Hi all, congratulations! and may I join too? Have posted a little bit on MN before but have now namechanged as this is all top secret for now! Have just done a test having had suspicions all weekend. I reckon a due date of Feb 1st. Already have two sons aged 4.5 and 2.5. It all seems quite surreal so far. Usually my symptoms kick in at week 6 so I'm trying to enjoy lack of nausea while it lasts :)

MrsHuxtable · 01/06/2011 10:51

Hello again,
congratulations everyone. I'm sure we'll have an exciting time on here.

To be honest, I kind of regret having tested 2 days before AF is due. I keep hearing so much about chemical pregnancies, early misscarriage and how you shouldn't test til AF is at least a few days late. I'm now driving myself potty because I'm convinced that will be me and this pregnancy will end any minute. Not ideal when I have an OU assignment to finish til tonight and my wedding in 2 days. I could honestly cry. Very down today.

Does anyone else feel like this? Or are you all perfectly happy knowing what you know.

Millie, this is my first baby (hopefully)...

LankyLegs · 01/06/2011 10:57

MrsHuxtable I know exactly how you feel but I think we just have to take every day as it comes. I keep thinking if this baby is meant to be it will be and there isn't anything we can do (apart from the obvious drinking smoking etc etc) to change that. I am still teetering on the edge and google is a bad thing as I keep searching about disasterous stats and symptoms etc, particularly as I keep getting dull aches on my left side.

I think the fact that you got a pregant on the digital 2 days before AF is a positve sign that you have strong levels of hcg. Those tests are not the most sensitive and often you have to wait until AF is a few days late before using them.

Anyway I hope you feel better but I am sat here thinking the same - but just trying to be rational..... and wishing away the next 8 weeks so we can get to the 12 week mark!

puzzletree · 01/06/2011 11:13

MrsHuxtable I think the way you're feeling is very normal and understandable. I remember feeling like that with my first because I was so excited and nervous and had never been pregnant before, and I think even more with my second pregnancy because I was more aware of how often things go wrong. Both times I wasn't convinced I was really pregnant until the first scan, and then I don't think I really relaxed until I felt the baby kick.

I'm sure I'll feel the same this time when it finally sinks in that this is real, I think I'm still in disbelief! I think it's good to be aware that things may not work out, but try and enjoy the good excited feelings you're having too, you ARE pregnant even though it may feel too good to be true! And you're getting married!!!!

Also if you get crampy AF feelings don't be disheartened, I've had this all 3 times and been convinced AF was on its way but obviously it wasn't.

TopazMortmain · 01/06/2011 12:28

Hallo! (waves shyly emoticon)

Can I join? Just got my bfp from my first ivf cycle and due beginning Feb. Waiting on second beta test and chewing my nails until then.

X

LankyLegs · 01/06/2011 13:59

Welcome topaz so very happy for you that your first round of IVF was a success! I bet you are pleased!

I think a lot of us will be biting nails for the next 8 weeks.... the days since we found out seem to be going very slowly for some reason... Hmm

TopazMortmain · 01/06/2011 14:49

Thanks LankyLegs

Time has NEVER gone so slowly. I remember the gold old days (last month) when the days just whizzed by...

LankyLegs · 01/06/2011 15:53

Ha! Yes the good 'ol days.... when all you worried about was getting pregnant and now we are it seems that time has stopped for some reason. How long were you trying for and is this your first?

puzzletree · 01/06/2011 17:20

Is anyone else feeling uncomfortably bloated? I must only be 5 weeks pregnant but my jeans feel too tight so have had to put on stretchy gym trousers and have a massive squidgy belly. I managed to wear normal jeans for ages in previous pregnancies. It might be hard to keep this a secret!?

EsmeWeatherwax · 01/06/2011 17:31

Hi ladies, welcome to all the newbies! Haha, from the veteran of one week! Puzzletree, yep, also very bloated. In maternity jeans already. Think stomach muscles have just collapsed after dd2! I'm very large of tummy anyway, and usually actually lost weight in my first trimester because of all the nausea and vomiting, so have never needed maternity jeans til about 5 months in. Glad I kept my old ones!

puzzletree · 01/06/2011 18:27

I've no idea where my maternity stuff is, I must have given it away to someone, well the stuff that wasn't ruined after being lived in for about 3 years. Ah well, when are we allowed to buy new clothes? :)

TopazMortmain · 02/06/2011 01:55

Hey LankyLegs I've been on contraception for ten years for hormone problems. Drs told me would have no chance conceiving, did IVF for one try with own eggs - produced LOTS of eggs and bingo, breathing into a paper bag and feeling confused :-)

EsmeWeatherwax and Puzzletree am so bloated that no trousers fit. People think I am going through an ultra feminine week at work. New clothes! Ooooh

MrsHuxtable I have been cramping horriblly since cd20 and dr says is normal apparently. Doesn't feel normal when bent over desk clenching teeth like a deranged dragon willing a cramp to pass but I am goin to refuse to worry about it.

Would anyone like a Pringle?

TopazMortmain · 02/06/2011 01:56

PS apologies for typos.

puzzletree · 02/06/2011 07:50

TopazMortmain Lol at 'ultra feminine week', think my look will just be ultra slobby for a while.

