Well my test was much darker today so explains why I woke up with really bad cramps and feeling generally bloated and yuk! All good though!

Theducksaysmoo - you asked about early scans, to be honest they are more fraught with angst than they normally solve. Even on my second pregnancy,(with my dd) I went at 7.5 weeks and was told they could not see anything and that I was either wrong with dates (not possible) or it would end in m/c. I had a horrible 11 day wait until going back to find everything fine and exactly to dates as thought. I have landed in hospital with "pregnancy of unknown location" on two occassions. Early scans are notoriously unreliable (you only need to search threads on here to find that). If they find nothing wrong, it does not mean all will be well in a few weeks could still end in a missed miscarriage, if they can't find the pregnancy or it is not to dates it does not mean an inevitable m/c. Really I would advice no one go look for an early scan unless absolutely necessary, as it can cause more stress than relieves.

gonerogue - at least you can go back in big baggy trousers etc and make out it is the post-baby bulge for a while. I am already bloating and if it is like any of my previous pregnancies (except my 1st), I will look definitiely pregnant in just a couple of short weeks. I generally have to put my maternity trousers on at about 6 weeks!!!!! My collegues will start guessing very soon about me, worse as I have gone on about dieting and exercise and losing weight for the last couple of months Grin. Anyway I hope the commute and the smog don't get to you too bad, and that you enjoy getting back to work for a few months.

xavielli - hi due date buddy. Sorry to hear that your dp might be a bit anti the pregnancy. Do you think he will come around to the idea? Or do you think he will put pressure on you to terminate? When do you think you will tell him? I am already feeling rough how about you?

Hi to everyone else!

miamama09 · 07/06/2011 12:30

Hi everyone! Just found this thread today, due at end of Jan but was 2 weeks late with first DD... This one very much planned, but feeling nothing but worried these days and very tired! It is impossible to stay calm up until the 12 week scan, am constantly worrying about everything!
Hope you are all feeling ok and not too sick!

Gobolino · 07/06/2011 13:07

Hi everyone,
Just popping in to add my details - while crossing fingers Bean is hanging on tight. I'm 9 days overdue now and have 3 positive tests stashed away at home, so daring to hope...
I'm due 6th Feb with our first baby, never been pregnant before so I hope you don't mind me asking lots of stupid questions. Feel almost normal so far, apart from occasional lower back cramps which GP says nothing to worry about as long as they're no worse than normal period.
Looking forward to the journey! Huge congrats to everyone else.

TopazMortmain · 07/06/2011 14:15

waves a queasy hand hello

Sorry for posting and running but... Quick poll - who here is feeling decidedly green?

So far my patent home remedies have failed. This includes fresh ginger tea (tastes of water for some reason, not ginger despite half a root in the mug), Ritz crackers (too buttery ew) and Fox's Glacier Mints (nice but pointless).

How are you managing to keep up appearances whilst inwardly churning? I've had a glassy eyed stare at work for some days....

gonerogue · 07/06/2011 14:38

Topaz I know what you mean about the remedies - nothing worked for me last time so interested in anything people have to offer. I tried the ginger tea, travel sickness bands, mint tea, mints, ginger nut biscuits, oatcakes, and a host of others that I can't remember now - nothign worked.

As for the glassy eyed stare - I have been there before too. I have no ideas for helping with that but am interested in whatever anyone else says.

willitbe good news about the darker lines - remember any symptoms are just hormones rushing about so yay and fingers crossed.

Hi to miamama and gobolino and everyone else. Have my sister coming for lunch now so will have to make sure it' s something I can stomach. Grin

puzzletree · 07/06/2011 14:41

Not feeling too green yet, but these are the things I remember helping (a little) during previous pregnancies:
sipping various herbal/fruit teas, sipping cold water, plain cream crackers, chewing gum, fruit smoothies, fruit polos
I think I always had a drink of something on the go, was glad my office was near a toilet!

miamama09 · 07/06/2011 14:54

Tried all the remedies, having some homeopathic remedies sent to me in the post, I will let you know if any of them work. Wasn't sick with the first one so it's new to me!

As for the glassy eyed stare in work - all day every day! 3pm comes and it's like someone has knocked me out. I try to find somewhere to sit and close my eyes on lunch for half an hour, just be careful not to fall asleep for too long! Am sure everyone in work knows already though, probably paranoia, but am so self conscious all the time in the office. Roll on 12 weeks!

Good luck everyone!

greenygrassy · 07/06/2011 15:45

Congrats new ladies! And Topaz for the twins!!!

I can practically feel my gills, and I'm all green around them. I've managed to keep up appearances today by staying at home! Do feel guilty, but so much better than yesterday, when I had a huge headache in addition to the nausea.

Xavielli · 07/06/2011 15:50

Told DP earlier and he was fine!! Obviously a bit indignant that the snip had been for nothing but no where near as anti another baby as last time! So relieved! He asked if we were waiting for the 12 week scan to tell people so atleast he's not wasting his time trying to convince me not to have it.

Feeling a little bit crampy and queasy which is normal for me, although I've never had sickness with any of my pregnancies! Completely off tea already (which was my first clue that I needed to test) and everything absolutely stinks.

