Hi everyone, 15 weeks here :)

Still got morning sickness, but it has reduced to every few days now.

Still very tired, hoping for that second trimester glow to come soon.

Makka just got over a cold, they seem to be doing the rounds at the moment, try my Brew, clears the head nicely:

hot water, juice of half a lemon, few slices of ginger, slice chilli, a clove, piece of cinnamon stick.

ILoveMyDragon · 05/09/2011 09:22

Yes very quiet indeed!!!

As for the legs mine are very itchy and a bit dry! Am bein waxed tomorrow which strangely usually helps so looking forward to it!

Scan tomorrow actually gettin quite scared now with the whole 'what if im wrong? What if there is nothing in there?' how embarassing would that be?!?!?!
I can imagine DP too - what the hell are you tryin to do to me!!

Altho I am also a little worried about the comfortably full bladder as my scan is at 9.20 so not too long after my morning wee and I'm sittin here now at 9.20 not needing the loo at all! Guess it will be lots of coffee in the morning and hope I'm not sick!

knitterati · 05/09/2011 10:22

Hey, Sorry for the silence over the weekend had my friend down for the weekend to tell her the good news Smile

Ilovemydragon - pleased I've found someone with the same EDD! is this your first? Good luck with the scan tomorrow. I have mine at 9.45 on Wednesday, so am also debating the early morning wee vs stocking up on water and hope I don't see it again when they start prodding my belly! Like you, I'm also living in some kind of weird fear that I'll get there, they'll take one look and say, 'no you're not pregnant - the sickness and swelling is down to some strange tropical disease' (not that I've been anywhere exotic recently).

Poppins sorry to hear your MS is back with vengeance - how cruel is it that it seemed to go away and come back?! Have you tried the travel accupressure bands? They seemed to help me for a while.

I seem to be having a mix of sick/not so sick days now - not sick every day. Maybe the 2nd trimester is really in sight? My skin has been mildly spotty and my nails have grown like mad! I am still feeling quite tired with naps through the day and still managing to sleep 8hrs of an evening. We best make up for it now I guess before all the sleepless nights kick in Smile

For the stretch marks, an ex colleague recommended Mamma Mio Stretch mark oil. It's quite pricey, but well worth it - a little bit goes a long way and it smells quite delicately lemony. DH has enjoyed rubbing it in every evening and talking to my flab lump (it's not yet a bump).

As for books, my SIL bought me www.amazon.co.uk/gp/offer-listing/1858287650/ref=dp_olp_new?ie=UTF8&condition=new a rough guide to pregnancy and birth. It's quite amusing, gentle but informative so far. Not sure what I'm going to read post-birth, although I am thinking about trusting my instincts and winging it? Anyone tried that approach? thoughts?

Has anyone else told their work yet? I did a few weeks ago and there has since been a bit of a re-org and I'm finding that my job is being marginalised Angry. Think I might start a separate thread on this as the whole situation had me in tears on Friday night and it's really getting to me Sad.

Makka hope you feel better soon - I have just packed DH off on a business trip away and was quite glad to see him off as he's picked up a nasty cough from somewhere that I don't want to share!

knitterati · 05/09/2011 10:22

oops - sorry for the long post!

ILoveMyDragon · 05/09/2011 10:31

Don't apologise for the long threads knitterti we need something to read on here!!!

Yes it is my first :D

I told my boss a few weeks ago and she has been amazing! I kinda thought she would be as she has only been back about 9 months after her 2nd lot of maternity leave. I have a team meetin on Wed so all being well with the scan the announcement shall be made and we have a family weddin on Sat so I intend to FB announce on Wed so that people will have gossiped sufficiently and it will have spread around the family widely by the wedding!

Still haven't done the housework baaaaaah

Fivesoontobesix · 05/09/2011 12:07

Hi, Not posted on here before, but I have been lurking for a while. Now i've had a scan, and know that everythings ok (had a few losses in the past) I figured i'd bite the bullet and introduce myself.
Im 14+4, Due on 1st March, and this will be my 6th DC.
Im starting to feel a little better, been pretty sick this time around, but if I overdo it I feel like crap come the evening. I have also developed a lovely glowing complexion, or is that just all the spots merging together to make my face look red!! My hair is like straw, and I cant do a thing with it and at the moment I just look fat, not pregnant! Lovely!

ILoveMyDragon · 05/09/2011 13:32

Welcome Welcome Five!!! And congratulations!!
I we may need some of your plentiful expertise!!!

KittyRogue · 05/09/2011 16:38

Hello!!!!

Had my scan today! All is well! It was amazing seeing it wiggling around having a swim!! It was being tricky so only got one really decent picture but so awesome to just know it was there and had a heartbeat!!!
My due date has changed to 17 March!

