Found out on sunday that were expecting our first baby in march!! Some online due date calculators say the 8th and some say the 10th so im not quite sure which one is right!!

Ive got my 1st doctors appointment tomorrow to confirm things

Has anyone else got the BFP and wants to celebrate?

Good to hear about all the lovely scan results :)

Welcome Sonriente I am due on the 27th of Feb, but I am still lurking on the March thread as it could go either way!

MS still here and headaches too, but went to the park and played in the sand pit with DD today so feeling pretty good for once. She is now covered top to toe with ice-cream so better go clean her up!

laabama · 09/09/2011 19:30

Evening everyone!

Have had a busy couple of weeks. Think last time I posted DP's DS had just thrown up all over our house. Since then DP came down with it last week, which was worrying as I was bridesmaid for one of my best friend's last Sat and really didn't want to be ill and therefore missing that. Was fine for weekend and was then just beginning to congratulate myself on avoiding the bug when...yep, Monday night was spent vomiting every hour and a half. Def not pregnancy-related. Ironically, I'd got myself in a right old lather last week about feeling 'too well', so had spent Friday and the whole weekend feeling pretty nauseous again so when I also felt rubbish on Monday, I put it down to that. Sadly not. Cue a day in bed on Tuesday as each time I got up, I threw up and therefore nearly missed my MA graduation on Wednesday!!! I did make it but wish that I had felt better as I would have enjoyed it all so much more!

Anyway, back to work today and got scan booked for Tuesday. Am massively paranoid about it - I really don't know what to think! I think I'm 12+2 today and symptoms are waning, so I guess I can just wait til Tuesday and see what the scan reveals.

Anyway, enough of me! Hope you all have a nice weekend. xx

KittyRogue · 10/09/2011 10:51

Good luck laabama!! I'm sure it'll be fine!

Sorry for the forthcoming rant guys but need to get this off my chest!!

So, work finishes at 4 on Fridays and is very close to town so off I went on the hunt for maternity stuff!! This town has hardly any maternity clothes!!!! And what it does is expensive and naff!! So deflated I went looking for bras, went to M&S and nope nothing there really and what was there looked ugly!

So off I went to bravissmo. The lady fitter wouldn't take no for an answer and kept fitting me in the tightest backs possible! She was squeezing me into a 32 back when I know I'm at least a 34 usually 36!! So ouch!! Finally agreed on a size and £43 (sobs) later came out with a maternity bra! Went home, and started trying it on under clothes and it's so high that all my tops with a scoop neck, (anything that isn't a polo neck really) show some of it!

So not happy really! I miss my moulded padded push up, makes me feel supper sexy and give me a nice cleavage bras!! I feel so flat chested now and because there is no padding between me and the rest of the world my nipples keep brushing past things and it hurts so much!!!!

Why can't they make nice maternity bras?! I'm not asking for much, just a moulded cup or a little bit of padding or even cut nicely so I can still wear clothes that fit me rather than buying smocks?! I just want to feel pretty!!

Sorry for the long post but I was really looking forward to getting some new everything to show off my beginning bump and just enjoying this as much as possible.

knitterati · 10/09/2011 11:30

Flip - glad we're sharing a date! There's someone on the other march thread due for the 23rd too - must be a popular date :)

Kitty - sorry to hear about your bravissimo experience. Pre-pregnancy, I used to exclusively buy my bras from bravissimo cus the customer service was so good and they had a good selection for my awkward size (32E). Since getting pregnant, I went to mothercare for some sleep bras and day bras (need support at night, cus they're just so big and sore)! Anyhow - the service was good and the fitting was very good - came out with a nice bra that gives more cleavage than I've ever had really. So might be worth giving them a shot? HTH

laabama · 10/09/2011 13:22

Kitty - I had a good experience at Mothercare too. Like Knit I bought day and sleep bras (although am smaller size!). The day bras are quite pretty (got DP's approval anyway!) and are comfortable. I"m sure that soon you'll have more cleavage than you know what to do with again! :)

Happy Saturday everyone!

KittyRogue · 11/09/2011 11:43

Thanks guys, was feeling really sorry for myself the other day! Nipples still really hurt when wearing it, think a bit of online ordering is what is needed as the shops are so bad around here!!

Hope everyone is having good weekends!!

ILoveMyDragon · 11/09/2011 14:59

Ahh I feel your bra pain! They are my biggest nightmare atm!! I bought some normal bras up a size and they are good for now!