WaterKelpie · 07/06/2011 16:03

Gosh, there's a huge list of us already!

I went to bed at 9:30pm last night. I was so tired.

Topaz and gonerogue, I tried loads of remedies in my last pregnancy (sea bands, ginger biscuits, peppermint tea , ginger tincture, plain rice crackers, gaviscon). Nothing seemed to work!

I am not feeling too queasy yet (nauseous all day but only sick once yesterday and not yet today) but I tend to go for a gentle walk after meals (weather permitting), which seems to aid digestion. I don't know if it's psychological (keeping my mind occupied with moving my limbs) or the fresh air, but it seems to lessen the nausea most of the time.

My last pregnancy was a struggle - I couldn't even go into the kitchen or fridge because of smells that I hadn't even noticed were there before, and I completely went off meat - my DH was banned from cooking it for himself as even that smell made me boak! He used to sneak in a cheeky burger on the way home from work and I could smell it on him when he came home! I'm hoping that this time won't be so bad, but it's early days.

I'm debating whether to go to the doctors this week or next. I'm 4.1 weeks, so I think it's a bit early. Is there any benefit to going asap? I assume that he'll just make a note and shove a load of leaflets at me!

TheDuckSaysMoo, I was going to ask for an early scan too (at 8 weeks) as I've had two mc and I wanted to reassure myself. But after reading what willitbe wrote, I'm not sure if it will help. If I have the 8 week scan and they can't find anything, and tell me to come back, I will be absolutely devastated. I can't imagine what that wait will be like. But then I am worried too about going to the 12 week scan and them finding mmc... I suppose everything could be fine at the 8 week scan and there could still be mmc at the 12 week scan, so it might not put my mind at rest at all. Sorry, rambling now!

Hello, Xavielli and miamama! Congratulations!

womanlytales · 07/06/2011 16:36

wow - I happened to be lurking and lanky I saw your post - I am SOOOOO Happy for you hon - - A big hug and congrats on your bfp :)

TheDuckSaysMoo · 07/06/2011 18:23

Congratulations Xavieli - I was thinking about you telling dp all last night. I'm so glad he is okay with it.

Thanks for the advice willitbe - I hadn't considered that at all and had to go through that with my mmc too. Clearly my pregnancy brain is kicking in now. I would hate to go through all that again. Waterkelpie I don't want to wait for the 12 week scan either - mainly it's the thought of being in a waiting room with all the happy, first appointment people. I suppose in most cases we'll have had some signs of all not being well by then and will have taken different action. I'll ask the doc for advice on Friday.

gonerogue · 07/06/2011 19:10

Yay Xavielli That fantastic news about your DP's reaction. SO happy for you. Grin

Another one here that ca't wait for the first scan - it's gong to be a nerve wracking few months.

woowa · 07/06/2011 19:24

Xavielli so glad your DP was ok with it, that's fab news. Maybe having another little one has changed his mind about them!

3pm. Definitley the worst time of day. why is that? I remember in my first pgcy it being exactly the same.

1st timers - no question is too silly or minor!

Early scans- i get one at 8 weeks because it's IVF but we're on holiday for two weeks around that date, so i may have one at 7 weeks, or maybe at about 9/10. It is a hard choice because at 7 weeks it (or they!) might look fine but then mc, but it feels like forever to wait until after the holiday, especially as we'll be seeing friends who'd i share it with if we'd had a scan. With DD1 i had a scan at 8 weeks and then bled at 9 weeks - the nurse told me that i couldn't possibly miscarry because the scan at 8 weeks was so good, so it seems she felt that 8 weeks scan was good enough to predict what would happen. Anyway, like all of you, it's an anxious wait. Especially as I'd love to know how many there are!!

Off to watch telly all evening since I am pregnant and am allowed to let the house go to rack and ruin for the next 9 months :-)

m1nn1em0u5e · 07/06/2011 20:27

Evening all.....im extremely green around the gills :( Dont like it & just keeping my fingers x it doesnt become hyperemesis like I had with my previous 2 babies, forgot just how awful morning sickness makes you feel, doesnt help that ive got horrendous tooth ache & a dentist who really doesnt want to do anything until after the baby arrives, which is 34 weeks away....Congratulations to the growing list of Feb people!....

Morning All ,

Lovely to see the list getting bigger!

Firstly womanly that is soo sweet of you to pop by and congratulate me ? will PM you for a catch up shortly. Hope you are well xxx

Sorry to all those that are feeling green around the gills. I am getting worried that I am not!! But am noting down your wise suggestions on when it might kick in. Am generally feeling really bloody tired and have been having sore boobs on and off as well as some cramps.

Xavielli am soo pleased your DP was pleased with the news now you can crack on an enjoy the pregnancy!

Am echoing everyone?s feelings about the first scan ? it can?t seem more further away at the moment! Thanks willitbe for the scan information as well ? I can see how the early scans can lead to even more worry and distress than it is worth! But great news that your lines are getting darker ? really positive. I was doing the same and assessing them on a daily basis making sure they were getting darker!

generogue hope your first day back at work is ok after ML.

