Found out on sunday that were expecting our first baby in march!! Some online due date calculators say the 8th and some say the 10th so im not quite sure which one is right!!

Ive got my 1st doctors appointment tomorrow to confirm things

Has anyone else got the BFP and wants to celebrate?

Also know what you mean about jeans slipping down-my normal ones were also low cut so were fine until I had to go without the belt.. Then they would slip lower and always show off the side bits of flab that have grown pretty successfully over the last few weeks-thus making my bump look like a lump of flab as well! Got to say I have never been successful with any jeans without a belt though, I always feel like maternity ones are falling down too, even the over the bump ones! Think its because I have big hips but small waist so they are always usually too big for me on the waist. Stupid hips that I always thought were perfect for childbearing but then I still had to have forceps last time round. Praying for a DC with a smaller head this time!

Congrats Saj on the thallassaemia results! I watched a video with my gcse class on thallassaemia recently and the choices people have to make and it had me in tears! Turns out I was pg at the time and didn't know.

ILoveMyDragon · 23/09/2011 20:17

Excellent news saj!! As for the 12 week scan they don't do urine but they do do bloods after.

As for jeans fallin down it is my lifelong problem anyway as I'm tall so tend to try wear them lower as I can never get length then my arse sticks out!
I must admit when I bought my maternity jeans I didn't think I would like the over the bump ones but find them amazing for that reason my arse is covered!!

I walked into my bosses office yesterday and she went 'omg you've got a bump' but I'm putting that down to the fact she knows it should be a bump rather than me just looking fat!

Need to buy more jeans just not sure when I am gonna find the time...or money!

I'm actually findin after not havin any ms before I'm generally feeling quite crappy atm and still just as tired as ever! Also the incessnt peeing is doing my nut in already!!

Sorry for the essay!

Evening all

Been mad-busy for last couple of weeks, hence complete lack of reading blog / posting! 14+6 today, which I just can't believe!! Got my scan blood results too, 1 in 7780, so am quite happy with that although have just seen some that are so much higher than that - incredible! Am beginning to show a bit too - trousers are rather tight. Not sure all my jeans fit me any more and by the end of the day there's a definite 'lump'. Have had a few dull aches / occasional pains, which I'm putting down to growing / stretching! Have 'fessed up to most of my friends now, which is nice. One of them is due in Dec so it's a bit baby-tastic for us at the moment.

There seems to be a lot of people on here now due on the 17th March! St Patrick's Day no less and the day before Mothers' Day.

Hope you all have a good weekend. xx

ShaggingProducesResults · 24/09/2011 08:43

Oooooh. Were nearly at the end of our thread. Can someone witty come up with a new one please?!?

I realized last night that I need new clothes if I ever want people to talk to my face again. This boobage is out of control!! Might go shopping this afternoon!

ReadRideABikeSwim · 24/09/2011 17:04

Saj soooo happy for you all!!

Snagging oooooh yes!! I put on my 30e to go put for a meal last night and dd said 'that bras not suitable' I then spent the whole evening with dp wildly gesticulating behind waiters that my bust was on full display and me BRIGHT red and tugging my top up!!

Cannot bear the thought of done nasty bra though and the thought of feeding bras spirals me into despair....

I always crave bigger boobs but come this point in pregnancy I realise I like my tiny ones!

ReadRideABikeSwim · 24/09/2011 17:06

Please forgive iPhone corrections and Shagging especially you - it insists on 'snagging' you!

Saj30 · 24/09/2011 19:02

So the fact that they didn't take bloods even though I asked them is there anything else, I know the maternity unit is closing down in March but surely thats no reason to be slacking on my care? Sorry bit of a rant there, any advice ladies on what I should do?? Confused

As for clothing, had a wander around town today and have gone up a dress size, but am refusing to buy anything yet, just wearing current jeans without doing up top button and long-ish tops... is it true I shouldn't be wearing underwired bras anymore?

ShaggingProducesResults · 24/09/2011 19:02

I hope it's you iPhone corrector that means you dubbed a pair of 30e boobs "tiny"!!!

Just getting ready for a meal at a friends and hating all my clothes. I'm at the pudgy stage and so just look like I've had too many pies :( DH not terribly sympathetic. Just said I looked fine and pointed out that's what happens - helpful Hmm!!!

NotFromConcentrate · 25/09/2011 11:42

Morning everyone!

Seems like ginormous boobage is a bit of a recurring theme. I'm back into all of my pre-weight loss G cups but the double-boobing is shameful. As is the fact that I'm still in my undersides bras Blush

laabama I totally forgot Mothers Day is in March. I wonder of we'll have any wee Mothers Day arrivals Grin

ILoveMyDragon · 25/09/2011 17:25

Hey saj, not sure there! Unless u opted out of the combined test etc.? As for the bras I Still am as I couldn't get away with not! But I think they recommend you do'nt for your comfort, to be fair mine normally comes off once i get home!

I was asked what I Was gonna wear to the work christmas do (yes i work with neurotics who have nothing better to do than discuss christmas in september) and i just replied whatever the hell i can fit into!! I don't have to wear smart or anything to work and don't really want to go out of my way to buy clothes that aren't gonna be worn so I might be recyclin a summer maxi dress with a thick cardi!!!!