Depressed myself immensley yesterday as we went to a wedding and the starter was a lovely platter of parma ham and salami and yummies as I sat there munchin on melon balls!!! Followed in the evening by a gorgeous looking cheese platter with brie screamin at me as I scoffed bread rolls (and some smoked cheese as I decided that must be ok as its hard cheese....) tryin to fill myself up and not miss my beloved brie!!

Downs results back 1 in 5100 so think we're looking good there!! Again very quick only tested on Tuesday!

Anyway must do something constructive.....

ZhenXiang · 11/09/2011 21:10

Hey, have you lot seen this was on another thread, made me Grin

laabama · 11/09/2011 21:27

Zhen - that's brilliant!

kirsty12321 · 12/09/2011 09:57

Zhen that's amazing! Laughing is always a great way to start a Monday morning!

Is anyone buying baby stuff yet? I'm desperate to start getting equipment clothes ect but worried it's still too soon? Confused

NorthernGirlie · 12/09/2011 15:51

Kirsty - I caved in and bought the baby it's first pressie - an 'I love Daddy' babygro - presented to OH who was well chuffed :)

Not buying anything major (although I'm desperate to) as we're getting offers of 2nd hand stuff left right and centre! I do want to buy some stuff new (first baby and all that) but I'm loathe to turn down decent stuff from close friends and family :)

Reallea · 12/09/2011 19:38

Take all the second hand stuff you can get!! Course you can buy a few things but it all adds up so quickly with all the equipment you are going to buy...

Ladies who are on number three or above-did you buy a double buggy when you had o 2? We will have 21 months between them and DS sleeps well over lunch, even in the buggy when i am out and a ouhaving lunch so thinking of getting the double city mini? As phil and teds doesn't allow both to recline... I have the single city mini and love love love it. Ladies who are about to have number one, check out the review section!

ILoveMyDragon · 12/09/2011 23:34

I was looking online at buggies earlier just cos I can now!!!! But not gonna buy anything yet! Hopin to get some smaller bits 2nd hand off friends like sterilisers etc.
I have decided I want a travel system tho mainly due to my livin on the 3rd floor with no lift!!!!

When I told my parents my mum went straight out to buy us a congratulations pressie and ended up gettin some bibs!! And I'm sure as she sees odds and ends she will purchase!!!! Very very excited Grandma to be!!!

Reallea · 13/09/2011 07:46

If you are on the third floor without a lift I recommend the city mini even more.... Is so light plus is easy to fold and carry folded. They also do a flat carrycot that attaches and I know you can attach a maxi cosi but maybe the adaptors are only available in the states. Am finding out as I will want them!

NotFromConcentrate · 13/09/2011 10:01

Raella I am on number 3, but have 4 year gaps between each of mine so never had that problem! What I will say is that DS2 is 3.7 and I still very occasionally use his buggy so a double may well be worthwhile. Perhaps one which has a detachable second seat so you have the option of using it as a single or double (I'm not familiar with any other than the P&T which I know you're not keen on, but I've never really looked so there may well be others).

Is anyone else having interrupted sleep and crazy dreams? I'm fnding I have really bizarre, detailed dreams which I remember really clearly! Last night I woke up at 10.20pm really confused because I was sure it was after that before I went to bed... I'm clearly losing my marbles!

I'm looking forward to our second scan tomorrow (13+6), when I'll finally get a definite due date! Then I have the delights of "discussing" (arguing about) my home birth with the consultant Grin

Hope everyone is well :)

ShaggingProducesResults · 13/09/2011 11:54

Hi All

I'm also having really bizzare dreams. Have had quite a bit of back pain the last couple of weeks and it was really bad yesterday so I had to sleep in a different position to usual (quite uncomfortable). Not sure if this added to the dreams but I had several and the ones I can remember were about:

  • BIL's interview and potential new job
  • "nice" ham......

WTactualF??

NotFromConcentrate · 13/09/2011 12:58

Glad it's not just me Shagging Grin I've had dreams about old schoolfriends giving me a haircut and me ending up with purple hair and all sorts!!!

I also meant to ask if anyone else is planning a home birth? This will be (all going to plan!) my first HB and I have no idea what to expect.

laabama · 13/09/2011 17:01

I had my first scan today and all is fine! Really, really clear images of baby, which are just FAB! Nuchal bit was fine too, so just got to wait for blood test. I'm a few days further on than thought, so now 13+3 and due 17th March.
Finally beginning to relax and get excited about it. :)

KittyRogue · 13/09/2011 18:19

Heylaabama welcome to the 17 th march club!!! I think that makes you number four on this date now?!