Runaround how did your scan go? Hope you got the reassurance you wanted.

Waves to everyone else! Pleased there are lots of seasoned professionals on here so that us first timers can ask lots of questions. Can I be cheeky and ask if everyone is continuing with an ?active sex life?? Part of me is freaking out a bit at the thought of having sex so early but not sure how long my DH will last!! Its? only been a week!! Blush

I have been very good and only peed on 1 further stick this week but I do have 2 digital tests still... am I being insane?!

currybaby · 08/06/2011 08:51

Morning

I'm not feeling or being sick yet either - just a little bit nauseus sometimes and have cramps every evening after dinner. The only other thing i've noticed is that i seem to be 'moving my bowls' a lot more than usual! But that might be just me..

I've been carrying on with sex - I think its fine...? (i hope).

This does seem to be have been the longest week I've ever had. I'm really trying to start thinking about other things (like getting back to concentrating at work) for a while - otherwise the next 7 weeks are going to really drag by!

Really amazed that I'm not bothered about not drinking - i thought i'd be really missing it but I haven't got any interest in it which is great. In fact the thought of drinking my beloved red wine makes me feel a leeetle bit ill :-)

currybaby · 08/06/2011 08:53

oh and lankylegs - i'm still doing preg tests every few days...just to make sure - you're not insane :-)

LankyLegs · 08/06/2011 09:09

Thanks currybaby am pleased I am not the only mad one! I think untill i start feeling really sick I am will be in disbelief and probably still pee on sticks to reassure myself.

Yep - sex is absolutely fine. I think it's more in my head than anything!!!

Agree with you about the drinking too - spent all weekend amongst lots of drinking folk and felt rather smug at the thought of no hangover like the rest of them!! I am starting to go off meat thought.... sometimes the thought of it makes me want to boak...!

puzzletree · 08/06/2011 09:14

Morning fellow bus travellers, sorry for those that are feeling sick, will ask the driver to take care over bumps!
I'm still feeling pretty fine, just a bit crampy and bloated, think I'm 6 weeks today which is when the nausea usually kicks in for me so I'll be sort of relieved when it does just as reassurance, but also it'll be annoying of course.
LankyLegs regarding sex, I'd say definitely do it if you feel up to it, I went off sex for long periods during pregnancy and even more so after birth and while breastfeeding. So do it while you enjoy it!!!!
Got a music night planned with a group of friends tonight, we usually have wine and smelly cheese but I think we luckily might not be doing cheese tonight anyway, phew! Drinks-wise I'm thinking to take gin and tonic and say I'll mix my own (but miss out the gin), wish me luck with that cunning plan :)

Xavielli · 08/06/2011 09:38

Sex is fine, infact I'd say preggers sex is the best! Everything is more sensitive and towards the end of the second trimester I always seem to fall in love with DP all over again, which makes it really special.

Don't worry too much about not feeling sick, it doesn't kick in for some people until 8-9 weeks. As I said before I've never had sickness in pg. I just feel hungry ALL the time for thefirst 3 month but really don't like the thought of food!
Everyone is different.

I'm still in shock that I'm on baby no 4!

currybaby · 08/06/2011 09:38

can i check are you all counting from the first day of your last period? mine was apr 26 so I would be in week 6?? I think that's what the doctor counts from?

puzzletree · 08/06/2011 09:45

currybaby yes, count from the first day of your last period.

Xavielli glad you DP was ok about the news. and I've also got the hunger thing. I don't normally have breakfast, but when I'm pregnant I need breakfast! Just munching on a crumpet now. Also get that thing of hating to think about or prepare food but when it's there in front of me I'll happily eat.

LankyLegs · 08/06/2011 10:10

Xavielli that sounds very sweet! I can relate about the hunger thing too and glad that not everyone gets the whole sickness thing. Have to keep telling yourself that everyone is different in pregnancy. puzzle I think thats the thing - have been off sex for the last 2 weeks... but last night had some really strange dreams.... no one warned me about them for crying out loud Blush

I think that is how I am counting mine too - although the GP gave me a due date that was different to the one I calculated. She was heavily pregnant herself and proceeded to write me out me a sick form rather than a maternity exemption form.... Confused

EsmeWeatherwax · 08/06/2011 10:24

Lankylegs one of the lesser known pregnancy side effects...'those' dreams. Haha, at least its a pleasant side efffect!

Congrats and welcome to all the new bfp-ers! I can see this is going to be one of those super busy anti-natal groups where we have 20 threads before we're all due! I'm so rubbish at keeping up too!

No green-ness here yet, thank goodness, although I'm actually a wee bit worried as I have been so bad in previous pregnancies, my sense of smell hasn't even gone haywire yet! Much sympathy for those affected, its sooo yuck!

Had first midwife appointment on Monday, was really good! Very nice m/w, she was about 8 months pregnant herself. Its all changed apparently since I had dd2, so I have a screening appointment at 10 weeks before scan/booking appointment at 12 weeks. I've also been offered a c-section as I've had two previously, which is a bit of a relief tbh.
