax officailaly and let pip show up any time he's ready. If the little horror takes after me he wil be a bit late ;-) if after DH decidely early.
Swimming this mornig was fab, so nice not to be all heavy and cumbersome.I've just booked a massage for friday afternoon as well as there is a physio with a massage bed with a hole for the bump in town. Not over cheap but I think worth a try , partners of friends have raved about it.
Tearing during perinal massage- eek, me thinks that was someone getting a bit carried away, your surposed to feel the stretch and a little burn, not a lot of pain. I've done a little, but sex is more fun.
UniSarah

romilly · 14/02/2006 19:12

unisarah - congrats on all clear for your homebirth

klara - at your friend having baby in the car! was it her first? think i will head off to hospital earlier on than i was going to now!

jersey: how lovely of you to come and wish munz and i all the best how are things going with you? please drop a line so we know what's happening with you. we are getting very close now as you can see, the last trimester really does fly by (unlike the first....! boy, that was loooong)

romilly · 14/02/2006 19:15

klara, forgot to say that perineal massage is now recommended over here, they give you leaflets in the NCT classes showing you what to do. i am feeling very guilty that i havent attempted it yet, but it kind of makes me cringe!

unisarah is right, i think this girl got a little carried away, the idea is not to do damage to yourself pre-birth! it is meant to prepare you a little.

Frizbetheexpansionset · 15/02/2006 05:53

Morning girls, not sure if kicking off here or not, threw up at 4.30 and 5.30 have managed 5 irregular contractions so far??? feeling like crap/can't get comfy, have feeling no2, may well be on way, although will obviously confirm this to you later!! want to have a bath, but don't want to wake up ss or dd, so waiting for now.....
Hope your all ok x

Klara · 15/02/2006 06:51

Frizbee - wow - not sure if i'm the only other oneup yet, but GOOD luck. Sounds like something is happening anyway..

Klara

totallyinlove · 15/02/2006 08:36

hey ladies! friz good luck! Hope alls going ok! I started having a few pains every few minutes around 4am but they seem to have stopped now. GRR. Got myself geared up ready for it as well! I WANT THIS BABY OUT NOW!! Oh well. Husbands gone to work now with strict instructions to leave his phone by him AT ALL TIMES!! Not sure if it will mount to anything but still. Feels like my periods going to start big time any minute. sob-I can't go another 19 days like this can I???? 26 if I go over and have to go in to be induced!

poppyh · 15/02/2006 08:37

Friz, are you ok?Hope youve managed to have a bath.Good luck today.
Got to go and clean house, yet again!Someone went through ceiling again yesterday.Hoping all this sweeping and cleaning floor will bring on labour!!
Take care

Frizbetheexpansionset · 15/02/2006 09:16

Hi Ladies, things have died down for the moment Like I say threw up for quite some time, contracted every 15 mins until 6.15am, when I thought stuff it, have a bath and see if it speeds things up! it slowed things down to every 20mins......then I caught myself dropping off in the bath, so crawled out and back into bed, where I've managed roughly 1.5hrs dozing, the kids are now awake and I've just had a bit of a clear out (ahem) but no contractions that I'm currently noticing?? guessing a false alarm????

TIL come on, lets have a go at being birthing buddies

Poppy H, think I'm going to clear house out too, might set me off again sorry to hear builders keep drifting thru your celing tho....

newgirl · 15/02/2006 09:18

ahhhh! friz and til - good luck! Who knows what the day will bring!

good news here - consultant appt/scan went well! placenta has moved and baby is head down ready to go! So no c-section booked now just waiting to see how it all goes. Yippeeee. I was beginning to think I was spending val night in qe2 hospital watching the telly! Instead, I over-did it on the profiteroles and spent the night dreaming about jogging! Oh bugger, does that mean I might have to push the baby out myself yikes!! will not be doing the massage though - she must have had very spiky fingernails!

totallyinlove · 15/02/2006 09:18

sounds like your going to have a baby soon to me!!

I can't see anything happening here tbh. Got a friend coming round later. Should go and tidy up I guess! sigh.

totallyinlove · 15/02/2006 09:19

sorry newgirl posts crossed. Am so glad all went well for you! Yes the massage sounds a bit painful!!

munz · 15/02/2006 09:23

just a quick note for the minute,

friz - OMG!! fingers crossed things pick up again for u honney.

rom - i'm not bothering with that massage thingy either only just about doing rasp tea and I guess I should start pelvic floor thingys shouldn't i! lol.

i'll be back later on after walking the dogs and jeremy kyle!

jersey · 15/02/2006 09:30

Hi rom and munz, glad to here you are nearly there. This preg for me seems to have gone a lot quicker than the 1st, although thats prob because you tend to be a lot busier 2nd time around.

Everything going ok here, 2nd scan on 14th March so hopefully we can findout the sex. Bump growing well I think I have knackered tummy muscles this time .

Will keep an eye out for your anouncements as I guess you could be any day now.

Good luck to everyone else on here for a speedy natural delivery.
