Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
KristinaM · 27/11/2005 20:10

Oh dear chacha - looks like its just you and me......

Dh has been wonderful today - has looked after the children nearly all day so i can rest. Took DD to a birthday party then went to the supermarket to stock up. Bought me lots of chocolate. He even cleaned the bathroom & the kitchen floor on Friday. What a star!!!!

ohKARMAallyefaithfulMOTHER · 27/11/2005 20:37

Hi to all the bumps!

Thanks for everyone's kind words. It's been wonderful to have this much "sisterly" support & encouragement. Can't thank you all enough & I hope the waiting is almost over for you all.

KristinaM, God knows how the perineum withstood it all. Her head circumference is only 33.5cm so that might be why. Having said that, I can vividly remember saying at one point, "my perineum! My perineum!" as her head descended onto it. (sorry Chacha, don't mean to scare you)

She had 2 lots of lowish blood sugars & even just 2 mls of EBM was enough to bring it up.

DP was great & when I told him the wisecracks had to stop he duly shut up! He had a few tears at the birth & then said it was only fair we should get married now!! There.... you heard it here first!

As for the chocolate, here is the list as of now.
1 x box Milk Tray
1 x box mini toblerones
1 x giant bar of Dairy Milk
1 x chocolate pudding with choc sauce in the pub today
1 x slice sticky choc cake as I'm typing this!!

I feel like I'm heaven despite having tits the size of Jordan's. Actually, DP thinks he is in heaven because I've tits the size of Jordan's.

Off to stare adoringly at my DD now.

KristinaM · 27/11/2005 20:55

Karma - so pleased to hear that you are getting to pig out on chocolate AT LAST. Hope the watermelons arent too sore. How are Dp and Ds coping with the BF? And.....congratulatiosn on your wedding plans!!!!!! When's the big day????

sarahsausage · 28/11/2005 08:18

Good morning ladies,

Feeling great today, dp got first wage and its a lot more than expected, looking like a good christmas for us this year

On the house hunting front, we are taking a HUGE step backwards, am going to live with mum. As dp is away for most of the week, mum thought i shouldn't be left alone with a new baby. Can't say i'm looking forward to living with mum after i have lived in my own space but needs must. This way we can get enough money behind us for a deposit and maybe buy our own house eventually.

CONGRATS Karma!! (belated i know, blame it on the baby brain )

You still waiting too Kristina? Think my baby is waiting for christmas!

Bet you all had your babies in the night and i'm th only one left! Really did think that i wouldn't go over my dates this time around. Suppose theres still time yet.

Hope you are all well

Sarah 39+6!!!!

LilJ · 28/11/2005 09:20

Well it looks like there's only 4 of us left! And only 3 more days and we'll have to join the December thread. Still no baby here! And no signs of imminent arrival either.

My Mum left yesterday to go back to States, but will be back for Xmas so she'll meet the baby then. Was rather disappointed that she'll miss out on birth, but can't make the baby come out. We had a really great Thanksgiving with the appropriate mounds of food - I think my Mum and I must have spent more than 24 hours cooking while she was here. We even made the Xmas pudding in readiness for next month.

Yesterday I was very very grumpy as didn't sleep well and very bored with being pregnant. Am going to research reflexologists now and see if I can coax this baby out asap. Shall we take bets on who's last? Although I hate to say it I have a feeling it might be me - this baby seems mighty comfortable right where it is ...

ChaCha · 28/11/2005 09:27

Good morning Sarah & LilJ,

We're still here then?! [roll eyes]
SS - You sound very happy this morning and although it might be a bit hard at first I think it's a great opportunity to be back with your mum, both financially and for a little help with the kids esp as your DP works away..good for you!

LilJ - Glad you had a great Thanksgiving. Making me hungry thinking about it.

I think i've just had a show, but i'm not quite sure as it wasn't tinged in the blood that I generally see mentioned. I am going to post about it under other thread. Baby has to come out now!!

See yall in a bit x

Londoner · 28/11/2005 09:49

KristinaM · 28/11/2005 09:51

Kristina 40+6

ChaCha · 28/11/2005 09:56

Congratulations Karma How lovely! Have you set a date yet? How is DS taking to his little sister btw...as in love as you are? Awww...

