Ha! I made it to the next thread.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Baby2b · 25/08/2011 02:24

Dh is timing mine for me. About every 6 mins at the mo and not fun. Thinking of putting my tens machine on. I want to sleep Sad

Good luck to you to x

Eskarina · 25/08/2011 07:25

You're doing better than me Baby. I decided I would try to sleep and succeeded and woke up to find significantly less action. DH is working from home today and I'm hoping things will ramp up again soon.

Hope you're not actually reading this but are having baby cuddles right now!

vallinnapod · 25/08/2011 09:49

B2B I hope you got some rest and that things have progressed xxx

QQ re: TENS - I am at a loss at when to put mine on. I know to be fully effective you should start using it early on but I am just unsure of how to tell I am actually in labour early on - if that makes sense?

nickelbabe · 25/08/2011 10:03

no update this morning from B2B - that must mean it's moving on!!
Shock

where's her live birth thread?

takethatlady · 25/08/2011 10:48

Ah sorry to have missed the posts last night. Sounds promising baby and esk :)

I hope you're off having babies now so this will be redundant, but as someone with a bit more experience than val (but not much!) I agree with what she says - try your best to be relaxed. I watched 24 which was weird, especially as it counts seconds as different points in the episodes and the bleeps go in time with the TENS machine vibrations. But it did pass the time. Keep getting your DH to time the contractions, and only start to think about going to the hospital when they're really regular and getting unbearable at home. You might remember mine got intense and regular for two twelve-hour stretches (with two twelve-hour stretches of almost nothing in between) before labour actually began, so it's important to conserve your energy! But hopefully that won't happen to you and you've already popped! Yaaay!

vallinnapod · 25/08/2011 11:30

Good tips TTL my aim is to stay at home until I really need more pain relief. At the point I will breeze into the birth centre and be told I am 10cms dilated and ready to push Grin

takethatlady · 25/08/2011 12:01

Yes val, good plan Wink

On the other side of it, if when you call the hospital they tell you not to come in, but you really really are finding it unbearable, just ignore the buggers and go down there anyway. My contractions were only every 4 minutes when I went and they told me to wait until they were every 2-3, but I was only four hours from 10cm and I needed that gas and air! (Oh yes, and that shot of pethidine Blush Grin).

I couldn't get on with under-bump stuff, but don't like elastic round the bump either. So I just went with tights/leggings and dresses (and heels Blush).

Slightly mad night here last night. DH made Isobel jump at about 7.30pm, and she instantly went bananas and screamed at a pitch I did not know was humanly possible until 9.30pm. She was utterly inconsolable and also had a red pimply rash on her back, neck and tummy, so I rang the out-of-hours doctor in a panic. By the time he rang back (45 minutes later!!!!) I had given her a dummy, which I have never done before. Instant magic. Sucked like a demon and fell to sleep in about five seconds. Then I wept because I had given her a dummy - God knows why I suddenly cared about something like that. She just looked weird with this massive thing in her face, I suppose. I don't know who is more mad, me or Isobel! Anyway, she then had a lovely night of sleep and woke up rash-free and giggling her head off. Phew! :)

Eskarina · 25/08/2011 13:04

Val that's my plan too. I seem to be following ttl in having several hours on followed by several hours off with contractions. But I slept most of the morning so am feeling a bit better.

I got my free pelvic floor exercises dvd from tena today. Can't remember who was struggling with them but it might be worth a try.

vallinnapod · 25/08/2011 13:22

I laugh in the face of like my optimism Grin

I am not struggling with the pelvic floor exercises, at least I thought not until I had another sneewee last night Wink

Esk any positive movement?

Off for coffee with my NCT group

KateeTheBump · 25/08/2011 13:24

Gah still trying to get the refund sorted out for that stupid changing mat from Mamas and Papas... 12 minutes into call with customer 'care' so far and am nearly slitting my wrists from the horrible plinky plonky music.

Hah thought that might make them pick up the phone! £23.80 now refunded onto my card, has only taken 5 weeks... Hmm

Hope all going well with b2b!

Baby2b · 25/08/2011 15:07

Still at home labouring. Contractions have spaced out but gone really intense. Managed to get sleep in ten minute segments though. I would highly advise anyone nearly due, to have afternoon naps and try to bank some sleep.

Hope things start moving for you soon esk.

Baby2b · 25/08/2011 15:09

Oh, on when to start using the tens...you will know Smile. When I started to need to 'do' breathing through contractions I put it on.

nickelbabe · 25/08/2011 15:21

oooh!!!!

exciting!
fingers crossed a smooth labour and birth and third stage Grin

KateeTheBump · 25/08/2011 15:25

Best of luck b2b - you're definitely going to have to come up with a new nickname on here soon! Grin

vallinnapod · 25/08/2011 19:25

GL B2B!

Just had the most awesome massage ever. Pregnancy or otherwise. A proper good pummelling. Followed it with smoked salmon and scrambled eggs for tea and could seriously die happy right now Grin

ConfessionsOfAnAchingMind · 26/08/2011 09:36

Oh looks like I missed an exciting day yesterday. Hope Esk and B2B have little baby viroids (or are actively in the process of having them arrive). Good luck girls :)

I'm back off to bed while Alba sleeps. She is sleeping through from 8.30pmish to 7amis now . FIL has been here for 2 nights and last night was a late one, so while DH has taken DS to play group I'm being lazy .

Aw TTL don't feel bad about the pacifier. A sleeping happy baby is far better than a screaming upset baby!

vallinnapod · 26/08/2011 11:24

I echo COAAM TTL. If it works, why worry? If she still has one at 18 I would start to question things Grin

Nada happening here really. Off to Brum this arvo so get fingers cross bub stays put! Shitty night's sleep last night so lazing around here Smile

Baby2b · 26/08/2011 12:10

Little one has arrived safely this morning.Grin Turned out to be quite a quick labour in the end. Beautiful boy just under 8 pounds. Should get home tonight. Will update properly when feeling less sleepy Grin

vallinnapod · 26/08/2011 12:47

Huge hugs and congrats to you all xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

ConfessionsOfAnAchingMind · 26/08/2011 16:59

Awww, well done and congratulations B2B!!! GrinGrin

Thinking I need to revert back to AchingFanjo. Hope my physio referal doesn't take to long to come through (only had my 6 week check 2 days ago and have been told it will take months. Can't afford to go private though).

Hmm still no word from Esk...

nickelbabe · 26/08/2011 17:02

Congratulations BisB Grin

glad it was quick :)

KateeTheBump · 26/08/2011 22:24

Congratulations b2b Grin really happy for you Smile

cowboylover · 26/08/2011 23:12

Congratulations B2B!

Don't worry about the dummy, sometimes I wish DD would like one but she won't have any of it as all she wants to do is duck her sleeve!
Been a demon the last few days with random crying and just will not go to bed :-( she's in her bouncy chair now laughing me

cowboylover · 26/08/2011 23:13

suck even!

nickelbabe · 27/08/2011 12:07

my little sister used to rub her thumb nail over her top lip to comfort herself. neve r sucked her thumb, just rubbed her top lip.
maybe she never worked out how to use a thumb as a dummy? Grin

I was a bit naughty this morning - I had to get up at the nomral time, and waited for the alarm as usual, but my body refused to get up until Isbn had woken! HmmGrin
thankfully, it woke about 10 minutes after alarm, so wasn't too late getting up, but it was a risky move! Shock