I have been having really horrible nightmares before myforst scan which have thankfully died down. Am getting up 2 to 3 times a night for a wee though...

We are buying a Bugaboo Chamealon off a friend as I have been told they are pretty awesome prams/pushchairs etc

Thanks for the bra advice if I didn't say so already, will keep looking!

Love to all! X

knitterati · 13/09/2011 18:45

Laabama - congrats on the scan! Magical isn't it? Smile

Notfromconcentrate - I'm also hoping for a home-birth, also my first, so not really able to offer any advice I'm afraid! I know though that most plans go out of the window, so I'm not pinning my hopes on it!

knitterati · 13/09/2011 18:50

Oh forgot to add - had a weird dream about Dolly Parton of all people?!? She was dressed her age and had no make up on, singing on stage and she just looked like somebody's grandma! (probs not too far from the truth)! Wink

And having trouble sleeping - I normally sleep on my front, but that's just too inflated and uncomfortable. So have been sleeping on my back but have just read that I should avoid sleeping on my back! I'm not a side sleeper either so I'm thinking about getting one of those sleep/dream geniis? Has anyone tried it? Does it help?

Gingersnap88 · 13/09/2011 19:51

Hello, I'd also like to join the 17th of March club as they moved my due date by one day Grin glad there are lots of happy scan stories!

NotFromConcentrate · 13/09/2011 20:38

Knitterati is this your first baby? I've read lots of HB stories related to first babies recently so fingers crossed Grin I have my booking appointment tomorrow with the consultant (my appt due to take place immediately after my last scan was cancelled because I was measuring at 10+6 and they won't book until 11!) which could be fun. My community MW who looked after me with DS2 is really supportive, but i'm expecting resistance from the consultant due to severe PET with DS1. Ho hum.

Is anyone else sick of the "too many pies" stage yet? My big fat blossoming belly is not quite a defined bump yet (except in certain clothes) and it's really getting me down, which I know is stupid. I think it's because I lost 2 stones 10 lbs between April and June, and I'm watching my achievement (and new-found confidence) disappear before my eyes Blush

ReadRideABikeSwim · 13/09/2011 22:27

notfromconcentrate - yes i am sick of this stage and sick of getting on the scales to see another pound gained two days after the last ....Angry

i really need to start showing as i need some sympathy as I look so drained and fat

Kitty - i have oodles of children and swear by my cameleon which i bought second hand two children ago. Really love it - perfect pram!

I love prams though and still have a couple of others including one similar to this but probably not as nice - so much fun for the summer when our weans will be tiny!!!

SantaLucia · 14/09/2011 10:33

Ah, NotFromConcentrate you have hit the nail on the head. It is so depressing to see your figure morph into a dairy cow. I'm all boobs and no waist, potruding tummy but not a nice little hard bump like the skinny girls get. Having worked hard to lose weight in the past its very disheartening. Last night DH put his arm around my tummy in bed and said "oh, you are getting bigger" which he meant in a nice way but I nearly bit his head off. I went to the pool this week for a swim and also did some fast walking this morning (instead of a run) and I felt really annoyed that people would be thinking - look at that plump woman - she's not fit enough to run properly, whereas normally I'm really fit and reasonably slim with just a bit of wobble. The one good thing is that being big again has given me an appreciation of my hard work to get slim in the past. I never realised how much I took wearing nice jeans and tops for granted! Now I'm a leggings and tunic girl which is the uniform of choice for a lot of overweight people! Can't wait to look properly pregnant. Although I do see people an awful lot who look properly pregnant and they aren't! Now I sound like an anti-fat person (which would be very hypocritical given my past weight gain after DC1!).

ReadRideABikeSwim - I have just got a Silvercross from a local woman and I have it standing in my hall, giving it an airing before it goes into the cellars for storage, and I have fallen totally in love with it! There are lots of wide pavements near us and some nice parks so I'm really looking forward to strolling with my lovely old pram next summer! Planning just to use my ancient maclaren buggy for car trips etc. I also have a Bugaboo Bee from last time which is amazing for city life, car journeys etc and you can still have the baby facing you (which I personally really like because I get bored with nobody to talk to!)

Ok, so having read this post you all think I'm a born again exercise freak, ex-fatty, who is now anti-fat people and obsessed with buying prams. Blush