Really must get dressed [groan]

sarahsausage · 28/11/2005 10:25

Well, i'm off shopping today also, to buy the contents of my hospital bag. And all the baby bits i still havent bought, so that would be EVERYTHING! Going to have soooooo much fun on bus with a 2 yr old wanting to get out of buggy and being (almost) 40 weeks pg.

Hope the long walk gets things moving, having said that was on feet all day yesterday and still no sign.

We WILL all have November babies (i hope! )

Chacha, hope it was a show and things start moving for you, i have no experience there as with dd i started with contractions and went straight for a section so no real labour experience either.

Sarah x

novadandypowder · 28/11/2005 12:05

SS - only just getting your hossy bag!!!!

Chacha - fingers crossed for you xx

Kristina - thanks for chipping in on the london meet up bitch fest - lol - i've posted my baby pics just to prove it.

ChaCha · 28/11/2005 12:08

Good luck with your Christmas shopping ladies, hope it brings on some labour!
Still waiting for m/w to call back (re: mucus plug) but guess it's just a case of the waiting game again - am also off to town now but to buy a duvet set .. in that got to come home and find everything new and clean mode!

Kristina - Sounds like you've had some well deserved TLC -

LilJ · 28/11/2005 14:20

Just had reflexology to try and bring labour on. Really lovely therapist who gave me a big hug at the end - she said that it may not work the first time but she'd do her best. We'll see ...

Thinking of going to the cinema this afternoon to take my mind of things as shopping seems too much to me right now, especially as very relaxed after the treatment. My cleaning lady is here so want to get out of the house to get out of her way, otherwise I'd probably lounge about the house for the rest of afternoon.

ChaCha - hope that you're right about mucous plug! You may be the first of the last of us! Keep us posted.

J xx 40+3

ChaCha · 28/11/2005 17:58

Hi girls,

Hope you all had successful shopping trips. I found shopping tiresome and between feeling so cold and looking for a bathroom every so often I was glad to get back home.
LilJ - Reflexology sounds promising and I hope it does the trick. Did you go to the cinema then? Anything worth watching?

Spoke to my m/w who said the mucus plug was a good sign but just to wait. Asked me if i was aware that Thursday's consultancy will involve an internal ... Had no idea so now I really want baby to arrive asap. This is what they call a sweep right? Kristina - any info?

Finding it really hard to walk, not sure if it's a result of this afternoons walking around the city centre but I am aching all over. Off for bath, pj's and snoochy slippers. Hopefully log on later xxx

Busyalexsmummy · 28/11/2005 20:07

very quick, just to say, had little boy 7lb 15oz, sunday evening at 6.15pm, named Alfie!
Gas and air and water birth, great experience!

KristinaM · 28/11/2005 20:25

Well done BAM you clever girl

chacha - as far as I knwo, you dont need to have an internal examination unless you want one. In fact I thought they didnt do them routinely at all. Unless you want them to sweep your membranes.

There is more information about the medical basis for a membrane sweep here

NICE guidelines Its on p109

A membrane sweep is meant to reduce the need for formal induction.

Its like a normal vaginal exam, except they poke about a bit ( sorry cant think of another way to explain it). I found it uncomfortabel but not painful. Some women I knwo have found it very sore. But of course you can get them to stop any time if you want.

If you do want it, I woudl take soem paracetemol beforehand (in case you get cramps) and put soem sanitary towels or panty liners in your bag. I got cramps for 24 hours aftre both of mine. But no contcarctions

Diege · 28/11/2005 21:04

Congratulations BAM !! Sounds idyllic birth, and looking forward to hearing the birth story! ChaCha, starting to feel excited for you; have a feeling you won't need the internal (note: my 'feelings' are notoriously wrong, but there's always a frist time!).

ChaCha · 28/11/2005 21:11

Congratulations Busy!!!

Thanks for that Kristina. I am utterly exhausted this evening, feel like i've been running a marathon. Going to relax as much as possible and switch off my phone!!! Do people really think you'd NOT tell them that baby has arrived..?