SantaLucia · 05/09/2011 16:40

knitterati - I tried the winging it approach last time. I banned all books from the house, refused to buy much stuff, didn't join any threads or ante-natal groups, just relied on my friends. It was fine, although I now think that having a few more ideas (and bits of equipment) wouldn't have hurt. I had this firm belief that babies didn't need anything and that books were all nonsense that made you feel insecure about your natural abilities. I've moved slightly away from this now. Baby handling can be tricky and very shocking when its the first time. I think the people who read a lot in preparation are sometimes better prepared to deal with this. Anyone think the same?

Makka - eugh the cold. I had it last week and have been left with very painful blocked sinuses which give me constant headaches. Of course there are no decent decongestants for sinus pain which are suitable for pregnancy so I'm taking daily paracetamol (surely can't be better?) and liberally pouring Olbas Oil over my pillow at night. Somebody suggested a sinus drainage massage which you can get at beauty salons. I'm desperate enough to try anything but the idea of a woman rubbing around my eyes in the hope that snot will come out of my nose (or down my throat) seems a bit gross.

Fivesoontobesix - I'm in the fat camp too. Although have started wearing maternity jeans and this seems to mould the flab into what looks more like a bump. Its actually a bump with a layer of flab sitting above it around my ribs. Nice.

Sounds silly but anyone excited about Christmas? I love the idea of being too heavily pregnant to make any food and have a fantasy where I sit in front of a log fire in my stylish maternity frocks and long cardigans, being fed sandwiches and given presents. Chances of this happening??? Grin

SantaLucia · 05/09/2011 16:41

Oh congrats Kitty! Only just saw your post. Wonderful news.

knitterati · 05/09/2011 17:57

Ah kitty, you're the same day as me and ilovemydragon! Congrats!

ZhenXiang · 05/09/2011 19:03

Hi five, congratulations and welcome :)

Good news Kitty, it is so reassuring when you see them moving around in there and makes it all the more real :)

Got a burst of energy to day after having been sick all yesterday and cleaned the house from top to bottom, won't last as DD has already trailed toys and food around the place, but it felt good to have the push to do it.

Ooh Makka forgot to say that saline nasal spray is excellent for clearing the sinuses and completely ok for pregnancy. I used the drops from she was a little baby as spray quite forceful, but they both work. Also steam inhalation from bowl of boiling hot water works a treat too, put a towel over your head and just sit there for while breathing it in.

ShaggingProducesResults · 05/09/2011 19:33

very quiet yet I have still managed to forget everything I've just read........ That'll be the babybrain kicking in then!!

Back from hols where I managed an average of 2 days able to get out of bed and onto a lilo in the sun to every 1 day in bed. Even managed a few meals out and a couple of late nights - wild child!!!

Came back to the combined screening results which were very good news (1:21,000) and I think MS is on the way out. I hope so because I can;t wait to feel normal again!!

Back to work tomorrow - Boooooooo! but then have a massage booked for the weekend, can't wait :)

13+2

Norfolkbumpkin · 06/09/2011 11:34

Good news from our house today, combined test results arrived through post and the number is 1 in 21390 which is a huge relief as I'm pushing 40 and nervous about the risks increasing with age. It's also dd's 4th birthday today so the house is full of excitement and fab presents. It's all good Smile

ILoveMyDragon · 06/09/2011 18:48

OMG THERE'S A BABY IN THERE!!!

Had me scan!!! All is ok apart from exceptionally sleepy and stubborn due to me havin to take codeine for a pulled muscle in back - ick!

I've been put forward a week so now due on 9th March and I'm 13.4 not 12.4!!!! ARGH so much to do and I've lost a week!!!

Congrats to all who have had good results (I can't remember everyting I read either!!!)

knitterati · 06/09/2011 19:44

Congrats Norfolk and ILoveMyDragon!!

So super excited for mine tomorrow! Kinda hoping my dates come forward a bit! Means I could go on maternity leave sooner & get out of that hell-hole for a bit!

So last week I picked up a baby on board badge for the tube part of my marathon 2hr commute. Wore it with pride this morning and NO-ONE gave up their seat! I didn't need it, but it would have been nice to have an offer at least! Grr!

