Ha! I made it to the next thread.

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
takethatlady · 21/06/2011 14:47

On the June thread someone said that they have a 90% epidural rate in the USA! I guess there's 'medicalised' and then there's 'medicalised' ...

Don't worry ladies, I don't care about anyone else's typos or spelling mistakes. But when you spend half your life teaching English Lit and the other half writing it's pretty shit if you can't tell where to put a comma LOL.

Slang, swear words and all the rest of it I'm obviously fine with Grin

vallinna sorry you cried :( You won't become that lady - we just all have our off days!

Had a nice coffee with a girl from NCT today. Back home for lunch, now off to mw for 39 week appointment. Will be interested to see if this baby has moved down yet - it feels like she's still free-floating ...

BrassicaBabe · 21/06/2011 14:53

Don't look at me coaaf! Grin I've still not mentally joined the dots between large kicking bump and actual babies! Wink

Yep b2b, I'm booked for a ELCS at 38+5 - 13th July. Each to their own, but for me "medicalised" was always my first choice Grin

The Which? Best Buy baby monitors are listed as:
BT Baby Monitor 100
BT Baby Monitor 150
Philips Avent Eco Dect SCD525/00
Tommee Tippee SureSound Classic 431266
Tommee Tippee Closer to Nature 1082

Baby2b · 21/06/2011 15:21

Sorry brassica, the posts about the programme being medicalised weren't aimed at you. I am completely open to having what is necessary or wanted. Just thinking about the options made me wonder what you had chosen for twins.

Not all hospital births are medicalised like the show. They liked women sitting down with a drip and a monitor regardless. Not even just using dopler. There was one natural birth and they were laughing at her making noises. ttl it was that particular hospital that was 90%!

Thanks for the best buy list :)

ConfessionsOfAnAchingFanjo · 21/06/2011 15:42

I'm now very very happy to go first you'll be pleased to hear TTL and BB, just not doing a live birthing thread. It would take my mind off swearing at DH. Grin

If you go into labour before then BB will you still have a CS? Would it then be an emergencyCS or still and elective one? The only tip I can give is to shave your stomach yourself and that's from info I've gleaned off other threads.

Never used a monitor sorry B2B, but BB's list looks like a good place to start.

Hope you're doing better this afternoon Vallinna.

Argh can someone please stop me from buying things?! Have bought a close baby carrier, possibly a dream genii breastfeeding pillow (£25 instead of £39, just waiting to hear back from the guy), and maybe a load more nappies from the nappysite.co.uk. I keep seeing things and thinking, ooh must buy it now before its too late or the price goes up Wink. Fortunately it is pay day tomorrow...

My tummy would definitely need shaving Shock

Baby2b · 21/06/2011 16:28

Grin mine would need a good shave too.

ConfessionsOfAnAchingFanjo · 21/06/2011 16:30

Katee. Hand over your CC!

OP posts:
nickelbabe · 21/06/2011 16:31

ooh, if you're handing over your CC, i'll have it! (although I can't guarantee it'll stop anything being spent on it.......)

takethatlady · 21/06/2011 16:45

Oh phew b2b, I thought 90% for a whole massive country was a bit mad!

Thanks for the info bb :)

Tummy is the only thing I'm not shaving blind. No danger I can't see that!

Glad you're happy to give birth first coaaf because it looks like I'm never going to have the baby. She was back to back, then the right way around, and now she's back to back again. She is only 1/5 engaged (as she was 2 weeks ago, and the midwife said she was being 'optimistic' putting that down on my notes). And to top it all off I can't have an appointment at 40 weeks like i'm supposed to, or even at 41 weeks, as everywhere is full. So I now have no more midwife appointments and a baby who's not trying to be born. I'm supposed to get an induction at 40+10 but how the hospital will know I'm overdue now I don't have a midwife I just don't know! I know all this is totally surmountable and I can just pester them, and probably the baby will just drop down and be born all at the same time, but I'm pissed off anyway :( Angry.

ConfessionsOfAnAchingFanjo · 21/06/2011 19:32

My M&P's order arrived right before my pizza arrived. Yay. Now I Currant Bun has robots in it's moses basket. Grin Come out and play little baby...

OP posts:
takethatlady · 21/06/2011 20:44

Yay confessions - baby robots and pizza in one night. Pretty good! Enjoy! :)

We had fish and chips. I took a Pregnacare to make up for it Grin

KateeTheBump · 22/06/2011 09:07

I had burger and chips at the pub! And didn't take a pregnacare... bad mother! tee hee. Handing over the credit card wouldn't help as I don't possess one... shutting down my paypal might be a good move though Grin

KateeTheBump · 22/06/2011 09:08

Just wondering if half a glass of rose is enough to induce pregnancy hangover? I was so deep asleep when the alarm went off this morning I'm still feeling groggy and like curling up under the desk and going zzzzzzzzzzz

ConfessionsOfAnAchingFanjo · 22/06/2011 09:11

Aww TTL your wee girl WILL come out soon, I promise. Your whole MW situation is pretty sucky though. I suspect I haven't had quite as many appt as I should have (according to the chart in my notes) and I put it down to there just not being enough MWs to see everyone as often. Mind you this isn't my first so I can afford to be a bit more laid back about it. as for the whole position and engaged thing, try not to focus on that. Neither things were ever mentioned to me with DS and now, looking back, that ignorance was bliss! I would go on to say try not to focus on your EDD either as the E does only stand for estimated, but a) I think you'll hit me and b) I wouldn't be following my own advise.