Nighty night x

Hanging on...ChaCha, LilJ, Kristina and SS!!

KristinaM · 29/11/2005 09:17

Morning ladies, how are you all?
Chacha, Lil, SS - we are teh chosen few

I bet you have all gone into labour overnight.Except me.

Chacha - good luck with the hospital appointment this monrning. i have one thsi aftrenoon & I will ask them to do another sweep ( thnaks for teh tip BAM). But its at 3.30 so DH has to take the afternoon off to watch Ds and collect DD from school. He has been wonderful these last few days [boast emoticon]

ChaCha · 29/11/2005 10:32

Hi Kristina,

I'm still here!
My appointment is Thursday afternoon so another two days to go, was really hoping I wouldn't need to. So, what do you reckon then? December babies? All I can console myself with right now is that I cannot go past the 9th of December. Great consolation eh?

Kristina i vaguely remember you (and this is not one for the breakfast bunch) mentioning piles. I seem to have them and unfortunately I am totally grossed out by it - seems to have developed in the last day or so. No pain and would hardly no they're there..what do I do about them? Thanks.

Not venturing out today, a day at home I think.

Good luck with this afternoon's appt Kristina and a big thumbs up to your attentive DH!! That's what we like to hear x

BEKsmum · 29/11/2005 10:47

Congratulations Busy, welcome to the two boys club! Glad the birth went so well, sounds perfect, looking forward to hearing more details.

Quick hello to Chacha, Kristina, LilJ & SS, hang in there girls it's got to happen soon, you can't avoid the inevitable! Hope you are all well and getting plenty of sleep while you can. If any of you would like one to practice on, Thomas is available for rental, screams loud enough to put anyone off having kids, can even drown out a ringing phone!!!

Catch up with you all soon, will keep checking for news Beks

LilJ · 29/11/2005 11:14

Congratulations BAM! Alfie is such a lovely name.

Well check reflexology off the list of things that are supposed to bring on labour but don't!!

I don't have the slightest sense that this baby is coming any time soon. I was having all sorts of BH and false alarms two weeks ago and now nothing much! Oh well I know it has to come by the 9th as that's as long as they'll let me go overdue.

I'm now in panic about Xmas as I've done so little shopping and if the baby comes at the very last minute I don't think I'll be up for much shopping! I guess everyone will be getting presents from the internet this year. The problem is that I start to get stressed out about the silliest things and then get insomnia and find myself wide awake at 3 am with my mind rushing about what to buy DH, my brother, step-mom etc for their Xmas presents.

Well I hope ChaCha, SS & Kristina are all in the throws of labour now and I join them soon!

J xx

KristinaM · 29/11/2005 11:18

Thanks Beks for the encouragement. Our Thomas ( 18 months) has a stinking cold and is teething so wont eat properly and is up half the night as well. It must be the name....he is just so curious and mischevious and full of energy. He was going to be a Matthew but just looked....well...too cheeky for such a well behaved name.

chacha - the piles thing was new to me as well ( thank goodness). One of the girls Twinkle i think recommended Anusol cream which you can buy over the counter. But it got better after a few days so i never bought any.....

Should probably go out and get some as suspect laboour will bring it back

Hope you get lots of rest today

KristinaM · 29/11/2005 11:23

Hey Lil

Dont stress about the presents I'm sure no one will expect much under the circumstances. If you are stuck , a nice bottle of bubbly, chocolates etc is always well received. I mean , woudl you be happy with that?

Or if your family are into that sort of thing, you can get a goat etc from Oxfam or World Vision or Christian Aid.

And teenaged relatives just want $$$$. yes I knwo your mother / granny always said it was unimaginative but HONESTLY i have never heard a teen complain about cash!!!

Londoner · 29/11/2005 12:07

Hello all!

...and ??????CONGRATULATIONS BUSY!?????????
What fantastic news, and Welcome baby Alfie!

ChaCha....sounds promising! Fingers crossed for you things happen soon...sounds like they might.

...also for you Lil and SS!