ILoveMyDragon · 25/09/2011 17:39

sorry keep forgettin!!
16+3

Fivesoontobesix · 26/09/2011 14:10

saj30 did you have a dating scan, or a nuchal scan? Because if it was a nuchal, they normally do the bloods straight after, but its not available in all areas, so it might have just been a dating scan, in which case, you normally have your bloods taken around 16 weeks, to get your risk for downs syndrome etc. Your midwife also normally takes blood at your booking in visit at around 8weeksish, depending on the first time you saw her, for your blood type, etc.

KittyRogue · 26/09/2011 22:04

Hey all 15 weeks! Threw up my breakfast into my lap, hand and cereal bowl today... Not fun! I thought ms finished in the first trimester?!

ILoveMyDragon · 27/09/2011 08:00

Oh Kitty!!! Not good I must admit I have been feelin pretty crappy with a ridiculous gag relflex - really struggling to brush my teeth etc with out wretching and I was fine in the first trimester!! Not quite feeling the 'blooming' 2nd trimester depsite people telling me I am looking so well.

I have a question for anyone who may like to give an opinion!

The whole debate about bubba being in your bedroom for the first few months, why is this? Is this a choice or will a HV get stroppy if they aren't? I can see it causing issues with DH as he is majorly against it.

ta!!

FlipFantasia · 27/09/2011 08:34

Morning ladies

Kitty how awful for you - really hope the sickness passes soon. My sis had it until 18 weeks with her second, after having none in her first (her first was a boy and her second was a girl if you want to believe any old wives' tales about what you may be having Grin).

Dragon the advice on having your bubs in your room for the first six months comes from research into sudden infant death syndrome - check out the fsids website for more info. From what I remember from first time around, v young babies can "forget" to breathe and hearing your breathing can help them regulate their own breathing so having them in a room with parents has helped cut SIDS (along with other things like no smoking around them, no sleeping on couches, feet to foot, back sleeping). I have a colleague who says she woke up to her daughter not breathing before she started again and her HV saying it was because she was next to her. We co-slept for months using this cot and I found it made BFing much easier. DH slept right through as I'd wake up before DS was at the crying stage - just his rooting was enough to wake me and then I'd be back to sleep quite fast (feeding lying down - a godsend!). Anyway, you'll find people who put their babies in a separate room from birth with a breathing monitor and others who have them in their room until they're 5. So like everything I'd say read up on it and then do what works for you and your family!

OK ladies this thread is nearly full - any suggestions on a new thread name? How about "Due March 2012 - buxom and blooming in the second trimester (we wish!)" [disclaimer: am rubbish at thinking of new thread names!]

Right, off to pretend to get some work done...

ShaggingProducesResults · 27/09/2011 09:09

Brilliant Flip. Great title for thread 2!!

Am having a few days of feeling crappy again (probably down to doing too much last week) but have my family coming to stay for the weekend which will be fantastic!!! Hopefully I'll get through a week of work and feel ok by then!

NotFromConcentrate · 27/09/2011 09:42

Love the new thread title, Flip. Maybe the two March threads will merge at some point, and then I cans top being confused about which conversation is where! Grin

Dragon I think Flip is right on the money about researching your options and doing what's best for you re: rooming in. I know a good few people who gave up rooming in very quickly because baby was a noisy sleeper and keeping everyone else awake. As far as HV's go, I reckon there's not much tht makes them happy anyway Wink I co-slept with both of mine, and she quite bluntly asked if I was trying to kill them. Jeez... rumbled. I think so long as you make an informed choice and take any necessary precatutions then you know what's best for you and baby.

I'm working from home today - anyone fancy a bacon sarnie? Grin

FlipFantasia · 27/09/2011 10:07

OK ladies, new thread here so come and let us know how you're doing.

Would love if mums from both threads posted, as I try to lurk on the other thread but usually don't manage it as have too little time!

NotfromConcentrate bacon sarnie [salivates] - god, I wish I could have one now! And I brought my lunch in today but may now have to stalk Kings Cross looking for a bacon sarnie at lunch time instead!

Reallea · 27/09/2011 21:39

Hey Dragon we lived in a small 2 bed bungalow when we had DS, we decided to try giving him his own room from day 1, we had both doors open for the first couple of nights and we used a video monitor so that we could see him as well as hear him, the monitor is really sensitive as well, if we turn up the volume we can hear him breathing. It is the summer slim and secure monitor from mother care here. I love the monitor and nowadays I know it's overkill to be able to see him but I was so happy for it in those early days when I could see if he was just fussing in his sleep or if he was awake and needed me to go I'm, but I swear my not going in at the slightest noise has made him really good at settling himself, we've never had any sleep probs from him at all. I had a sofa bed set up in the nursery in the first couple of weeks just in case which the health visitor saw but she knew I was sleeping in the other room and she was totally happy with that. I did buy the mothercare bedside cot thinking we'd start with him in our room but we thought we'd try the own-room thing first and as it worked we stuck with it and I ended up using it as a normal cot

My brother and his wife co-sleep as it is the norm in my SIL's country. They are really happy with that as well.