Will report back after my scan tomorrow! X

Fivesoontobesix · 07/09/2011 09:22

Thanks for the welcome folks. Grin
santa I got some maternity jeans the other day too, and yes, thats exactly what I look like too! I saw a pic of Beyonce yesterday, (gets right on my nerves she does!) at the vma's displaying her neat little bump, and it said that she was due im March! I doubt it, I dont have anywhere near as much of a bump as that, unless of course she's having twins.....hmmm.
Weather here is pants, rain wind, rubbish. its all downhill from here weather wise I recon. Its going to be a novelty being pregnant through winter though, as all my others, bar one have been born in the autumn, In september, one in october, and two in november. One of them was born in May, so kindof similar.
I forgot to mention before as well, that im also 41, so no spring chicken! Even the midwife called me old! Shock How rude. Good job I know her or I would have been offended!
Enough of my ramblings, have a good day everyone, whatever your up to.

knitterati · 07/09/2011 12:44

Am posting the same here as I did on the other March thread, so apologies if you're reading this twice:

Had my scan! Happy to report that I do actually have a baby and not some weird tropical disease that has been doing crazy things to my body for the past few weeks! My dates have changed and now due 23rd March, so not as far along as I thought I was, which explains why I'm still suffering from MS.

The baby waved for the camera and was wiggling about for a bit and saw its little heartbeat pounding away. So emotional. just beautiful.

The sonographer made a typo on the nuchal measurement and put it as 9.0mm!! They've tried to correct it to 0.09mm (which is what it was when the sonographer said it was a good nuchal reading), but I'm worried that someone won't see the amendment and call me back in.

Nevermind! I'm just elated to have seen my little sea monkey. Absolutely amazing and so special. DH had a good view as the sonographer when straight in to get measurements quickly whilst baby was in a good position and she was brilliant at explaining what everything was and what DH was looking at. It's one of those moments that I'll never forget and also makes me proud to be a taxpayer contributing to our much maligned NHS.

Also wandered past a lady on her way into the labour ward having a contraction...I've never seen it in real life (only on One Born Every Minute), so it was a bit of an eye-opener!

How did everyone else's go??

KittyRogue · 08/09/2011 16:38

Woooooo I have my results!! 1 in 10000!!! Not as high as some here, but still pretty good :) really want the MS to go now!!

knitterati · 08/09/2011 18:14

Kitty, that's great news! How long did it take for results to come through?

They said to me, 2wks normally but if there's anything unusual, they'll call me within the week.

KittyRogue · 08/09/2011 18:51

Knitterati, I had blood taken on Monday and the letter came today so not too shabby. I was also told 2 weeks waiting. I suppose if they aren't busy it'll take less time. :) here is hoping yours arrive soon!!

Sonriente · 08/09/2011 18:59

Hi all! Ive moved over from feb group as my due date is 29th feb, but mine are always late. 1 in 20000! Mine was 1 in 900 which although is low risk still seems like not great odds. For all those still being sick are you taking vitamins? I heard that pregnacare can cause nausea I stopped taking it Monday and have been feeling great since. Could be coincidence but I was vomiting regularly before.

ILoveMyDragon · 08/09/2011 19:40

Welcome Sonriente!!!
I'm waitin for results but to be honest nothing can really knock me down too much right now!!!
:D:D
Such a relief to tell everyone!!! Tiredness seems to have waned a bit now too which is lovely I can almost stay awake past 8pm!!!

FlipFantasia · 08/09/2011 20:16

Evening ladies

We just got back from the States today - great holiday though totally jet lagged now! DS slept brilliantly on the plane...it's just that he was asleep on me for the whole 6 hours so I didn't get any sleep! Still, got to watch Bridesmaids which was v funny. Also got some great maternity bargains in Gap and at Target. Am still fitting in my normal clothes but am looking forward to breaking out the new gear now!

It's so great to hear of good scan news and nuchal results Smile

Knitterati, am also due 23 March! Hope the work situation is easing. I'm quite nervous about telling my boss as only got back from my first bout of maternity leave at the end of March...

Our scan is tomorrow at 9.50 and a friend is dropping over to mind DS. V excited to see bubble again though nervous too. Despite too good scans I'm convinced something terrible has happened [sigh].

Right, off to do some unpacking before I catch up on sleep. Am really hoping DS isn't awake too early tomorrow as have to go into work after the scan. Am fully expecting to be a zombie but really wish I'd just booked the day off!

11+6

FlipFantasia · 09/09/2011 14:23

Had the scan and all good with the baby - relief!! It was so lovely to see the little thing, though my bladder was comedy full so spent most of the time trying not to pee myself!

The nuchal fold was fine - 2mm I think which looked to be bang in the middle of what's normal according to the report. Hope the blood results come through as quickly as some of yours have.

My EDD hasn't changed, though I could see that from the CRL it looks like I have an EDD of 20 March, which is what I thought based on ov dates. But it's close enough to my LMP date of 23 March for them to not change it. Which suits me as I expect I'll go late with this one so am quite happy for them to think I'm 3 days behind where I think I am iykwim.

Anyway, first day back in the office after the States and the jet lag is a killer! Hope everyone's having a good Friday.