I probably sounded a bit overly excited about toys last night, but I realised that they are actually the first non essential thing I've bought for this baby (and damn they cute!). Poor little DS though. He REALLY wants the boy robot and has even had 'conversations' with the baby where the baby says 'I a little girl, I don't need boy robot. You can have it' (or words to that effect) and DS replies, 'Aww Thank you. I a boy, I need boy robot'. Oh yes we're entering a whole new world of having to share in the Confessions house suddenly.

OP posts:
ConfessionsOfAnAchingFanjo · 22/06/2011 09:12

Morning Katee. In my experience yes half a glass of anything while pg will induce a rediculously out of proportion hangover.

OP posts:
Eskarina · 22/06/2011 09:41

Working from home today writing the children's reports and possibly doing my last 4 weeks worth of planning. It would be bliss to have all of that done!

TTL Sorry the wait seems so long. I've still got 8 weeks to go and am already getting impatient. Seems crap that you can't get a mw appt. We have a fab drop-in service here where there's a mw clinic accessible somewhere in a local town every day, even if just for a couple of hours. Is there anything like that near you?

COAAF Your DS sounds so sweet over the robots! I love that the whole negotiation/sharing thing has started already.

Must read rest of thread. I keep getting behind then not posting because I'm trying to catch up!

nickelbabe · 22/06/2011 09:48

tut tut to your DS enforcing false gender stereotypes! Shock
You tell him from me that boys and girls alike can play with/have both boy and girl robots! Grin

katee - i 'm sure I had a hangover from 0.0% cobra beer the other night Grin

ConfessionsOfAnAchingFanjo · 22/06/2011 09:56

It's alright Nickel he'd have both robots if I let him and his kangaroo is a girl (because it has a pouch) and one of his favorite toys. Also we went to a boys bday party last week and the bday boy had a PINK bouncy castle Grin. It made me think of you and have a private giggle.

Poo, the washing machine has finished so now I have to get out of bed and have a shower .

takethatlady · 22/06/2011 11:33

coaaf you can't be too excited about toys! What with the joys of birth around the corner, we all need pretty stuff to be focusing on! That is SO cute about your DS . So sweet how he doesn't just take the toy but has a very polite little imaginary conversation about it Grin. He is obviously made of good stuff :)

katee even going to the pub and not drinking a drop gives me a hangover these days. But on Friday I'm going to have a mahoosive glass of wine if I'm not pumping this LO out Grin, and sod the consequences Grin

Ooh esk I don't know about that - I'll find out. Feeling calmer about it today - DH came home and gave me sweets, flowers, fish and chips, cuddles and a massage :), which was way more than I needed but I wasn't going to turn it all down! He's a good egg :). Also, like coaaf says, all this engagement/baby in position stuff doesn't mean all that much so I could just have the baby before it becomes relevant anyway. Think it was the combination of feeling a bit abandoned by the mw, DH being stuck late at school, hormones, and the fact that two women I know in real life who were due around the same time as me (one a few days before, the other a few days after) have had their babies and the lady from my NCT class has had her baby drop so low they had to re-scan her! Felt a bit left behind. Thanks coaaf for the reassurance :)

And good job to that lady you know who hired a pink bouncy castle. I read this at the weekend nickel - thought you might be interested.

vallinnapod · 22/06/2011 12:12

Ohh, don't get me started on hormones or melting credit cards. Katee I am with you on PayPal...a couple of clicks is not really spending is it?! OppsyGrin

Work still shite :( It's been a ridiculously long week I can't believe it is only now half way through....5 weeks 2.5 days to go....

Bub's is kicking away as I type so I can ony assume he prefers MN to paid employment!

takethatlady · 22/06/2011 12:17

The worst is Amazon Buy With One Click .... eeeeeekkk!!!

Eskarina · 22/06/2011 12:49

ebay is my nemesis when it comes to spending...it's just too easy to think I've found a bargain.

nickelbabe · 22/06/2011 13:29

very interesting articel ttl

It also makes me think about the woman this morning who wanted Rapunzel, but not Rapunzel, but a story of the film Tangled.
why ????
What the fuck is wrong with the Ladybird version?
(it's cheaper for a start!)
and she wanted a simple version, but the film version doesn't come in a simple version!

nickelbabe · 22/06/2011 13:31

vallinna - we all prefer MN to paid employment! Grin