Hosting a mums and tots group this morning, would tell people but don't want my boys to overhear so will have to keep quiet for now. Are you all telling people yet? I've only mentioned it to the friend I passed on all my newborn stuff to, to ask her to keep hold of it!

m1nn1em0u5e · 02/06/2011 09:42

Morning! Another bloated one here!....Actually starting to worry it must be twins!....That would be a shock jumping from 2 to 4 children!....Feeling absolutely washed out, doesn't help that I have picked up a head ache, sore throat & a cold & have started with nausea from certain smells! We have told most people really, we are of the mind set that even if things did go wrong with the pregnancy, we would tell people anyway..im not really into waiting 12 weeks, think its obvious by my heaving and avoiding certain smells what is going on!

OP posts:
EsmeWeatherwax · 02/06/2011 10:21

Topaz I'll take a Pringle. Do they come in scrambled egg flavour? My unnatural obsession with scrambled eggs is definitely growing. Had them for breakfast and tea yesterday. I'm going to look back on this in future and boak, I normally really, really hate scrambled eggs!

I'm trying not to tell anybody yet, but failing miserably. Told dd1 by accident Hmm and she's telling everybody she meets, so wasting my time there really!

Minniemouse so not looking forward to the onset of "morning" sickness. I'm usually ok til aqbout 7-8 weeks, so enjoying boak free time just now.

Moofins · 02/06/2011 12:06

Congrats to those who have just found out. I agree that the days following the bfp have been sooooooooo slow! And I have to find a big pair of v unflattering trousers to wear today - I'd put it down to eating too much yesterday! Now I can blame the pregnancy!

Am feeling slightly bleugh at the thought of scrambled egg pringles.....

I told DS (21 months) but hes not really speaking properly yet - however he has now started to shout "baby" every so often!

Just had a call from nursery that DS has come down with chicken pox again - he only had it in November! Just my bloody luck he gets it again and now! Oh well DH has gone to pick him up. I've had it before so shouldnt be a problem but will be checking with the drs this afternoon. But then I cant really avoid going home!

TopazMortmain · 02/06/2011 12:27

EsmeWeatherwax Today I bought SEAWEED Pringles and they were light green. This is true. I would also have devoured eaten scrambled egg Pringles if they made them...

Moofins :-) at shouts of BABY!

We have told MIL, some friends and the cats. No idea when to tell anyone else tbh. Work are soon going to notice what with all the ginger tea, absurd dresses and general gagging in the lunchroom...

TopazMortmain · 02/06/2011 12:30

m1nn1em0u5e poo to feeing so ill. Brew?

puzzletree · 02/06/2011 15:50

m1nn1em0u5e A friend told me today that she's 8 weeks pregnant with twins, and reckons morning sickness kicked in as soon as she conceived (she thought she was a month further along until she had the scan and found out only 8 weeks, and twins!) so maybe you're right. Are you feeling worse than in other pregnancies?

Another weird co-incidence today is that another friend randomly brought me back my maternity wear that she's had for almost 2 years. I hadn't told her so she must have some kind of psychic link!

Still just feeling bloated here but not complaining really, not looking forward to the nausea at all. In fact I should prepare a few months worth of meals for the freezer now, while the thought of food doesn't make me heave.

puzzletree · 02/06/2011 15:51

Moofins my boys have just had the pox a couple of weeks ago, was hoping that meant they'd not get it again, eek to having it twice!

greenygrassy · 02/06/2011 17:21

Congratulations newbies!

Another seriously bloated person here. Have thought about going to get some maternity jeans, but can't quite bring myself to do it yet, so am wandering around with my button open and jeans falling down.

Have started feeling a little nauseous today, but can't tell if it's for real, or my imagination. Scrambled egg pringles making me heave too.

Topaz I was cramping really badly too and eventually figured out it was the papaya I had for breakfast four days in a row. When's your second test?

Moofins Your poor DS - I didn't know you could get it twice.

Puzzle Strange but useful coincidence.

Tiiime soooooooo slooooooow.

m1nn1em0u5e · 02/06/2011 19:02

puzzletree I had hyperemesis in my previous 2 pregnancies from early on, so this is actually better!....Its the bloating thats worrying me re twins!

My Nan & my Aunt have both had sets of twins!....Time will tell!

Thats strange re maternity clothes!....I have nothing maternity like, I sold/gave things away last time!....Have been looking through my wardrobe wondering what I can get away with!....I think my leggings may come in useful very soon!.....

OP posts:
puzzletree · 02/06/2011 20:06

m1nn1em0u5e oh poor you suffering hyperemesis, hope this pregnancy is kinder to you. Interesting about family history of twins. I know a few people whose third child has turned out to be twins. Really hoping this is a singleton!

Really ought to ring the gp and find out about booking in. I think previously I've just had to book an appointment with the midwife for about 8 weeks. Has anyone got any dates for appointments/scans yet?

Millie26 · 02/06/2011 21:39

Hey everyone, just a quick one to say congratulations to all the new people - so many moving conception stories already!

I've poas everyday for the last week. Really, really need to stop.

Symptoms wise feel ok except that my boobs are absolutely killing me. Also, have put on almost a stone since my wedding day 4 and a half weeks ago - A STONE. Aarrgghh!

Also, is anyone else a jogger on here? I went for a run today (am really bad) but got really hot. Had a discussion over on pregnancy about whether or not to carry on running and everyone said different things.

Is anyone else thinking of keeping up aerobic exercise?

xx
